InDesign CS6 & Acrobat X Pro Issues

When I create a form in InDesign CS6 and import it into Acrobat X Pro, and then Export as PDF, when you fill in the form, nothing shows or prints, but the data is there when you click on the field.
So... I delete the form fields from InDesign and recreate them in Acrobat X Pro. Now the fields show and print correctly. Happens on both PC/Mac. Ultimate destination for the forms is on the Android OS for Galaxy 10.1 tablet.
But... the calculate fields that worked before now do NOT work in the recreated fields from Acrobat X Pro. Worse, no options show up at all when you click "Pick" to select the fields to calculate. Need HELP as soon as possible so I don't lose a good client.

Here's what I posted in the other topic you posted in:
In this case you can also use the simplified field notation, though it would be much easier if you were to change your field names. For example, the first row you want to sum the following two fields:
"REG. HRS" and "O.T. HRS"
Since the field names include the period and space characters these need to be escaped, so you'd have to enter the following:
REG\.\ HRS + O\.T\.\ HRS
If you were to change the names to:
"REG_HRS" and "OT_HRS"
The simplified field notation entry would be simply:
REG_HRS + OT_HRS
If you were to further refine the field naming scheme to something like:
Row 1:  R1.REG_HRS, R1.OT_HRS
Row 2:  R2.REG_HRS, R2.OT_HRS
A single script could be used for all of the rows, and called in the calculate event of each "DAILY TOTAL" field. I realize this may sound like jibberish at the moment, but if you want to pursue it, post again. In the mean time, the simplified field notation option will work.

  • Acrobat 9 Pro issues with thumbnails.

I've noticed the following issues in Acrobat 9 Pro. Any ideas on these would be helpful.
In the thumbnails view, for larger documents, the last page (thumbnail) is always out of view and I can't scroll down any further to see it.
In previous versions, to replace a page, I could drag a page from another PDF and hover over the thumbnail page number. When the thumbnail was highlighted, that page would be replaced with the new one.

    thanks Mylenium
the font association problem is something recent though, since I used acrobat to print mails directly from my gmail account previously...
it's galling but I installed a free pdf printer which does the job, I needed copies of these mails urgently !
as to the update issue, I see no aum.exe, msiexec.exe or setup.exe running... but that's quite above my head... do I look for those exact processes or are they generic names for processes ?
does my question make sense ????

  • Acrobat Xl Pro issues

    I'm using a Mac Maverick 10.9.4
Adobe Acrobat XI Pro - Version 11.0.7
This application seems to be very unstable and I don't really use it because of the issues I have with it, and expensive purchase!
My main issue is that I can't combine pdfs into one document. I go through the process and it freezes apparently 'checking for security settings...' with the blue progress bar frozen half way.
    Any ideas anyone?
Other less important things.. The red 'closure' button never works on any document - enjoying more than anything.
Creating a form.. select "from scratch or template' - when I click 'Launch', expecting a page of templates to choose, nothing happens!
    Any help gratefully received..
    Rick

First thing I would try is to update Acrobat to 11.0.09.
Next I would suggest to ask in the Acrobat forum; this is the forum for Acrobat.com online services.

  • Adobe Acrobat X Pro Issue

I have created an action which convert tmp files into pdf  in adobe acrobat X pro .Now I want to run that .sequ (action) daily  by creating a batch file.
Is there any way how i can use it through asp.net C# (any version).

is your harddrive 1tb or larger?  if so, you'll need to partition that drive to use acrobat x on it.
    otherwise:
    uninstall acrobat X
    run the cleaner, http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html
    restart your computer
if you're using windows, right click the installation file and click "run as administrator"

  • Setting up Acrobat XI Pro issues

In the final part of installing Acrobat XI Pro, I am asked for the serial number and to select the version from a down down list. I have the SN and typed it into the field. Problem is, Acrobat XI Pro is NOT on the listing.  I have added this download to My Adobe listing of downloads, but it will not update to include XI into the list . . . Can you help?

you have the acrobat pro xi installation file downloaded onto your computer?
if yes, after you start the installation, it stops somewhere for user input?
if yes, attach a screenshot showing where it stops (usually a panel for you to enter your serial number) but if you're presented with a panel with a combobox/dropdown show that, http://forums.adobe.com/message/4209263#4209263

  • InDesign CS6 Linked Word file issue

Hi, I have a number of 100+ page InDesign files which have a large (linked) Word file that threads though multiple text boxes throughout all of the document pages.
The files need to be shared amongst multiple computers within our studio. This setup was used with InDesign CS5.5 last year and worked fine, it was still working fine with CS5.5 this year but we needed to upgrade to CS6.
We have the trial version of CS6 installed throughout the studio now however we have been having big problems just opening the InDesign files up in CS6. They predominantly seemed to only open up 95% of the way and then hang (spinning wheel) and when (on occasion) we did get 1 open, it was clearly struggling and normally crashed. Can't get most open at all any more.
I have tried opening files on different computers (Mac & PC), tried changing format of linked Word file, the only thing that seemed to ever work was breaking the link to the Word file
(from within CS6) and then saving without Word file linked. This is not ideal for our workflow but even if we wanted to do this to all files, I am unable to even get in to some of them to unlink them now (as they are now all saved as CS6 files which won't open). Moving Word doc from location (so that InDesign can't pick it up) also doesn't work.
I have tried deleting InDesign preferences & all recovery files several times, still no joy. It may be related to being on the trial version (seeing as 5.5 still seems fine) but I am hesitant to upgrade everything if it is not going to work. Does anyone have any ideas??

