InDesign CS4 - edit this scroll down menu?
Hello:
I am working on someone else's INDD file. How do you edit this drop down menu to original settings? I am not familiar with this feature. See attached screenshot for reference.
Thanks in advance.
That looks like Object Styles. You can select them and delete them directly in the panel, but you'd be far wiser to examine what they are set to do and use them.
Styles are the way you maintain consistency across your document and allow you to make a change in one place (the style definition) that will ripple through the entire documetn and change everything to which that style is applied.
I sense you are inexperienced, and this may be a more complex job than you are ready to tackle. Some training might be a good thing. Sandee Cohen's Visual QuickStart Guide to InDesing is an excellent beginners book, and you won't find better video training than Lynda.com.

I am using Illustrator CS4 and my drop down menu displaying different typefaces is no longer showing all of them, just blank spaces where they would be...that is unless I put my cursor over it and I can then see the typeface. This is more of a nuisance than anything and didn't happen until I updates OS X to Yosemite. I currently am operating OS X Yosemetie 10.10.2
I have attached a screen shot. You can see that the font highlighted as the cursor is over it I can see the preview...but one I move the cursor it appears like all the others in the list and is blank.
HELP!Solved using this previous users had the same issue; Font previews not appearing correctly in the character window after upgrading to Yosemite

Option for saving a file as a pdf is not available in scroll down menu
I've been trying to save a file as a pdf by selecting print but pdf does not show up for one of the options in the scroll down menu. All I have to choose from is Fax, hp psc 1200 series and Microsoft XPS Document Writer. I was able to do this back in November but don't know why I can't now. I have Adobe Reader on my computer.
Thanks if you can help.Thank you so much! I figured out that somehow my PDF creator was gone. I've downloaded it again.

How do I insert a font in Mail which is not in the Pref. scroll-down menu?
How do I insert a font in Mail which is not in the Pref. scroll-down menu?
I love Palatino, I have it bot in the System fonts folder, in the home/library/fonts folder and in the computer/library/fonts folder.
Yet, It does not come out.
Something else I should be doing?Keep in mind that if the recipient of the email doesn't have Palantino active on their computer, they're not going to see that font on their end. Their system will replace any instance of Palantino with whatever font is they have set as the default in their mail program.

Scroll down menu - Exercises - Feedback
Hello,
I would like to know how can I make a scroll down menu or to put another navigator bar (except of the basic) to every basic page, in order to go to second pages.
What I mean is, in the plan for exapmle I have Home page, Tutorial 1 ......................, I want when I press Tutorial 1, another menu to come up in which I can choose if I want to do exercises or the course. How can I do it?
Moreover, does anyone know how can I create exercises and the user to take feedback from these? The feedback can be points or a percentage of correct answers.
Thank you very much in advance...http://www.projectseven.com/

How can you authorise your windows vista computer to play stuff you downloaded from itunes??? I cannot get this drop down menu shown on your support pages whatever I do. I have been trying for ages. This is not a good first impression.
Authorize a Mac or PC
Review the following before you authorize a computer:
You can authorize up to five computers with your Apple ID.
You must authorize your computer to download past purchases, use Home Sharing, or use the Automatic Downloads setting.
You can play unprotected music that's in the AAC file format without authorizing your computer. This includes iTunes Plus tracks and content from sources other than the iTunes Store, like your audio CDs.
To authorize a computer, follow these steps:
Open iTunes.
Choose Store > Authorize This Computer from the menu bar.
You may need to show the menu bar to see this option in Windows. In earlier versions of iTunes, you can access this option from the Advanced menu.
Enter your Apple ID and click Authorize.
If your Apple ID uses an expired MobileMe account, you can still authorize your computer.
In some cases, iTunes may ask you to authorize the computer again. iTunes should use the same authorization as before if the computer is in your list of authorized computers.
Learn what to do if iTunes repeatedly asks you to authorize when you try to play your content.
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1420
Note : If you are Unable to see the Store Tab on your iTunes then click anywhere on your iTunes and press
Ctrl + B key on your keyboard once and you should be able to see the Store tab in your iTunes. -
DW CS4 Horizontal Spry drop down menu not displaying correctly in Internet Explorer 8
Hi,
I have created a horizontal Spry drop down menu in Dreamweaver CS4 with my own background images. I have done various modifications to the CSS script to accommodate the style and feel needed; including making the main buttons' height twice the size of the sub menu buttons and some alignments. It seems to work different depending which browser is used.
It works well in Google Chrome.
It works well in Firefox with the exception that if any of the buttons are clicked, thereafter a thin black line is diplayed horizontally across center of the top main buttons when the mouse rolls over them. I would like to correct this but is not nearly as bad as the problem I'm having in Internet Explorer 8.
Here is my biggest concern and I would greatly appreciate if anyone can shed some light on this matter.
Once opened in Internet Explorer 8 the main navigation buttons appear as they should. IE8 prompts me the following: "To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this webpage from running scripts or ActiveX controls that could access your computer. Click here for options..". Once I allow IE8 to run scripts or ActiveX controls, the background image disappears and only shows on any menu or submenu button when the mouse rolls over that particular button. Can someone please help.
The menu can be seen at work by clicking on this link:

