InDesign CS5 Rechteckrahmen Tool Frage
Hi,
mit dem neuen Rechteckrahmentool kann man ja mit den Pfeiltasten ein Rechteck in mehrere kleinere unterteilen. Soweit so gut. Der Abstand zwischen den Rechtecken ist ca. 4mm kann man diesen Abstand irgendwo festlegen?
Ich weiß das man den Abstand mit dem Lückenwerkzeug nachträglich verändern kann ist aber kontraproduktiv wenn man immer den gleichen Abstand haben will....
Wäre super wenn mir jemand weiterhelfen kann.

Das war genau das was ich gesucht habe. Das macht die Sache um einiges leichter.
War ja sehr einfach wenn man nur weiß wo es steht!!!! Oder wenn man jemand kennt der weiß wo es steht ;-)

Indesign CS5 -- Pen tool disappeared
The pen tool is missing out of my toolbox in InDesign CS5, Windows platform. Any idea how I can get it back? I recreated the preferences when I started the program this morning, but that did not help.

Does changing to a different workspace help?

Indesign CS5 Rotate Tool Anchor Point Bug
When rotating any object using either the rotate tool or 'Rotate 90 Clockwise/Anti Clockwise' the Anchor point defaults to the top left hand corner of the object frame. I would expect the Default Anchor point to be the center of any object that is placed on the work area.
Each time I want to rotate an object I have to move the ancor point to the centre of the object.
Is this a known issue?
Using CS5 with most recent updates on Intel Mac but also noticed same error on Win based systems in our office.

Indesign CS5 Video & Software-Frage
Hallo Zusammen,
zwei Fragen hätte ich, vielleicht kann Sie mir jemand beantworten :-)
1. Wenn ich ein Video einbinde und dieses dann als SWF exportiere, sieht es beim abspielen relativ grobpixelig aus. Und wenn ich auf Vollbild klicke, dann wird zwar das Fenster vergrößert, jedoch nicht nur das Video, sondern auch der Teil unterhalb vom Videos. Also eher eine Art Lupe, anstatt ein Vollbildvideo. Ist das ein Bug und mach ich was falsch (importiere das Video normal über die neue Mediathekfunktion).
2. Ich würde gerne für mein Projekt nebem dem abspielbaren Video auch einen Link drauf haben, mit dem man dann ein Programm (eine EXE) aufrufen soll. Ist das mit Indesign möglich, und wie stelle ich das dann an?

wie Du dir schon denken kannst, habe ich (fast) gar keine Ahnung von Indesign und versuche mir gerade ein paar Dinge beizubringen.
Es geht mir nicht darum, ein Indesignprofi zu werden. Das sollen andere werden. Ich will nur versuchen, ob das prinzipiell machbar ist.
Ist für einen Kunden eine Art Machbarkeitsstudie. Und wenn es im Prinzip funktioniert, dann kann dieser sich damit auseinander setzen.
So, zu meiner Frage 1:
In HTML kann ich per jquery z.B. das Bild mit einem Player (wie z.B. auch bei youtube) im Vollbild anzeigen lassen. Das Video bette ich ja
deswegen auch ein besserer Qualität ein. Die Größe ist dabei sogar unwichtig, da es eine Giveaway-CD sein soll. Wenn ich also in Indesign
das selbe Video einbette, kann ich es durch die Steuerung auch im Vollbildmodus laufen lassen. Das geht aber leider nicht so ganz. Wie gesagt,
das Video wird aufgezogen, aber der untere Teil des Hintergrundes wird mit angezeigt. Eben wie mit einer Lupe wird also statt Vollbild nur der Ausschnitt vom Video plus dem unteren Teil vom Hintergrund aufgezogen.
Frage 2:
Auf der Giveawy-CD soll eben eine Demosoftware drauf sein, die sich der Kunde dann zuhause selbst installieren soll. Ist vielleicht nicht ganz so rüber gekommen ;-). Sorry. Daher die Frage: ist es im Prinzip möglich, dass der Kunde dann zuhause die CD einlegt und wie bei normalen CDs auf den Button "installieren" klickt und dann die Setup-Exe startet bzw. zumindes wie aus dem Browser raus nachgefragt wird, wo die Datei gespeichert werden soll.
Ich habe mir z.B. neben Hilfeseite auch einige Adobe-TV Videos angeschaut und mir dazu von video2brain eine DVD gekauft. Leider sind das eher spezielle Fragen, die dort nicht beantwortet werden. Und deswegen hoffe ich auf Unterstützung seitens der Community.

