InDesign CS4 don't run after installation

Before installation of InDesign CS4, InDesign CS, InCopy CS3 and Bridge CS3 runs normally.
After installed, InDesign CS4 don't run, and crashes (during 'Initialising application") with this log:

Adobe support says this is a problem on the OS; Microsoft says the problem is on the application. I paid for Adobe product and cannot use it.
I tried to update InDesign CS4, but this don't solved the problem.
Acrobat 9 Pro and Photoshop CS runs normally.
And I'm desperate. Please help.

After months of numerous attempts and frustration, I applied Microsoft KB958869 and... InDesign CS4 now runs fine. And I'm starting a new life after two decades working happily with PageMaker.

John, I've runned this script as root. Then executed as oracle the runInstaller script. Today I've also acquired the 64bit version of the 8.1.7. The problem persists the same. So I'm presuming that there's nothing wrong in installing a 32bit oracle product over a 64bit AIX system. Right now I'm stopped at the installation process, waiting for an assistance. I've activated the 64bit mode on AIX 5.1, and started the installation again. I'm having a lot of error messages about some "makefile" at the ins_rdbms.mk script file. Don't know what to do!

Now the demo website opens and the initialisation process is running without completion and I can see only a gray applet box ..
I installed the Jinitiator new without success.

Photoshop cs 4 wont run after installation on mac book pro

I recently brought the adobe design premium package with flash, illustrator, indesign, photoshop etc...
after installation all other application works but just photoshop, it just wont start at all...
it will pop up on the deck for a second or two and just disappear. the progra wont run at all. other applications like illustrator, indesign etc... all work just fine but just not photoshop... i dont get it what's wrong. no error or anything. just pop up and then disappear.
the spec of my macbook pro
mac osx 10.6.2
2.53 ghz intel core 2 duo
4 gb 1067 mhz ddr3

So have you done the basics?
Toss the PS folder and run the installer again?
Run the updater from an app you can open? (this will update all)
etc...

I'm not sure that I completely understand what your issue is. Are you
trying to launch a BAT-file after the installation of an application?
In that case, I will recommend you to refer to the following

If the methods in this KB doesn't work, please let me know.

InDesign CS4 will not run under Lion

I have InDesign CS4 and Design Suite CS3. All my other CS3 apps run under Lion. The Upgrade to Lion failed leaving my internal unbootable, so I installed and migrated to an external drive. But after the upgrade to Lion all of the other CS 3 aps run, IDCS4 will not run. I get the following message:
Adobe InDesign is missing required system fonts or CMap files. Please reinstall InDesign.
I used the uninstaller and reinstalled. No affect. I made the Library folder visible. No effect. I cant

I'm sure there are many more that are unknown.
FWIW, I highly recommend sticking with Snow Leopard for now and when you do upgrade, do so as a clean install.

InDesign CS4 crashing upon startup after migration to new iMac

I recently used Migration Assistant to move the contents of my old iMac that was running OS X 10.5.8 to my new iMac that is currently running OS X 10.7.3. Unfortunately, everytime I attempt to start up InDesign CS4, it crashes without giving me an error message. I previously could not start up Illustrator CS4 on this new iMac and I received this error message:
"Fatal error - missing component /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe Version Cue CS4/Client 4.0.0/VersionCue.framework"
and I was able to transfer the folder Client 4.0.0 to my new iMac and get Illustrator CS4 up and running.
What can I do to get InDesign running on my new iMac?

Because you moved many of the CS4 files onto your computer, you need to remove them before doing a new install.
There is an Adobe Cleaner tool which can remove components of the incomplete installation. Here is a link to it:

You won't be able to download CS4 from Adobe. They only have downloads of the current version. You didn't back up your original download?

Apps don't work after installation

I have downloaded Creative Cloud and successfully downloaded Photoshop and InDesign. They work when first downloaded, but if I leave my computer and come back later, they won't open. It keeps saying Error 11 and that installation components are missing. I have uninstalled and re-installed about three times now and the same thing keeps happening. How do I fix this??

