InDesign CS5 OSX Lion command+option+q quits app
I have a user I've given a Lion machine to. He always used the keyboard shortcut: command+option+q to adjust kerning. But on Lion it quits the app. I've searched everywhere and nothing. Any ideas?
10.7.4
CS5 all updates installed
27" iMac i5
Nope. Worked before the upgrade. Now it quits the app, not log out. Not confusing the two.

Turn off kerning for selected text
Select text.
In the Character panel or Control panel, type or choose 0 in the Kerning menu.
You can also press Alt+Ctrl+Q (Windows) or Option+Command+Q (Mac OS) to reset kerning and tracking. When you do so, kerning is set to Metrics regardless of which kerning option was previously applied.

Adobe Reader worked under the spare Admin account so I deleted that in case it was confusing the installer. I then rerpaired persmissions. I then re-installed Reader. Same problem "Internal Error"!!
So, I re-created another Admin account and opened Reader. No problem. After clicking accept licence it opened up with a question to make default or not. After this I hunted through every folder and found that Under 'User/Librarary/Application Support/Adobe' there was an Acrobat folder. When I checked the account I normally use there wasn't, and never was?? So I copied pasted a copy of the Acrobat folder into the same location on the non working account and all is fine.
Problem for me is, why did this happen? I wasted almost a day on this. Is it a problem with the installer, the Macbook or Permissions. I checked permissions and they are identical to those on the spare Admin account. So why did the installer not create the Acrobat folder on the main account from where it was installed? Reason it concerns me is with regard to updates. Will they also screw up?
I'll try to explore further as times goes on but for now I have to say I've had enough of Acrobat and Lion for one day. "It just works". Really??? -
Large PDFs from Indesign CS5 under Lion
Has anyone noctived the incredibly large PDFs exported from Indesign CS5 under OS X 10.7 Lion?...
When OS X 10. Snow Leopard all was great, though now I have noticed HUGE differences!!??
crazy. example Indesign exported to pdf 106mb
Print to file, then Distiller: 32mb
BIG DIFFERENCE
anyone else?
thanksOk lets forget the Distiller part of this story, sorry.
My issue is that under Lion PDF's are WAY larger than in previous OS X (Snow Leopard etc)
I don't have any Mac on Snow Leopard to now show a comparison only previous PDF's made before Lion was installed and they are signifcantly smaller.
I just tested I think it is new documents made in Indesign CS5 in Lion.
Testing a indd file previously made in Snow Leopard I exported a PDF it produced the same size PDF as in Snow Leopard, so now I am confused slightly hoping I am wrong. Then I exported that same .indd as a .idml opened and saved as .indd then exported as a PDF it is 150kb larger... small difference yes, though ot enough to worry about, so I tried with previous larger files... only to have them create the satisfactory sized pdf.
Ok, I am wondering if newly created documents are the issue?...
Moving on I found then I found this.. http://www.creativepro.com/article/drop-20-pounds-indesign
I have just done a space audit most of the file is the images, my only conclusion is that the images are containing meta data that is hogging?... -
Indesign CS5.5 ePub export option missing
Hi there
I have just upgraded indesign CS5 to 5.5 - specifically to publish ePub books and I come to do my first one and the option isnt available under the "export for" option there is just a greyed out Buzzword option. I am probably doing something wrong but I have looked at all the options and searched the Internet and cant find an answer - any ideas?
Many thanks
HowardFor a single document, just use File>Export and choose EPUB from the pop-up labelled Format at the bottom of the Save dialogue. (That's what it's labelled on a Mac, may be slightly different if you're on Windows.) If you have a book, there's an Export Book to EPUB... command on the fly-out menu on the Book panel.
Crashes InDesign every time when I try it lately. That's probably just me, but don't say you weren't warned. -
How do I install osx lion server in vmware fusion (app store version)
i cannot seem to find a way to get a .dmg to download to use / mount / whatever
mac mini running osx lionI just get the "server" application,
Tried sending it to trash and tried redownloading just to the point where the "downloader" completes but it looks like the server application reappeared.
Is the server no longer a operating system and is downgraded to a application that runs on top of OSX 10.7?
How would I go about running OSX Lion then in Vmware fusion then?
It came preinstalled on my mac mini. -
Mountain Lion Download option disappeared from app store.
I purchased mountain lion and downloaded it to a few of my macs and I was trying to install it again and it no longer shows as a download option in the app store. Do they only let you download it a limited number of times?

No, whatever the problem is, that is not it.
Try signing out of the App Store, and signing in again. It should appear under "Purchases".
Make sure that you did not "hide" the purchase:

i might be stupid, but i cant find osx lion which i paid for a year or so ago, all it shows is mountion lion which i would have to buy. anyone have any ideas as to how i can redownload lion osx, 10.7.5 thanks.
Hopefully, you saved a copy of that ill-designed installer which deletes itself during the installationi process, necessitating wasting resource DLing it over and over again. Sheer madness and toatlly anit-green in behavior.

