INDesign CS3 won't install

I've been searching threads for days now and nothing i try works
I am trying to install CS3 on a G5 Mac, OSX 10.4.11. I have CS on this computer, tried the CS4 trial, decided to stay with CS3 which I am had on a deceased computer that din't have any Adobe on it except things like reader, and whatever comes with the Mac OS. When I try to load, I get everything but INDesign won't install. Tried multiple time, tried it on another computer (a G4) with similar history and the same result. I've done an uninstall on INDD4, I've cleaned preference files, tossed Colorsync profiles. At first, when I tried to install i would get an message asking for theINDD4 disk. I got rid of that when I dumped the color sync files. and now it installs everything except INDD. I'm afraid to try the clean script.
What do you suggest?

Hi Mylenium
After updating the adobe license didn´t work any longer for the
second time, since I bought. First time CS3 cleaning tool was the
solution. But this time it is not possible just to open the
CS3cleaning tool document(PDF)- not with adobe reader, also not with
foxit for example. I removed all adobe stuff to install again, but
installation doesn´t work for  the important components- photoshop
etc. At first also adobe reader didn´t work (System told me, to
install photoshop before:-) But after some deinstallation and
reinstallation now just the new downloaded adobe reader X happily
works again. Only solution to reinstall the whole system?? (medion
professional PC, windows vista 5,0 - 2 GB, 32 Bit)
     Thank you for help

  • InCopy / InDesign CS3 - won't load software but appears in task mgr

We are going through a computer upgrade and am trying to install Adobe CS3 InCopy and InDesign on these new machines.
We purchased HP 6005 Pro PC's with AMD Athlon II processors and are running Windows XP operating system.
Installing both pieces of software goes though fine.  But when you try to turn on the programs, nothing happens.  Nothing loads on the screen.  The only thing shows that the software is running is in the Task Manager.
We have plenty of memory, plenty of hard drive space.  But we can't figure out why the software won't load onto our screens.  After extensive research online, the only thing we can find is that there could be a driver incompatibility.  Nothing conclusive on whether our processors are incompatible either.
Does anyone have any insight on the issue?

We are installing and using the software under the administrator logins.
My main concern is that we purchased computers that have a processor that is incompatible with Adobe InCopy/InDesign CS3.   We purchased two types of PC's, some with AMD Atholon II processors and some with Intel Core2 vpro processors.  InDesign/Incopy CS3 were going to go on the Intel's (more power computer) and the InCopy was going to only go on the AMD's.
Prior to receiving the CS3 versions of the software, I hadn't been aware that was the version we were being assigned by our corporate office.  After looking at the requirements of CS3 on the adobe site, it only mentions Intel Processors as basic requirements.
(We purchasd the computers with AMD's to save some money....the users requiring InCopy didn't need "as much computer" as the InDesign users).
Could the processor be the problem?

  • InDesign & Dremweaver won't install

I had a Dreamweaver trial and an InDesign CS3 upgrade on my computer that I trashed after buying the whole Creative Suite Premium the other day. When I went to install the programs from my disc everything downloaded fine...except those 2. In the installer's upper dialog box both inDesign and Dreamweaver are gray with type in captions that says "already installed"...which is impossible. I can't click the boxes to install them and they wont reinstall. This is so bizarre. Has anyone had this problem or know what to do?

you need to uninstall the CS3 apps trashing just won't work anymore.
What you need to do now is run the CS3 clean script.

  • Indesign CS5 won't install

    Background:
I had been using InDesign CS5 for a couple years on my Win7 Ultimate x64 machine.   A year and a half ago, I reloaded the OS and didn't reinstall InDesign as I didn't need it then.  It's used for a once-yearly project near year-end. My InDesign CS5 is the Pagemaker upgrade, - the install is from the download file gotten via the download manager when licensed from Adobe in 2010. I think it had updated to CS5.5 during that period but I don't have any files to install CS5.5,
    Problem:
Tried to re-install it now, and the installer fails.  It accepts the serial number but does not complete:  ***I've attached the complete list of error messages at the end of this post.  I've tried the install multiple times - initially with all the InDesign bells and whistles, then reboot and retried, and then again after rebooting a second time with none of the InDesign extensions chosen (thinking maybe one of those might be the cause) but no changes in symptoms.
    Discussion:
I am thinking it is either something fundamental with InDesign CS5 conflicting with some Win7 update since the time when InDesign CS5 worked, or an interaction with the other Adobe products.
Other Adobe products on the machine:
Added after the time InDesign had worked
Lightroom 3.6, Lightroom 5.7, and Adobe DNG converter.
Had been on, back when it all worked fine:
Photoshop CS5, Dreamweaver CS3, Acrobat 8 Standard and Adobe Reader XI.  Helper apps are: Bridge CS3 and CS5, Extension Manager CS3 and CS5, Extendscript Toolkit 2 and CS5 and Device Central CS3 and CS5.
Any help and suggestions would be most appreciated.  Thanks in advance for your help.