You need to run the installs with sufficient user privileges and make your security tools behave. something is removing/blocking components, which could be due to your user not being allowed to make permanent changes to the system and system restore kicking in or an overzealous virus scanner running amok.

User crontab entries don't run after reboot until crontab is edited

I'm running 10.3.9 so I can't use launchctl for this.
I have a user on my system called backup. backup's only purpose is to take and store backups of some critical data on other local systems. I've written scripts that run from cron to take care of this, except it doesn't work after a reboot.
I've been careful with paths and all that but I'll include my crontab:
43 18 * * * ${HOME}/bin/backup-mysql
02 * * * * /usr/bin/printenv > /tmp/cronPrintenv.txt
When I boot my xserve, neither the printenv nor the backup-mysql command run at their scheduled times. The only cron-related activity in /var/log/system.log are root's jobs periodic daily, weekly and monthly.
After I notice the problem and edit and save the crontab by su'ing to the backup user and entering "crontab -e" and saving, even though I've made no changes, the backup user's cron jobs start up again, I can find the ouput from the printenv in tmp where I'd expect it, and my backup script runs fine.
Why don't these user cron jobs run after a reboot?

Has anyone discovered the answer to this? I'm dealing with a very similar issue here, getting a cron job to execute. In my case, it's actually a @reboot process, so it's fairly important to have it work when the machine restarts.

LV 8.5.1 Installer "run after installation" not executed in silent mode ; Autoupdate

Hi all,
I developed a software used "inhouse" by most of my colleagues. This software is changed continuously.
In the past I had to inform everyone that there's a new release available.
Thus I developed a "quick and dirty" autoupdate mechanism. (See attachments)
The application looks for a file located on our server, which contains the version number of the most current release.
If the version number of the installed software and the version number in this file differ, the Installer for the new release is executed.
In the Installer settings I run the installed software after installation finished.
So that the user doesn't notice there was an update and the software starts as allways.
The installer is started with commandline options to install in silent mode with surpressed License Notification und supressed restart.
The start of the installed software after installation works if I start setup.exe in "normal" manner (doubleclick setup.exe)
BUT the software DOES NOT start after installation when installed in silent mode. (Commandline prompt: setup.exe /q /AcceptLicenses yes /r:n )
(Tested with XP, Vista, 7)
Does anyone know how to get this working ?

Well, just checked - it seems to be works as expected in LabVIEW 2010 and doesn't work with 8.5.1 as you have described.
There are some bugs in installer's builder was fixed between versions 8.5 and 10.0.
What you can do - upgrade to latest LabVIEW version or try to fix installer manually. I guess trouble present in \bin\dp\install.msi file. You can check what inside of msi with Orcas utility provided by Microsoft.

Premiere Pro CS4 crashes on startup after installation (Win XP x64)

I've had no such luck getting PP working on Win XP x64, I've installed everything else and checked to make sure its working correctly from the master collection, but PP is giving me a hard time. After reading much of the other discussion on this problem, I have yet to find a solution that works for me, things I've tried thus far:
- Re-installing
- Re-installed fonts etc.
- Switched user accounts
- Removed Quicktime
None of these have worked, Adobe's error reporting tool is garbage I cant even read the crash report data, so I'm stuck......anyone have any good ideas throw them up here, otherwise its time to get angry with tech support....

Sorry to bump a dead thread, but I fixed OP's problem on my computer after doing pretty much all he had done. I signed up for anyone else that might be looking for a solution to this problem.
Browse to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Premiere Pro CS4"
Find "Adobe Premiere Pro.exe" and right click it and click on "Properties".
Go to the "Compatability" tab and check "Run this program in compatability mode for:" and select "Windows XP" in the drop down list. If you arent on an administrative acount, you may have to switch to it and select "Allow non-admins to run this prog". I tried this after reinstalling, changing the path, removing any registry entry I could find with "premiere" in it, and even trying to use a pirated version. Before you go pointing fingers about that, I get the entire adobe production and design suite for free thanks to my school, IUPUI (http://uitsnews.iu.edu/2008/12/10/new-agreement-makes-adobe-software-available-on-iuware/) and I needed it for an assignment. Protip, adobe: The pirated version actually launched correctly once, but after a system restart, crashed on start up like before. Just something to think about.

