InDesign CS5 won't save rotated views as PDF
I'm using InDesign CS5 to create a calendar. I am using rotated view for the spreads. I have page 4-27 I want to send to my client for proofing. I only want the "smallest File" for screen viewing ioption. I've never had a problem creating PDFs. This is the first time using viewer spreads rotated. Wondering if this is creating the problem.
The background task panel has been stuck at 42% for over an hour. InD won't let me quit the save. It won't allow me to close the project window, or Force quit the program.
Assistance needed!!!
Thank you for your reply. I did know about the rotated view not transating in the PDF. I was wondering though if it affected the speed of the PDF creating...undoing the rotation.
I was under a time crunch to send off a proof, so after finally force quitting ID, I saved each spread as a separate PDF and then compiled them into a multi-page PDF. It all went without a hiccup. Possibly if I had restarted my computer, opened ID and prepared the multi-pg PDF at that point, as suggested below, then it may have worked. I will be trying that at some point as I will have more comps to prepare as the project proceeds.

Indesign CS5 won't Save or Save as..
I have recently installed Mac OSX 10.6.3 (snow_leopard) onto my iMac and now for some reason Indesign CS5 will not save or save as.
It allows me to selecteither of them in the menu but nothing happens at all. If i try to close the document after making changes it just closes without asking if i want to save and i lose all the changes.
I have also gone to the extent of doing a clean installation of the OS & CS5 with no difference whatsoever.
Any ideas would be extremely helpful..
Thanksgo back to Replace Your Preferences to get the paths to the folders in your user library, then try moving the entire folders to the desktop and restart ID.
If it's still not working, John Hawkinson has mentioned some other files that seem to be involved when it works in one user and not another, but you'd have to do a search here as I don't know the names and locations for all of them (I'm on Windows). I think he's suggested these at least twice in the last month or so, so they should come up. -
InDesign CS5 Won't Launch. Anywhere!
I recently updated my MacBook Pro to OS X Yosemite and now my InDesign CS5 won't launch.
I did some online troubleshooting and it suggested uninstalling and starting again. This would be problematic as I don't have a CD drive so can't install the software and research shows that CS5 is no longer available to download.
My InDesign comes as part of the Acrobat Professional Package V9 - not sure of this makes a difference!
Also, I tried downloading InDesign from CC, but it won't launch as it says I don't have the permission. Please help - I have a paper due for tomorrow!You can download the CS5 installer from the links at the bottom of this page: Download and Installation Help

I was using InDesign CS5 on my Mac Book Pro 17 and then purchased a new MacPro. I Transferred everything to my new laptop and every thing works except for InDesign and my Microsoft applications such as word, and Excell.

InDesign CS5 won't launch - missing plug-ins
InDesign CS5 won’t launch on Windows 7. I get the following error messages:
Cannot load the LINKS.RPLN plug-in
Cannot load the FONT USAGE DIALOG.RPLN plug-in
Cannot load the XMEDIA UI.RPLN plug-in
After these error messages InDesign crashes.
Do I need to reinstall the plug-ins?
If yes, how do I do that?I couldn't find a repair option so tried to reinstall InDesign as you've suggested. This doesen't seem to work either, as I received the following installation error:

My safari won't let me view a pdf link, nor can I save it as a document. How can I view these pdfs and links?
Have you installed Adobe Reader and its associated plugin? AFAIK, that's the preferred if not the only way to open PDFs in an embedded view within Safari.

Has anyone else experienced this serious bug, where InDesign 2014 won't save, save-as or otherwise? I just lost 2 hours of work because of this.
Right before this begins, I notice that the cursor will not honor the selected tool, showing only the black arrow.Can't save — AGAIN! This is a pretty serious bug. Is nobody else out there experiencing this? Notice there is no option to Save, Save as, Save a Copy, or otherwise.
I only have these types of problems with Adobe software — nothing else. -

Ditto issue, netbook NB200 Toshiba, trying the higher resolution. It is inconceivable to me that a firm of Adobe's reputation would automatically shut-out a very large section of the market place!
Also, it is a surprise with the hundred's of thousands of programs out there in the world that work just fine on netbooks, that they would not Highlight this issue on the download/purchase page (not hidden in technical specs page); and would also not have an installer that "warns" the user of the deficiency in their system at the beginning - with a clear description of what will/won't work!; Especially when upgrading in good faith from a system upon which it does work:(
In this instance, I was able to adjust the Monitor resoltion to 780 vertical (thank goodness it's available on the NB200 system) - and yes it does work...
I would never had realized this if the google'd search did not come up with this forum. What would have happened if I was travelling without internet connection as a photographer/videographer - which is quite often.

