InDesign CS5 - Probleme mit Farbfeldoptionen

Hallo zusammen,
ich habe ein Problem mit dem „Farbfelder“-Menü.
Wenn ich den Farbmodus in CMYK ändern will, bleibt die Darstellung imm er im Pantone-Modus hängen.
Die eigentlichen Felder, die ich ändern möchte, liegen sozusagen UNTER der Pantone-Palette.
Kennt jemand von Euch das Phänomen und weiß, was man tun kann?

Indesign CS5 - Problems with PDF-Export

we do have a problem with Indesign CS5 and exporting data into PDF. It is about that logo on that white surface, which doesnt come along with the rest after the pdf-export. What we did was: We created that white surface in Indesign itself, put an effect on it with the Indesign effect gallery and then imported the logo in the surface ... the logo itself is .psd data. So, if we export it into pdf like that, it is just dissapeared. Does anyone have had a similar problem and what can be done about it?
By the way ... if you put, for example, a simple backgroundshadow on a picture ... done also with the Indesign effect gallery, then you get just a white surface instead of the shadow, after the export into pdf. It does maybe correlate with the other problem ... not sure. Any suggestions?

I would create the entire logo, including the white background, in Illustrator, save as PDF and place that in ID.

InDesign CS5 problems

Every time I open InDesign CS5 the beach ball cursor comes up and it never goes away. I am totally unable to use InDesign because of this. Here is my pastebin of the activity monitor. I don't know what to do.

Restart your Mac in Safe boot mode. Shut down and while restarting the Mac hold down Shift key and keep it pressed until you see the spinning logo under Apple logo. Now Launch InDesign and let me know if you're able to use it.

InDesign CC Probleme mit Tags

Guten Tag zusammen,
Ich habe vor kurzer Zeit eine neue Stelle angefangen und arbeite seit dem mit einem neuen System - Tags.
Die Daten werden automatisch aus einem externen Kundenverzeichnis geladen und über Tags in InDesign CC eingebunden.
Wir haben jetzt folgende Probleme:
1.) Wenn ein Tag "leer" ist wird ein Leerzeichen eingefügt (so entstehen ungewollte Einzüge).
2.) Es werden alle Absätze rausgeschmissen.
Ich weiß, es ist ein sehr komplexes Problem, aber vielleicht kennt jemand diese Problematik aus dem Stehgreif?
Hier ist noch ein Bildschirmfoto zur Veranschaulichung.
Über Anregungen und Antworten würde ich mich sehr freuen!

Es handelt sich um einen XML-Import.
Die Leerräume sind auch sichtbar, wenn die unsichtbaren Zeichen ausgeschaltet sind.
Welche Optionen kann man beim Import wählen, damit die Leerzeichen verschwinden?

Indesign CS4 - Probleme mit Fenster und deren Breite

Hallo an alle,
ich hab dieses Problem schon seit der 1. Installation von ID CS4, bin aber jetzt wirklich genervt:
Wenn ich bei einem Fenster unten rechts in der Ecke die Länge des Fensters nach unten verlängern möchte (weil ich mehr Ansicht brauche), verkleinern oder vergrößern sich die ganzen angedockten Paletten gleichzeitig und proportional in der Breite - und ich muss die Palette dann immer händisch zu meinem Dokument rüberziehen damit sie wieder anliegen! Versteht man was ich meine?...
Bei meinem Arbeitskollegen passiert das nicht, wenn er ein Fenster länger zieht verändert sich die Breite der Fenster nicht. Wir haben zwar das selbe Indesign, Mac Os Leopard, aber nicht den exakt gleichen Mac PPC G5...
Kann ich irgend etwas dagegen tun? Die Files .plist oder InDesign SavedData zu löschen hat nicht geholfen!

es stimmt tatsächlich. Habe alle zur Verfügung voreingestellte Arbeitsbereiche aufgerufen und getestet. Nur bei einem Arbeitsbereich gab es das selbe Problem (Typographie), bei allen anderen blieben die Fenster gleich breit und nur die Länge ließ sich steuern...
Aber verstehe trotzdem nicht, ich und mein Arbeitskollege haben beide personalisierte Arbeitsbereiche (nicht die selben), aber bei ihm bleibt wie gesagt die Breite bestehen...! Kann es sein, dass es auch mit der Monitorgröße zusammenhängt, er hat nämlich ein größerer Display (ich 20" - er 23")
Wie verhält es sich bei dir? Arbeitest du mit den voreingestellten Arbeitsbereichen oder mit einem personalisierten?

Tabs & InDesign CS5 Problem!

Having issues with text shifting on a multi tabbed line of text. Tabs are left align to right align with a leader. first set of tabs works fine, however the two sets of tabs after pushes the left tabbed text into right.

