InDesign Cs4 Bleed/Slug not scaling with reduced print?

Maybe I'm crazy, but I feel certain that when I've printed my layouts in the past, Indesign scaled the bleed and slug along with the rest of the page when I printed at a reduced size.
Today, I can't get the bleed or the slug to output in relative scale to the document. i.e. a 20" x 32" poster with 1/8" bleeds and a 2 inch slug on top is being printed at 50%. In the Print preview box, it shows that while the page is being reduced properly to 10" x 16", the bleed is still 1/8" and the slug is still 2 inches, not 1/16" and 1" as I would have expected.

Sorry, miskeyed and hit the return key before I finished my thoughts:
Am I wrong in thinking that InDesign usually scales bleed and slug with the page? Am I mis-remembering?
If not, what is causing the odd non-scaling of bleed and slug?

I understand you have a Photosmart C6180 that you're having issues using in Mac 10.9. I'm sorry to hear this has been happening, but I will certainly do my best to assist you.
I'm wondering how you installed the printer. If you had it installed prior to upgrading to 10.9 that could be part of the problem. There are currently no HP drivers available for this printer for 10.9, so you need to uninstall the HP software and install the printer via the Apple updates. Once you do that you should be able to print normally and scan using 3 different methods.

Hi,
I require some asisstance with my Photosmart eStation C510a. The zeen will not sync with the printer, and I cannot seem to connect it with the internet. When I first installed this printer, it was fine, both the zeen and printer were connected and in sync.
An update was automatically installed by H.P. which appeared to create a problem with the zeen , being unable to sync with the printer, the zeen also lost the internet connection. The printer is working fine, and responds to the zeens commands for printing,
scanning and copying, but I would love to have the internet connection from the zeen, whereby I can use it for emailing etc.
Is there anyone out there that can help?

Suddenly I cannot print from firefox. It was printing one day and would not communicate with the printer the next.

I cannot print from Firefox either all of a sudden. Maybe first thing in the AM, it will print something but then, that's it. I am running OX 10.5 too and using Firefox 3.6.8. I am ready to stop using this!! I like it but it is frustrating. I am on my mac all day for work and cannot find a solution to this Firefox problelm. Maybe Mozilla can help me. Anyone have any answers? I use a HP Laserjet 2300L.

InDesign CS4 Help--Toolbar not showing, can't type or do anything.

So I downloaded the trial version of Indesign CS4 on my computer, and when I opened it there was no toolbar, and I basically cannot type anything on it etc. . .
I looked through some older posts on the forums and people suggested uninstalling it and then reinstalling. My only fear is that since this is a trial version I thought that after uninstalling the program it wouldn't let me reinstall the program since I already had my free trial.
Does anyone have any other suggest on how to fix this or know if uninstalling it will still let me use the trial version when I reinstall it.

What OS are you using? Do you have a way, such as System Restore on Windows, to go back to before you installed the trial? If so that would be a possibility for trying to reinstall. make sure you disable any anti-virus or other security software before do a new installation, and though I haven't seen any problems personally installing CS4 with other stuff running, you might want to diable anything else that isn't strictly required for you system to operate. Lots of things, like the add-on browser toolbars adn instant messengers were know to interfere with CS3 installations, but I don't use that stuff on my systems so I have no experience one way or the other withthem in CS4.

I'm trying to embed sound in InDesign CS4, but its not working

I tried to use file, place sound and also with a interactive button, apply the sound, but when I browse for my mp3 file it just wont let me selected.
I open the mp3 file to make sure was not damage and it worked just fine.
If this feature of adding sound exist within InDesign CS4, why I can't use it?

InDesign CS4 page numbering not displaying correctly in Pages Panel

Hello,
I searched the forums for a solution to my problem before posting. I am sorry if I'm doubling someone's question but here I go:
I noticed this problem I have about 6 month ago. When I create a simple document with automatic page numbering everything is fine. When I try and create a section (i.e. I want my numbering to start at 1 at page 3) it actually works however in the Pages Panel the pages are displayed with their basic numbers. You will agree this is rather confusing. I've tryed different files, same files on different computers and so on. The problem has to do with my installation of InDesign CS4 and I suppose it's some kind of a display option I accidentally turned on.
Could someone please suggest a solution? Thank you!

Export a pdf in Indesign CS4 grayscale cropmarks not register

I export a high quality pdf from indesign CS4 and I noticed that my crop marks are coming out in grayscale not register.

Yes I have pro. When I look at preview I see what you are talking about. Its weird. When I have acrobat open and click the crop mark pitstop tells me the crop is grayscale but when I go to the preview window the crops are there in each color

Indesign CS4 Help Menu not working Mac OSX 10.6.7

Hello.
The InDesign Help menu is a great thing. Use it every day.
I use it most to find commands that I cant remember the keystrokes to. I activate the menu and start typing "find font" or whatever.
The menu finds alternatives. So far so good. But when I want to choose one alternative, all that happens is the system error sound plays.
Does anybody know how to fix this?

