Indesign CS3 fails to launch on Vista

Installed cs3 illustrator, photoshop, flash, and indesign no problems (new laptop nothing else on it except Office 2007)
All programs launch except indesign.
Error says:
FontCapture: indesigncs3.exe - Entry Point Not found
and something like procedure entry point could not be located in dynamic link library public.dll
It hangs on "Registering 215 plugin" and then the above message pops up.
I click OK and then it looks like it is checking everything like it is going to launch anyway and then it says there is a problem with the program do I want to check online for a solution and closes the program.
I've tried removing the SING folder...no help
I've tried reinstalling...no help
I've downloaded the 5.0.2 patch...no help
Any ideas???

Diane,
Did you figure out how to solve this issue? I'm having the same problem

  • InDesign CS3 crashing on launch

    INDD cs3 5.4
    Mac (Intel)  OS 10.5.8
    Hi there,
Having major issues with indesign CS3 crashing upon launch.
It gets as far as saying "starting up service registry". before bumming out.
Previously it had been running without any major issues for at least a year or so. Not recently updated anything on my machine so curious as to why this is now happening!
    So far I've tried...
    1) deleting indesign prefs and cache
    2) reparing indesign
    3) removing suitcase fusion and fusion's core
    4) repaired disk permissions
    5) started up in safe mode AND created new user account on mac too
    6) used font doctor to repair / examine font library.
    7) turned off ALL fonts including system fonts.
So far nothing has worked!  Does anybody have the answer?!?
    Thanks in advance.

Make sure you have the last patch, 5.0.4 build 682 (hold down the CMD key while choosing About InDesign from the help menu). You said you do, but verify it. Make sure, too, that the fonts mentioned inthe KB article are active.
If all else fails, think about uninstalling, running the clean script, and reinstalling.

  • CS3 fails to launch

    Hi;
Everything was working well, then this morning CS3 failed to launch. I tried launching from existing docs and from the application icon; it seems to launch then dissappears after a second or so. No error message.
Short of upgrading to CS5 (which means I will need to upgrade from MacOS 10.4.11, which means I will need to upgrdae from my G4, etc.) any other suggestions?
    Thnx
    Chris

No. Likely something that affects all apps
System preferences >> print & fax >> make sure you have  printer selected in this list?
    Flush Cache
    delete users\(username)\library\preferences\com.adobe.mediabrowser.plist
    Permissions
Run applications >> utilities >> disk utility and repair permissions.
    OnyX
Download onyx from apples site for your OS version and do the cleaning tab.
Did you recently add any strange fonts, that may be corrupt?

  • InDesign Buttons Fail to Launch

I'm struggling with InDesign buttons.  I am attemping to hide an answer under one button, and reveal it by clicking on another following these steps.
I created the No. 1 as the button to click and reveal the response to the right of it.
I created a text box for the text to the right of the No. 1
Created the larger text box half hidden by the photo I have pulled to the left, which will be revealed when the 1 is clicked
Created the photo as a "cover" over the text box
Clicked on the single line of text, created a button with the characteristics
    on release
    normal
clicked the check box "hidden until triggered"
Clicked on the large text box and created a button with the following characteristics
    on release
    normal
clicked the check box "hidden until triggered"
Clicked on the 1 and created a button with the following characteristics:
    on release
    show or hide
    single line of text
    normal
    on click
    animation
created an animation to fly in from right
    on click
    on click
    show or hide
    large text box
    click
Clicked on the photo and created a button with the following characteristics
    on release
    show or hide
    large text box
    normal
    on click
    animation
created animation for photo to fade out
    click
When I preview the animation, the large text box never appears. I had the same problem to begin with, with the single line of text, and the fix was to change from flying in from the right to fade in.
I spend hours every time I start one of these "animations," and sometimes I find the choices I made changed after I left the menu; other times, I find it will work if I select a different animation; sometimes, I wait until the next day and start it all over.  It's really frustrating.  I have yet to get the "swoosh" animation to work. Has anyone encountered these same problems?
I'm a very new user, but I have watched every YouTube and read every tutorial I can find on these buttons. Nothing seems to be helping.
I appreciate any help you can give me!
    Thanks.

  • Indesign CS3 hangs when launching - I have found a temp solution

I upgraded to snow leopard and ran into a problem straight away with Indesign CS3 hanging when I tried to launch it.
I have done some searching round the web and noticed a large number of posts stating the same.
I noticed, upon starting up for the first time in 10.6, that snow leopard asked me to install rosetta to run suitcase fusion v12.0. Out of curiosity I shut suitcase fusion down and tried to launch Indesign and I got a result. It launches fine and doesn't seem to suffer any crashes. It leaves me without a decent font manager but will allow me to get through the next few weeks until an update gets released (if apple puts some pressure on adobe)!
    Hope it helps!

