My Indesign was working fine until about 3 weeks ago when it started crashing when exporting a pdf. For one day last week that seemed to resolve itself, then just yesterday I cannot open the program at all.
I am going to check conflicts, any advice?

Start by replacing your prefs. See Replace Your Preferences
If that doewsn't work, try a System Restore to a point before the crash (probably won't work), and then a "Repair" from the original installer. If nothing works, it's time to uninstall and reinstall.

  • Photoshop CS5 will not start after Outlook

If I start Outlook (Office 2007) as the first application after loading OS (Win 7 Ult, 64 bit), Photoshop CS5 will not open (message: "needs to close down). I then have to log off and in again and start Photoshop before Outlook to get it to work. I seem to remember having this kind of problem some years ago - but do not remember whats caused this problem. Is there anybody out there having the same kind of trouble? Or even better - the solution?

Hmm... I have CS5 Master Collection, and MS Office 2007, and I have never had any problems opening ANY program, in ANY order

  • WDS service will not start Windows Server 2012 R2 with Update

    Greetings,
After building my WSE box clean with new hardware and with Update version of WiSE 2012 R2, I find that it let me set up Windows Client Restore but now the WDS Service will not start for love nor money.
Any suggestions?  Am I missing a Win-PE boot Image?  Should I do something else?
    Please assist,
    Bob Hessenauer

    All,
The problem was a conflict between DHCP and WDS.  Followed the instructions in this article and all is now fine:

  • MacBook Pro 15" (Late 2013, 11.3) will not install Windows 7SP1 Pro

    Hi All,
I have had many go's at this, but I am unable to install Windows 7 bootcamp on my late 2013 15" retina macbook pro.
First I'll head off with the specs:
    Model Name: MacBook Pro
      Model Identifier: MacBookPro11,3
      Processor Name: Intel Core i7
      Processor Speed: 2,3 GHz
      Number of Processors: 1
      Total Number of Cores: 4
L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB
      L3 Cache: 6 MB
      Memory: 16 GB
      Boot ROM Version: MBP112.0138.B02
      SMC Version (system): 2.19f3
NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M (and the Intel of course)
      512GB SSD
      16GB USB3 thumbdrive
      Windows 7SP1-U
      Windows 8.1
    First try:
Run bootcamp assistant (Version 5.1.2 (484))
Let it run and run, changed the partition to 101GB, eventually at the installer screen it asks for drivers. Dunno which, but keyboard and mouse fully functional
    Second Try:
Run bootcamp assistant (Version 5.1.2 (484))
    Update drivers from BootCamp5.1.5621
Same issue... no drivers for, I don't know which driver
    Third Try:
Run bootcamp assistant (Version 5.1.2 (484))
    Update drivers from BootCamp5.1.5621
boot with alt and boot into osx
remove the partition made by assistant and redo that by making a exFAT
reboot and start windows installer from USB
Same issue... no drivers for, I don't know which driver
    Fourth try:
Same as third, but with a USB2 thumbdrive
    fail...
    Fifth try:
Run bootcamp assistant (Version 5.1.2 (484))
Copied Intel(R)_USB_3.0_eXtensible_Host_Controller_Driver (read it somewhere but cant find the page anymore, downloaded from the Intel site)
Reboot, no KB/mouse so that failed
    Sixth Try:
Run bootcamp assistant (Version 5.1.2 (484)) but with a Windows 8.1 ISO
    Update drivers from BootCamp5.1.5621
Finally I had the opportunity to install Windows, but... v8. (and I want 7)
Let the install continue, but exited after 1 hour staring at "almost finished"
    Seventh try:
Run bootcamp assistant (Version 5.1.2 (484)) but with a Windows 8.1 ISO
    Update drivers from BootCamp5.1.5621
boot with alt and boot into osx
remove the partition made by assistant and redo that by making a exFAT
reboot and start windows installer from USB
Let the install continue, but exited after 45 minutes staring at "almost finished" (less patient this time)
    Eight try:
Same as try #2, hoping to get lucky....?
Unfortunately I can't come up with options. So any suggestions are welcome!
Maybe Win7 will never install on this
Maybe I need a different Windows 8 ISO
Can't go back to OSX 10.8 as it's not supported on this Macbook.
Ow... and why do I want Windows? Need to test several pieces of software which don't run on Mac
(also wanna play the Windows games with Steam in freetime)
    Thanks!!!!

There are two options, keep the Time Machine HDD connected full time or turn Time Machine off and on only when you want to make the backup.

