InDesign CS6 doesn't load. It freezes on "Setting up Service Registry."

How can I fix this?

I solved the problem with following steps:
1. Setup another user account (must be administrative) - let say "test"
2. Login to the new account
3. Start inDesign (in my case it started)
4. Close inDesign
5. Logout
6. Login to your user account
7. Copy preference files from "Documents and Settings\test\Application Data\Adobe\InDesign" to "Documents and Settings\your account\Application Data\Adobe\InDesign"
8. Start inDesign

Indesign CS6 won't load on my right hand monitor

Joining the discussion... [running CS6 on Windows8; dual screen 23"; 1920 x 1080 (NVIDIA GeForce 9600GT card; DVI, HDMI)]
I have had the same problem. Each of the panels (pages, layers etc.) would not work with the mouse/pointer... if I clicked in a panel, I could tab/shift tab through each component in the panel, use the arrow keys to make changes, but the mouse/pointer was not active.
After extreme frustration... The following appears to solve the issue.
Solution: Open Indesign CS6, set up screen positions for the panels as required, save the workspace (Window/Workspace/New Workspace...).
Sorry... this appeared to worked... but I have dicovered that it only works for a short period then this problem seems to rear it ugly head again and all panels are intermitent in their responsiveness. Currently I have tried re-start... doesn't seem to change the problem, a shutdown and startup resets everything but the problem soon appears again. I'm searching for a solution... anyone?

  • InDesign CS6 won't load - asking for GRAPHICS.RPLN plug-in

I updated my InDesign CS6 and I am currently installing InDesign CC.
However, prior to updating, I received these 3 messages:
I thought updating would help the situation, but I am still receiving these three messages.
How can fix this problem or where would I be able to find these plug-ins?

    Uninstall and install again.

  • Dragging a single image from mac Preview to InDesign CS6 doesn't work but 2 or more images does?

I usually take anywhere form 2500 to 5000 photos in any single day's session. Because of this, I need an easy way to sort through them and grab just the one's I need to import to my InDesign "book". I have been using CS3 for years now, and what I always did was open up Preview on my Mac to browse all my days photos. Then when I found a good one, I would simply drag that single image over to my opened InDesign screen and just drop it into a page. I would then go back to Preview and continue this procedure until I had looked through all the days images. I could even drag multiple images over and once I was over InDesign I can just click each image and pop them into various pages with ease. Then I upgraded to CS6 and I've hit a kink in the works. When I drag over a single image to InDesign, before I drop it into the page my mouse pointer looks like 3 tiny paste images (the little rectangle with the folded down upper left corner). If I release my mouse to drop the image into InDesign, it just flys back to Preview and doesn't drop into InDesign. Now if I get 2 or more images from Preview, this process works just like it always did. But 1 single image... never. I've tried holding down command, shift, control, option, and combos of those buttons to see if anything changes and it never does. I always get the mouse icon with 3 little paste icons. In CS3 if I dragged a single image it would only show 1 paste icon and 3 icons if I dragged 2 or more, but not in CS6. Is there a setting I'm missing or a preference? I've tried looking through everything that I can find to no avail. There has to be a way??? Thanks!

    Use Bridge instead
    good luck

  • InDesign CS6 doesn't see links like previous versions did

    iMAC 27"
    Snow Leopard
    CS6 8.0.1
    850gigs of free space
    12 gigs of RAM
When using the relink button, I navigate to the window where the link I want is residing.
"Search for Missing Links in This Folder" is checked.
    "Show Import Options" is unchecked.
Previous versions highlighted my link as soon as arrived at the folder.
CS6 is blind, doesn't highlight the link.
    Any ideas?

I BELIEVE THE ISSUE IS WITH THE OS, NOT WITH INDESIGN.
I have one machine running snow and 5.5. It automatically highlights the file name of the missing link once you navigate to the folder.
My other machine is running lion and 5.5 and 6. In neither InDesign 5.5, nor InDesign 6, does the file name automatically highlight.
If this was a feature tied to ID 5.5, then it should continue to do so in Lion, which it does not.

  • InDesign CS6 Doesn't Recognize Plugins

For some reason InDesign needs to be continuously uninstalled and reinstalled on my Mac running 10.8. It will work for a day or two and then stop opening. When I try to launch it either just crashes or gives me an error that it doesn't recognize a long list of plugins. UI.InDesignPlugin to name one. Then says it needs to be reinstalled.
Is anyone else experiencing this? It's getting really frustrating because I've uninstalled and reinstalled InDesign more times than I can count.

I had a similar issue with acrobat, thats why I ask. Adobe had me go through and deactivate the licensing for creative cloud within Photoshop (if my memory serves correctly).  Then they had me reactivate the licensing. I can't remember the exact steps, but my suggestion is to go to adobe tech support (you can use their chat even), and have them walk you through reactivation of creative cloud. My guess is that your indesign never fully activated properly. What's led me to believe that is the thread concerning your library dispatch manager.
    Thread 1:: Dispatch queue: com.apple.libdispatch-manager
    0   libsystem_kernel.dylib              0x95e839ae kevent + 10
    1   libdispatch.dylib                   0x9191ccc5 _dispatch_mgr_invoke + 993
    2   libdispatch.dylib                   0x9191c7fd _dispatch_mgr_thread + 53
Call Adobe, tell them your indesign is crashing upon launching and they will walk you through the steps of deactivating and reactivating the licensing. Let us know how that goes and if that is indeed the issue. I know that was my issue when I had the same problem with Acrobat.
When your indesign crashes, does the red adobe dispatch manager pop up before it crashes? If so, then it is definitely the same issue I was having.

