InDesign CS3 Server - Support for Standard ECMA-357, ECMAScript for XML (E4X) Specification

Does InDesign CS3 Server fully support the XML standards outlined by ECMA in 'Standard ECMA-357 ECMAScript for XML (E4X) Specification'?
http://www.ecma-international.org/publications/standards/Ecma-357.htm

Thanks Michael, for your prompt reply.
I can see that some of the XML library/functions are available in the ExtendScript Editor - but I just wanted to make sure that I'm not missing something.
Thanks again,
Carl

  • InDesign CS3 Server  - Enterprise Solution Options

    Does InDesign CS3 Server offer an option to run several, separate instances on multiple, dedicated servers - each configured with an unique IP & port number?
    Basically - has InDesign CS3 Server built-in capabilities (mode/configuration options) to distribute and handle server requests to multiple server nodes (external, physical boxes)?

    There is currently no built-in support for distributing server requests across multiple server nodes.

    Hi,
    I Have windows server 2003 Ent. Edition. with sp2. & Dot net 2.0.i have installed Indesign CS3 Server & its installed completely but when i run indesignserver.exe it shows error that "indesign server not configured properly".& if i start indesign server service this shows error ...."indesign server service not run on Local computer"......
    then i found that indesign server service needs Dot Net 2.0 SP1 so i haev installed that too but the same problem found.
    plzz help me out to run indesign server. i need this as soon as possible.....
    Thanks

    As you know CORBA is all about distributed architectures. So your approach should work. We put the notes in the documentation because we did not test the configuration you are using. Though there shouldn't be any problems, we just didn't feel comfortable claiming support for this configuration without testing against it.

  • How to download latest InDesign CS3 Server Installer?

    Hi there,
    Anyone can help me point to the right direction, how to download the latest InDesign CS3 Server Installer (without the error).?
    been looking for couple of days in this adobe site, but nothing found.
    Thank you.
    Regards
    Jimmy Harjadi

    I would guess you'll need to contact customer service. CS3 products are no longer posted as demo downloads. InDesign server is a licensed product, and presumably if you bought the license you were given media or a link at that time. If you've lost that, Customer service would be th only ones who can help.

    Hello there-
    I'm trying to install InDesign CS3 Server on Windows Server 2008 R2 64BIT (x64) Edition, however, we get a failure indication on the installer. Before, we have installed it properly on Windows Server 2008 R2 32BIT (x32) but some how we cannot proceed on a x64 box.
    Is there any limitation on this sense? Any documentation about it?
    Thanks and appreciate your answers.

    Hello,
    Have you followed these recommendations from the installation guide ( Installation Guide u2013 SAP Content Server on Windows 2008 ) :
    Note: In the IIS 7.0/7.5, all the roles are not selected during the installation by default,
    Please make sure all the below roles are included and IIS 7.0/7.5 is installed.

    Note: There is a File Upload limitation in IIS 7 on Windows 2008 Server, IIS will reject any file that is
    larger than 30 MB. This is a default limitation of IIS. You can increase the maximum file size by
    setting the parameter maxAllowedContentLength in the file ApplicationHost.config.
    The following command can be used to set the parameter from the command prompt, please
    change the directory to Windows\System32\inetserv and then execute the command.
    appcmd setconfig /section:requestFiltering/requestLimits.maxAllowedContentLength:150000000
    The value is only an example, in this case the upload limit is set to 150MB.Server has to be restarted
    after execution of this command.
    Also, are you using Maxdb to store the files or is it a "flat files" content server  ?

  • [IDS CS3]A Bug of InDesign CS3 Server?

    Hi, all
    I'm using SOAP to run InDesign CS3 Server scripts, and I found TestClient doesn't work with option "-server". When I want to run a file on the server machine, it always returns an error number 44 to me.
    My same tests on InDesign CS2 Server work fine, so I think it maybe a bug of InDesign CS3 server.
    Anybody also working on InDesign CS3 Server? Thanks very much!
    Nicole

    I am using InDesign CS3 Server and testclient.
    I can use -server parameter with testclient, it works fine.
    I don't know why you cannot.

