InDesign CS6 Cannot Package Fonts on iMac

ID CS6 "Cannot copy necessary font(s)" when packaging. On iMac with OS10.6.8.
I looked at two previous threads that solved this by unlocking the offending fonts, or putting the fonts into the Applications > IndesignCS6 > Fonts folder. Neither of these solutions worked for me. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Did you try downloading a free utility like FontFinagler or FontNuke and running the utilty so that it deletes and resets the font plist cache (assuming Mac OS)? After a refresh of fonts plist and a reboot for good measure, see if that helps the situation.

PDF created with InDesign CS6, Helvetica Neue font, causes lower-case "r's" to be bold

The pdf was created from InDesign CS6 using Windows 7. I cannot recreate the problem on my machine, but it is happening on a coworker's machine. The only character affected is the lower-case r. It appears bold when viewing the pdf of his machine. I am also running Windows 7 and it looks fine to me. My boss is using a Mac and it also looks fine to her. Does anyone know what might be causing this problem?

Hmm...until it's isolated to the 'r' it surely sounds like the typical effect often caused by the "Enhance Thin Lines" preference setting in Acrobat/Reader/browser-x-plugin, which most commonly affects l's and i's.
It's also true that various servings of Helvetica Neue are at the center of many such tales of woe.
I'd recommend some simple testing on the co-worker's computer with PDF's produced under the same conditions using different fonts; perhaps some varied weights of the same Helvetica Neue.

InDesign does not package fonts used in placed .AI files

When we package a project for our print vendor, placed .AI files containing fonts do not get collected. I know those fonts are embedded in the .AI file when printing from InDesign, but sometimes our prep vendors need to make last minute edits to these .AI files before they RIP the project. Is there a way to have InDesign collect fonts from .AI files? I know we could use Illustrator .EPS format and uncheck "Embed Fonts", but our vendors prefer .AI files. Any add-on plugins available to solve this problem or other workarounds?

I suppose you could open each .ai file, go to select> object> text objects, copy, then paste into InDesign, save and package. Then delete the pasted type after packaging. This does not work with Zaph dingbats, symbol, or probably other "ornamental" fonts, which are converted to outline upon pasting.

InDesign CS6 OSX linked fonts not recognized

I am using InDesign CS6 on Mountain Lion and I received a document from a PC InDesign user with a linked AI image and document fonts folder included. When I launch the idd file the fonts are "missing".
OSX does not seem to recognize the font files in the document fonts folder as proper font files. In Finder they appear as Unix executable files..
I've tried disk repair/permissions repair, but neither seems to fix the problem.
Any ideas? Thanks!

Sounds like thy may be Windows Type 1 postscript fonts, in which case you would need to install them (both halves) into ID's private fonts folder.

Adobe Indesign CS6 not finding fonts

Dear Support,
Adobe Indesign is not detecting the font arial narrow bold, narrow italic, please can you inform what to do.
I have reinstalled the font in the windows\fonts folder restarted and still experience issues.
I have reinstalled adobe indesign cs6 and still no luck.

Not true. At the very same place as the InDesign document is saved should be a folder with the name "Document fonts" and in this folder you have to put all fonts.
You should also take care if the font family include a font with these styles and is compatible to your OS. Best practice is to use OTF fonts.

Finder within InDesign CS6 cannot find files

When I use the finder within InDesign CS6 to search for images or InDesign files it won't find the files. This is especially challenging when I am trying to re-link images. (When I search outside of InDesign, I find them, no problem.) I'm running Mac OS 10.7.4. Any suggestions?

My question was not well worded, but I didn't know what other way to put it. Thanks for your help. Yes, I can browse to the images, but I'm trying to avoid that by doing a search for the file name in the search field. The search field won't let me find InDesign files either. I've included a screen shot of the dialog box to explain.

Why does InDesign sometimes NOT package fonts?

Hi. I'm using the latest version of InDesign and lately, when I package files, I've noticed that the 'document fonts' folder is not always created in the finished packaged folder. There seems to be no pattern to when it does or does not include them. For instance, on one job it did include them, then on the same job when the artwork had been updated, it did not. Same typefaces etc. Any ideas?

Okay. So you do not have the latest version but you do have the most recent patch for CS5. I know there were some issues with Type 1 fonts but I’ve heard nothing about issues with Opentype or TrueType especially on Windows.

InDesign CS6 not Packaging

Hello,
We are having problems with InDesign on two out of our three mac's at work.
Simply put when we go to Package a document and click 'Package' on the summary page it proceeds to do nothing. It doesn't crash or anything like that but doesn't move on to the next 'Instructions.txt' page like it is supposed to.
I have struggled to find any mention of a similar problem online anywhere.
We have tried quitting out of InDesign and re-opening as well as restarting the machines to no avail.
Does anyone have a solution?

It won't even let me get as far as to choose a location.
Once I have clicked package in the status box (first box after clicking package in drop down menu) it just acts as if nothing has happened. As though I have pressed cancel instead of package...

InDesign CS6: Cannot open the file ...

Hi there,
I think I just blew my file by embedding every picture inside the file. It's a ~130 page long user guide with A LOT of pictures.
I saved it successfully a few days ago, and now tried to open it again to finish working with it. But then I get this error:
I'm a relatively new user to InDesign and didn't think much about it embedding all the stuff.
The file size grew to 11.5 GB. Which is a lot, but I was still able to work quite smoothely while it was open, so I thought everythings fine. System is Windows 7.
I've already searched the forums and didn't find any solutions on getting the file working again. Afaik it's the only file I have to use, no backups done. Biggest. Mistake. Ever. I know...

