InDesign CS5 Error Message

Hello,
A co-worker of mine is working on a time sensitive project in InDesign CS5 and keeps getting an error message and the program crashes. It happens on any machine she opens the file on. I assume it is a corrupt file, but wanted to see if there are any other possibilities for a fix???
Message reads "Adobe InDesing is shutting down. A serious error was detected. Please restart InDesign to recover work in any unsaved InDesign documents."
Thanks!

We don't know anything about your systems, your documents and so on. if it haoppens on any machine, the document is probably damaged or references a bad external file, maybe uses a bad font. whatever. Ask in the ID forum.

  • HELP - illustrator cs5 error message when opening cs3 files

Has anyone else had this issue? Do you know how to fix it.
I just bought and downloaded cs5. When opening Illustrator cs3 files I get an error message: "Can't finish previewing. Could not complete the requested operation."
Then it opens the file but I it is only line work (no fills, gradients, etc) and I can not do anything in the file. If I click an object the error message pops up again.
This is what it looks like in cs3.
This is how it displays in cs5
I cant find anything online about this issue. Also this occurs on all of my illustrator files, not just one.
    any advice?
    thanks

I think your system is also fine for running Adobe Illustrator CS 5 but of course you are running the system as well and a browser and e-mail client…and perhaps Adobe Photoshop or Adobe InDesign or Microsoft Word in which case I think there might be on occasion an out of memory issue and with a complex file you will lose your preview.
I have lost my preview as well on certain files and found that it usually is because I had trashed the preferences and forgot to set the scratch to a different disk other than the startup disk.
I have 16 GB of RAm and once in a while I still lose the preview.

  • CS5 Error Message On Open?

My MAC crashed and had to have a new hard drive installed.  When I re-installed CS5, InDesign now gives me error messages.  First one is LILO.IndesignPlugin is not currently available on the system.  Next one is Hyphenation breaks may change if you edit the text in this document.  The following hyphenation services are not installed on this system - Proximity (English: USA).  I searched the forum and found a topic regarding finding and deleting the SavedData file and the Preferences file.  I have been working on this since last night.  Last night, the SavedData file was not showing up.  I uninstalled the program and reinstalled it again, and now the Preferences file is gone.  Seems like I saw something somewhere in the many hours of looking for a "fix" that said something about a "cleaner" program that would take all of the program off the computer so that it could be installed again like it had never been there.  I don't know if that will fix it or not, but I am certainly ready to try!  All of the menus are missing!  I own a magazine and this is one of my designers computers.  I really need to fix this issue by Monday!  Help!!!!  Any ideas on how to help would be greatly appreciated!

It can works good when i update to 10.8, but when i update the OS to 10.8.1, i cannot open any file!! Even old file or make a new one! Its just show a error dialog box to fix or reopen , but still cannot open any indesign documents whatever i click the chooses !!
finally i need to back to 10.8 from my time machine(Lucky i've backed up!!!!)
Is that any fix when i try 10.8.1?

  • Indesign CS5 error 16

  • CS5 error message - file-format module interface

First post - sorry if it's not in the best place.  CS5 has suddenly fallen over with the following error message when trying to open a raw file (.CR2 / 5DII), which it could open previously:
"Could not complete request because of a problem with the file-format module interface".
Googling has not produced much at all on this topic, and none of it helpful.
    Any thoughts on this please?

Thanks for getting back to me.  I've made a little progress.  It seems that my usual identity is corrupted, or is being affected by PS crashes, which are crashing the DDE server window and also preventing some other applications (such as Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 and even Internet Explorer) from running in that identity too.  If I close and restart that identity, it's fine again as long as I don't even open PS.
So I created a new identity just to see if PS would run OK there, and it did, for about 4 hours, but then errors started to recur, such as 'PS has encountered an expected problem and needs to close....' when opening raw files.  As I'm trying to finish off editing a set of wedding photos, this is a pain.
I'll try reinstalling PS, but I suspect the problems I'm seeing may be due to a lack of resources.  So, reluctantly, I'm thinking it may be time to replace my faithful and carefully maintained Pentium 4 running XP, and enter the dizzy world of 64-bit.  One issue may be installing CS5 on a new machine, since I only have an upgrade disk, having migrated all the way from a full copy of PS6, via a CS2 upgrade.  I understand that it would be wise to go for Windows 7 Pro, which contains an emulation of XP and therefore allows older 32-bit software to be installed.  Any other points to consider?
By the way, your suggested search for the file 'camera raw.8bi' turned up two versions - the CS5 one, and the older CS2 file.

  • CS5 error message

I am running Windows7 with CS5 Design Premium and started getting this error message: the following panel layout is missing or could not be read. c:\users\momdukes\AppDataRaoming\Adobe\Dreamweaver\CS5\en-US\configeration\workspace\Desi gner.xml

Go into that folder and delete that xml file. Then open up DW. This will force DW to re-create this file from scratch afresh which will solve your problem.

My own research found this appears to be a CS5 bug that has gone unaddressed. The work around seems to be SceneAlyzer Live, but when I tied to purchase it says unavailable.
    Whats up with that ?