Bob, I am having the same issue. There are no hidden characters except for TABS inbetween words.
Replicate:
Make new IDCS5 document.
Draw a text frame.
Type some text like this, use tabs between item and price points:
text 11.95 stuff 13.11 junk 99.99
more 99.11 crap 12.21 garbage 00.55
Put tabs to align the column of price points to be right align and have a leader of a period
Insert left aligned tabs to line up the text items, with no leader character.
Export document as PDF.
Some of the words are pushed over to the right, on top of the leader characters.
Whether the words are piled up or show up completely correct, seems to depend on how small the space between the right tab and left tab is.
If the tab character (>>) is changed to any other font, then the spacing shows up correctly on PDF.
Seems like a bug, I am going to bug report it soon. Major Adobe Fail, to use the hip vernacular.

InDesign CS5.5 - Problem beim Öffnen von Dokumenten

ich bekomme ein Problem in InDesign CS5.5 nicht gebacken.
Erstmal ein paar Infos:
MacPro (2010/2011)
Mac OS X 10.6.7 und 10.6.8
Creative Suite CS5.5 (aktuelle Updates)
Beim Öffnen von Dokumenten bleibt InDesign sehr oft mit dem Sat1-Ball hängen und man muss es mit "Sofort beenden" schließen.
Es ist egal, wie groß und umfangreich ein Dokument ist und ob es vom Schreibtisch oder vom Netzwerk geöffnet wird.
Am Anfang dachte ich, dass es daran liegt, dass unsere Macs keine Internetverbindung haben, das wars aber nicht.
Ich habe mich schon mehrere Stunden mit google gemüht, aber die Lösung war nicht dabei.
Versucht habe ich schon:
- Dokumente geprüft
- Preferences gelöscht
- ID Cache gelöscht
- Font Caches gelöscht
- Fremde Plug-Ins gelöscht
- Preflight im ID deaktiviert
- SING-Plug-In gelöscht
- CS5.5 neu installiert
- Dem Benutzer Administrator-Rechte gegeben

Ja, alle Updates für die komplette Suite sind installiert.
Passiert das mit einem bestimmten Dokument oder mit allen Dokumenten?
Es kommt bei kleinen und großen Dokumenten vor. Dabei ist es egal wie alt es ist und wieviele Verknüpfungen es hat. Es kommt bei Dokumenten vor, die vor langer Zeit im CS3 erstellt wurden, oder gestern erst im CS5.5 am gleichen Mac erstellt wurden.
Hast Du versucht die problematischen Dokumente mit IDML zu bereinigen?
Ich glaube nicht, dass es direkt an den Dokumenten liegt. Wenn man InDesign Abwürgt und es wieder öffnet, wird das Dokument, das man vor dem Absturz öffnen wollte, meistens direkt geöffnet und InDesign funktioniert ohne Probleme. Beim nächsten Dokument kann man glück haben, dass es funktioniert, aber es kann auch wieder hängen bleiben.

Indesign CS5 crash during startup - problem with Graphics.rpln

I work in an architectural company and already several of our computers have experienced this very rare and unusual behaviour. During start up of Indesign (not clicking on any file but just launching Indesign) it crashes with the following error:
"Adobe Indesign CS5 has stopped working"
We use Windows 7 64bit, so the first step I did - I went into Application Log which says, so appears to be a problem with Graphics.rpln.

I have tried everything I could think of - removed and reinstalled Adobe CS5, manually removed Adobe folders under %Appdata%\Local and %Appdata%\Remote folders (why can't Adobe delete those things during uninstallation is always a total mystery), changed video adapter drivers, cleaned Temp folders, everything I knew...
None of the other apps like Photoshop or Illustrator CS5 malfunction - only Indesign. What is going on?
Can it conflict with other software we use? We have Bentley Microstation, 3D Max, Office 2010, Kaspersky Antivirus and LOGMEIN installed on this computer...Any clues, guys?

Looks to me like you've never installed any of the patches. Last patch for CS5 was 7.0.4, so I'd start with that and see if ti helps.

Generally this should work, but of course there may be occasional compatibility issues across the different programs and their different versions.

Line thickness problem in indesign CS5 and CS6

I use indesign CS5 and many short lines of 0.5 point in my project.
After export to pdf (press) everything seems correct. After rip process from printer office in compressed file lines seems to have different thickness even on large zoom (400%).
High quality pdf from rip prepared by printer office still shows small differences in thickness. Lines are in one solid color in my project.
What is the source of this problem? 0.5 point ines seems not extremely thin.
If the line is not sharp in pdf will it be not sharp in press?

I wouldn't go off what I see on screen. I'd be asking the printer for a hi-res proof. If that's not satisfactory they could run a test on offcuts on another print job to see where the problem lies.
One reason for different linethickness could be that the lines are interacting with transparent areas, giving the appearance of thicker, or could be physically changing the width by a few decimals.
I'd try putting any of the thin lines on their own layer - and perhaps try different PDF compatibilities, from PDF 1.3 to PDF 1.4 etc.