  • CS5 will not start

    Hi Guys.  After running perfectly for months my CS5 will now not start from either the icons or the applications folder.  I've done the following;
    1. Uuninstalled it.
    2. Deleted all the relevant folders.
    3. Run the clean up utility.
    4. Rebooted the computer.
    5, Reinstalled CS5.
    6. Run the updater.
    7. Restarted the computer.
Everything else (Bridge, RAW etc) works fine, and if I open the CS5 package and run the unix executable it fires up.  The terminal window does say "No javatime present, requesting insatll", but I have the latest Java running on my machine.  I'm running OSX on a 2012 imac i7.  All software and drivers are upto date.  Any ideas?  Thanks.

  • Satellite M115-S3154 will not start Windows XP

Opened new post per Jerry concerning my 3yr old Satellite: M115-S3154 w/ Windows XP Media Ctr Ed 2005
Yesterday upon start up, I immediately rec'd message stating:
    - "windows did not start successfully - recent hardware or software changes might have caused this"
    - it gave options to restart in the 3 different Safe Modes, last known configuration and start normally - none of these worked. I've tried numerous times yesterday and today with absolutely no luck.
When I shut laptop down 2nites ago, it seemed like it shut down extremely fast?! Today I realized that battery yellow light was on and thought maybe it wasn't charged enough. Charged for over 2hrs, have a blue light, but still had same experience as above.
    - I removed and replaced battery - no luck
    - I removed and replaced HDD - no luck
I just now, followed your advice on pressing F8 immediately after start - however, there is no repair mode or whatever you mentioned under the Windows Advanced Options Menu for this laptop - what I do have is
= the 3 different Safe modes - tried all these, no help
= Enable Boot Logging - tried this, no help
    = Enable VGA Mode
= Last Known Good Configuration... - tried this, no help
= Directory Services Restore Mode (Windows domain controllers only) - tried this, no help
= Debugging Mode -    tried this, no help
= Disable automatic restart on system failure
= Start Windows Normally - tried this, no help
= Reboot - tried this, no help
= Return to OS Choices Menu
I attempted the Microsoft Knowledge Base article suggested by Jerry -
Advanced troubleshooting for general startup problems in Windows XP - but no help.
I also tried MS article 310353 - How to configure WinXP to start in a "clean boot", but under Method 1, the downloadable guided help would not run on this computer i'm using to figure out the Toshiba problem. Method 2 of this guide requires you to be able to open windows - pretty dumb since I can't get windows to run in first place! So I'm still stuck.
I do have the original Toshiba Recovery and Applications CD - I have many files and pics that I do not want to lose.
    thanks roo

there is no repair mode or whatever you mentioned under the Windows Advanced Options Menu for this laptop
That was for the Windows Vista thread you jumped in to.
= Disable automatic restart on system failure
Did you try this one? Instead of a reboot, it should give you a blue screen with the STOP error and possibly the file responsible. We could use that information.
Ihave many files and pics that I do not want to lose.
If the hard drive is still okay (there's no reason so far to doubt that), we should be able to rescue the files.
One way is to put the hard drive in an enclosure and plug that into another computer.
You can also make a bootable CD with tools. Let us know.

  • Foxfire will not start. windows 7 home premium

After downloading and installing FoxFire, and pinning the icon to the taskbar, it will not open when it is selected. I can double-click the icon on the desktop, in the taskbar, or under the start button, all that happens is the spinning circle appears with the mouse pointer for a few seconds, then disappears. The program does not open, nor does it appear in the task manager list of running applications. If it won't open, I can't use it, rendering it useless.

hello BobLewis, as such a problem can sometimes be caused by malware that is active on the system, i'd recommend to run a scan with different security tools like the [http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free free version of malwarebytes], [http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/adwcleaner/ adwcleaner] & [http://www.kaspersky.com/security-scan kaspersky security scan].

  • Indesign CS5 will not load, it crashes

I am unable to load InDesign CS5 on a new MacBookPro with Yosemite 10.10.1, can this be fixed?

How did you install it? Migration doesn’t work.
If that’s what you did, uninstall, run the cleaner tool, and reinstall it correctly.
And please take note the CS5 is not supported under Yosemite. If it still isn’t working, I’m afraid you’re on your own.

  • PhotoShop CS5 (PS CS5) will not start

While configuring PS CS5, I removed the check
mark on my c:\scratch disc because I do not want
scratch files running on my systems disk. I kept
the scratch disks on my e:\, k:\, and g:\ drives and
configured them to be used in that order by PS
    CS5.
After completing the configuration, I restarted PS
CS5. Now, when PS CS5 starts the initialization
process and begins to load the scratch disks, the
    startup routine fails.
I get a dialog box with an Adobe Photoshop CS5
Extended error box, which contains a red circle
with an X that indicates an error, and the message
"Could not open a scratch file because the file is
locked or you do not have the necessary
privileges. Use the 'Properties' command in
Windows Explorer to unlock the file."
First the dialog box does not name the file to
unlock, so I do not know which file suffix indicates
what is and what is not a scratch file. Secondly, I
do not want to use my system drive, c:\, for a
scratch disk. Finally, how do you configue PS CS5
to properly restart, after the scratch disk
configuration is changed, after installation? This
seems to be the primary problem and I have never
observed it in any other release.