Exporting to PNG, Stroke Weight not Scaling with Export Scale

Hi there
I am having some issues exporting illustrator documents to multiple sizes of PNG.
I am actually scripting this, but the issue seems to be more general - hence the posting here.
If you export a PNG through the web and devices tool:
File->Save for Web & Devices
And you scale the image by 50%, the line weight does not seem to be scaled with the export scale.
In Illustrator->Preferences->General I have Scale Strokes and Effects ticked.
This problem is also apparent when scaling a scripted PNG export through the ExportOptionsPNG24 class.
Is there anything I am missing please - or does anyone know of workarounds?

I can't post the illustrator file in question to the forum.
And, you are right, when I aim to make a demo file from scratch I can't reproduce the problem either.
I am having this difficulty on multiple files though, and they are all quite complex.
I will aim to try and make a file that shows the problem.
The files in question may have symbols that were created in much earlier versions of Illustrator.
I'm not sure if that could do it.
The sequence above shows the output as I export via script to successively smaller scales.
This is by setting the horizontalScale and verticalScale in ExportOptionsPNG24.
I see the same results if scaling in Save for Web & Devices.

InDesign CS4 Package command not collecting all images

OSX 10.5.6 - InDesign CS4. Packaged a magazine document which has 56 links. Destination folder only has 14 of the links. Fonts collected OK. What is going on? I redid this 3 times and it still only collects 14 of the links. Thank you.

InDesign CS4 (6.0.6.622) crashes on print, Mac OS X 10.6.8

I've been following some similar threads but they mostly have to do with Mac OS X Lion.
I have three users at my site with this particular issue: InDesign CS4 crashes when they need to send the job to print. The crash reports are almost identical for all three users, so I will only post the crash reports from one user's computer:

SInce I am only here for a few days, I had to ask the System Admin if there had been any upgrades (software/hardware) performed before 7/28 (the oldest date of InDesign crashes). Does the crash reporter only keep a certain number of crash reports? The most I found in one of the affected computers is 16 items (oldest being 7/28).
There is some Apple mechanism that ages out crash reports, I think it does so around 60 days. But Adobe also logs the crash reports in a second place, in ~/Library/Logs/Adobe/LogTransport/Archive/ and I do not believe those ever expire.

I think this means that the user tried to close the document and InDesign detected an internal consistency error, where some portion of InDesign was still referring to the document it was trying to close, but it could not determine why the reference count was higher than it should have been.
However, the crashes don't happen at random, but only when they try to print or export to PDF (now).
Sorry, I think I was unclear.
What I meant was that from the perspective of the crash reports, the crashes look random. I realize they are all happening from printing, but normally when you have consistent crashing in InDesign (or anything else), it will crash in the same place in the program.
I suspect you will have to engage Adobe for assistance on this. However, I fear they may just tell you to upgrade to CS5.5...

Print preview not opening with File Print command in CS4

I have been printing fine until recently, but now when I choose file > print in Photoshop the print preview pane does not open. The menus gray out, but that's it. If I select print from other programs (I checked Preview and Acrobat) the print dialog appears. I am working with CS4 11.0.2. on OSX version 10.6.8, printing with an Epson 2200. I tried deleting and re-adding the printer. I haven't installed anything new recently that might interfere.
Your help would be much appreciated!

Try a different printer driver to see if this has anythign to do with the .ppd used by epson 2200, try even adoeb pdf.
Reset your preferences.
Cmd-Opt-Ctrl-Shift when restarting AI on a Mac to reset to the defaults.

InDesign CS5.5 Documents Not Working with Drive 4.2

I am using CS 6 and Adobe Drive 4.2 (4.2.0.110) on Windows 7 with the CMIS adapter against an Alfresco v4.0.0 repository. When I double-click on an InDesign CS6 file in windows explorer, it opens in InDesign. I see the "up-to-date' status icon in the lower left in InDesign. I can edit the document and successfully check it back into Alfresco. When I try the same test case using a CS 5.5-created document, the "up-to-date" icon does not appear and I can't version the document in Alfresco.
These two documents reside in the same folder and were created by the same user in Alfresco. They are both simple documents that only contain text boxes; no external links.
The AD4ServiceManager_java.log file contains the following and was deleted before trying the CS5.5 test case:

they are Right it checks to see that the OS name is Windows XP i assume and it finds the windows but NOT the xp so it just assumes it is 98.... just my theroy

Photoshop cs4 trial will not intall with setup exe

can anyone help i have downloaded the trial version of photoshop cs4 and extracted the files to an external hard drive but i cannot intall it on my computer when doulbe clicked on the setup exe file nothing happended it just opened it up and place a file on in the folder called ahmed or something like that can anyone help me with this problem i have plenty of disk space and plenty of ram. i am running windows xp professional and i have administrative privalages.

Bridge is not tied to any restrictions in terms of activation or requiring specific components to be in place, hence it almost always works. Do you correctly run the install with administrative privileges?