Thanks Peter (and Bob), thought last solution was going to be a winner but still hangs at same point (on several files) unfortunately.
Strangely, an older version of one of the files (a CS6 one that is linked to the same Word file) just opened, which suggests to me that the issue may not actually be wholly to do with it linking to the Word file.
We just setup a brand new PC with just CS6 trial & Office on it, copied InDesign files to desktop, turned off the auto link boxes in preferences and still no luck. Getting close to giving up stage I think, just can't figure out the cause.

  • Acrobat 6 Pro--issues collating?

I am trying to print a 49 page document using Adobe Acrobat 6.0 Professional on a Windows network. I am printing to an HP Color LaserJet 2605dn. When I try to print multiple copies of the document, and check the "collate" box in the print window, I simply get 3 copies of each page, which I then have to collate.
Another computer in the office which has Acrobat 8 (not Pro) does not seem to have this problem.
Obviously, the short-term solution is to print from the computer with 8, but it's (a) on the other side of the office from the printer, and when I'm printing multiple copies I need to be close by to refill paper etc. and (b) I often need the features that Professional offers (reducing file size, inserting/extracting pages).
Is this collating issue an inherent problem with 6.0, thus requiring an upgrade? Or is there some "hidden" setting somewhere I have overlooked?
    Thanks

    That did the trick!
I used the "repair" function (which I had never even noticed) and after a bit of confusing directions, the program re-installed correctly and I was able to launch it. (I'm afraid to try it again, of course).
Thanks so much for that tip. No one at Adobe seemed to have a clue and even my techie friends hadn't thought of it.
    Much obliged.

  • InDesign cs6 and cscc compatiblity issues

I packaged my Indesign CC document and sent it to printers.  I then saved same document as itml as they only had CS6.  When they opened it, and linked it to the files in the package, we had two problems - one where a totally wrong picture was placed, and another where two correct pictures were placed, but at 45 degree angles to what they should have been.  The CC document from the package however, linked correctly.  Any idea why this happened and what i can do to prevent, other than tell printers to upgrade!?

    According to Bob Levine...
Sign into creative.adobe.com and go to the download center.
    Click on InDesign.
Scroll down to to in this version and change the drop down to CS6.
On my system I already have CS6 installed, so I see it listed under updates in the CC desktop app, so you might want to just take a look there, too.

  • CS6 Acrobat x Pro

This is not a question as such, but just to say that I tried the fix in the announcement, and all seems good for the moment.
It works, yay, but for how long is the question in my head.

    Hi ndesign1,
Glad to know the fix worked for you. This was a known issue with Acrobat X installed as a part of a suite.
Please refer the Kb Doc : http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/acrobat-failed-launch-30-days.html
The steps you followed in the announcement section is one of the solutions listed in the Kb above.
In case it recurs you can run the patch file in the above KB for a permanent fix.

  • Changing regional settings in CS6/Acrobat X Pro

    Hello,
I have just installed CS6 and would like to change the regional settings from USA to European A4.
The following test has been done:
Created customised A4 job options for each of: Standard Quality, High Quality, Press Quality
Then edited preference for Conversion from Microsoft Word to PDF using new job option 'Standard Quality A4'
PDF created is still in Letter sizing after rebooting machine.
Note: the original Microsoft Word file has a page setup of A4.
What is the best way to make wholesale changes across Adobe CS6 so that millimetres/A4 settings are the default ?
    Thank you.

    Hi Cre8tiveNess,
You need to set the same preferences in Control Panel > Adobe PDF Printer > Printing preferences.

  • Acrobat XI Pro is really sluggish

Just wondering if anyone might know why after upgrading to CS6, Acrobat XI Pro runs really slow when viewing documents - can take up to 10 seconds to load a document under 1mb. Also the Outlook PDF Previewer has the same issue, takes a long time to load the PDF, sometimes up to 30 seconds. Driving me nuts much, very much. Just uninstalled it and put 9.3 back on my system but because 9.3 was for Vista, I'm running Windows 7 and the Outlook Previewer won't work at all now, grrr.
    Cheers!

I'm experiencing the same thing after upgrading from Acrobat Pro 9 to Acrobat Pro XI.
I have a 2.8 Ghz MacBook Pro 15 Retina w/ 16Gb RAM and Acrobat Pro XI is unbearably slow.
It takes several seconds litterally from selecting a search result until Acrobat updates the document.
Searching with indexes is quite fast though -- it's the hyperlink navigation that really makes working with PDF a productivity killer.
I noticed that Acrobat Pro XI is a 32-bit app on Mac OSX (10.8.3). Since hyperlink navigation involves a significant interaction with the OS itself,
I suspect that there must be some really ancient library still in there that causes a performance bottleneck -- at least for Mac OSX.

  • If-Then-Funtion bei Acrobat 9 Pro

    Sehr geehrte Acrobat-Nutzer,
    eure anna

It's now been almost 4 months since I encountered this "issue".  Some extra information would be that, when I first posted this topic, I was using a "free" (read between the lines) version of Acrobat 8 Pro.  SInce that time, I have actually purchsed Acrobat 9 Pro and still have the problem with my program shutting down when trying to select the Preferences link.  What gives?  What would cause this.  And before someone else says, try repairing the software, I have done that as well as making sure there are no updates available.
As an aside, I am another one that is disgusted with Adobe for not making the one click PDF Creator funcional in Office 2010.

  • Occasional letters missing in pdf document created in Acrobat XI Pro

I have been working on a pdf document created from Indesign By Acrobat XI Pro that will be for online download. The first version was fine. Links had to be added and some of the text coloured. After edits occasional letters have gone missing throughout the document. Why on earth is this happening? I now have to go through the entire document with a fine toothcomb before submitting it to my client again. It doesn't make me look good!
    Any ideas?
    Salli G.

I suspect that you somehow deleted the embedding of the fonts. Check the document properties and be sure all fonts are embedded.