Exporting PDF problem indesign CS5

I'm trying to export a 72 pages document to pdf in indesign CS5 but during the exporting proces the pdf file disappeares. Who knows a solution to this problem. Thanks in advance for helping me.

what I did was saving the indd file. After that I wanted to export the HR-pdf document so I started the export and after 15 minutes teh file disappeares when it wasn't finished with saving. When i tried to save it as the smallest file size possible there was no problem and the file was exported correctly. So I allready found out that the problem can be found in de export to HD_PDF.

Problems copy & paste text from PDF to InDesign CS5

Hey guys
Today, I tried copying and pasting text from a PDF I received from my client, into a InDesign CS5 doc, and the text came out was just random numbers and punctuations.
I've tried exporting Word / RTF & TXT file from the PDF and yet they still come out random. I'm not sure if it's just how the PDF was made, or there is something wrong with my CS5.
I'm on Snow Leopard, CS5 Premium, Acrobat Pro 9 & also Acrobat Reader X.
Any ideas why?

It's the PDF.
Usually, you can copy text out of a PDF, but there is no guarantee *at all*. Older software used to take shortcuts to subset fonts: first character it encountered got coded as #1, the next as #2, etc. etc. If you do a search & replace of each of the nonsense characters, you'll slowly see the original text appearing (thst's not as simple as it sounds, though).
A similar "problem" is that sometimes spaces don't get copied (there is no need for a "Space Character" in a PDF), and that you cannot copy contiguous lines of text as a single paragraph. All of it is because a PDF is not intended nor designed to be re-used after creation.
If you really need this text and don't want to type it in, try to get hold of the original file.

Problem downloading Adobe InDesign CS5.5 family

I have subscribed for Online Store Download of Creative Suite CS5. Download of instructions plus the actual product downloaded successfully. Now wanting to continue downloading other downloads seen in my downloads. One I just downloaded is called Adobe InDesign CS5.5 Family. To download without Akamai Manager I downloaded the file using the Alternate Download Method.
So the download now resides on my desktop and a folder is titled Contents. When I double-click it shows font family folders. How do I install them into InDesign? Do I drag the icon onto my InDesign Application Icon...

WIe sind Deine Farbeinstellungen: Bearbeiten > Farbeinstellungen? Vor allem was sind die verwendeten CMYK-Richtlinien.
Das Problem ist dann gegeben, wenn Dein Dokument in einem CMYK-Farbprofil angelegt ist (und Deine Grafiken) und die Ausgabe erfolgt auf ein anderes Farbprofil.
Damit der Farbeindruck gleich bleibt, werden die Farben in ein anderes Farbprofil konvertiert, damit die Farbwerte gleich bleiben, wird die Einstellung Werte erhalten verwendet. Das ist eben in den Farbeinstellungen generell festgelegt, kann jedoch spezifisch beim PDF-Export abweichend gewählt werden.
Bei der Verwendung von CMYK-Bildmaterial steht man bei einem abweichenden Ausgabeprofil vor dem Dilemma, entweder man erhält die Farbwerte und verändert den Farbeindruck der Bilder oder man konvertiert und konvertiert daurch auch in buntes Schwarz.
Die einfache Lösung in InDesign ist, dass man ausschließlich Bilder, also Fotos, in RGB platziert und Vektoren als CMYK und dann bei der Ausgabe „Werte erhalten” wählt.

Probleme mit Indesign Textrahmenoptionen Größe

Hallo alle zusammen,
wir haben ein ziemlich merkwürdiges Problem mit den Textrahmenoptionen von Indesign. Eins vorneweg: wir haben ein recht umfangreiches Indesign-Dokument (CC 2014) mit ca. 76 Seiten.
Nun zum Problem: wenn wir die Textrahmen auf "Automatische Größe >> Nur Höhe" setzten, haben die Textboxen plötzlich die unglaubliche Größe von 36396 px. Das sprengt natürlich das ganze Layout und alles manuell noch einmal nachsetzen ist sehr zeitaufwendig. Und die Seiten noch einmal alle neu zu setzten natürlich auch.
Wir haben schon vieles versucht um den Fehler irgendwie zum umgehen (Format-Vorlagen löschen, Text in neues Dokument kopieren, Format in idml speichen, ...) Leider alles ohne Erfolg.
Weiß vielleicht jemand einen spontanen Rat oder hatte jemand schon die Problematik? Achja, der Adobe-Chat funktioniert leider nicht!

Ich versuche hier mal die Server-Infos zu geben. Ist ein MacMini mit externem SAS was Freigaben bereitstellt. Der MacMini hat ein OSX 10.10.2 mit dem Server 4 installiert.
Das Netzwerk ist TCP und ohne zusätzliche Firewall. Funktionierte mit dem "alten" OSX Server 6 auf einem OSX 10.6.8 auch gut. (Mac OS X Server 10.6.8)
Die Benutzer arbeiten an Windows 7 Rechner und haben die SAS-Freigaben, welche auf den Server definiert wurden, gemountet und wollen dann immer Dateien direkt aufrufen und bearbeiten.
Welche Angaben felhen denn sonst noch?
