InDesign CS6 Crashing While Converting to PDF

Trying to convert a file to PDF and it is crashing repeatedly, regardless of the file I open.  I'm running OSX 10.8.2 and InDesign 8.0.1, I've renamed the preference and data files to no avail.
Here's the full error output:
http://pastebin.com/V5MBhWjh
Your help is greatly appreciated!

Hi MTrevinoJr
shnath is probably correct but surprised no one suggest to double check.
If on OSX 10.8.2, create a dummy account and login in, creates clean instance.
If it works in there, then suggest it is a font or job options issue.
To illuminate the fonts, suggest you use a proper font management tool such as http://www.fontexplorerx.com/mactrial/
Good luck

  • Indesign CS3 crash while generating an PDF or deleting an index entry

Indesign crashes when I will starting the PDF export. This happens in all Indesign documents which are converted from CS2 and with index entries. So I want to delete the index but Indesign crashes while deleting too. I tried to convert the files in .indx files but nothing changes. Indesign is still crashing.

Hi. Im having the same problems and tried everything. Indesign crashes not just on Exporting, but also Import and Save As. It mostly works with no problem for days and then all the sudden crashes and cant fix it, then in about an hour starts working again, with the exact same document. It seems to me like the software cant find the path it created with the document. For example, if I press just SAVE, its saves with no problem, but when I choose SAVE AS, Indesign crashes after opening the communication window.
I still have PowerBook, not MacBook Pro, and OS X 10.5.3, so I figured my computer cant handle the new system and CS3. Although Im not having any problems with Photoshop nor other CS3 software, just indesign.
I would really appreciate some advice or response.

  • Indesign CS6 crashes on export to PDF

This has happened to me several times in the past few months and it always seems to be related to an image file -- either an eps or pdf file that's in the document. Once I replace or remove the image, the PDF exporter works. The problem is that I cannot always replace or remove the offending image. I've contacted Adobe regarding this issue and sent them the files that caused the problem and they found no fault with either image. So why does this keep happening?
I thought it was a font issue, but the one document had no text in it -- just images. I've also tried the same file on my laptop (also running CS6) and the exact same thing happened where it crashed on export to PDF. I do not have any font managment software running on my laptop besides FontBook (whereas on my desktop I'm using Font Agent Pro).
    I'm on a mac OS 10.7.5 using CS6 Design & Web edition.
Here is the crash report for the latest problem: http://pastebin.com/zLQG7GE1

Hi, and thanksfor your help. I have tried deleting the font cache using onyx.. Is there a difference between the files onyx deletes and the ones font explorer can access? Anyhow, that had not helped, but safe starting the mac did.. Indesign would export to pdf without crashing.
Now I have tried to figure out what is causing the problem by force quitting process using the activity monitor. And I am struggeling to find the culprit. It still crashes even after turning off almost everything I can find. I have attached the full list of my current processes.. Anything stick out to you?
To answer the other questions, I have no plugins installed in indesign, and I use no font manager. I have use indesign without incident since june 2009, and it kindof just happened overnight, no new software or font was installed that I can recall, but also to be honest I cannot remeber when I last exported to pdf, so I cannot rule it out either, but I am hopeful that I can get to the bottom of this with your help.
Thank you both so much for your help.. My hair thanks you. As does everyone around me.. :-)

  • InDesign CS6 crash with export to PDF

When exporting to a PDF file (either print or interactive) in InDesign CS6, my program crashes sporadically, but consistently with one particular page. I have retyped that page several times, changing the graphics and bullets…and it still crashes. And now my InDesign CS5.5 is doing the same thing, but only with this page. Another page has exported just fine. The particular problem-causing page is only 1 page long and not a full page. Graphics are bullets (with color) and 4 PDF decorative corners and limited text.
My Mac is using OSX version 10.7.4. The iMac is an early 2009. This problem just started occurring. All of the discussion threads don't seem to address this particular problem.
I do rely on InDesign for my work.

First thing to try is: Remove minor corruption by exporting

  • Indesign randomly crashes while printing to pdf

    Hi
One of our users has a very frustraiting issue. The full CS3 suite was installed on his newley built windows 7 X64 system. And all updates have been applied. for a few days everything worked perfectly, but then when printing a broucher to PDF indesign crashed while downloading procset. From then on the user could not print anything, and the print queue said "downloading low level document". the only way we have found to resolve it once the error has occured is to restart the machine. once the machine has been restarted the printing will be fine again for a random amount of time before the same thing happens.
The machine has all the latetes updates for windows, CS3 and the adobe pdf driver. Is this a known issue and are there any work arounds
    Thanks in advance

I am having this EXACT same issue on my system. I am running 64bit Windows 7, and am using CS4 instead of CS3. Randomly, indesign crashes when printing a PDF at the 'DOWNLOADING PROCSET' status. From there, no PDF related things work. I can't print any PDF files to any printers, or print to PDF from any other applications.
Anyone have any ideas on this. It is a pain to have to restart my computer 5 to 6 times a day.

