InDesign CS3 Silent Installation Language Issue

We install InDesign CS3 via silent Install following Adobe guidelines using Enteo Netinstall for the automatic deployment:<br />Setup.exe --mode=Silent --deploymentFile="dir\install.xml"<br /><br />Contents of the "install.xml":<br /><?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?> <br /><Deployment> <br />  <Properties> <br />    <Property name="INSTALLDIR">D:\Adobe</Property> <br />    <Property name="installLanguage">de_DE</Property> <br />  </Properties> <br /><br /><Payloads> <br />    <Payload adobeCode="{83FE8954-A543-4177-B0D1-E1BF9AB0DFB0}"> <br />      <Action>install</Action> <br />    </Payload> <br />  </Payloads> <br /></Deployment> <br /><br />Contents  of "Application.xml.override" at directory "payloads\AdobeInDesign5de_DE": <br /><?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <br /><Configuration> <br /><Payload> <br /><Data key="Serial" protected="0">xxxxxxxxxxxxx</Data> <br /><Data key="Registration">Suppress</Data> <br /><Data key="EULA">Suppress</Data> <br /><Data key="Updates">Suppress</Data> <br /></Payload> <br /></Configuration> <br /><br />Installation is running well, with one exception:<br /><br />For the user who installed InDesign, the Language of the UI is english!<br />It should be german instead and strangely, starting InDesign with other Userss in other windows Profiles the UI is german as wanted!<br /><br />What is going wrong?<br />Are we able to reset the language settings manually as a workaround?<br /><br />BTW: We already reset the preference file via SHIFT+CTRL+ALT at astartup, but it did not do the trick.

Purchased from Adobe itself in a retail box.
The installation was working on XP fine.

  • How to download latest InDesign CS3 Server Installer?

    Hi there,
    Anyone can help me point to the right direction, how to download the latest InDesign CS3 Server Installer (without the error).?
    been looking for couple of days in this adobe site, but nothing found.
    Thank you.
    Regards
    Jimmy Harjadi

    I would guess you'll need to contact customer service. CS3 products are no longer posted as demo downloads. InDesign server is a licensed product, and presumably if you bought the license you were given media or a link at that time. If you've lost that, Customer service would be th only ones who can help.

  • InDesign CS3 - Default Black color issue

    Default Black color converted as Spot color in Indesign CS3.
    I'm using default color "Black" in InDesign CS3. While creating PS from InDesign CS3 and convert it as PDF using Distiller 7 & 8, it would have changed as "Spot Color Black" instead of color "Black(CMYK)".
    Open the swatch and duplicate the color "Black" and renamed as "C=0,M=0,Y=0,K=100". It would work properly. i.e. output PDF has CYMK black instead of Spot color.
    We are unable to find/change globally because the Default color [Black] has both text and object.
    We do not have any problem with this default black color in Indesign CS2.
    It would be better if you provide a solid solution for this issue immediately. I need to send a test file to the printer on tomorrow (05/27/09).
    I have attached Testing.pdf and screenshot for your reference.
    Picture 1 shows the Default Black color converted as Spot color.
    Picture 2 shows duplicate black color created from Default [Black] color and we don't find any issue.
    Thanks
    Johnson

    First, this is a user forum, so all you'll get here is advice, not a "solid solution" from Adobe.
    Second, the current versions of InDesign and Acrobat are 6 and 9, respectively, and there will never be any new patches issued for earlier versions. Adobe does not divert effort away from current development to patch old software.
    This has been discussed here in the past few months. You should be able to find the thread if you search for keywords like spot black. For what it's worth, Acrobat 9 Pro's preflight does not detect a spot black in your sample PDF (though Pitstop might).
    I'm curious why you feel the need to distill PDF rather than export (as I see you did with the file you posted)?

  • Adobe Creative Suite CS3 - Adobe Indesign CS3 Debug: Installation on the same PC?

    Hi
    Is it possible to install Adobe Creative Suite CS3 and Adobe Indesign CS3 Debug on the same PC?
    If yes how can I do that?
    I have tried it but if I install the debug version there is a message that I can't install it because there is a conflict.

