InDesign CS4 for $99

The site below is listing download-only versions of InDesign CS4 for $99. I have a couple of clients who have already bought from them that I am concerned about. The site appears to be legit superficially, but I am wondering if anyone else has done business with them and can confirm that they have the right to sell these versions or any other feedback about this company that would be relevant? Thank you kindly for your input!

Doing the tracing on the domain names eventually winds back up at some Moscow company. I always wonder why people see something that is too good to be true, and just decide to HOPE that it is true. *sigh*
FYI: The people doing this run a whole bunch of duplicate scam sites. See link below. I was able to answer my own question, but I figured that people need to be aware of this.

Bought InDesign CS4 for Mac and now need to move it to a PC. Help!

Most Adobe software is written for one of two platforms, Mac or PC.  In order to switch platforms you need to be using the most current version, so CS4 would not be supported for making this switch.  Here is a link to a page that explains the requirements for switching platforms....

  • Indesign CS4 for Mac

    Hello everyone.
I'd like to purchase adobe indesign CS4 for my macbook OSX 10.4.11.
I've looked for it online and can only find a company called soft-applications.com selling it for 70 dollars.
I suspect its a scam. Does anyone know about this company?
Could you help suggest legit sellers of this product.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I've not heard of them, but most of the super deals for software like that are scams. They're usually beta software or hacked versions. Let the buyer beware!

  • Creating PDF fro InDesign CS4 for screen or print.

We publish a bi-monthly newsletter that is personalized with our clients' colors and logo. When viewing the PDF at 100% or smaller, the images are pixelated. When magnified, the images are clean and crisp. They also are sharp when printed.
Is this something that is a result of image quality on the screen or is there something that can be done?
I am still learning to us InDesign and would appreciate any help.
    Thanks!

It didn't get attached to your posting, but I did receive your e-mail with the one page attachment and have posted it here. Looking at it with Acrobat, I see no problems at all unless you really blow up the logo beyond about 400% to 500%. It certainly doesn't look bad at all at small magnifications.
That having been said, if this was my logo, I would use vectors to represent the geometric shapes to the left of the company name. That would avoid jaggies under any magnification. This wouldn't be that hard to do for someone with any reasonable familiarity with Adobe Illustrator.

  • I Am Looking for the InDesign CS4 for Mac 6.0.6 Release Notes

These aren't listed on the release notes page that the updater provided:
    http://www.adobe.com/go/id6_readme_en
Which actually redirected to this URL:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/documentation/en/indesign_incopy/releasenotes.html
    And it stops at 6.0.5
    Anyone find them somewhere?

The release notes are not yet updated on the general Release Notes page yet, they should be there by the end of the week.  However, you can find them at the following locations:

  • ChangeCase of Selected Style in InDesign CS4

There is a certain lowercase letters applied in a character style those alone want to be change as UPPERCASE without changing the character style in InDesign CS4 (for e.g. if a group of lowercase characters (that can be any letter) applied in a character style "smallcaps". I want to change that all lowercase characters to UPPERCASE by selecting the "smallcaps" style. Please help me out how to do it in InDesign CS4.

If you search the forum, you'll find a couple of recent discussions where I posted a script for this.

  • Backword saving from Indesign CS4 to indesign CS

    Hi
Im having a problem exporting artwork produced in Indesign CS4 for Mac to be used in Indesign CS for PC. I have used a copy of Indesign CS3, back saving from CS4 to CS3 and then from CS3 to CS. But sadly my client still cant open the files - has anybody had any experience of this?, does anybody know if there is a route which works?
    thanks
    owen

As specifically pointed out there, this won't work to get back to CS unless you use the trick to get to CS2, open it in CS2 and export it again.
Barring that, the client will have to upgrade. Even with that, you're likely to wind up with a complete mess going back three versions.

  • InDesign CS4 repeated crashes

    Hi
We have been using InDesign CS4 for several months now, and suffer repeated crashes.  Our systems support contractors have looked at the network, and say its a software issue.  Running it on 2 PCs, Windows 7 OS.
Initaially we thought it was network latency issues, and certainly the number of crashes have reduced since we co-located all InDesign and image files on the PC's hard drive rather than on a network storage device.  However, the application is still prone to crashing.
Certain actions seem to spark a crash; but not always.  Applying character styles, applying master pages to existing document pages, duplicating spreads and moving pages within the document are all risky actions.
The symptom of a crash are sometimes just a freeze, with no associated warning.  That requires a CTRL-ALT-DEL to bring up the windows task manager which will show InDesign as not responding.  Alternatively, one gets a warning from InDesign that it has encountered an unexpected problem and needs to shut down.
Now we are working exlusively from our hard drives (I've even tried working with the network cable un-plugged to ensure I'm not inadvertantly linked to a resouce on a network sortage system), we get fewer crashes; maybe just 5 or 6 a day.  Before it could be 10-20.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
Would you please provide with some more details.
Is it happening while working with some specific file or all the files.
I would recommend to try a new user account on your machine.
Is it happneing with one specific machine or all other machines ?
Did you tried re-creating Indesign preferences.
Is it happening only with Indesign or any other Adobe or non Adobe application ?
Are you getting any error message?
Is it Freezing or closing down automatically ?
When did this issue started happening ?
If you remmember any kind of specific change after which it started happening or since the time you have installed it is happening ?
Is your Indesign up to date ?
I would recommend you to try below mentioned document. It might be of help to you:

  • Printing from InDesign CS4 on Mac Snow Leopard to HP officejet pro K5400

I recently started using a Mac Snow Leopard with InDesign CS4; for awhile it printed fine. Then, dealing with a book mss, I had to get InDesign to convert the document to a PDF, and since that time, the Officejet Pro k5400 will only print in what appears to be the best quality, even when I tell it to print in fast draft, and even set that as a preset. Anybody had that problem? Anybody have any suggestions as to what is going on here? How can I get the printer to print in fast draft? Thanks for any help,

  • From Pagemaker 7 to Indesign CS4

My employer is looking to upgrade from Pagemaker 7 to Indesign CS4 for our publication needs. I have Indesign CS2 at home, so it definitely looks like Indesign will make things easier. However, the main publication we will be using in Indesign relied heavily on the "Paste Special" function in Pagemaker, and I don't know what the equivalent of that function is in Indesign. (Maybe there's that function in CS4 but I know it's not in CS2) If there isn't a similar function in CS4, what function can I use to paste an Excel file on a page where, if edited in Excel, the Indesign page would also update. Does that make sense?

For some reason I was thinking of the paste in place It had a different name in PM and I was thinking paste special was it.

  • Exporting JPEGs from InDesign CS4

I've exported jpegs from InDesign CS4 for years and each time I get an Export JPEG dialog box that gives me the option to adjust the resolution. Suddenly, when I export to JPEG, I get no dialog box and it automatically creates a JPEG at 300 dpi. I've looked everywhere in Preferences to see if I inadvertently changed settings, but I find nothing. Help?

  • Print problems with InDesign CS4

    Hi,
I have been using InDesign CS4 for the last few years and been printing large format on an HP Deskjet 9560. I always got good color quality on the printouts. Recently, I updated the software on my MacbookPro to Snow Leopard and I was forced to get a new printer, the HP Officejet 7610. When I try to print a docment from InDesign the color quality is really poor. I believe that this is an application issue because I am not having printing color issues from other applications. Can someone please advise if I need to change my settings in the document for printing to help with this color issue?
    Thanks,
    Kim Shephard

Unfortunately, I have tried this. I choose 'layout' from the printer option within the driver  and pick 'short edged binding'. Still no luck.

  • Back-saving Adobe CC / CS6 InDesign files for use in Adobe InDesign CS3?

I am currently running Adobe CS3 on a Macintosh computer / OS. Is it possible to back-save Adobe CC / CS6 InDesign files for use in Adobe InDesign CS3?

@kc.k – You will need InDesign CS4 for that.
CS4 is the only version, that can export/import both IDML and INX exchange formats.
And you need an exported INX file (from InDesign CS4) that can open your exported IDML file from CS6, CC or CC-2014.
Since you are still running CS3 I'd suggest you downloading a 30days version of CS4 and do the conversion:
Download Adobe CS4 and CS3 Free Trials Here (incl. After Effects) | ProDesignTools
Read the Note about downloading very well before trying !!

  • No matter which printer I choose, InDesign CS4 rejects it.

I downloaded the trial version of InDesign CS4 for my Vista machine. Every time I try to change the printer to anything but PostScript file, it tells me "Printer selection failed. Restoring the previous selection" ... is this a limitation of the trial version or what? CS3 prints fine to all my printers. .... if it matters, both my printers are HP. My main one is HP Business Inkjet 2800.
    Any help would be appreciated!!
    -Jennifer

One other thing. It matters, on Vista 64-bit versions, where the programs are installed. InDesign is a 32-bit program so you need to be sure it goes into the 32-bit program files directory.
Did you try installing a copy of the printer, or deleting the instance you have and reinstalling that? It shouldn't matter if InDesign is installed before or after the printer.
Oh man, Peter. I had no idea about the 32-bit, 64-bit thing. Where the heck is the 32-bit program files directory? This is a 64-bit operating system I have now and although I did delete the printer from the printer list and then added it again, since the drivers are included with the system, there is no reinstalling anything, it just adds the printer again. And since there are no drivers available for me to download and install, I don't get to do it manually, because all-knowing windows knows exactly what I need and tells me what I have to do (cough, cough).
I can print from Acrobat -- and Illustrator CS4, but not InDesign. Are those 32-bit application also, or just InDesign?