PS: die Setup.exe soll selbstverständlich auch eingebettet sein, die dann wahrscheinlich nach dem SWF-Export auch mit exportiert wird (wie auch das Video) -
InDesign CS5 crashes on opening in Mavericks
Hi.
I migrated my User account to a brand new iMac this weekend with OS 10.9.2. All CS5 apps work fine except for InDesign. It always crashes after "Initializing plug-ins" stage. The last of many crash reports is at the end of this message. I've searched online and a lot of people have had similar problems put they haven't resolved the issue:
1) I updated Java for OS X 2013-005. No change.
2) I've tried dumping the InDesign Defaults & SavedData files as suggested, but this doesn't help either. Interestingly, the SavedData file was recreated but InDesign Defaults never gets replaced. I had the same issue with InDesign a couple of years ago when I upgrade the OS to 10.6 and this resolved the situation then.
3) I've resolved any font conflicts.
4) As my older iMac is sat next to this new one and it still has my original user account and had I upgraded the the OS to 10.9.2 in preperation of giving it to my partner, I decided to do a comparison. I opened InDesign to see if it crashed too. After a long time, it opened! It opens files and I can save. I've even copied the entire en_GB folder within Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign and used that on my new Mac, but this doesnt help. (By the way there is a Version 4.0 folder there as well as a Version 7.0. Could this cause issues?)
So, does this point to an issue with the brand new iMac? It's a 27" iMac 3.2 GHz Intel Core i5 with 12GB preinstalled, so it has had 4GB added to the standard 8GB by the retailer (costco).
I would appreciate any help resolving this issue. Thank You.

Solution 1: Clear the SING Datastore folder - didn't work
Solution 2: Remove the SING component - this worked!
I'll spend the afternoon doublechecking everything works.

Trouble Sampling Colors with Eyedropper Tool: InDesign CS5
Hey everyone,
My name is Quin, and I've used InDesign CS5 for the past few years and am working on a magazine layout for the first time. I'm suddenly having a really difficult time getting the eye-dropper tool to extract color samples from images i've placed in my layout. These are either jpeg or PDF images. If I recall correctly, in my past use of the program, i could simply click the eyedropper tool in an image and get my color sample – but suddenly, i'm having trouble getting it to sample color/make a color swatch.
I tried double clicking the tool and excluding everything i wouldn't want it to sample. Tried locking/unlocking layers, tried making sure the image frame itself is selected, tried holding down option, tried trashing the preferences (using a 2012 MacBook Air with the latest version of OS X Mountain Lion)… most of the time when i attempt to sample a color, nothing shows up in the fill box, except the classic diaognal red line over white.
The exception is when i use the eyedropper to sample non-image base things i've already filled, like a retangle, it picks up the color fine. So it's likely image specific. Is there something really obvious that i'm missing? It's frustrating because i simply want to sample colors to get a rough idea for text colors and headlines that can match images, and there doesn't seem to be a quick way to do this…