Indesign CS4 won't open after updating to Yosemite. How can I fix this?

I have a new macbook pro, just updated to yosemite, and I use the CS4 adobe suite almost daily. Photoshop, when I opened it, required a plugin which I downloaded and that works. Illustrator works fine, but Indesign begins to boot up, then crashes. Every. Time. I can't open anything. I know its not the latest version of indesign or anything, but shouldn't ID work too? Help me fix this! I use indesign more than anything else, and illustrator is not really going to be a good alternative for too long...

If you want Yosemite that badly, reformat the hard drive and do a clean
install of Yosemite followed by a normal installation of your software
using the original media…no migration.
You’ll have a much better chance of getting things working.

InDesign (CS4) takes focus back after switching to other program: very annoying

I am getting more and more annoyed by the fact that InDesign keeps taking back the focus after closing a document. I am working in InDesign (Mac OS X 10.6.4), I close the document and switch to (for instance) the Finder and suddenly I am back in InDesign again. It happens DAILY that I am doing something thinking I am NOT in InDesign anymore while I am there (again). For instance, it happens quite frequently that I want to open a Photoshop file and that I suddenly notice I am not in Photoshop but back in InDesign again. Even worse: it also happens that I get a dialoge and press No and find out I just closed another InDesign document which I didn't save yet because I thought I was in another program already...
In short: very annoying. What is causing this...? Why does InDesign keep focus? When I go to the Finder, I want to stay there and I do NOT want InDesign to become active automatically!
Anyone knows what is causing this and, more important, if there is a way to get rid of this annyoing behaviour?

I guess you mean when you have InDesign document open and you cmd-tab to let say Photoshop the Indesign document window is still accessible by one click even if Photoshop menu is active on the top.
This is solved in CS5 by "Application Frame" option.
What concerns the CS4 I do believe that this behaviour is simply how Apple OSX handles the document's windows, Not much you can do unless you will minimize all documents before switching to another app.

New Adobe InDesign CC (2014) crashes continuously after installation, shows spinning wheel. Have re-installed 3 times now, same thing.

We had to install the new InDesign CC (2014). InDesign CC (2014) crashes continuously. We have un-installed the app twice and re-installed again.
We have tried to install the previous version of InDesign CC but that is no longer (conveniently for you, nightmare for us) available.
Everytime we launch the new InDesign CC (2014) to actually do some work, this crashes. It has cost us 4 hours work since this morning!
This seems to be an issue a lot of people are having.
An update for any app should happen without any glitsches, otherwise your product is not fit for purpose.
We are all paying monthly fees to Adobe to be able to do our day-to-day work.
For that we expect to be able to use these tools without loosing time and money every time you are updating software.

We were not able to get any crash reports - that option not available; the spinning wheel was coming on and off, but nothing would happen and nothing could be done, but re-start machines.
Have cleared prefs files since, this a few times. Based on suggestions found from others having the same problems.
After clearing prefs files, worked awhile , then the same happened.

InDesign CS4 won't run - 'not supported on this architecture' error

Hi there,
I'm having a problem with InDesign and Flash (both CS4), installed as a bundle in one go from Adobe Master Collection discs, When trying to launch InDesign or Flash, I get a message that they are 'not supported on this architecture'.
I'm on a MacPro with 2x3GHz Quad Core and 4GB running 10.5.7.
All the other CS4 Master Collection apps have installed and run fine.
My volume is formated as Mac OS Extended (Journaled). Any ideas?