I have restarted my computer and I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software and the problem is persisting.
    Can anyone help?

  • InDesign CS6 crashes all the time while importing an image

InDesign CS6 crashes all the time while importing an image. Does anybody knows what's going on? How can I solve this problem. Please help me cause I can't work. Thanks a lot!

    AlgoritmoMX schrieb:
Thanks a lot for your quick response. I convert images to CMYK because it is best for me to see the final colors in screen when working in Photoshop. As you know, some colors (like green) have a lot of problems in rendering quite accurate when you work in RGB and then convert  to CMYK (greens tend to look very vivid in RGB and then very pale and lack of contrast when converted to CMYK). In doing so, it's not reliable for me to work in RGB and then convert to CMYK in RIP or in PDF export. When working in Photoshop, you have a more precise control of color when images are in CMYK, although we all know that the respresentation of CMYK on screen is just that, a merely representation of what it sholud look a CMYK image on screen (because screen works with RGB as you know).
Also,  my question and concern is that  ID should let you paste images in CMYK and tiff format also (not only PSD) , so what's the point in having those features if they are not going to work at all?
This problem never happened to me in earlier versions of ID.
    Thanks a lot again!
That is not true at all. You can turn on in Photoshop the CMYK proof preview which would look exactly the same as if you have converted the image to CMYK. A CMYK proof print from a RGB file with a profile has exactly the same output as if the file has been converted to CMYK under the same settings. Even if you have CMYK images, you see only a back converted RGB image on screen! This is a simulation and it is exactly the same simulation as if you would turn on the CMYK preview of a RGB image! You can see even the plates of a CMYK image.
A CMYK file has a size from 133% of the same file in RGB! So you have shuffle around in CMYK with more data than you would do with RGB images. InDesign is supposed to handle RGB images for print since version 2.0 and since CS (Version 3) it is working without problems. And it can do it better due to smaller file sizes than with CMYK! Try it and you will be astonished how much time and work you have wasted useless in converting images to CMYK.
Have a look to this discussion: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/753454
Other actions you might take is to resave the tiff image without any compression or with a different compression to force Photoshop to write the file completely new.

  • Indesign getting crash while exporting because of bad pdf inside file.

    Hi,
My indesing is getting crash while exporting to pdf. I have link to pdf file inside the indesign file, when i export that indesign file to pdf indesign is getting crash without showing any error message. If i place another pdf file in same location then it is going fine and i can able to get the output pdf file. Please suggest me how can i check and correct that pdf file and is there any solution to this. Please help me i have thousands of indesign pages with the same issue. If you want pdf i can send it to your mail id. please i need fix for this problem.
    Thanks
    Kiran

For all of you lurkers, Kiran sent me a copy of the PDF, and it looks like I found the problem (and learned a new technique which may help others in the same boat).
I tried re-frying the file by creating an eps and distilling, but the result was the same, then I tried exporting from CS3, just for fun, and it worked, but I realized the PDF had been cropped, so I started trying differnt sections and isolated an area that failed, though that wasn't particularly helpful.
Acrobat preflight didn't find anything that looked odd or problematic, and then I decided to run Examine Document. It came up with MetaData (no surprise) and also two items under a heading of Deleted and Cropped objects, with no preview or description. I unselected the MetaData from the list of found stuff, them clicked the Remove button in the Examine Document panel, and resaved (and while you have the opportunity to give it a new name, doing so doesn't remove the stuff untill you do the whole procedure again and save with the same name). Placed the new version of the PDF in a new file and exported no problem.

  • InDesign CS6 crashes during PDF export

I have been attempting to export a magazine design to PDF using the dialogue in InDesign CS6 (for Mac). The PDF gets to around 90% in the background tasks panel and crashes every time. I have removed preferences, reinstalled InDesign, upgraded to Suitcase Fusion 4 and am still having problems. I have even tried printing as a .ps file and it crashes during that as well. A few weeks ago I had a similar problem but found that I was opening CS5 .indd files and not resaving them as CS6 .indd files before exporting. Once I resaved/renamed them in CS6 it appeared to fix the problem. Now I can't seem to fix this one. I have exported other files and it works fine. I even packaged the .idml file and a colleague of mine opened it up in CS5.5 and was able to export it. I thought it might have something to do with corrupt fonts but I disabled all fonts and still couldn't get it to export. Any help or advice would be much appreciated as I am on a deadline. • Indesign CC crashes while using spellcheck - what to do?

indesign CC crashes while using spellcheck - what to do?

