InDesign CS6 can't read EPS files from earlier version of InDesign

I have a series of six violin method books (Kaleidoscopes for Violin) that I created in InDesign CS2.
Having now upgraded to InDesign CS6, all of the EPS files used in these books -- hundreds and hundreds of files -- are unreadable by the program.  I receive the error message, "Error encountered while reading TIFF image. Image may be damaged or incompatible. Resave the image with different settings and try again."
Another user, ratgui, reported this problem on February 2, 2013 (two months ago) and has received no response.  This user's files are also music files, imported from InDesign CS4 (more recent than mine).
Needless to say, there is nothing wrong with my EPS files, given that every single one of them was read correctly (and is still read correctly) by the older, supposedly less-advanced version of InDesign!  The only work-around currently is to save each image in PNG format (luckily Sibelius exports to PNG).  For 600-800 files, this represents three or four full days of unnecessary work, and will double the number of images on my hard drive.
The EPS issue is a remarkably serious flaw in a software package that costs many hundreds of dollars, especially given that I posted the same problem in response to the release of InDesign CS5.  A response (and, I daresay, a software update that fixes the problem) would be greatly appreciated.
As a side note to the developers -- it is super, duper cumbersome that this error arises in a separate pop-up box for EVERY affected image.  These pop-up boxes must be dismissed one at a time.  Worse yet, once you have dismissed the error message for a given image, the message appears AGAIN if you return to the same page!!  This unnecessary hassle makes it impossible to even work with the underlying document.  Placing the error message in the links palette would save a great deal of headache.  It is fairly obvious that the images aren't being read properly ... they all appears as gray boxes.
Thanks!!

Hi Peter
Many thanks for your advice; I re-defined the printer presets and now it works fine.

  • How can I read pdf files from LabVIEW with different versions of Acrobat reader?

How can I read pdf files from LabVIEW with different versions of Acrobat reader?
I have made a LabVIEW program where I have possibility to read a PDF document.  When I made this LabVIEW program it was Acrobat Reader 5.0.5 that was installed on the PC. Lather when the Acrobat Reader was upgraded to version 6.0, there was an error when VI tries to launch the LabVIEW program. And Later again when we upgraded to Acrobat Reader 7.0.5 I must again do some changes and rebuild the EXE files again
It isn't so very big job to do the changes in one single LabVIEW program, but we have built a lot of LabVIEW programs so this take time to due changes every time vi update Acrobat Reader. (We have build EXE files.)
The job is to right click the ActiveX container and Click "Insert ActiveX Object", then I can brows the computer for the new version of acrobat Reader. After this I must rebuild all the "methods" in the Activex call to make the VI executable again.
Is there a way to build LabVIEW program so I don't have to do this job every time we update Acrobat Reader?
This LabVIEW program is written in LabVIEW 6.1, but I se the problem is the same in LabVIEW 8.2.

I'm new in Java Developing, and dont know the written classes yet. I need help, how to do the following steps?
    1. How can I read text files from LAN if I only know the hostname, or IP address? You need to know the URL of the file. You need to know the hostname, port, protocl and relative path.
The hostname is server, not file.
    2. How to read lines from text files without read all lines from the beginning of file, just seek to a position.Use the seek() to get to a random byte.
(ex. how can I read the 120th line?)The only way to find the 120th line is to read the first 120 lines. You can use other file formats to find the 120th line without reading the whole file but to need to be able to detremine where the 120th line is

I installed the InDesign CC Testversion and now i try to open INDD-Files from earlier Version. Always i get the error "This file is made by an earlier Version...." but it´s CC that is the latest Version. What is the problem ? Should i have to convert the files ?

Adobe has been using confusing version names for at least five years.
There are now two versions labeled CC, version 9 and version 10 (also known as CC 2014). Version 10 is the latest, and if you attempt to open a version 10 file in Version 9 that is not fully patched you will get an error message telling you that the file cannot be opened. The latest patch for version 9 should use a cloud-based service at Adobe to convert version 10 files to IDML and allow you to open that.
I suspect you may be using an older operating system. Version 10 requires that your system runs at least OS X 10.7 or Windows 7 SP1 and if you are not it will not even be offered to you.

  • I can't read my files from "pages" app on iPad after taping on "copy from iTunes". I see the name of the file but when I tap on it nothing happens.