  • Using InDesign CS3 Server / Flex / AIR / SOAP

    Hi All,
    I want to build a user interface for InDesign Server with FlexBuilder. I have built a test project that works well if InDesign Server and the Flex program are located on the same machine. I press a button in the UI and then via the RunScript command a JavaScript on InDesign Server is started.
    But when I try to run the same on two different machines the Flex project returns with an error, so as if InDesign Server isn't there at all. For SOAP I use the IDSP.wsdl from the SDK. I have changed the address localhost to 10.0.0.33, but that seems not to be enough to make SOAP work. Maybe there are other keys in the IDSP.wsdl that must be edited. Does someone have an idea or an example ?
    Wolfgang

    I am having success across machines using http:
    var ws:WebService = new WebService();
    ws.loadWSDL("http://123.45.67.890:12345/service?wsdl");
    ws.endpointURI = "http://123.45.67.890:12345";
    ws.RunScript(params);
    Note that I have to explicitly set the endpointURI to override the "localhost" default contained in the http version of the WSDL.
    Also note that the port number is required.
    In addition, you may need to change security settings:
    Assuming your swf is local, set your swf's sandbox type to "localTrusted" by setting security permissions for your swf:
    Use Global Securtiy Settings Panel, and add your IDS machine to the list of trusted URLs
    OR, add a config file to FlashPlayerTrust on the local machine.
    Here's a great article:

    Hope this helps,

  • I'm new to indesign cs3... trying to make a book for art project,,,

    i have cs3 & i'm trying to paginate my pages - i've cut the images up in photoshop so that when it's printed out i can bind it correctly.
    when i try to place the jpgs or pdfs into InDesign, it won't let me do it. "place" isnt an option when i go to "file".
    when i try to add an image, it wont let me select it.
    what am i doing wrong?
    should i have not done it in photoshop?
    if not, how do i open up my scanned images in indesign? drag&drop doesn't work!!
    HELP it's my final major project due in this week.:(

    >yes i had created a new book document
    Just to clarify. Making a new book is not actually making a new book, it's not acutally making a document at all. It makes a book palette in which documents (chapters, sections, etc.) of your book will be managed once you've made them and added them to the palette.
    Just because you're making a book doesn't mean need to use the Book feature. Even very long books can be single documents (I just wouldn't advise it). The Book feature adds some functionality to long documents, but mainly it's just a good way to break them into manageable pieces to make them easier and safer to work in.

  • Is Indesign CS5 Server support multithreading plug-in development?

    Thanks
    Qamar

    Hi Peter,
        Thanks for update.
         Ok i can try with my priavte thread with help of core c++ but some things must need to look as
         1.Generally will do the development with help of ID apis.
         2.And due which i have to pass some baisc apis of id that i have talked about updating links.
         3.So is i can handle the apis in  my private thread or it only non id apis code to made multithreaded.
    Things are clear to me but just a little point that for developing id plug-in i need to be in/out flow with id apis and our development code.
    How can figure out this?
    Thanks

  • Parser similar to Actionscript 3(Standard ECMA-357)

    Hi i've used the xml parser in Actionscript 3 extensively and i'm wondering if there is a similar parser i Java(it seems to be kind of a jungle)
    Edited by: Kribba on Oct 25, 2007 1:59 AM

    I don't know anything about that parser. But Java comes with a compliant XML parser built into it. Unless you have some special requirements for parsing you could just use that.

  • How to download InDesign CS3 Debug (non-Server version)

    I have downloaded and installed the InDesign CS3 SDK and can generate a Release build of a plug-in and get it to load and work in InDesign CS3, but as indicated in the doc, building the Debug configuration of a plug-in and trying to get it to work in the Release version of InDesign CS3 does not work. So, of course, I want to download and install InDesign CS3 Debug so that I can load and run the Debug configuration of plug-ins. But I cannot find a way to download InDesign CS3 Debug anywhere. I find a link for downloading InDesign CS3 Server Debug but not InDesign CS3 Debug (non-server version).
    Can someone point me to the InDesign CS3 Debug download?
    Thanks

  • Where can you find free InDesign CS3 templates for newsletters, or free editable examples of good newsletters in the InDesign format?

    I am looking for free newsletter templates or free editable examples of good newsletters made using InDesign CS3.  Anyone know of a great spot for finding these?

    That would make sense if it opened a template folder but it opens the most recent Bridge folder I had open.
    Edit: Just tried it again and the template folder came right up. Thanks.

  • InDesign CS3 replaces unavailable Fonts

    Hi,
    we have InDesign CS3 server running. The server renders Preflight PDF. If a layout uses a font that the InDesign Server doesn't know, the InDesign server replaces the unknon font with one he knows.
    Is there a way to tell the InDesign CS3 server which font to for replacing an unknown font?
    Thanx for ur kind help.