Indesign CS5 won't print specific pages within document
I'm working on Indesign CS5. The issue is with a specific document, and just started happening on version 11. All previous versions of the file have printed with no problems. I have so far determined that it is a document level problem as I can print other documents in Indesign with no issues. I have also determined which pages are giving me an error message: I can print all but one spread of this 16-page document. For example, it will print pages 1-9 and 12-16, but will not print 10-11. It gives it a try, and then gives me an error message box that just reads "error: " with no code or explaination. Any one else out there experienced this or know what's going on? There's no overset text, unlinked graphics or missing fonts, if that helps. Also, I'm working on a mac.
Edit: I have also already tried different print settings, and repasting everything into a new document that I created.If that doesn't work, move the pages from spread to a new document so you can play without risking the file you have now. First, try to print the spread as-is, then if it doesn't print remove half the objects and try again. If the file prints without removing anything, then move all the pages fromthe old file to a new one and save with a new name, then try again. If you have to remove objects, there is probably a problem with one of the objects on the spread. You'll bew able to isolate it very fast by dividing the group of things that won't print in half, then dividing the half that won't print, and so on.

Indesign CS5 won't collate prints on my LaserJet
I recently updated a bunch of things on my Mac work computer. We upgraded to Mac OS X Version 10.6.3 and we upgraded to Indesign CS5 (previously CS2).
I've noticed that it WILL print collated on one of our printers (HP LaserJet 3390) but it WON'T collate on my HP Color LaserJet 4600 for some reason. When I print it, the collate button is checked but the color printer just won't collate it. So I'm thinking it's something I need to do with the printer but I looked it up and it said something like Snow Leopard should have had all the driver updates for HP LaserJets...
I don't know much about drivers or updates or whatnot...so if anyone knows the problem, please explain it in detail. Thanks!Reinstall Photoshop CS5 to replace the files damaged by the MacOS 10.10 updater.

I've been having a problem recently when exporting to PDF in InDesign CS5. I get an error message which says:

InDesign CC will not save at all. Save and Save As are enabled, but I cannot save due to an error "The file DBTmp (followed by a long number) is damaged. I cannot export to IDML due to a background error. Please help.

I have been using InDesign CC just fine with no issues. I have one file that I have edited for at least a couple of months and have had no issues. All of a suddent today, it won't save. It has all the options to save, but never will actually save. A co-worker can open and save it with no issue, but now I can't. Any thoughts?It's a known issue that you can have problems saving an InDesign file if you've dragged and dropped from the Finder or from Adobe Bridge. It's expected that there will be an update to fix this and other performance issues before too long.
In the meantime, using File > Place instead of drag-and-drop. -
Background:
I had been using InDesign CS5 for a couple years on my Win7 Ultimate x64 machine. A year and a half ago, I reloaded the OS and didn't reinstall InDesign as I didn't need it then. It's used for a once-yearly project near year-end. My InDesign CS5 is the Pagemaker upgrade, - the install is from the download file gotten via the download manager when licensed from Adobe in 2010. I think it had updated to CS5.5 during that period but I don't have any files to install CS5.5,
Problem:
Tried to re-install it now, and the installer fails. It accepts the serial number but does not complete: ***I've attached the complete list of error messages at the end of this post. I've tried the install multiple times - initially with all the InDesign bells and whistles, then reboot and retried, and then again after rebooting a second time with none of the InDesign extensions chosen (thinking maybe one of those might be the cause) but no changes in symptoms.
Discussion:
I am thinking it is either something fundamental with InDesign CS5 conflicting with some Win7 update since the time when InDesign CS5 worked, or an interaction with the other Adobe products.
Other Adobe products on the machine:
Added after the time InDesign had worked
Lightroom 3.6, Lightroom 5.7, and Adobe DNG converter.
Had been on, back when it all worked fine:
Photoshop CS5, Dreamweaver CS3, Acrobat 8 Standard and Adobe Reader XI. Helper apps are: Bridge CS3 and CS5, Extension Manager CS3 and CS5, Extendscript Toolkit 2 and CS5 and Device Central CS3 and CS5.

Needed to then go through your CCleaner process. Uninstalled everything, did the CCleaner and then reinstalled in release order (most recent versions last). At that point, all the programs worked fine but would not update. To get update working again, needed to find the link to the current standalone Application Manager exe file. Ran that and now all is right as rain.