    InDesign 2014.2 Release  |  10.2.0.69 Build
I recently upgraded to the latest version of InDesign via the Cloud app and two chronic issues have reappeared:
Text randomly disappears during editing on the page.
Launching the spellcheck function causes InDesign to crash.
Come on, Adobe — I (and many other users) dealt with these problems for months after we transitioned from CS6 to CC 2014. Eventually, you fixed the problems, but it took forever! Now they’re back with your latest “upgrade.”
    This is ridiculous!

  • Application Manager gives back error (EX11) while installing InDesign CS6 (error while extracting in

Hello, I need help regarding the Application Manager
Application Manager gives back the error (EX11) while installing InDesign CS6 (error while extracting in temporary folders).
I don´t have problems installing PS, Acrobat etc.
    Any idea?
    Thanks

I would have never figured that out myself. Thank you so much! On behalf on my dad a big thanks as well, because he is going to use Adobe InDesign CC (2014).
Here, a local, standard user account worked for me. However, the password of an Administrator account was required once.
Here, any username longer than 13 created that error code, for example I tried "AInDesignCC14" unsuccessfully. Usernames with 12 or less characters worked, for example "InDesignCC14" worked.
Just renaming an existing account did not work, because the personal folders did not change in name. Therefore, I was forced to create a new account.

Ned, thanks for pointing me towards chat sessions.
I am almost there now, thanks the chat advise.
This is was Adobe tells me: You have a volume license serial number. You need to login to www.licensing.adobe.com website and download the software and you can activate the software without any issue.
I did go there but came no further. Then Adobe said: I checked and see that your email address is not registered under the Licensing website. Please contact the administrator under whose email address the product was purchased to add you as a user and you will be able to login and download the product.
So it is now in the hands of our IT guy who purchased this serial license

That could be the problem. If you actually mean DWCS6 and not DWCC 2014.1.1 when you say "latest" (check out Help > About Dreamweaver for your actual version) it requires the older Java SE 6 to be installed on the Mac. See if reinstalling it helps...
    Java for OS X 2014-001
If you're using DWCC 2014 and updated your OS after having DW installed, you may need to reinstall to work out the kinks. Using the Cleaner Tool from Adobe to reinstall will give you a completely fresh installation...

  • Indesign CS6 crashes opening some documents

    Hi,
updated to Yosemite today and realise that Indesign CS6 crashes opening some documents.
Anyone has same issue with me? Two people from my team updated to Yosemite and have same issue.
Thinking of downgrade to Maverick but with no luck...
    Please help.
    Thank you.

I find InDesign CS6 is running incredibly slowly and erratically (constantly producing the spinning rainbow fruit gum of death) ever since I 'upgraded' to Yosemite. Has anyone at Apple remembered that the original users (loyal as we once were) all used Macs and now all use InDesign?? This upgrade has caused all kinds of problems with Font Explorer (forcing me to upgrade that), Illustrator wouldn't load without some Java plug in ... Can't wait to retire and have done with all this nonsense.

Indeed. To be more specific, typically program execution begins in a main() function, which calls some other function (say, to handle menu selections), which calls some other function (whatever menu function the user chose), which calls some other function, etc., etc., perhaps 30 or 40 functions deep.
Because of the way C++ calling conventions work, the history of which function called which other function is preserved in a data structure known as the stack. (The stack also does other things). Under normal circumstances, this "stack trace" is reconstructed to form the crash report.
There is one stack trace for each thread (parallel execution components of the program), but the thread that crashed is usually the only one of interest.
In this case, thread 0 crashed. Its stack trace is meaningless. It contains two stack frames (e.g. functions). At the top, the most recent function is called _XHNDL_trapback_instruction, which is a pseudo address that basically tells us nothing, other than there was some sort of fault.
But typically we will see what function called that top function; and the function that called that; etc., etc.
In your case we do not. Allegedly the crashing code was called from the address 4294967295, or in hexadecimal 0xffffffff. And that is the largest number that a 32-bit word can hold. It is, sadly, garbage.
So your stack trace tell us zilch