    I am having this same problem with the Windings font and CS3, the bullet (opt-8) does not show properly. The Bullet in Windings looks like a "Target" instead all I get is a rectangle box that is highlighted pink (highlighted pink like when a font is missing..)
    The file looks fine in CS2 but doesn't when opened in CS3 on the same computer with the same fonts loaded at the same time (i.e. document is open in CS2 & CS3 side by side).
    I can get the character to display properly if I use it as a Bullet (Type-Bulleted & Numbered List.)
    The character doesn't display in the window but if you manually ad it as a character then it will display in the document properly where used as a Bullet but still will not display properly if used in just straight typing.
    I also removed as many fonts from my system as posable, Windings was the only font activated in Extensis Suitcase Fusion v. 12.1.6. Turning Suitcase off made no difference either...
    I did notice that Adobe InDesign CS3 loads fonts from this location when it starts (Library-Application Support-Adobe-fonts), if these fonts are not managed what keeps them from having a font ID conflict with another font? I did remove as many of these fonts as posable and it still made no difference with this problem though.
    I had a problem like this with another font but I can't remember now what one. Thought it was a bad font at the time, although the file worked fine in CS2.

  • [CS3][JS] page.place(...) works for pdf, not for snippet

    Hi all,
    I'm having some problems with the page.place(...) command on InDesign CS3 Server.
    When I try to place a PDF on a page, it works perfectly. I can see the PDF on the document.
    But when try to place a snippet file, it gives me a very strange result.
    There is a frame on the document where the snippet should be placed, but it doesn't contain anything. You also cannot see it unless you select it.
    I can move the frame around, but not resize it.
    But when I copy and paste this frame, the newly copied frame does contain the contents from my snippet.
    When I try this on my desktop version it works correct, but not on the server.
    Here's the code I use:
    //set measurement to pt, just to be sure
    myDoc.viewPreferences.horizontalMeasurementUnits = MeasurementUnits.POINTS;
    myDoc.viewPreferences.verticalMeasurementUnits = MeasurementUnits.POINTS;
    //place the snippet on the last page
    myDoc.pages.lastItem().place(new File("c:/mySnippet.inds"), [170, 400]);
    I managed to solve this by using the PDF place instead of snippet, but at a later stage I will have to use snippets, so it would be great to know what I'm doing wrong.
    Regards,
    Dany

    Hmm it seems that the snippet is placed on the first page, but for some reason, the coordinates are so wrong that it ends up on one of the following pages. that's wy I cannot select it.
    I attached the document, it's hard to explain.
    You can see two pages, all seem empty at first sight.
    When you click on the first page and do a ctrl-a to select all items, you can see that there is an item selected on the second page.
    Remarkable is that if I use the same code to place a pdf, the pdf is placed at the correct position on the second page.
    Is there something wrong with the coordinates when placing snippets, or am I doing something wrong?
    Dany
    Edit: I can't seem to reproduce this problem with a blank indesign file, which will probably make it hard for anyone to find the problem.
    Must be something else in the complete script that is causing this.

  • InDesign CS4 Server serialisation

    Hi guys,
    I'm installing a InDesign CS4 Server on Windows 2003 Server for Small Business Server, Service Pack 2. 4Gb available on C:drive,Intel Xeon 3.2Ghz, 4Gb Ram
    The machine had InDesign CS3 Server installed previously.
    1. Uninstalled InDesign CS3 Server
    2. Rebooted Machine.
    3. Installed CS4 Server
    4. Installed latest Rapid Release
    5. Setup Win Service
    and wondered why I wasn't prompted for the serial number at start of install. (ok, I hear you... should have read the read-me file first to see if anything in the installation process had changed...).
    So I stopped the ID-Service and then ran the command-line serialisation at this point.
    Checked in TaskManager no ID Server was running.
    However the serialisation hangs after:
    <pre>
    08/26/09 10:15:05 INFO  [server] Server Runnin/g
    </pre>
    And the serialisation process seems to launch two processes at this stage: InDesignServer.com and InDesignServer.exe.
    Which is right before this step... which is repeated twice and then the cursor just sits there... (doing nothing).
    <pre>
    [javascript] Executing File: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adob
    e InDesign CS4 Server\Scripts\Export As XHTML\XHTMLExportMenuItem.jsxbin
    </pre>
    Before back-tracking fully and doing a complete uninstall and reinstall (and this time serialising after step 3), I thought I'd check if anyone had come across this and has a possible clue as to what's going in.  Any help appreciated.
    At this stage I'm scheduling a full uninstall/reinstall for Thursday if things aren't resolved today (Wednesday).

    That looks correct - InDesignServer is up & running, waiting for commands, or a control-c to quit.
    InDesignServer.com is a shell app which launches InDesignServer.exe, so having both processes active is correct.
    Once you have successfully serialized (as it appears you have), you should be able to restart either via the Windows service or at the command line without the '-serialnumber' parameter.