    SD capture http://windv.mourek.cz/ or http://www.scenalyzer.com/main.html
Do note that the demo version of ScenalyzerLive puts a watermark in the files it creates

  • CS5 error message after installing Genuine Fractals 6

I've just installed Genuine Fractals 6 into CS5 and when I launch PS, I get the following error message - see screen grab.
I've now removed GF but I still get the error message. Anyone know how to rectify this?

Since my prior message I have installed 6.0.6 into Photoshop CS5 on Windows 7 x64 and I do not see the error you are describing.  Perhaps there are several different CoreFoundation.dlls on your system, and Genuine Fractals is accessing the wrong one.
Is yours the 6.0.6 version?  And are you seeing it in 32 bit Photoshop or 64 bit or both?
    What is your operating system?
Sounds like their installer didn't remove everything it installed.
If it can help you to remove all the files, these are the files it installed into my Photoshop 32 bit folder, all having a Mod date of 5/31/2010.  Note that there are several more beyond the list shown above:
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\CoreFoundation.dll"
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\glut32.dll"
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\icudt42.dll"
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\icuin42.dll"
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\icuuc42.dll"

    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\Plug-ins\Genuine Fractals 6.0.plugin\GFStandardMenu.onli.dll"
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\Plug-ins\Genuine Fractals 6.0.plugin\onOneActivationToolbox.dll"
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\Plug-ins\Genuine Fractals 6.0.plugin\onOneWelcomeDialog.dll"
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\Plug-ins\Panels\onOne\onOne Palette Config.txt"
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\Plug-ins\Panels\onOne\onOne.jsx"
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\Plug-ins\Panels\onOne\onOne.swf"
Make sure all of the above are removed.
Also, you should try resetting your prefs (Ctrl-Shift-Alt immediately after starting Photoshop).

  • InDesign CS4 Error Message 148:3

Went to launch CS4 this morning I got this error message and it stated that the license stopped working. I called support only to learn CS4 no longer supported. Yikes! I got a book I'm suppose to get to a printer today!
    Suggestions?

    Windows or Mac?
There are some Knowledgbase articles that deal with this that may help you (but without knowing the OS I can't give you links). It would also help to know the exact wording of the error message (and if you google that exact wording you'll probably come up with the articles, as well as older threads here that deal with this problem). The fix is usually fairly simple -- a licensing service patch to download or a folder to rename.

  • PS CS5 error message, "The requested operation cannot be performed..."

When trying to save an image under the "save for web & devices" I get this error message, "The requested operation cannot be performed on a file with a user-mapped section open." I have the latest driver on my computer. For a while I would get this message now and then, now it is all the time.

I have this problem too. It only affects Photoshop. It doesn't happen every time I try to save for web, but it happens on all kinds of files, even new files that I have created from scratch in Photoshop. Sometimes, all I have to do is create a new file and click save for web, and I get the error.
It doesn't happen if I turn off my Antivirus program - Trend Micro Titanium Maximum Security.
So I would think it was a problem with Trend Micro, but it doesn't occur with any other program and I can save files with Photoshop, unless I use the Save For Web option.

  • Placing PSD files in Indesign CS4 error message

I recently upgraded at work to CS4 and leopard. Here is my problem everytime I try to place a photoshop file off of my network filesever I recieve this error "This file is already open by another user or another application. This file may be stored on a network server and cannot be opened until the other user closes it." This happens with every psd that I try to place and I know that these files are not use. The photoshop files are CS3 files. Does anyone know why this is happening? Thanks in advance!

I just experienced the same situation with a client's network, the main difference was CS3 and OS 10.5.6. The situation arose after installation of Leopard and subsequent software updates. l believe the IT person who did the updates used migration, but I'm not positive about that.
Anyway, here's how I solved it: As a test, create a new user in System Preferences/Accounts (call the new user Test User) and give it admin privileges. Log in as testuser. Connect to your server. Open InDesign, create a new document, and try to place a tiff or psd file from the server into the new document. If this works, you've isolated the problem to your normal (previous) user account.
If this is indeed the problem, while logged in as testuser, click the padlock in System Preferences/Accounts, enter your password, and proceed to delete the corrupted account...
It will give you 3 options: pick the first one, which is delete user and archive user folder as a disk image within a folder named Deleted Users.
Now you can create a new user (you can name the new one the same as you had for the old corrupted one), give it admin privileges. Log out of test user and log back in with the new user you just created.
You can now open up the old user disk image in the Deleted Users folder, and drag items back into the new user folder you've just created. I would only drag the contents of Music, Pictures and Movies at this point.
    Important:
Do not drag the contents of your Users/olduser/Library folder into you new user folder. More than likely this contains the source of the problems that got you into this trouble in the first place.
The biggest pain about this process is recreating your font lists/locations. If you use Suitcase Fusion, open Suitcase first, then drag your favorite fonts into Suitcase. If you use another font manager, you're going to have to recreate your font list as you did the first time you installed them.
When you open each of your regularly used programs, they will act as if you're opening them for the first time (with the exception of asking for serial number/registration info), and new preferences will be created in your User/~/Library/Preferences folder.
    Good luck,
    Dave Moeller

  • Photoshop CS5 error message 213:5

After I restored my Macbook Air from a backup, Photoshop wouldn't open. I uninstalled and reinstalled it, removed preferences from the library, and did everything else recommended online. Is there a way to fix it?