InDesign CS5 on Lion crash on launch
Hi,
I've got a crash on launch on upgrading to a new machine (a 2012 27" iMac) and OS (to Lion — 10.7.4). Adobe Updater says everything is up to date. I've trashed preferences and the cache and removed all but essential fonts (the ones that Font Book won't allow to be removed). I've also tried creating a new user and starting InDesign with that user. No go. I've looked at other discussions here reporting launch crashes, but I don't see the same stack crawl that I have:
From the stack crawl, it looks like a possible bad font, but I've already removed all non-essential fonts without effect. I'm currently down to:
Any ideas on what to try next?It can works good when i update to 10.8, but when i update the OS to 10.8.1, i cannot open any file!! Even old file or make a new one! Its just show a error dialog box to fix or reopen , but still cannot open any indesign documents whatever i click the chooses !!
finally i need to back to 10.8 from my time machine(Lucky i've backed up!!!!)
Is that any fix when i try 10.8.1? -
INdesign CS5 and Lion Screen redraw errors
I have been running INdesign 7.0.4 with Mac OS 10.7.2, I am getting screen redraw issues and ghosting when scrolling or making any edits. I have trashed the prefs, repaired my disk permissions to no avail.
Anyone else having this issue?
Thanks for your help!Ah, this is easy.
You have a problem with the SING module, see http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/408/kb408816.html.

Hi Guys,
Not sure if this is a new issue...but it seems something has happened to OSX 10.7.2.
I was wondering why my Macbook Air couldn't connect to the internet when I tethered it to my iPhone 4...I tried unsuccessfully for several days...until I had this flash of insight to shut off the Mail.app.
Once I did that, internet came back on pronto, and everything was back to normal. I'm typing this with Mail.app deactivated...now I am accessing GMail from Safari.
This issue doesn't happen with WiFi though. So my guess is that Mail.app is somehow chewing up the limited bandwidth on my iPhone 4...but it wasn't doing anything last I checked.

InDesign CS5 upgrade fails, erratic behavior. Caused by Siebel?
PC1 and PC2 upgrading from CS4 to CS5. Both PCs are identical. Install on one of them fails with odd icon issues, file association probelms, etc.The only difference we can find is that the PC that had a failed install has Oracle's Siebel CRM installed. Further evidence, after InDesign CS5 had been installed, my Sieble quit and had to be reinstalled. The only variable we can find is the installation of Siebel.
Is it possible that InDesign CS5 and Oracle's Siebel CRM have conflicts? We've been battling this for quite a while and may have to downgrade our entire enterprise back to CS4 is we can't eliminate the CS5 bugs. Please advise.I'm on a fact finding mission right now. All the computers in our department that have CS4 and Siebel installed (and working fine) start acting really strange when upgrading. As soon as we try to updgrade CS4 to CS5, there are all these wierd errors and failures and exception erros, etc. So either Siebel was built with a bug way back when (we use an older version), or Siebel and CS5 try to use the same frameworks without playing nicely.
You're right, it could be Siebel. But it could be InDesign, just pulling togther info at the moment and want to know if anyone else is having problems. Our IS tam is patching Siebel this weekend, so we'll know a little more. -
Very slow Mac OSX Lion download from App Store
Hi All,
I have recently purchased Mac OSX Lion (3 days ago) on App Store (Malaysia). The download is extremely slow and
I am not sure if there could be any other problem contributing to this issue.
Currently I have only completed about 1.61GB out of 3.74GB after 3 days. But, it was not a continuous download but
rather stop and resume every 3 hours. My internet connection speed as I checked on speedtest.net was 4Mbps.
The time left to complete the download is shown as 2 days and 20 hours. I think it's not sensible to have such a
long time to complete the download with an available connection speed of 4Mbps.
Any solutions for this problem ?Thank you for keeping the thread alive.
Now I'm experiencing better download speeds with remaining time of (7 hours and a few minutes).
The connection speed I have is about 5Mbps.
I would suggest anyone with download speed issues to follow several maintanence tips (if not all) from here :

It may not seem worthy or the "solution for the problem" but it has certainly made the difference for me. -
When will you optimize Firefox for Mac OSX Lion?
Mac OSX Lion has hit the Mac App Store. It has several new features for Safari. The features are very cool, and I am hoping that Mozilla is planning on implementing similar features with Firefox. The main ones that I'm looking for is a better full screen mode and disappearing scroll bars.
No answers, but Mozilla is aware of the new release of Lion, and hopefully are working on solving some of the known issues. There are some rather formal technical discussions and reports, as mentioned in this contributors thread: [/forums/contributors/707160]

i downloaded OSX lion and it says it is installed but it doesn't appears in the purchased tab nor in apps or downloads what do i do to get OSX lion?
try
In th App Store menu click on "Store" and "View My Account"
Under the "iTunes in the Cloud" section of the new window that appears there were 2 "Hidden Purchases".
Click on "View Hidden Purchases" and then click on "Unhide" on OS X Lion (assuming it is there - mine was).
It will now re-appear in your puchases section and you can re-download and install if necessary.
