InDesign CS6 ePub Export : Tables with header and footer in HTML

Hey there,
does anyone know, whether InDesign CS6 also exports Table Headers and footers correctly into the XHTML-File of the ePub.
What I mean, is whether the elements <thead> and <tfoot> are created?
Or is it only possible to steer this via the CSS-Classnames which can be given in the tableformats?
Generally I think it would be better if the user had the chance to map other exporttags to its elements than just p, em, strong, h1-h6.
it would be useful to also put in other elements by hand.
Best regrads.

By "also", do you mean the behavior is changed with respect to CS5/CS5.5? In those, thead and tfoot are created correctly. (Although, quite disconcerting, in the order "thead / tfoot / tbody". ePub renderers based on Webkit display them correctly nevertheless, but others do not. An extremely annoying free interpretation of the W3C rules.)

  • Indesign CS6 epub export bug

I am using Indesign CS6 to export a book to epub. Having problems with automatic numbers and bullets as well as spacing issues; however, I've made some adjustments and am getting a pretty decent epub. Here's the issue: When I convert my epub to Mobi using Calibre, I get double bullets and double numbers in my lists. I used this same process to create a Mobi file a few months ago in Indesign 5.5 with no problem. So I took one of my CS6 files, exported it to IDML, opened it in CS5.5 and exported to ePub. I then took that epub and converted it to Mobi using Calibre. No double bullets or numbers. So the issue is coming from Indesign CS6.
Anyone else had this issue. Any other ideas on how to get a clean Mobi file from CS6?

    Thanks a million.

You should get the 8.0.1 update for InDesign CS6. It fixes several EPUB bugs including the "space before" problem and the "epub-ruby" (which is I believed intended for Japanese language.

    Hello,
when you do yourEditorPane.getStyledDocument().dump(System.out), if you don't see and footer or header, you must write your own RTFEditorKit, but you must know how an RTF file is coded (but i don't know this coding...)

  • InDesign CS6 EPub export: Possible to avoid object styles?

After upgrading to CS6 I've been having issues with the new EPub export command. After expanding the EPUB file that was created I noticed all of the achored objects had been given their own, unique DIV classes in the default CSS file (ie the one now named after the INDD file) that included a bunch of formatting that I didn't want carried over from the print layout.
I gather this is being called a new 'feature', but there doesn't seem to be a way to disable it. I thought the whole point of being able to use your own CSS file was to make a clean break from the styles applied in the print layout? I tried deleting the entire default CSS file and recompressing the EPUB and this actually seems to work (although I'm not sure why it does, since I would have thought that the unique class names wouldn't match with any defined in my basic CSS file?), although I'd prefer to avoid having to break the files open in the first place.
    Or am I missing something?
    Thanks!

Ron Bilodeau who creates EPUB files for O'Reilly wrote a piece about EPUB from CS6 in the newest issue of InDesign Magazine. Perhaps what he says will be useful to you:
"In the Advanced tab of the EPUB Export Options dialog box there is now an option
to include multiple CSS stylesheets, in addition to the CSS that InDesign generates (Figure 3).
"Initially, I was annoyed by this change, because Adobe removed the option to ignore the InDesign-generated CSS and only use a custom external CSS. I write my own custom EPUB CSS and therefore wanted to use that instead of what InDesign generates. But it didn’t take me long to realize that this new solution is pretty elegant. By default, any custom stylesheet attributes will override matching elements from the InDesign-generated CSS. This means that you have ultimate control over what is displayed. If you’re happy with how some of the InDesign-generated CSS works in your EPUB file, then simply leave those elements alone and let them do their job. For other elements that you’re not happy with, you can simply override them with your custom CSS. If you prefer to not write your own EPUB CSS, simply export your EPUB file without choosing any additional CSS file(s) and let InDesign do all the work."

  • HEADER AND FOOTER IN HTML REGION

I want to create a repeatable HTML Header (not an ApEx region Header) for a HTML region as described in
    http://www.html4newbies.com/header_footer_tip.php
I want to include the header at different points in my HTML region
It says that you need to save the Header in an external file and then reference it using the line
    <!--#include file="header.html" -->
Can you do this in ApEx? I've uploaded the file with the header code into ApEx but how do I reference it? I've tried
    <!--#include file="#WORKSPACE_IMAGE#header.html" -->
    but it doesn't recognize it.
Or is there a better way to do it?
    regards

Can a shortcut be plugged in the middle of report output?
The problem I'm grappling with is the page setup for a report prior to printing.
If I use a template, the header will still appear only once if the report is large and pagination is turned off.
Is the only way to define a "page" in ApEx through Pagination?
If I have a report with no pagination set and the number of rows set to, say 10000 and I want to print off the report, how would I place a page header or footer every 66 lines (i.e. simulating portrait on A4)?
Am I using the wrong application for this?
    regards

  • How to print jTable with custom header and footer....

    Hello all,
I'm trying to print a jTable with custom header and footer. But
    jTable1.print(PrintMode,headerFormat,footerFormat,showPrintDialog,attr,interactive)
does not allow multi line header and footer. I read in a chat that we can make custom header and footer and wrap the printable with that of the jTable. How can we do that..
Here's the instruction on the chat...
Shannon Hickey: While the default Header and Footer support in the JTable printing won't do exactly what you're looking for, there is a straight-forward approach. You can turn off the default header/footer and then wrap JTable's printable inside another Printable. This wrapper printable would then render your custom data, and then adjust the size given to the wrapped printable
But how can i wrap the jTable's Printable with the custom header and footer.
    Thanks in advance,

I also once hoped for an easy way to modify a table's header and footer, but found no way.
    Yet it is possible.

  • Problem in Consistent Header and Footer with Sub Templates in BI publisher

    Hi All,
I have recently started working with OBI and used Sub templates for getting Consistent Header and Footer in all of our reports. I did this in the following way
    1. Created one template called HeaderFooter.rtf with Header and footer templates.
    2. placed the file in web server and called in the main Template with
<?import: http://myserver.com:9704/xmlpserver/HeaderFooter.rtf?> I mean as static URL and it is working fine.
    3. Now as a part of generalizing the server i have added HTTPSERVER property in xdo.cfg file which is located in
    %BI_REPOSITORY%/Admin/Configuration.
    4. I have checked this property by placing <?xdoxslt:getXDOProperties($_XDOCTX)? in my rtf file and HTTPSERVER property is showing same as that of static.
    5. Now when i place <?import:http://{$HTTPSERVER}/HeaderFooter.rtf?> in my rtf it is ending with an error.
so can anyone please help me out in this regard?

  • HST6.0 Header and footer in reports

    Hi,
We have an application generated from designer 1.3.2 using Headstart, and now we need to upgrade that one to designer 6.0, Everyting works ok with the forms but when we try to generate reports we don't get any header and footer. I have looked into the demo application in Headstart and found 2 reports with header and footer but I can't figure out how to generate this from Designer.
Thanks in advance for any help!

These fragments might fall under the category of "other", as an example, there is a copyright fragment in the Other tab of the fragment toolbox window. You could copy that and enhance it to make your footer.