    Hi RebeccaWooWah,
Please check "Applications" folder, you would see a file named "Adobe".
Kindly delete the file, as it is corrupt.
Create a folder "Adobe" in Applications folder, issue should be fixed.
    Thanks,

  • Indesign cs3 will not launch.. (I don't use Trusteer Rapport)

I am running Vista ultimate 64bit. For nearly 2 weeks I have not been able to get Indesign, dreamweaver, illistrator, etc. to open.
When I click InDesign and I get the glowing circle for about a second, then it just stops. I do not use Trusteer Rapport and I have tried to re-install but ID and Dreamweaver, etc. still won't launch. Please help me before I lose it!
I called Adobe yesterday, after being on hold for 35 minutes and another 20 minutes of getting registered some foreign guy told me since I was using cs3 I had to purchase a contract for $40 just so they could help me. since they only offer support for cs4 or some ****.

    Anything in the event log?
Try running this command from Run: “regsvr32 jscript.dll” with the space, but without the quotes. Sometimes javascript isn't properly registered at manufacture. It won't hurt anything to do this again.
I don't like to tell people to reinstall, but it might be the thing to do in this case. Did you let the installer use the default directory? That's very important on Vista 64.
If you decide to reinstall, uninstall, then run the clean script (Using the new CS3Clean Script) and reboot without any antivirus or spayware scanners, no IM, no browser toolbars, and nothing else you don't absolutley need before running the installer again. The CS3 installer was prone to errors.

  • Indesign (CS3) no longer launches

Hi folks, I posted this on the CS forum, but it may be better here....
I'm having trouble with a couple of the CS 4 programs (indesign and photoshop). Neither program will now launch, the PC in question is about 10 days old, so everything should be cleanly installed (win XP, Adobe CS4 design standard).
    I get the following messages:
    Indesign
    "AMT Subsystem Failure"
This product has has encountered a problem which requires that you restart your computer before it can be launched.
If you continue to see this message after restarting your computer, please contact either you IT administrator or Adobe technical support for help, and mention the error code shown at the bottom of this screen.
    Error: 1
    http://www.adobe.com/support
    Photoshop
Some of the application components are missing from the Application Directory, Please reinstall the application.
Needless to say I've tried a few restarts, but I really don't want to start messing up my lovely new PC by re-installing stuff already! From a quick read around the internet, it appears these may be 'features' of Adobe software. Do I really have to re-install everything, and will I have to be doing this every week?
If anyone can offer advice I would be grateful, are these problems likely to be linked? Is this a feature of the Adobe licensing system? Will this be happening regularly? I've found many mentions of this issue on the forum/internet, but now useful solution from Adobe (and this problem appears to have been around for some time now, so presumably they aren't doing anything to fix it).
    Thanks guys,
    J
PS...I should add that I have just checked out FLEXnet Licensing Service and it is NOT disabled (but set to manual as it should be)
    PPS
I've just done a reinstall of CS4, it made no difference.
Should I uninstall, *then* reinstall this time? Should I just visit the priate bay?
    Thanks

I'm suddenly getting this "AMT Subsystem Failure" message.  I've been using CS3 without any problems for at least a year and I haven't made any system changes for a while so there is no ready explanation why this error message would suddenly appear.  I was using Dreamweaver CS3 yesterday and it was fine.  The only thing I've done today is install a java application used to bid in eBay.
I visited the adobe forum for MacOS related to this problem and the adobe support article ( http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/402/kb402004.html )
says to enure that all Adobe and Flexnet services are running and I checked this in my admin tools - > services and they're fine.   I really dislike it when software vendors like adobe tell you to re-install your whole bloody suite.  It's a real cop-out on their part.   I will keep looking for a solution to this stupid and annoying error message.

  • DW CS3 fails to Install in Vista Home Premium

    Hi,
My new DW CS3 disk will not install DW to my Vista Home
    Premium machine.
I am looged on as admin. I have tried the suggestions on the
support page. Disabled norton, Disabled Google toolbar. Tried to
weed out incomplete Adobe files etc.
Starngely older Adobe apps, Premiere Pro and After Effects

found no way to do this with the CS3 disk.
A forum search uncovered no new ideas. Two other DW support
    forums have been fruitless also.
I need this to run ASAP.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

If that fails to solve the problem, then I recommend you
    contact Adobe
directly and use one of your one-on-one support incidents.