    Hi All,
    I'm hoping someone can help me :S
    I have designed a card measuring 210mm x 74mm. The printer has asked me to impose as head to head, 5mm double trims and bleed. I have no idea how to do this and seem to be wasting my time tring to google it. Trouble is I am trying to impose 4 pdf's into the 1 indesign file and when i export it as a pdf i can't see any trim mark/crop marks surrounding the edges of any of the 2 files (apart from the corners of the pages). I've probably just confused the hell out of you now but if you can help me I would really appreciate it. If I need to clarify anything please let me know.
    Thanks in advance!!

  • Finishing an Indesign CS4 Silent Installation

    Hi, I'm successfully able to do an unattended installation of InDesign CS4.  However, after completion, the command-line window just sits there and stares at me with the exit code.  Is there any way so that the command-line window will close automatically?  This is going to be a part of a package installation and I need it to close out so that it moves to the next component (InCopy CS4).  Thanks in advance.

    I'm sorry to hear you are having trouble. I've only done the download once,  and if memory serves running the exe is supposesed to unpack the installer and deployment folders, which I seem to have done in a sufolder of the directory where I stored the .7z file and .exe. Burning them to a disk will not work -- they need to be on your hard drive.
    What size is the downloaded .exe file that you have?

  • Premiere Elements 11 silent installation language code parameter?

    Documentation instructions (see below for Premiere 10) followed. Still prompting users for Country/Region when installing with the /UL1033 parameter. Did Premiere 11 shelve this? Is there another way to pre-select the country/region? Installs perfectly otherwise. Thanks for any help.
    To start the installation, right mouse click the Windows “Command Prompt” utility, select “Run as administrator” and navigate to the location containing the OEM.exe file. Type the following line with the appropriate modifications:
        start/wait OEM.exe /UL%LangCode% /V“SERIALNUMBER=%Adobe volume license serial number%”
    Replace %LangCode% with the appropriate four-digit language code:
    Brazilian Portuguese= 1046
    Chinese Simplified= 2052
    Czech= 1029
    Dutch= 1043
    English= 1033
    French= 1036
    German= 1031
    Italian= 1040
    Japanese= 1041
    Polish= 1045
    Russian= 1049
    Spanish= 1034
    Swedish= 1053
    Turkish= 1055
    Replace %Adobe volume license serial number% with your 24-digit Adobe volume license serial number.
    Note: Be sure to include the dashes in the serial number.
    Example: If the path to your OEM.exe file is C:\ Adobe Premiere Elements 10/Adobe Premiere Elements 10 - 64 Bit\, your language is English and your Adobe volume license serial number is 1111-1111-1111-1111-1111-1111, then your command is
    C:\ Adobe Premiere Elements 10/Adobe Premiere Elements 10 - 64 Bit> start/wait OEM.exe /UL1033 /V"SERIALNUMBER=1111-1111-1111-1111-1111-1111."

    jaojr1962,
    /UL1033 parameter is for setting the uninstall language and not for setting the country. So, the country dialoue would come on launch.
    Adobe gives out these instructions to its OEM/enterprise users. If you're an OEM or an enterprise user of PSE/PRE, could you please contact Adobe through your respective point of contact? Adobe would be able to provide you a solution which you'd be able to use to avoid the country selection dialogue if you pre-configure it correctly.
    thanks.

  • InDesign CS5 7.0 Silent installation?

