Indesign CS5.5 keep crashing whenever I open an existing document or create a new one

Question

please help- I saw another post about running the Activity monitor which i have done but i dont know how to fix it.
I am desperate as I have to hand in my assignement in 48 hours and i cannot open it!!!!

Not a problem. We just need to work through step-by-step.
And now we've come to the step of analyzing the hang, then forcing a crash. Here are John's instructions for doing that:
Please have ID running withthe beachball spinning when you do this...
run Activity Monitor and garner:
1: Sample Process. Save to file
2. View > Send Signal: Abort (SIGABRT). This will force a crash and crash report.
Upload both files to http://pastebin.com/ and post a link here. Don't paste them in here, it makes the forum unnavigable.
John will hopefully look at them and tell you the cause of the crash.
I presume you get the option to save the sample process file directly to someplace convenient to the desktop, but if not, copy it and paste it into a text doc in Text Edit or something so you don't lose it. I beleive the easy way to deal with the crash report is to ask the crash reporter to display it, and to copy that to Text Edit, too.