I can't open my files (pdf) from "pages" app on ipad after taping on "copy from itunes". I see the name of the file but when I tap on it nothing happens.

The acsm file is not the book, it is a ticket to get the book.  I sometimes get library books online, here is what I do.
    1. Start ADE on the computer
    2. Go to library website and find the book I want to download.
    3. Click on the download link
    4. In windows 7 a box opens asking whether I want to open( or run) or save the acsm file
    5. Click open/run and ADE downloads the book into the "Library"
    6. Transfer the book (epub file) to the reader.

  • QTP can't read .mp4 files from JVC HM-100 cam...

My QTP gives me the following message when I try to open an .mp4 file created with a JVC HM-100 camera: "The movie could not be opened. The movie contains some invalid data."
VLC and iSkysoft (video converter) can read the file with no problem, so it can't be corrupt. I put a similar post in a thread about the JVC cam, but no one knew a solution.
Right now, it looks like the only way to convert the mp4 files from the JVC HM-100 is to buy a video converter software for $50 because QuicktimePro, which cost me $30, can't do this, even though it claims to support mp4. Any ideas here?
So in lieu of QTP, are video converters like iSkySoft reliable enough to use? Do I risk losing any quality? Am I forced to pay for 3rd party functionality again that I already paid for in QTP?
    Thanks... David

    Problem solved.
I used the FREE software ffmpegX to convert the mp4 files.
So why does FREE software do the job that PAY software like QTP promises to do, but can't deliver?
    Hmmm?

  • Can't read Raw files from EOS 700D in CS4

How do I update CS4 and Bridge with ACR 5.0 to accept .CR2 files from EOS 700D? Have tried downloading and installing ACR 5.7 but bridge still opens using 5.0. Any assistance greatly aappreciated, thanks.

As i already mentioned support for EOS D700 starts in ACR 7.4 so ACR 5.7 won't open Raw files from this camera.
However, you can use DNG converter to convert Raw files into DNG and import in CS4 aaplication.
The Digital Negative (DNG) format is Adobe’s proposed standard format for camera raw files. DNG files are useful for archiving camera raw images because they contain the raw camera sensor data and data specifying how the image should look. Camera raw image settings can be stored in DNG files instead of in sidecar XMP files or the camera raw database.
You can download the latest DNG convert from following place:
    Windows:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=106&platform=Windows
    Mac:

  • Can't read log files from /var/log with Geany

With the few exeptions like hibernate.log, I can't read most of those files, including:
    everything.log
    errors.log
    kernel.log
    messages.log
    syslog.log
When I try to open them (as root), all I get is
The file xxx.log does not look like a text file or the file encoding is not supported.
However, they do open with nano

If you want to only view the files (I assume this since those are logs), maybe try
    $ less -M <file>
You can navigate pretty well with it (e.g. go to a specific line).
    Edit:
You could also try to find if there is an option in Geany that would allow you to see "non-text" files.

  • Aperature can't read RAW files from my new Nikon D800. Help?

My Aperature is version 3.2.4 and I have done all the software updates.  I shoot in both JPEG and RAW, but aperature can only read the JPEG's.  Can anyone help?

The Nikon D800 raw support was included in "digital camera raw update 3.11", and that is the only one that I cannot find online any longer.
The raw support for Nikon D800 has now been moved directly into the latest MacOS X Releases - for MacOS X 10.7 it is built into MacOS X 10.7.4 or later, see: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4757
and for Mt. Lion it is included in all releases, see: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5371
But according to this list: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3825, if you are still using Snow Leopard, you will need the raw support from "digital camera raw update 3.11". What is the latest raw support you installed?

  • Can't read PDF file from SD card!

I'm trying to read PDF files on my Life Drive, which has Adobe Reader 3.05. The files are stored on a sd card. I know these files are on it, as I can see these through Windows XP. When I launch the reader, all I get is a blank screen, with the square with the word all next to it, and beam and delete. There is no "open file" to tap on.

    Hi,
Perhaps your pdf file is damaged or something. I think you can try a utility called Advanced PDF Repair to repair your PDF file. It works rather well for my corrupt PDF files. Its web address is http://www.datanumen.com/apdfr/

    Empty the trash.
    Relaunch Safari.