    Dear all,
    in our Company we use the Altiris Deployment solution for packaging and automatic deployment.
    We need to create a silent installation of Adobe InDesign CS5 (7.0).
    Our machines are running Windows XP SP3.
    The installation should be in language german, without an serial (trail). The serial will be inserted
    after installation from our IT-Department. All components have to be installed with the automatic
    setup.
    The folder structure from the setupfiles is the following:
    --deploy
    --packages
    --payloads
    --resources
    -Set-up.exe
    Could someone tell me which commands I have to use to install the files? I think I will also need
    an customized "install.xml", is that right?
    I am looking forward to get some answers soon.
    best regards

    I've tried all the advice given to date, but the ID CS5 version 7.0.4.553 crash continues to occur on start up only on one user profile with error message EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGBUS).
    It looks like others have had a similar problem, but theyve been able to resolve it by copying over their preferences from an earlier version of ID, but I don't have earlier versions on this computer, so I'm out of luck.
    I doubt copying over preferences is ever correct. There are no documented cases that I know of where copying preferences works and deleting them does not.
    Essentially every crash gives an EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGBUS) error. You need to inspect the stack trace for anything that is specific to yours. In your case it references a ProtectiveShutdown, so consult the ProtectiveShutdownLog file in the InDesign Recovery folder for more information.
    You deleted all of these?:
    ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe InDesign CS5
    ~/Library/Caches/Adobe InDesign
    ~/Library/Caches/com.adobe.InDesign
    ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign

  • Programatically determine installation location for InDesign CS3, CS4, CS5, AND CS5.5 (Windows)

    We build plug-ins for all versions of InDesign from CS3 and later, for Windows and Mac.
    To deploy our plug-in(s) on Windows, we use InstallShield, which has a somewhat complicated mechanism to locate InDesign.exe and determine its version so we know which plug-in(s) to install, but basically, the location is determined (via the RegLocator table in InstallShield) based on this registry setting:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\InDesign.exe
    This has been working fine for all versions of InDesign since CS2.  However, that location is apparently no longer set by the InDesign CS5.5 installer.  So, we need to find some other way of programatically locating InDesign CS5.5 with our installer.
    I've searched the registry of a machine with InDesign CS5.5  installed, and there are other registry entries related to InDesign, but those  entries are not set by earlier versions of the InDesign installer.  Ideally, there would be a registry setting, or some other reliable marker we can use to locate the InDesign installation, which is consistent across all versions of InDesign (at least back to CS3).
    Using the registry setting is something we came up with on our own via  trial-and-error, since, as far as I know, there is no documented way to  locate the InDesign  installation folder.  (Our Mac installer uses a simpler mechanism to locate InDesign by the application name and version number.)
    I find the apparent lack of documentation on this a bit ironic, since just about every other aspect of the SDK and the methods for creating InDesign plug-ins is extremely well documented, expect for the last final bit one needs to know to get to the promised land of actually deploying a carefully crafted plug-in to customers' machines.  (This seems to be true of the Acrobat SDK as well.)  However, I could have just missed the relevant documentation, in which case, please point me to it.
    So, is there a recommended way to programatically  locate the InDesign installation location on Windows?  How are other people doing this in their installers?