SpryMenuBar.js
This file handles the JavaScript for Spry Menu Bar. You should have no need
to edit this file. Some highlights of the MenuBar object is that timers are
used to keep submenus from showing up until the user has hovered over the parent
menu item for some time, as well as a timer for when they leave a submenu to keep
showing that submenu until the timer fires.

Thanks in advance for any of your help.
Jose H.Hello Nancy,
I was troubleshooting For the next 8 hours after my post here and eventually I got it right, I uploaded the files to the test server and at the time did not have the chance to post the solution here. This is why, as you saw, it is working correctly now. Both the CSS and HTML files needed modifications. While working on the code I had to run IE8, Chrome and Firefox simultaneously and refresh all three after every change in the code because what would fix the problem in one would cause a problem for the other.
In addition to the problems listed in my original post, there were also other graphical issues in IE8, such as; the main menu buttons without sub-menus would only display at half their size vertically. The border around the buttons would not display despite that the background images were rendered in Photoshop as flattened JPEGs with boarders as part of the background image. Being so, I removed all borders from the CSS script.
By the way.. the IE8 security measure did pop up while working from the server.
Anyhow for those of you who are experiencing similar problems you can take a look at the working code bellow and compare it to the initial code. I've included detail comments on every line I have changed, modified or added.
Good luck.. as I know it can become a complicated task when creating custom Spry menus.

Why can't I find preferances in the edit tabs drop down menu?
Although I had Indesign CS6 for over a year this is my first time using it . I want to set the default page size to inches, instead of using Indesigns default settings. Following Terry Whites instruction From the video clip on YouTube I tried finding Preferances in the Edit tabs menu, But when I click on the edit tab I can't find preferances in the drop down menu. What am I doing wrong or what am I not doing. sombody please help me to change this setting. I know nothing about the measurement type that indesign uses as a default.
Thank you, For your answers.

I edited my Drop Down Menu, yet the changes arent reflected online
Hi everyone,
I created a website for a friend, and I used Drop Down Menus
for a image category. Now, I went back into the behaviors palette
in DW, and I edited the name of one of the items in the menu. But
when i uploaded my file back online, none of the changes took
place, and this was in 5 different files. Here's the site:
http://www.helenbwilson.com/
If you click on the "Portfolio" button, a drop down menu
should come out—but instead of saying "Godot and Mul." it
should only say "Godot". Can anyone tell me what I did wrong?
I already re-uploaded my "mm_menu.js" file back online. Is
there another file Im missing?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks everyone
-PsyThe mm_menu.js file is not controlling it.
It is the JavaScript on the page:
function mmLoadMenus() {
After you make the changes you will need to upload the pages
you made the changes on.
BTW you might want to consider another option for that menu:

Can InDesign CS4 files be saved down to CS3
Can anyone confirm if InDesign CS4 files can be saved down to CS3.
I need to be able to share editing of InDesign files with user on different version. Seems okay to open up a version, but then can not open file back down a version? ThanksNot an advisable workflow. You can export to INX but all new features will be lost or badly mangled. Additionally text will reflow due to the different text engines.
Your colleague should upgrade to CS4 or you should both be prepared for major headaches.