I was having the exact same problem, unable to sample color from images with the eyedropper tool, and when I sampled text to apply formatting, it strangely applied a black rule around the new text. The problem was intermittent, with the tool both working and not working within the same document. I finally realized the tool was misbehaving when sampling an item on the document, but worked fine when sampling images or text on the pasteboard.
So, the document I'm working on is an ad with a 1pt rule around the border. I have the border on it's own layer at the top level, and locked, so I can select items on the ad without the border getting in the way. What I found is, even though it's locked, the eyedropper tool is sampling the border from that layer!
I tried turning off stroke settings in the eyedropper options just gave my text a fill of 'none.' Turning off both stroke and fill settings had no effect on the new text at all. I tried unlocking the layer and just locking the border on it's own, but it still picked up the formatting from the border.
The only thing that worked is to hide the layer! Turn off the layer 'eyeball' and see if that works for you. -
SiteCatalyst as a Statistic tool for online publications through Indesign CS5?
Does anyone know if it is possible to use Omnitures SiteCatalyst as a tool by getting statistics for an online publication (magazine) made in Indesign CS5?

Problems Updating Producer Tools - InDesign CS5.5
Hi,
I am trying to update the Folio Producer tools in InDesign CS5.5, but each time I unzip the files, Windows shows duplicate files and then prompts for actions; keep original files and new files (same name but different sizes and creation dates), replace the same name files with the latest versions or include the duplicate files.
I have tried each option but cannot get any of them to work. At each stage I have tried the “set-up exe” but a pop up informs me that the file cannot be found.
I also uninstalled the Folio Producer tools and the Folio Builder before attempting to install updated versions of both packages. The order I used to install the updated packages was Folio Producer tools first and then Folio Builder.
OS: Win7 Enterprise
InDesign: CS5.5
Producer Tools: V 1.10.1
Duplicate files: 130!
Can anyone PLEASE help me out with a solution?

It doesn´t demage my work, it´s only glitch effect. But it delay me in work, it´s not pleasant to work with this glitch effects

Folio Producer Tools in both InDesign CS5 and CS5.5
Two versions installed (InDesign CS5 + CS5.5 - Win7-64Bits). I installed the Folio Producer Tools / Panel in both, but on version 5.5 "Extensions" menu does not appear. What is the solution to the problem?
Uninstalled and reinstalled Folio Producer and Folio Panel, but there's no "Extensions" in Window menu. Another tip?

InDesign CS5.5 Can't select Move Tool
I have InDesign CS5.5 installed on a desktop (Windows 7 Home) and it's working fine. I installed it on a second desktop (Windows 7 Professional). It seemed to install and update fine. However, if I create a new document and drag a rectangle I can't access the move tool to move it and I can't change the size/position using the boxes under the menu bar.
Any suggestions.

I needed InDesign on the second computer because of a major project with
a short deadline. I was very frustrated not being able to get it to work
and spent about six hours over three days working on it.
The issue was that I was using a Dell 27'' Ultra Sharp monitor
(2560x1440) with the text set to 150%.
Resetting it to Normal, 100% fixed the issue. I had to lower the
resolution a little to be able to read the text, but it's fine.
I did try to search for an answer but never associated the issue with a
resolution issue. Never would have thought to do that.
I did mark the answer as correct.

How to make previous version documents(CS1 and CS3) without extension readable in InDesign CS5
I have some previous version documents of CS1 and CS3 on Mac which have been saved without any extension e.g 300, CS3doc etc.
When I open such documents in InDesign CS5 they appear to be unreadable . Only on selecting 'All documents' filter I am able to open those documents.
I want to make all such documents (which are without extension) readable with 'All Readable Documents ' also .
How I can do that, please help me !!!!!The first thing I'd do is make sure the issue is really what I suspect it is - i.e. I suspect your extension-less documents don't have the proper type and creator.
If you fire up a Terminal window, you should be able to use the GetFileInfo command to check one of the files:
Assume 'sampleFile' is sitting on your desktop, you'd do
GetFileInfo ~/Desktop/sampleFile
(not sure when/whether GetFileInfo is installed on a Mac - I think it used to be part of Apple's developer tools, but on my Snow Leopard it resides in /usr/bin)
Check what it says for 'type' and 'creator'.
If these are not correct, we've confirmed that that's the reason why they don't show up in your file dialog.
If the issue is type/creator related, I can think of the following options:
a) Change your code to accept ANY file type/extension - I suspect this would work (not tested!):
openFileDialog->AddType( '????' );
If memory serves right, '????' should be accepted as a wildcard.
b) correct the file types BEFORE they are viewed in the File Dialog - for example, if these files are in a very specific folder somewhere, you might be able to scan the folder, and correct their type and creator (e.g. iterate through all extensionless files in folder 'xyz' and change their type and creator). A lot depends on how those files get there, and whether they are tied to a specific folder or not - are they 'old' files, or are they being generated in some workflow? If they're all over a user's system or all over a file server, such pre-scanning and cleaning up file types approach will be a no-go.