Sorry I didn't get back with you.  Thanks for your help.  I tried using compatibility mode - no change.  Needed to then go through your CCleaner process.  Uninstalled everything, did the CCleaner and then reinstalled in release order (most recent versions last).   At that point, all the programs worked fine but would not update.  To get update working again, needed to find the link to the current standalone Application Manager exe file.  Ran that and now all is right as rain.
    Thanks again.

  • Indesign CS6 won't install on Windows 7 64bit via GPO

    Good afternoon,
I created a installation of Indesign CS6 with application manager enterprise 3 to deploy to computers via the active directory.
It installs correctly without issue to Windows XP x86 machines however won't install to Windows 7 x64 machines.
When the computers starts it trys to install but fails and proceeds to the login screen.  The following information is left in the Windows event log.
Has anyone else had this problem and more importantly know how to solve it?

    Hi Abhijit,
I am able to install InDesign CS6 manually on the machines from the CD/DVD however when trying to install it via GPO or running the msi using the msi exec commands it doesn't install and leaves the above errors in the event log.
The installation was made using the same CD/DVD and the installation works on the Windows XP clients and software other than InDesign CS6 will install to the Win 7 64-bit machines via GPO.
    Cheers,

  • Both Indesign CS3 and CS6 installed on the same PC?

Is it possible to have two Indesign versions [CS3 and CS6] installed on one desktop PC [running Windows XP]?
I would only use one version at a time. The problem is I’ve been working with [and would like to continue working with] freelancers who still use CS3; but I’ll soon be hiring others who have migrated to CS6.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me on this question.

Thanks for the reply. I’m far from being a sophisticated user of Indesign. I do export .indd files to PDF on occasion. As for  colors, I occasionally use the swatch tool, although I couldn’t tell you the difference between RGB and CYMK. Hopefully I could make adjustments to the CS3 version for any slight changes incurred by installing CS6 on the same PC.

  • Dreamweaver CS3 won't install on eMac

I installed the Adobe Creative Suite CS3 but Dreamweaver won't install. I have an eMacPowerPC G4. Why does it always unsuccessfully install? I'm installing from my employer's DVD which is licensed for employees to install for home use.

You might have better luck if you take up this question in Adobe's own forums:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/forums/
    Good luck.

  • Premiere CS3 Won't Install

I'm finishing the build from Hades. I followed the Matrox system recommendations, apparently they had an easier time than I did. I finally resolved my issues with my video card, now Premiere and Encore won't install!
System Info: Tyan Tempest 5400 (socket 771) motherboard, two Xeon Quad core E5450 CPUs, one ATI Radeon Sapphire HD 3870 1 gig on-board ram, two 2 gig FB DIMM 667 RAM sticks. Software version Premiere Pro CS3.
I'm fairly certain I've met the minimum system requirements - I followed one of Matrox's highest system builds (at the time). The version of XP I bought already had Service Pack 2. As far as I can tell, I've loaded all my drivers. I have two separate 1 TB drives (7200 RPM). My DirectX version is 9.
The install process for both Premeire and Encore appear to proceed normally. The summary screen simply notes:
    "Successfully installed 2 component(s):
Adobe Preiere Pro CS3 Third Party Content
    Shared components
    Errors: 2 component(s):
    Adobe Premiere Pro CS3
    Component install failed
    Shared components
    Component install failed"
I bought my RTX2 last summer, but building my house, technical diffulties with my system and my mother's death delayed getting this unit assembled.
I tried uninstalling using add/remove programs, with the same results.  I also tried using two different DVD drives.
I started a post on the Matrox forum site.  It looks like I have them stumped...
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

