InDesign CS6 Export to PDF has missing objects

When exporting to PDF, I have a 6-page document that has missing objects from the master.
Here's the document with the content removed:
lab.cyke.net/pdf/MissingObjects.pdf
The first and last pages were constructed correctly. All pages in between are screwed up. Any ideas?

@Jongware – I have a case with InDesign CS5.5 7.5.3 on Mac OS X 10.6.8 where master pages based on each other lead to false representation of page objects.
Not only in pdf export, but also on the actual InDesign pages. Made an IDML from it, opened that in InDesign CS4 and the error was gone.
This problem is documented at the German-Swiss forum "HilfDirSelbst" at:
http://www.hilfdirselbst.ch/gforum/gforum.cgi?post=496285#496285
Some screen grabs together with the IDML are attached there.
After opening the IDML from InDesign CS4 with the error gone, I exported another IDML from CS4, opened that in InDesign CS5.5 7.5.3 and the error was present.
To detect the error look at pages 1* and 4 of the mentioned screen grabs.
Uwe
//EDIT: *the screen grab of the pages palette of InDesign CS5.5 shows the error on page 4 only. The error is present outside of page 1 as well, but cannot show on the screen grab.

  • Exported PDF is Blank (branched, formerly Re: InDesign CS6 Export to PDF has missing objects)

Just recently went from CS5.5 to CS6 and now when I export files in InDesign to pdf they open and are totally blank. What am I doing wrong?

    Jeanne,
I've brancehed this to a new discussion because I'm pretty sure your problem is differnt fromthe one inthe trhead where you posted originally.
What's your OS? Are the PDFs opening automatically at the end of export, or are you opening them manually?
Are your pages blank in ID if you switch to Preview mode?

  • Indesign CS6, export interactive pdf missing...

    Hi everybody,
Can anybody tell me the solutions, When i export my interactive document to pdf,
frist 3 pages go well, but after that all pages the text that contains links are missing.
Even i take mouse over to those links it shows the handover, but text appearing and links does not work.
I have tried in cs3 too, but same problem continues. (i am working on In Design CS6)
Can anyone tell me the solutions ?
    Thanks

Make sure you're choosing File > Export > Adobe PDF (Interactive) and NOT  Adobe PDF (Print).
Make sure you're previewing in Adobe Acrobat Pro or Adobe Reader and NOT other PDF readers (like Mac Preview).

  • InDesign CS6 - Exporting Issues, PDF being sent to Photshop and saving as a psd rather than the requested pdf? Please help!

    Hi
I have an issue in InDesign CS6. It has been happening the last couple of days now.
When i export to pdf. regardless of quality instead of being saved as a pdf it is being sent to Photoshop which then saves the file as a psd...
I have updated InDesign to the latest CS6 update which helped the issue yesterday but today the same problem is back. Help please what could be the problem and how do I fix it?
    Any advice is very appreciated.
    Thanks
    Sam

ExportPDF is a subscription service for exporting PDF files into Word and Excel, from Adobe Reader. I suspect you need the InDesign forum, as InDesign is the product here.

  • Indesign cs6, export interactive pdf

When i export my interactive document to pdf, the result is not working well. All the roll over buttons are blinking when the mouse cursor point on it. also i have problem with layers. the appearance of layers is not as same as file, so some images go under other.
I have no problem in preview and it works well in preview but when i export to pdf the result is catastrophic.
Is there anyone have a same problem? Or anyone know what i am doing wrong?

I am having the same problem. Here are my screenshots. In Acrbat 10, in the layers pane, the layers names show up correctly, but in the actual graphics of the PDF, the layers are displayed in the reverse order.

  • InDesign CS6 exports PDFs wrong.

When I try to export a file from InDesign CS6 as a PDF it always comes out looking like this:
I tried downloading a patch that was supposed to solve the issue, but my Adobe Updater won't work either. The progress bar loads all the way but then it just jumps back to asking if I want to install the new updates without ever actually installing anything.

That's totally useless. We don't know anything about your PDF settings, your version of Acrobat, your document, fonts used, paragraph styles, your system and so on. Ask in the ID forum and provide a lot more of those details.

  • JRC for Eclipse 2.0: Export to PDF with Flash Objects in RPT file

    Hi,
We've a few reports created with Flash objects in it ( from Xcelsius). We are trying to generate the reports and export it to PDF using the new JRC for Eclipse 2.0. The exported file size is big ( 600MB) but there is no flash object or data in it. Can you please help us with this one?
    Thanks,
    Bala

Hi, Ted. Thanks for looking into this.
I asked a similar question last September in this [thread|CR report with embedded SWF: Export to PDF displays nothing;. It's my understanding that exporting flash objects to pdf is not support in  CR 2008.
In CR 2008, when I export a report containing a swf to pdf, the flash file is not rendered in Adobe Reader. It looks like there's just a picture. In fact, in CR, if you r-click on the swf and do Format Flash... | Flash, you can change the picture used for export and printing. The default picture is what I'm seeing in the pdf.
I'm creating the swf using Xcelsius 2008. In XC 2008, if I export to pdf, the flash object is rendered. Why the difference?
The same Adobe reader is being used in both cases.
I'd be glad to send an .rpt with embeded swf for you to test.
    Thanks again.