InDesign CS5.5 crashes when trying to open or create files on Yosemite
Hi,
I've just recently migrated to a new iMac running Yosemite. Photoshop CS5.1, Illustrator 5.1 and Bridge 5.1 are working fine but I'm having major issues with InDesign CS5.5. Every time I try to open an existing file or create a new one the programme freezes and I have to force quit.
I've trawled the forums and have done everything mentioned including uninstalling/reinstalling, removing temporary cache files and preferences, removing Data Store, deleting the Adobe font list, and removing the SING component.
I ran Activity Monitor and have uploaded the details to Sample of InDesign - Pastebin.com and the Crash Report to http://pastebin.com/KdEEWadj
Please help, I'm getting desperate!

DanCS5.x is not compatible to Yosemite. It may or may not run, if it does never without problems.
Adobe applications should never be installed via migration. It is always making problems in the long run. If you have done so, deinstall them immediately, run Adobe's Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool (available on Adobe's Website) and install any application from it original installer.
I recommend to upgrade to a CC subscription. CS6 might also work, but it is now very old and 2 to 3 versions after CS6 have been released. If you get a new system upgrade it is NOT guaranteed that it will work as CS6 is now at the end if not out of its product life cycle. -
Why do I have to reinstall InDesign CS5.5 at every start-up?
I've had InDesign CS5.5 only a few days and have had to reinstall it everyday. It installed fine from the disk the first time. I used it for a couple hours, ran perfectly. I turned off my laptop that night and the next morning when I went to use InDesign again I received the following error message and was unable to access the software:
Adobe InDesign is missing required files. Please reinstall.
Missing files: \Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Type Support\...\CP1252.TXT
Each time I have reinstalled and once again the program works fine. Until I turn off my laptop. I thought an old trial of InDesign might be part of the issue but I've uninstalled all that and still have the same problem.
Running Windows 7 Professional on a Dell Vostro laptop. Intel i5. 4GB RAM

-NThere have been two similar reports in the last year or so that I can find, and it looks like an installer problem when CS3 was previously installed (did you have CS3 or CS4 installed and remove it?).
What seems to be happening is that the type support files aren't properly written to the correct location, and it wasn't entirely clear to me this morning if either previous report was finally resolved. That said, I'd do the following:
Uninstall using Windows control panel.
Reboot
Run the CS5 clean tool: Resolve installation problems with CS5 Cleaner Tool
Run MSconfig and trun off non-essential startups, especially antivirus, browser helpers and toolbars, iTunes, and instant messengers.
Reinstall any versions you want, in chronological order. Be sure InDesign is installed into the Program Files (x86) folder (this should happen automatically if you leave the default location).
Run MSconfig again and restore normal startup. -
I am running InDesign CS5.5 and trying to open an In Design File but getting an error message. " Cannot open the file "PDavidLCover.indd". Since you've shown us the folder contents it's a good bet it isn't in use (no lock file). And it doesn't look like the file is mis-named as there doesn't seem to be anything else there that would be the .indd file (but just in case, open it in TextEdit and paste the first few lines here so we can see what the file header says), so the most likely case is the file is damaged. Is that on a removable device of some sort?
You can try the tool at Repair corrupt InDesign Adobe files on Mac OS X or send me a link to the file by private message and I'll try the recovery tool I have for Windows.