    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
    [email protected] wrote:
The other problem is that there does not appear to be any means to make a scratch drive on any drive, unless you also make one on the system drive, which is c:\. If you do not make a scratch drive on c:\, you will get the same error that I posted about.
Hi Luther, what you say isn't the normal case.  I actually have my scratch drive pointed at D: only and don't see the problem you are seeing.
It still sounds as if Photoshop cannot write to your other drive.  These kinds of problems can arise if a disk is moved from a system to another system, or if a different user sets up the system initially.
Do you see the problem if you start Photoshop via "Run as Administrator" (as Kathleen suggested above), or temporarily reduce your UAC level?
Keep in mind you're not actually running with privileges on Windows 7, even though your account may be an administrator account.  You have to elevate the privileges (or disable UAC, which has some downsides if you don't fully understand the security model).

  • Indesign CS3 will not launch - windows 7

    Hi,
I tried starting indesign last night but when I clicked on the launch icon on my task bar the icon glows I get the egg timer thing but nothing happens. I restarted the computer and it worked ok.
Then I tried it this morning and the same problem occured, however no amount of restarted helped this time. Windows did do some updates last night, but it seems that the problem was there before. I've searched on the internet and found a peice saying to restart in safe mode and launch it there, then flick back to standard mode and it should be ok.
When I did this the indesign loads but with a Error 148:3, and closes. Restarting, in standard, nothing has changed. I did some digging on the 148:3 problem and found an adobe fix, this has not worked either.
I have done nothing to the computer recently other than attach a new monitor (and can't really beleive that would be the cause)
I running windows 7 with the latest update.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks

  • Indesign CS5 will not fully open. All other CS5 Applications work fine.

I bought the student CS5 a few months ago, and havent needed indesign until recently. But when I got to open I select document (have tried other options with same result) file opens and I automatically get the spinning wheel of death. This never ends, and has continued for over an hour. So, I cant use Indesign at all.
Is there something I can do? I am completely updated and do so regularly.
    A un/reinstal of Indesign?
    Thanks for the help,

Impossible to tell without more info. Programs not opening when double-clicking their associated files can have all sorts of causes from trivial to complicated. Does the program actually launch when you open it directly? If so, can you open docs from within the program? What system do you use?

  • InDesign CS5 will not import Alpha Channels from images saved in Photoshop CS6

Just searched through the forums to find this thread in the (now-Read Only) Photoshop CS6 Beta forum:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4310886
Which is exactly the same issue I'm having. I just cropped about a 1000 images with alphas originally created in PS5 and resaved using PS6.
My client still uses CS5 and the images won't recognize the alpha channels in inDesign5.
I see in this thread that it said a fix for older versions of inDesign was being worked on, this was back in April.
Any news on these fixes? (before I open PS5 and resave all these files)

    Hi Peter,
The images in question all use alpha channels to mask out the image backgrounds (usually white) in InDesign layouts.
I opened the images in PS6 to crop out excess background (to get file size down) and saved the new files.
When I go to import the images one by one into InDesign 5 (via Cmd-D, Import options ticked) the Alpha Channel pull down menu is greyed out and I'm unable to select the Alpha Channel.
If I open the image in PS5 and resave, I'm then able to access the Alpha channels in ID5... but that's a lot of images to go back through to fix.
I also tried opening the layout in ID6 (where the alpha channels do work) and saving down to the idml format. When opening up in ID5 the alpha channel is no longer recognized and the background of the image that was masked out is now visible.
    Cheers,
    Alan

  • Itunes will not start windows 7

trying to install itunes onto a friends brand new windows 7 computer.  Did all windows updates (all manditory ones) and then installed quicktime, then itunes.  When you click on itunes nothing happens, you get about 1/2 a second of the spinning circle and then nothing.
Holding ctrl/shift you get the message about starting in safe mode, then after hitting OK it goes away and nothing happens.
In task manager once you click it you can see the processes come up, but nothing ever comes on the screen/leads you to believe it is started.
After all of this I tried pulling the partition and once again reinstalling vanilla windows 7, no luck.  Uninstalled everything that says apple on it and did a full windows update, reinstalled itunes, same thing.
I am at a total loss.  Tried installing it on my personal PC and it goes perfectly, starts right up.

    i have this problem
    Itunes is a total joke