InDesign CS6 won't package fonts or package anything after installing OSx mavericks - Client is waiting

Pre-Mavericks I had zero problems packaging my INDD files in Adobe InDesign CS6 with all fonts and links intact. Now, when I go to package the same files I successfully packaged last year under Lion, InDesign tells me the fonts can't be packaged (and doesn't package anything else either). My client is becoming very frustrated so I would really appreciate some help from Adobe in solving this problem as soon as possible.

Which fonts are affected? - I'm assuming all of the fonts are affected since no fonts are able to be packaged.
Are all used fonts installed? - Yes
Did you have your fonts in a Document Fonts folder beside your old file and saved your new document on a different place? - Before I upgraded to Mavericks I was able to package everything for this exact same file so I do have fonts in the packaged folder (referring to my 2013 file) so even though the fonts aren't in a Documents folder (they are inside the package "Fonts" folder) so I think the answer to your question is yes.
Does your font folder have the same permession as the folder before? - I believe so because I never changed the permissions for the fonts
Do you use CS6 as part of the Creative Cloud and are you using TypeKit fonts? Or are you using the boxed version? - I am trying to avoid using Creative Cloud since I already have CS6 that I have already paid for. What I am reading on the internet, however, is that Adobe is forcing people to move over to CC when they upgrade to Mavericks due to problems like I am having now. I am not sure if this is true/untrue but I am definitely concerned. I can not afford right now to start paying a monthly fee (especially after I have already paid for CS6). I am using a boxed version of CS6 and I am not using TypeKit fonts.

Why are keystrokes repeating in InDesign CS6 (8.0.2)?

I'm using InDesign CS6 on a new 27" iMac that I bought in April running Mavericks 10.9.5 and suddenly when I type in my InDesign files, the keys are repeating and so are my mouse clicks (both are bluetooth devices. This is only happening in InDesign and in multiple files using different fonts. The typing is more noticeable than the clicks but the clicks are very frustrating also. I go to zoom or create a box and it won't let me so I have to move everything very slowly to get it to work. I'm baffled and losing money trying to figure this out. Please help!

No, I haven't because the problem is only in InDesign and only began in the last week or so.
I have repaired permissions and replaced Indesign preferences and temporary files. Not sure what else to do.

I am trying to help an employee get Adobe InDesign CS 6 installed on his Windows Computer.

Indesign CS6 not so kosher

Hello,
Please could somebody help - this is driving me nuts.
I am Running Indesign CS6.0.1 on an Imac (3ghz - 4gb Ram - Intel Core 2 Duo) using Lion 10.7.3.
I have designed a Catalogue for my company which is 85 pages. This is the first catalogue I have produced on CS6, but have been using Indesign for many many years with no problems.
The problem I am facing is that when I try to print the Book of the catalogue, it spools the first 40 odd pages with no problem, but then seems to randomly get stuck on subsequent pages. Like I said the page it gets stuck on is random, sometimes page 47, sometimes page 55 etc. I have gone into linked files and edited and fixed anything that I thought might be causing problems, to no avail.
I tried to convert to PDF, to then print via Acrobat. The same problem arises. Randomly gets stuck on pages.
I have now tried to split print the catalogue, ie first half, then second half. The first half (33 pages), has printed with no problem, but the second half is now stuck on page 60.
In addition to this. on certain occasions, it will just crash. This to seems to be random, as I have been busy with the exct same actions.
I have deleted preferences & saved data, updated to latest version. I have tried to print on another colleague's Mac Pro (he has 6gb Ram - same OS & indesign version), still with no change in result.
Other than reisntalling lower verson of Indesign, and coverting all my documents, I am at my wits end on how to solve this problem.
If anybody could help - I would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you for your quick response - it is greatly appreciated.
To clarify a little - The problem is occurring when I try to print directly to the Printer from Indesign. But I have been unable to complete the PDF export, as the same problem occurs when exporting, as when printing. I.e. The progress gets stalled on random pages. So I have been unable to try and print form Acrobat, or to even view the PDF document. (incomplete export).
The Printer we are using is a Canon iR ADV C5051 Laser printer.
I completely agree with you on need or lack there of, of re-installing.
I have just tried to split print the Book in 3 sections. To test if there are any problems in any particular parts of the book / documents, and whittle down the problem areas. This has spooled through & printed with no problems. Unfortunately this is not a practical way forward for me, when it comes time for me to print these catalogues out in bulk. (I print several hundred catalogues).
Please see below for the Link to the PDF catalogue. Again I have had to export the Book in sections and then combine it in Acrobat.

InDesign CS6 Probleme

InDesign CS6 Master: Manche Button und Memuefenster (Ebenen) reagieren ploetzlich nicht mehr.
Plötzlich reagieren einige Buttons nicht mehr (z.B. Schriften, oder einige Ebenenveränderungen). Bei Neu-Dateien oder auch bei gespeicherten Dateien.
Ich habe einige Schriftarten aus Window 7 (32 bit) aus dem Font-Ordner gelöscht. War ein Tipp aus Adobe. Ohne Erfolg.
Wieder Schriften in InDesign CS6 und Windows (Fonts-Ordner) von der Masten CS6-DVD hineinkopiert. Ohne Erfolg.
Ich habe InDesign CS6 deinstalliert - nach früheren Adobe-Vorgaben mit dem Clean-Tool und manueller Bereinigung. Dann erfolgte von der originalen DVD eine Neuinstallation von InDesign CS6. Keine Änderung der Probleme. Ohne Erfolg also.
In den anderen CS-Programmen von PhotoShop CS6 und Illustrator CS6 konnte ich keine Fehler entdecken.
Wer kann helfen?