  • Indesign CS3 will not launch - windows 7

    Hi,
I tried starting indesign last night but when I clicked on the launch icon on my task bar the icon glows I get the egg timer thing but nothing happens. I restarted the computer and it worked ok.
Then I tried it this morning and the same problem occured, however no amount of restarted helped this time. Windows did do some updates last night, but it seems that the problem was there before. I've searched on the internet and found a peice saying to restart in safe mode and launch it there, then flick back to standard mode and it should be ok.
When I did this the indesign loads but with a Error 148:3, and closes. Restarting, in standard, nothing has changed. I did some digging on the 148:3 problem and found an adobe fix, this has not worked either.
I have done nothing to the computer recently other than attach a new monitor (and can't really beleive that would be the cause)
I running windows 7 with the latest update.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks

    Hi,

  • InDesign CS3 crashes upon launch

Other applications in CS3 launch fine. Anyone else have this problem?
    (Windows XP Media Center Edition)

Davaa,<br /><br />First, "bla bla" isn't too helpful, even with standard error messages. I suspect this one asked if you wanted to try to recover again or delete the recovery data. Since recovery isn't working, you need to delete the data.<br /><br />You can do this manually if necessary, by going to the folder at \Documents and Settings\<User Name>\Application Data\Adobe\InDesign\Version 4.0\InDesign Recovery and deleting anything you find there. That should allow you to restart InDesign, but it won't recover your unsaved file. Since it is listed in the error as "Untitled" there will be no file anywhere else on your system for you to access to attempt to recover that work (unless of course you actually DID save the file as Untitled) so that work will be gone forever.<br /><br />This kind of problem is often related to either a bad font or bad graphic file that you placed, very often in .eps format, which might give you a clue about where the problem originated.<br /><br />Peter

  • InDesign CS5 fails to launch after installing update

    Hello all,
I've attempted to update InDesign CS5 to v7.0.4 from v7.0.2; install log below.
Upon launch, I get multiple errors with the following warnings (see screen grabs in sequence) followed by a crash.
Does anyone have any idea how to resolve this? I'm running a Mac OSX v10.6.8; 2.93 GHz Intel Core i7; 8GB Ram
    Thank you,
    Damion
[Installation log deleted by forum host]

Please don't post long files here. Instead upload them to http://pastebin.com/ and post a link.
Your crash report would be more instructive (links only, please!).
But it sounds like your installation is busted.
Uninstall, run the Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool, and then reinstall.

  • Converting InDesign CS3 document to HTML - windows vista premium

I have created a beautiful (for me) document that I want to post on several blogs. I have been told it needs to be in HTML but I do not see any options on the file menu to export as an HTML. What do I do.
(I tried exporting it as a PDF and then providing a link in the blog but the problem is that it is a large (3mb) and it takes a "long" time to load, and if any of the links are accessed, when you go back to the PDF it has to reload which is frustrating for anybody that wants to study the document.

    Arthur,
You can't export the document directly to HTML, but you can use the Cross-Media Export to make and XHTML file for Dreamweaver (or other editor). It will generate an HTML page and a blank CSS style sheet, as well as gathering the images, but web and print are entirely different formats so you won't have anything resembling your ID doc when you get through, as far as layout is concerned. If you want people to see your layout as is, you need to use PDF. Try changing the compression settings for the export to bring the size down, but it will be a compromise somewhere most likely.

  • Indesign CS3 refuses to load

Hi, i would be grateful for any advice if you have experience of the same.
My problem is that indesign CS3 refuses to launch all of a sudden.  About two weeks ago it just wouldn’t (and still hasn’t) loaded.  When i click on the application the spinning donut appears beside the cursor as if it is going to load, but no splash screen appears. and then the spinning "donut" next to the cursor disappears.  If i then start my task manager i can see that indesign.exe is running and if i try to open indesign again another occurrence in task manager will load and so on.  THATS IT, any ideas please?
i am running Vista 32bit.  the software has worked fine for at least a year and then it just refused to load.  All other creative suite applications run fine (although i am scared to say that due to their temperamental nature).  I haven’t actively installed any updates for any adobe programmes or windows updates prior to the problem either.  The only thing i can think i have installed recently is a new version of iTunes and that’s it.  I am up-to-date with service packs and updates for vista too.
i have repaired indesigns installation - No joy, i have uninstalled, rebooted and reinstalled indesign - No joy.  i have also removed the registry entries and data for indesign in the "user app data folder" for indesign when uninstalling and still no joy once re installed.  its driving me mad.
Please note i have spent the last 2 weeks trawling and i mean trawling Google and the adobe forums for advice.  i have tried many suggestions but am open to any you have to offer, i just want to avoid people thinking i am coming here without researching myself first.  i did try one suggestion which is where you start the machine in safe mode and see if indesign cs3 loads then, which it does, but once i restart to the full usual mode - nothing
Thanks in advance, i appreciate any useful advice
    Matt

    Hi Peter,
i have noticed the following -
i have two user accounts on my PC (running vista).  One being my personal one and the other being an Admin account (i set this up as i had to do something that required permission - i forget what now - http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/enable-the-hidden-administrator-account-on-wi ndows-vista/).  If i log into the admin account i can launch Indesign as intended, "one click and open".  However it still refuses to load in my personal account.  i cant see how any updates etc wouldnt have been applied globally - so whats the difference?
I know that probably doesnt help much but thought you may have seen similar or in the past or it may help you identify my problem from past experiences?
    Thanks
    Matt

  • InDesign CS3, Objekte lassen sich nicht auswählen

    Hallo,
