InDesign CS4 won't start after installing for first time. Other CS4 applications are fine.

I have Adobe CS4 applications installed except for InDesign. Today I tried to install it on a windows 7 64bit machine with my other Adobe products. When I try to start it nothing happens. I can see the application running in the task manager but nothing starts. I tried uninstalling/reinstalling it but still nothing. I saw on the forums to remove preferences but there's no folder related to that my guess is due the fact that it never ran for the first time. The only thing I haven't tried is uninstalling everything and then reinstalling all Adobe products. I would rather not have to do that. Thanks in advance.

I was using up to now InDesign CS3, but I bought the upgrade to InDesign CS 6.
After installing the new version I tried to start it, but during the start it complains about missing plugins and stops.
So, I can not run CS 6.
The missing modules are: SVG Export.apln and Dynamicdosuments.rpln.
What can I do to make CS 6 running?

thank you for your answer.
I have to admit, that unfortunately I dont understand the reply. I was uninstalling, running the Adobe CS cleaner tool for CS 6, reinstalling (as suggested in other entryies of the forum). No improvement.
Question A: Do I have to run the cleaner tool for all CS including CS 3? I am a bit afraid of side effects and have nothing running afterwards. Since nobody confirmed in the forum that this will help I dont dare to play around.
Question B: Coming back to your proposal, what do you mean by proper admin privileges? I am the only user on this laptop and never did something to any admin configurations.
Finally, I installed CS 6 on another laptop. This works. However, this one I dont want or can't work with for other reasons.

My Mac Mini won't start after installing Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.3. When I turn it on, the Apple logo appears and the initialization line starts to fill, but it suddenly stops. It does that again and stops at the same point, but this time it shuts down. What should I do?

If you are coming from 10.5.8, hopefully you backed up your important data first. Your mini will need at minimum, 1 GB of RAM to install Snow Leopard and at least 5 GB of storage remaining on your boot drive.
I treat 10.6.3 as a fresh, full install over a 10.5.8 system. That means I choose Disk Utility from the Installer's menu and repartition the boot drive as a single partition, Mac OS X Extended (Journaled) format, and use the GUID partition scheme from the options button. At this point, while still in Disk Utility, I would verify the drive under First Aid.
Then I turn the installer loose, and reboot into a working 10.6.3 system, ready for the software updates that take the machine to 10.6.8.
So, following the above guidelines, reinstall 10.6.3.

I'm trying to upgrade from 10.5.8 to Snow Leopard but my macbook keeps ejecting the disc. It started to install the first time and said it needed to restart to finish, restarted but ejected the disc. It ejects every time now.

hi guys
i have a probook 4530s (i5) laptop and recently i encountered a problem with graphics.
after installing a fresh copy of windows 7 x64, i installed lates driver for graphics (sp55947) but after a reset, windows won't pass the first "starting windows" page unless i go to bios setting and uncheck "switchable graphics" option,
but after that i dont have the radeon 6490m in my device manager anymore. i also tried the latest update for bios but no success with the problem..
i hope you can help me..

HAL won't start after install on DL585 G2

I ran a v40z for years and recently had SRSS 5.2 on S11 running just fine. This past week I replaced the v40z with a DL585 G2 and reinstalled S11 and SRSS 5.2. Everything went well except now HAL won't start failing with, I suspect, a timeout after several minutes. Using truss it is clear that devfsadm is going too slow. If I keep restarting HAL and devfsadm over and over, eventually it will start.
Is there any way to troubleshoot this further?

I am now kicking myself because I thought I had made a copy of the truss output, but I have not. After 2 hours of tinkering, the machine is finally up and I am hesitant to mess with it any more.
The truss of devfsadm showed threads of devfsadmd stalling for about 60 seconds over and over again performing an ioctl against a devinfo file. I also wonder if this is related to the following message seen over and over in /var/adm/messages:
Mar 4 10:05:21 dl585 devfsadmd[595]: [ID 511948 daemon.error] di_init failed for /pci@0,0/pci10de,5c@9/pci103c,3305@4,4/device@1/mouse: No such device or address
There is some mouse that devfsadm thinks it has but then it can't find it. For what it's worth, there is no mouse plugged into the console. Further, I have disabled ILO via boot ROM and disabled all USB via BIOS.