    Hi Dan,
    this is the InDesign plugins SDK forum, you need the installer forum....
    Just kidding. I use a really hacky piece of VB to install my plugins while I'm developing...
    here's the bit which works out the folder depending on which version I'm compiling for.
    That gives you the gist anyway, and I imagine that most installers are going to do more or less the same thing, except they'll have short cuts ways of getting it.
    There's probably a better way, but this works for me...
        Private Function DiscoverApplicationFolderFromName(ByRef strApplicationName As String) As String
            Dim strApplicationSignature As String
            Dim strDefaultPath As String
            If (g_strCreativeSuiteVersion = CREATIVE_SUITE_5) Then
                ' special case for CS5, because a debug machine might have CS5 or CS5.5 or both installed.
                ' plugins built with the SDK for 5.5 will not run in CS5 apps
                strApplicationSignature = strApplicationName + ".Application." + CREATIVE_SUITE_55
                Dim strInCopyPath = DiscoverApplicationFolderFromSignature(strApplicationSignature, "")
                If (strInCopyPath <> "") Then
                    g_strCreativeSuiteVersion = CREATIVE_SUITE_55
                    Return strInCopyPath
                End If
            End If
            strApplicationSignature = strApplicationName + ".Application." + g_strCreativeSuiteVersion
            strDefaultPath = "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe " + strApplicationName + " " + g_strCreativeSuiteVersion + "\" + strApplicationName + ".exe"
            Return DiscoverApplicationFolderFromSignature(strApplicationSignature, strDefaultPath)
        End Function
        Private Function DiscoverApplicationFolderFromSignature(ByRef strApplicationSignature As String, ByRef strDefaultPath As String) As String
            Dim strApplicationPath As String = DiscoverApplicationPathFromCLSID(strApplicationSignature, strDefaultPath)
            If (strApplicationPath = "") Then
                Return ""
            End If
            Dim strDirectory As String = Path.GetDirectoryName(strApplicationPath)
            ' Get rid of the trailing Debug because this depends on whether we install the Debug or Release version first or second.
            ' It will be added on again if we're using a Debug Configuration
            Dim strDebugTag As String = " Debug"
            If strDirectory.EndsWith(" Debug") Then
                strDirectory = strDirectory.Substring(0, strDirectory.Length - strDebugTag.Length)
            End If
            Return strDirectory
        End Function
        Private Function DiscoverApplicationPathFromCLSID(ByRef strApplicationSignature As String, ByRef strDefaultPath As String) As String
            Dim strApplicationPath As String = strDefaultPath
            Try
                Dim strKey As String = strApplicationSignature + "\CLSID"
                Dim regKey As RegistryKey = Registry.ClassesRoot.OpenSubKey(strKey)
                Dim strGUID As String = regKey.GetValue("")
                regKey.Close()
                If IsRegistryVirualized() Then
                    strKey = "Wow6432Node\CLSID\" + strGUID + "\LocalServer32"
                Else
                    strKey = "CLSID\" + strGUID + "\LocalServer32"
                End If

            Catch ex As Exception
                LogMessage("FAILED DiscoverApplicationPathFromCLSID: " + strApplicationSignature)

  • Booklet issues with InDesign CS3 on Mac, and Xerox WorkCentre 7655 booklet maker

    I'm having several booklet making issues I'm hoping someone can help me with.
    I am on a MacPro, OS X Leopard, InDesign CS3. We have a Xerox WorkCentre 7655 that has booklet making capability. The network server is a PC with Microsoft 2003 server on it.
    The booklet I am making uses two 11x17 trays - one for cover stock for the cover and one for regular 24 lb paper for the insides. The layout is single pages rather than spreads - spreads did not work at all.
    From InDesign using the printer, the cover pages come out backwards and mirror image. The inside pages are upside down and on only half the page. I did not not InDesign file/booklet because that seemed to create even more problems with the Xerox booklet settings, and I don't know how to try InDesign booklet and not the Xerox settings.
    I tried making a pdf and printing booklets from that. On the Macintosh, I can't figure out how to tell it the pages are 11x17 so it keeps giving me an error that the printer is waiting for 8 1/2 x 11.
    I actually did get the booklets to print properly using the pdf file and a PC, but any gray graphics came out lilac. The text was black, and the covers were the correct colors - only the inside graphics were the wrong color.
    I hope this makes some sense - I really need help. I've tried everything I can think of. I spent a lot of time with Xerox 1st and 2nd level support, and they have washed their hands of this. So I'm posting here hoping someone has some ideas.
    Any other information anyone might need for this issue? Thanks so much.

    I have a similar machine configuration and have had many issues printing to an HP 9500mfp. Pages rotate, mirror, 2-sided both print on same side. I've lost the "bookletmake" function. Jobs will not recognize paper trays (meaning I have to manually tell it which paper tray holds the tabloid stock). I've tried using the "Page Setup" dialog box to no avail. On occasion, I can get some of the features to work with a pdf printing from Acrobat. Sometimes, that doesn't work either - never with any kind of predictability. Printing to the HP 4700 is more reliable. I've downloaded the updated "Leopard" compatible driver from HP, but it fixed no issues. When I tried contacting tech support for HP, the replied that this is an OS issues and not with equipment, leaving me SOL.