OK, you've got a "clean system," and I assume that you have not had a "trial" version of CS3 installed on it, right?
I'm going to throw out some ideas on Adobe program installation. These are distilled from various Adobe fora. Some might NOT apply to PrPro, but many might.
1.) download and install the lastet Adobe Flash Player (some Adobe programs need it to install properly)
2.) download and install the latest Apple QT Player (some PC users get by just fine without it, but a few Adobe programs want to see it.
3.) download and install the latest video and audio drivers. Update any firmware.
4.) turn OFF ALL anti-virus, spyware and pop-up blockers (including any in IE, if you have it, or any other browser). Also turn off
         Windows Messenger and Windows Indexing.
5.) make sure that you are logged-in as an Administrator
6.) as you got an installation error, I would Remove both Adobe programs (Add/Remove Programs) and also run Adobe's CleanScript. I think that
this might be better than doing a Repair Install, though you can certainly try it first.
7.) if it still fails, try an installation from a Safe Mode boot. I *think* that this will only work for PS and Illustrator, and NOT for PrPro.
8.) if it still fails, and I hate to even suggest this - remove the Matrox card and all drivers, and try again. Given your efforts to get the box up and
running WITH the Matrox, I'd use this as a total "last resort."
Good luck, and I hope that something, prior to #8 works for you,
    Hunt

  • InDesign CS3 won't open after upgrading to Leopard.

I'm having an issue starting up Indesign CS3 since upgrading to Leopard. It seems like everything else has been working great, including the rest of CS3, so I'm kinda baffled as to why this doesn't.
When I open it, after loading for a few seconds, I get this error:
    http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/255/picture1lg9.png
    Any ideas?

WOOOO HOOOO! IT IS JUST A FONT CONFLICT!!!!! I think....
After days of trying to figure out why, after installing Leopard, InDesign CS3 crashes every time I tried to open "certain" files... I finally figured it out - at least on my system. I emphasize "certain" files, because InDesign would open certain InDesign files flawlessly... and crash when trying to other InDesign files. I narrowed it down to a handful of files and the only thing that these files had in common was one particular font. Well as it turns out, upon installation, Leopard put a bunch of new fonts into my system folder. I am also using Suitcase Fusion to manage my fonts. When starting the "culprit" files, Suitcase Fusion would try to "auto-activate" a font that was already activated at start-up in the system folder. After removing the "duplicate" font from my system folder - and restarting my computer - everything was back to normal seems to work fine now. Upgraded to Yosemite, reinstalled legit CS5 InDesign successfully, need to download the upgrade to 5.5 for essential "shared content" plug in... the update won't install "update is not applicable" error w no serial code request, just doesn't install. Indesign 5.0 was working fine, i just need a couple extensions

    you can update cs5:  http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/
but you can't upgrade to cs5.5.
you can upgrade to cs6 or cc (for money).

  • Adobe cs3 won't install on Windows 7(32-bit)!

A friend of mine finally convinced me to install Windows 7, and he had good reason to. This OS really lives up to the hype thats been going on...but, Im having trouble installing an ESSENTIAL program(s) to this great OS, Adobe CS3 Design Premium. I installed Windows 7 (32-bit) from a DVD, with the product key, which I think is the "clean install" Ive been hearing about. I read something that says Windows 7 doesn't recognize a certain file associated with Cs3, maybe thats why it wont load. I attached a screen shot of my system specs, if it helps. But this is what happened.
    - When I insert the software DVD, the autoplay feature pops up, then Windows "User Account Control" asks me if I want to allow the changes.
    - I click "Yes," and then the "Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium" window pops up and gives me the option to: Install CS3 Design Premium; Install Adobe Acrobat 8; and Browse CD.
    - I choose "Install CS3" and then a window "Initializing Adobe Creative Suite 3 Design Premium" with a progress bar.
    - The bar fills up, but when it finishes nothing happens.
I checked the tasked manager and see that, that adobe setup.exe is running somehow, but nothing happens. I have search on Adobe forums and google for possible solutions, but nothing has worked so far. I have tried:
    - Runnning the setup application from the DVD (in Adobe Design Premium CS3 folder) as "Administrator"
    - Ran "wincs3clean," to remove any existing adobe programs from the system.
    - Ran ccleaner, to fix/repair any registry problems or anything else.
    - Tried copying the content of the DVD onto the desktop and run it as Admin.
    - Used the command.exe (as admin) and ran the "regsvr32 jscript.dll" and "regsvr32 vb(something)"
    - Ran Windows 7 in "simplified" mode, where I disabled any services/processes from interferring with the setup, through the msconfig feature.
    - Cleared the Windows temporary files, as this was a solution for Vista, I thought might work.
    - Tried updating my drivers, everything was uptodate.
    - Called Adobe Technical support, waited about 30 mins, and then was told "Adobe does not support Windows 7, so the install may or maynot work." (They could help if they wanted to).
    - Tried restarting in a previous version, to see if it would install, but the admin password that I had before isnt working now for some reason.
Ive seen reports of people having Adobe CS3 installed on Windows 7 and working fine, so I know its possible. Its just frustrating that I cant get it to work. Somebody (bodies), please help me. Let me know if there is any other info needed. Ive struggling with this for some time now.
    Thanks A-Mil in advance,
    Gary D.

