Indesign CS4 won't boot! Hourglass for a few seconds, then nothing!
Hi all,
My first thread here, borne of extreme frustration.
We have recently installed CS4 on our machines at work. On one of the machines (mine) Indesign refuses to boot. If I double click on the icon, or try to open an existing file, the same thing happens. I get the hourglass for 5 seconds or so, and then nothing. Illustrator and Photoshop work fine. I am using Windows 7 which i thought may be a cause of the problem, but my boss has 7 on his machine and Indesign works fine.
I have re-installed several times to no avail. I even used the Adobe Cleaning script, but that has not helped.
Any suggestions?

I was wondering if you ever got this problem sorted as I am having the same problem on my 64bit machine and Adobe tell me that it is a Microsoft privileges problem!!

My ipod shuffle 4th generation was working fine for a few months. My son then bit the USB charger. I bought a new USB charger, but the shuffle is not charging and not showing up under the devices in itunes. It also doesn't appear in my windows under my computer. Just to note. I also have a new ipod touch. I am able to charge that fine on the same computer using the USB charger. The device (Ipod touch) does show up in windows and in itunes. The shuffle doesn't show in either place.
I have tried to use the apple support page. I went through each step. I made all of my USB drives not shut down, I had my computer on all night to try and charge the shuffle. All I see is a red light that appears on the shuffle for a few seconds when I first connect the USB charger to the computer. Then, nothing. Since this was working a bit ago, I don't think that I have a defective shuffle. The USB charger is brand new, I just picked it up yesterday from the apple store. I have the short one, and the longer cable as well.
Any help that you might be able to give to me would be much appreciated. My daughter is missing listening to her music. Since you got the product with the two USB cables at the Apple Store, you have the right replacement (some third-party replacements are for the 2nd gen shuffle and do not work with the 4th gen shuffle). Make sure you are completely inserting the plug into the headphones jack. The fit may be tighter than expected, since the connectors are new.

If you tried both of those cables, it would be unlikely that you got two faulty cables in one package. If a new USB device has been added to the computer between the time it worked with the old cable and now, there could be a problem on the USB bus (such as not enough power or a device conflict).
As a test, you should shut down (power off) the computer and disconnect all USB devices (including any hub), except for standard keyboard and mouse (if used). Do this to reset the shuffle

Start up computer, run iTunes, and connect the shuffle by itself to a direct USB port on the computer. -

I did it and it works for me So, I think I should share this so people who have faced the same issue as I can give it a try.
Basically, Just uninstall the Photoshop and Creative Cloud, then rename the folder SLCache to SLCache_old. Restart your computer once and then re-install everything again. (CC and PS)

Because this is affecting multiple DVD's it suggests a faulty drive. If you were willing to spend a few $ or € and purchase an external optical drive from any electronic shop, that would be a sound diagnostic step to take; possibly a solution and cheaper than replacing the internal drive if counting labour is a factor.

When i type in my correct password on the login screen and press enter it just goes to a blue screen for a few seconds then goes back to the same login screen again, please i need help?

but I suspect your going to first have to create a data recovery drive
Create a data recovery, undelete boot drive
to get your data off the machine,
then do a #20 to eliminate the bad sectors as that's why your getting the "pinwheel" it's getting a delay reading from the drive, right when your trying to log in too, what a bad spot for it to happen.

HAve you tried using a different power chord? If the power chord is not the issue, it could be the power supply inside your mac.

IPhone 3G displays apple logo for a few seconds then reboots (continuously)

So far my iPhone has gone from not turning at all to booting with the apple logo for a few seconds, then disappearing. My device will do this over and over again until the battery is dead. When I plug it into my computer, it works completely fine, syncs, restores, etc. The phone will remain powered on after unplugging from my computer, but my screen is unresponsive to touch and occasionally the lcd will become very dark (dimmed)
My assumption as of right now is that it is a hardware issue, any suggestions or pointers for my next steps? I'm running out of ideas before I give it up and send it to appleHello xtn,
As paulcb mentioned, try resetting the iPhone. The behavior you've mentioned would be consistent with a stuck Sleep/Power button. However, it is odd that it mounts and works OK with your computer. A physically stuck button would tend to cause the iPhone to repeatedly mount and dismount from iTunes as well.
One last thing you can try is to restore the iPhone and set it up as a new phone.

Could the disk have failed?

Boot from the install DVD and see what Disk Utility says. -
When I try to power up my iphone 4 32g, it will stay on the apple screen for a few seconds then turn off. even when I try connecting it to my computer it turns on for a few seconds then turns off. Whats wrong with it? and what do I do about it?
Have you tried charging it with another known working USB sync cable? After letting it sit to "charge" for at least 30 minutes, have you tried resetting the device by pressing and holding both the Select/Center and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

Try to backup and restore you device in itunes...restoring the device is like removing the iOS software off the device and re-add in a newer software, after you have restore you device, MAKE SURE YOU SET UP YOUR DEVICE LIKE A NEW DEVICE, DONT NOT RESTORE FROM BACKUP!!... give the device a chance to use the newer software and see if the issue still persisting, if the issue still on going then its would be a hardware issue.
Call Apple Care and see if your device is still under warranty to get it replace -

It's back!!!!!! The problem went away for a few days now same issue. It only happens when I am listening to sound files on the headphones - sudden pause then restart in the middle of playing the sound file, this happens with different music/podcase apps. No issue with bluetooth streaming or speaker phone. So it appears there is a software bug with Lollipop update - never had this problem with KitKat. Factory reset does not fix it. I wish there was a way to revert the phone back to KitKat. Hoping the new Lollipop update would fix this.

Large white or black squares while editing
I've been using CS5.1 for quite awhile with no problems. Suddenly, when I attempt to edit a photo, large areas are either white or black squares or oblongs. I don't know what to do to fix this issue. Would reinstalling help? TIA

Proposed new feature - dual level security
Given the increasing use of smartphones used both for business & personal messages (not that this wasn't always so) it would be useful to have different security options for different e-mail accounts. I always have to be careful about letting a fami