  • NM7.1: Regarding Software Package Silent Installation Issue

    Dear Experts,
    I am working on NM7.1, & I tried of creating a Software Package which will include MI client installation, JRE, MaxDB, MCD all in one. For this I zipped MaxDB folder which I downloaded from SMP & uploaded it to NWA, created a software package from NWA 7.1, downloaded it & tried installing it. It executed properly.
    Now I wish to create a Software Package which can be installed in Silent mode.
    For this, I went through NM71 help documentation & maintained JRE components  Silent Command Line Parameter field value as - /qn ADDLOCAL=ALL IEXPLORER=1 INSTALLDIR=<Drive:>\java\jre.
    Other components like MaxDB doesn't allow to maintain this parameter field value in NWA, neither MCD nor SETUP_WIN32.
    So I downloaded this Software package & clicked on MassDeviceSetup_Silent.bat file for silent installation.
    It started of & installed JRE but later it didn't proceeded further. I kept it running for almost 2 days, but then too nothing happened further.
    I have attached the StandardMDSLog file at below link for your reference, please analyze it.
    http://www.4shared.com/file/258992320/317aef7c/StandardMDSLog.html
    I feel that I am missing something.
    Please guide me further....
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Stephan,
    Thank you very much for your notes.
    This issue has already been fixed in AccAD 2.2.

  • Adobe Air installation status issue via silent installation

    I installed adobe air silently, then installed an adobe air applicaiton silently.  Everything works, and I can launch the application.  However, if I use the status check via air.swf file it has the "available but not installed" and it can't retrieve the version of my air application.  Once I double click on "any" .air file, it launches the non-silent installer, and I don't have to even install or update the app, just lanching the iapp nstaller non-silently seemed to correct something.  From then on air.swf statu now returns "installed" and it can read the version of my app.  Can anyone tell me what's going on and how can I correct this?

    Ok, I understand.  So before we continue, we really need to figure out what the exact error is.  Can you, on at least 2 systems, generate the MSI logs we'll need?  Here's a document that explains how to enable logging and where to find the logs once they've been created:
    How to enable Windows logging
    Once you've enabled logging, try installing again.  Grab the newly created msi logs and either post here or email me at [email protected]  I'll examine the logs and see if we can find a common issue between the systems.
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • Dose Indesign CS3's Data Merging List not surpport double byte language?

    Please help?
    Dose Indesign CS3's Data Merging List not surpport double byte language? But Indesign CS2 works well with Chinese Language!
    Thanks
    David

    I just did a test, in IDCS3 with a mixed English/Traditional Chinese/Simplified Chinese/Korean tab-delimited text file, and after some coaxing, it worked like a charm.
    1) I did it with a Unicode-encoded tab-delimited text file. When I went to "Select Data Source," I checked the "import options" box so that I could specify that the text file was Unicode. (What encoding is your data merge source file?)
    2) When I hit Preview, I realized that I'd set the generic form letter in a font that had no Korean support, so I had to select an appropriate font with Korean glyphs. (Are you using a font in ID that has Chinese support? I assume so.)
    So, yes, Data Merge works with Chinese characters. I didn't test it with csv, but I will if you're stuck using it. If you're starting with an Excel file, it's not hard to get it to spit out a tab-delimited Unicode text file.

    Incorporated in San Jose, CA.
    I'm an english user using Windows XP SP2.

    Various Urdu fonts.

    I need to have all the Urdu words in correct manner (right to left) in Indesign CS3.

    I have read over and tried to 'save as' from .xls to .doc and place it in Indesign CS3.
    Problem 2:
    I was able to place the Urdu words from .doc into Indesign CS3 and still, the fonts will read from left to right.
    Please help.
    Thanks a lot!
    Rgds,
    Ms. Dela

    If you need CJK support
    *and* RtL Support, you're out of luck! :(
    The Asian version doesn't have RtL support, and the ME version doesn't have CJK options. You can't install both on the same machine, and a file created using ME options can not be opened on a non-ME version. The only course of action would be to set the CJK options using a CJK version, and then bring the file into an ME version (on a different computer).
    If it's only a small amount of RtL text, you can try using reversed text in the non-ME version. There are various scripts which can reverse existing text.
    Good Luck!