i am having very similar issues and after working on this for days i'm ready to trash all Adobe products..   i've been in DP for 35 years and have never had this much trouble with anything - ever.
i migrated to a new machine using windows 7 from and XP machine.  i used PCmover to port applications and all are working just fine except my Adobe CS3 products.   When i try to open them i get some sort of message about catastophic licensing problem and the product immediately closes.  i'd detail the error but it's only up for about  4 milliseconds before it disappears.
so i tried reinstalling CS3 and it loads the autoplay just fine and then i click on 'install adobe cs3' icon and see the progress bar moving for about 2 secons and then that disappears and then NOTHING.
so i found suggestions about using the CS5 cleaner tool and ran that bout it didn't even find the application..
so i went to control panel and clicked on 'uninstall' for CS3 and it seems run for about 3 seconds and then NOTHING..
so i installed a windows cleanup tool that was recommended but that's been retired by Microsoft because it caused other problems so i didn't run it..
short of formatting my hard drive and starting over installing over 50 apps on my new computer, i'm at a loss and so extremely frustrated with Adobe that i am willing to learn another set of programs to replace them and to tell the world.

  • Indesign CS3 won't open

My Indesign CS3 suddenly started giving me problems when I tried to open it. I have used it for a year or so with no problem. Now, when I click to open the program, I get the moving donut (on Vista) that indicates processing is taking place, but after about 5 or so seconds, it just disappears and there is no further response from the computer. If I repeat this it will sometimes open (I have had it happen after about 5 to 30 attempts) and then the program runs fine.
I discovered, however, that each time I click to open, a process is started (taking up about 11 MB of RAM (but no application appears in the Windows Task Manager). After mutiple attempts at trying to open the program it starts to run out of RAM and I have to close some of the processes to continue.
Does anyone have an idea what is happening and how I might overcome it? All the other modules in my CS3 suite run fine. I'm running Vista Ultimate with full updates and CS3 V 5.0.4.

    Hi Matt,
I'm sorry, but I haven't got a fix. I declined the suggestion to do a System Restore since I don't want to spend the time (and risk the possibility of other problems occurring) without a more convincing diagnosis. I have been burned by such suggestions in the past when trying options without a good account of why it might help.
My current work-around is to keep trying to open by repeating the double-click on the Indesign icon until it opens. This means double-clicking, then waiting a while, and if it doesn't open, repeating it until it does. After InDesign (finally) opens, I open the Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del), go to the 'processes' tab, search for all the Indesign processes that are NOT the one that is open then stop each of them one by one. You can tell which are the ones that are not open since their indication of memory is around 11K and it is unchanging. The open program takes up more memory than that and it changes.
Sometimes I have had to try to open Indesign with more than 30 tries, but eventually it opens. I have found that lately it opens after only 1 to 5 tries.
I'm surprised that they haven't diagnosed this problem yet - and set up a fix, but until this happens I guess I will continue this way until something more dependable comes up.

  • Adobe CS3 won't install - could classic be an issue?

I had forgotten I even had classic until this morning on the phone with Adobe Tech Support. Problem is: Adobe CS3 will not install. My case now has been escalated to Tech Level 3, and I am awaiting that call. In other words, many fixes have been tried already, including a new disk Fed-Xed here. Anyway, I was just thinking.... what if some small component of Classic is causing this problem? I absolutely do not need it. If one of you wonderful experts thinks this might be it, I also would need to know how to uninstall it. (All the other questions in this forum seem to be how to make it work.) Thanks for reading.
PS The reason I thought of this was the Adobe Tech (Level 2) guy had me check every font to make sure none were locked. (None were.) We also repaired permissions and did the CS3Clean script several times at the Level 4. (I have to do all this all over again every time I try to install and it fails.)

For the record, this was the solution: Leopard was installed (clean) on this computer, and CS3 still wouldn't install. An Apple certified person tried many things after that. Spent about 8 hours and was about to give up. The idea that finally worked was to install the suite on a different hard drive and then "migrate" it to my hard drive (whatever migrate means). It was a truly horribly experience, and I am not anxious to do business with Adobe again.