  • Print Booklet in Indesign cs6 doesn't line up correctly

Has anyone had luck with the "Print Booklet" tool to proof a multi-page catalog? I tried printing double sided on a Canon ir4035 and found that the front and rear sides didn't line up.
I'm thinking of buying a nice new 12 x 18 color laser, and I want to make sure that "print booklet" really works on double sided printers before spending the money.
    Thanks,
    John

I suspect the problem is not InDesign, but the printer. Printers in this class just don't have the same sort of tolerances that a printing press can achieve for sheet-to-sheet and front-to-back registration. It's not unusual to see as much as 1/8 in overal drift through a print run. If the misalignment is fairly uniform you could consider printing to PDF (windows) or postscript and distilling (mac), then place the PDF into a new file and shift every other page to compensate.

  • Photoshop CS6 doesn't load image

Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but
When opening an image in photoshop, the canvas is not visible.
As you can see the opened image is not visible, but when moving the image window around I can see the image.
Then when i release the image from the cursor and stop moving it around, it is no longer visible.
Also when maximizing the window, this happens:
I am then forced to close the window.
I'm running on windows 8 64-bit, and my gpu is a Nvidia Quadro K2000m, with a pretty capable laptop.
My GPU drivers seem to be up to date. I understand that this problem can be fixed if I select to not use my graphics processor, but I'd like to take advantage of my gpu.
Setting the drawing mode to basic has had no effect.
I'm also having similar problems with other programs like autodesk mudbox.
    Does anyone have any solutions?
    Thanks

Then you need to contact NVidia, because somehow you've got bits of an older driver that is not drawing correctly, and you need up to date drivers that draw correctly.

  • Fonts aren't being acknowledged in Indesign CS6 on a PC

I down loaded Helvetica Std Full Family Fonts that I purchased from Adobe onto my PC but Indesign CS6 doesn't acknowledge it.  Any suggestions?

Look for files called AdobeFnt*.lst (where the * is a two digit number) and trash those. There are probably hidden. These files will be regenerated the next time you restart any program.

  • InDesign CS6 from CS3 plug-in issue?

Our InDesign CS3 files have the SBIndexPro plug-in that was required to generate an accurate index in InDesign CS3, which InDesign CS6 doesn't recognize because it's a third-party plug-in (and CS6 doesn't have it or require it). So if we open CS3 files in CS6, we get an error message that the SBIndexPro plugin is missing and book functions (exporting book to PDF, packaging the book, updating page numbering, generating TOC, generating an index) are all disabled because of it.
The work-around we've found from forums online is to open the files in InDesign CS3, export each file to an INX (InDesign Interchange) file, open the files in CS6 and fix elements in the master pages (running headers shifted and have to be moved back into place), relink any missing images, save as a CS6 InDesign file.
Is there any simpler way we can get our files updated from InDesign CS3 to CS6 without this plug-in tripping us up? We can see how to disable the plug-in in InDesign CS3 but the files still say they're missing the plug-in when opened in InDesign CS6.
A prompt response and any help is appreciated!

You could open it in CS6 and export it to IDML but besides that, you've
covered the only two ways I know.

  • Why are images rendering so poorly in InDesign CS6?

My display performance is set to High Quality, but I'm still getting poor image quality when I import the screenshot.
This is actually unbelievable. All of my colleagues are having the same problem (which doesn't exist in earlier versions of InDesign). Is this a known problem?
My workspace is set to "Web". Exporting doesn't fix it. I'm viewing the document at "Actual Size" and still, the problem persists.
    Indesign CS6:
    Original:

I've tried every export setting - all output is sub-optimal.
This is an unknown problem. I've scoured the web for ages, and can't find anything on it. Plenty of other people have the issue, but no solutions.
Here is another post with the same problem:

After I put a small delay in as shown, your code ran fine, tested on about twenty ID files, using ID CC 2014, OSX 10.10.2

  • Indesign CS6 won't open after Photoshop CS6.

Indesign was working like a charm, then I had to install Photoshop which installed without error, since then whenever i launch indesign the splash screen comes up and gets as far as "setting up service registry" and then just disapears. It works with other users on the PC and I have tried creating a new profile for the user without any joy.

    Any help would be appreciated.

The program has been uninstalled and reinstalled and the problem is still there. I was considering running the Creative Suite Cleaner Tool, and reinstalling, However from the documentation it looks as though it is for installation issue? Would it be of any help or is there a better tool to use to remove all traces of indesign from the PC/Registry? so i can reinstall?
As This issue was caused by installing photoshop is there any mileage with uninstalling both then reinstalling them?