Hello everyone,
Thank you in advance for dealing with my inexperience and answering my question.
I have been stuck on this for wayyyy too long. Here is my problem. I created a drop down menu for a portfolio website I am building. When I pull this into Dreamweaver the way to link the menu items to the pages is elusive. I have no idea what to do. Please help?
Here is the screenshot. Thank you very much Jennifer
OK, Well no one can actually see this image since it came in so small, but please help me anyway if you can?Thank you for answering my question. I created the graphics in photoshop, sliced them in fireworks and now I am pulling the site in dreamweaver to link it. The dropdown is just a little dropdown menu. I created it in Fireworks because when I tried to create one in Dreamweaver I had to use a spry which was even harder to figure out and get to work. If I knew Html or CSS my life would be much easier but I don't. I don't have much time to learn it right now since I work over time all week, do graphics freelance and I go to school for computer science. I need to get this site up and I just want a fast little fix to get it up. When I have time to learn more I can make this site better or start a better site, but for right now it just needs to work. Is there a way to get what I have working so I can just get this site up. Later I will have more time and more experience to do this better. I am learning so thank you for your experience.
Thanks,
Jennifer -
How do I create this drop down menu?
I've been trying to figure out how to achieve this animated drop down menu and I just can't. I've gotten somewhere in between (animation using the accordion panel, and the rollover effect using the composition).
Any help would be appreciated. This is the example of what I'm trying to achieve.
Military Retirement Community Washington DC | Falcons Landing
Thanks!Hello,
you can create the same dropdown using tooltip composition Widget but the only transition that you can add on rollover and rollout will be fading.
Please check the attached file.http://adobe.ly/1IxxKfO
Another alternate will be to create an animation in edge animate and use it in Muse as OAM File.

InDesign CS4 -- editing problem
Working on a publication in CS4, been in it before, worked in it before, it worked before....but when i click on the Edit, it says theres an error and shuts down on me. Anyone else have anything similar. It just started this yesterday, been working in this program for 6 weeks.
That's not a good sign when more than one file develops the problem -- it usually indicates an application-level or system-level issue, and it means the potential for losing you work is much higher.
The least painful thing you can do that might fix strangeness at the application level is replace your preferences. Close InDesign and relaunch, then immediately hold down the key combination for your OS. On Mac that's Control + Cmd + Opt + Shift, on Windows Ctrl + Alt + Shift, and say yes when asked if you want to replace the preferences. If ID starts without asking, you weren't fast enough on the keyboard.
Keep in mind that resetting prefs this way will remove any customizing you've done, so you might to save all of your presets from the "Define" dialogs before you do this so they can be reloaded, and if you have any default styles or swatches you've added, save a blank document that you can use to reload them. If you prefer to back up the prefs before replacing, search for InDesign Defaults and InDesign SavedData, both of which are normally hidden files, and rename them before restarting ID. -
Does this drop-down menu work?
http://www.correctionalassociation.org/
The top horizontal nav menu should have drop downs for all but "Donate" If you can't see the the drop-downs, I would appreciate it if you'd post with your OS and browser number. If you have any ideas about what problem may be, that would be helpful too.
We've gotten 2 emails reporting problems with the site indicating that they probably can't see the drop-downs at all. I used Pixopoint's suckerfish dropdown generator to make the menu. Any known problems with that? I know Son of Suckerfish doesn't work with IE5/Mac or older versions of Navigator, but we haven't had any visits to our site recently with those browsers.
Any help would be just grand.
SamTested ok on FF 3, IE, 7, Safari 4 - on the PC
I'll bet the ones having problems are IE 6 - I've heard the suckerfish menus don't play well with pre IE7