PowerMac G4 (FW 800) Won't Start After Installing Airport Extreme Card!

After installing an Airport Extreme Card in my G4 FW 800, the computer will not Chime or Start Up; shortly thereafter, the Fan begins to Run erratically.
Without the Airport Card installed, the CPU runs normal, with the exception of the clock needing to be reset.

Hey Tom, thanks for the response. I have tried holding Command-Option-R-P down (resetting the PRAM) at startup with no avail. I have also pressed the PMU button with and without the Airport Card installed. Still no luck. I am pretty stumped. I ran a hardware check on the machine, and it has come back successful without the card.
The previous owner installed an extra internal HD and some memory. I have since installed a new PCI graphics card. Do you think these have anything to do with it?

VLC problem - won't start after installing skins

Hi everyone,
after installing some skins from the vlc website, I run into the following problem: VLC starts with two instances, CPU jumps to 100%, then VLC just dies. I've deleted the skins, changed the gtk theme, reinstalled vlc and did about a million other things, but the problem persists. Running vlc or cvlc from the terminal gives me the following message:

So apparently it still starts with two instances, but I have no idea why. There is no subX skin in the skins folder, everything looks clean. Any ideas would be really appreciated, as this is for me the best dvd player. Thanks!

Mac won't start after installing Mountain Lion

After installing Moutian Lion (from 10.6.x) overnight I returned home yesterday evening and wasn't able to start up the mac.
I get the white screen of death and a little spinning wheel and then the mac shuts down.
I tried rebooting in recovery mode and did a "repair disk".....it said that it couldnt repair the disk.
I tried the "reinstall the OS X" option but the two drives it showed me are both locked so I couldnt do that either!
I didnt have time to do anything else.......what do I need to do now? WHat are the next steps? Sledgehammer? Dynamite?

G4 won't start after install?

Hello, just upgraded my G4 from 10.4.9 to leopard. Installation was successful, but after boot computer won't start. It shuts down right after gray screen shows. Now I started from leopard installation disk and fixed permissions. But that won't work. When I trie to start up from my HD it shuts still down right aftergray screens appeares. My comp spec: G4, 1,4GHz, 2gb ram, geforce2 video.
Ideas?

This appears to be another G4 bricking incident. There are plenty of these occurrences on these boards. You must boot from disk (hold "c" during re-start - wait until you see the spinning disc then release the "c" key). Choose disk utility, erase your disk and reinstall from scratch using the same hold "c" method. It's not a pretty solution, but plenty of us have had to figure this out the hard way. Welcome to Leopard.

SIA Won't Start After Installing BO XI 3.1 Service Pack 2

We have Business Objects XI 3.1 on Windows 2003 Server after installing Service Pack 2 that took about 7 hours and finish without problems when we try to connect with infoview appear the following message:
Error: Server mixco15:6400 not found or server may be down (FWM 01003) null
I check in CMC and SIA appears to be UP but when i try manage servers and put the administrator password i get the following message:
Unable to log on: Could not connect to server mixco15:6400. Please check that the server name is correct, and the server is running.
We restart the server several times and the server continues down also stop and start the Service Intelligence Agent and nothing happens do you know if this SP has any problem o what can I do in order to solve this everything was fine after installing SP2.

jre don't have the dll, so you need to install JDK
Follow the steps mentoned below :-
You can remove/uninstall jre that you have installed
Download JDK
http://java.com/en/download/index.jsp
Install (run exe)
Stop ColdFusion 9 Application Server services
Now go to cfinstall root\runtime\bin\
Take a backup of jvm.config. Then open jvm.config and edit jvm.home
It will be something like java.home=C:/Program Files/Java/jdk1.7.0_25/jre
So setting this path means you are setting the path of jre present in the jdk folder not the standalone jre that you have installed.