  • InDesign CS6 crashes during PDF export

I have been attempting to export a magazine design to PDF using the dialogue in InDesign CS6 (for Mac). The PDF gets to around 90% in the background tasks panel and crashes every time. I have removed preferences, reinstalled InDesign, upgraded to Suitcase Fusion 4 and am still having problems. I have even tried printing as a .ps file and it crashes during that as well. A few weeks ago I had a similar problem but found that I was opening CS5 .indd files and not resaving them as CS6 .indd files before exporting. Once I resaved/renamed them in CS6 it appeared to fix the problem. Now I can't seem to fix this one. I have exported other files and it works fine. I even packaged the .idml file and a colleague of mine opened it up in CS5.5 and was able to export it. I thought it might have something to do with corrupt fonts but I disabled all fonts and still couldn't get it to export. Any help or advice would be much appreciated as I am on a deadline. • InDesign CS6 exporting to Adobe PDF (Interactive)

Created an interactive form in InDesign CS6, but when I export to a PDF file, using Adobe PDF (Interactive), the purple bar "Please fill out the following form…" is not visible in my PDF file.
PLEASE NOTE: My Adobe Acrobat Pro preferences do not have the check mark on under >Form >Always hide forms document message bar. The check mark is off.
I want the purple box to be visible in my interactive form, yet it is not. WHY????

Because this isn't really an InDesign question, I'd post this in this Acrobat Pro forum:
    http://forums.adobe.com/community/acrobat/forms
That's never worked that way for me.

  • InDesign CS6 issue on PDF export - only close active

    Hi,
I have a situation with my script (or something else). The line of the code where error occurs is this:
myApplication.ActiveDocument.Export("Adobe PDF", myPDFFileName, False, myApplication.PDFExportPresets.Item("[Smallest File Size]"))
Nothing special... everyday for about 300 times (or exports) - everything went ok, but 1-2 times I get an error on exporting. The actual place when InDesign stops is shown in screenshots:
    Few things to mention here:
    1. sometimes InDesign not responding after this
    2. sometimes it is alive but only Close is active, save, save as, save a copy are gray
    3. everything can be restored from recovery
    4. at that very point when exporting pdf, possible is that an inserted image from this indd file could be opened in photoshop somewhere else on the network
    5. everything is on the network, indd, links, images, incopy stories
My guess is that InDesign couldn't read or get the image at this moment from the network but then again, the guys are telling me that no error is logged on router, switch, network etc...
Any medicine? Maybe how to avoid this?
    Tnx. Regards,
    Marko

    Tnx Jarek.
    I'll give it a try.
One more thing to mention. Once when this happened, the links palette was empty beside many images on page and incopy stories ?!?!
Can you recall any kind of script that could be run from InDesign at the time when this happen again? Maybe anything that could alert some error or message?
    Regards,
    Marko

  • Any ideas on how to get Acrobat X Pro (ver. 10.1.12) to recognize/create form checkboxes after exporting an InDesign CS6 file to PDF?

I have tried everything I can think of to try to get it to work (which it did until recently when I had Acrobat reinstalled). OS is Windows 7.

Are you sure you're exporting interactive PDF?

  • ID CS6 export to PDF behavior

I have just upgraded form CS4 to CS6.
When exporting to PDF in ID CS4 I was presented with a progress bar whilst exporting. Also after exporting the finished PDF would open in Acrobat.
In ID CS6 neither of these things happen. I can see the advantage of still being able to use ID whilst the export is going on but I can't see indication anywhere of its progress. Am I missing something? Is there at least a setting somewhere that I can get the PDF to open in Acrobat so I can tell when ID has finished exporting?
I frequently work with files that take quite a few minutes to export to PDF and not knowing the state of their progress is quite awkward. More than once I have grabbed a PDF to email or file away that turns out to have been only partly exported because ID is still in the process of exporting.

@Peter – alright, after testing a bit and circumventing some problems finding the generic name of the panel, I wrote a script that would pop up the Background Task Panel in case one is doing an Export.
Could not test that with InDesign CC, but tested ok with InDesign CS5.5 and CS6 on OSX.
However I could not test on Windows and only with my German versions.
What I cannot do is controlling the position and size of the Panel.
You have to do that one time before installing the script and safe it as part of your workspace.
Here comes the code, that adds two event listeners to the app.
That means, if the script is started from the Scripts Panel it is working for the current session with InDesign. If you quit InDesign and restart InDesign the event listeners are gone. If you want to use the code permanently you have to install the script in the "startup scripts" folder under the "Scripts" folder.

    #targetengine "DuringExportShowBackgroundTask"
    app.addEventListener("beforeExport", showBackgroundTaskPanel);
    app.addEventListener("afterExport", hideBackgroundTaskPanel);
    function showBackgroundTaskPanel(myEventShow){
        app.panels.itemByName("$ID/kBGUIPanelName").visible = true;
    function hideBackgroundTaskPanel(myEventHide){
        app.panels.itemByName("$ID/kBGUIPanelName").visible = false
I think, the "BGUI" in "kBGUIPanelName" stands for "BackGroundUserInterface"…
Of course, the panel will pop up not only during PDF Export…

  • InDesign CS6 to Interactive PDF

I want to design an Newsletter in CS6 and export it as a interactive PDF. The end goal is to be able to email the Newsletter out, but allow the end user to be able to modify the text in each section so they can personalize it as necessary. Additionally, I want them to be able to add thier own logo to the newsletter. I know much of this can be done in Acrobat X but can it all be done in InDesign CS6?
Can anyone point me to some resources if it is possible.
    Thank you.
    Randy

I can tell you what they'll tell you in the Acrobat forum: PDF is considered a FINAL format. It's not intended (or constructed) to be work the way you would like.
allow the end user to be able to modify the text in each section so they can personalize it as necessary. Additionally, I want them to be able to add thier own logo to the newsletter.
The only thing that approaches what you want is creating form fields in InDesign that can be filled out when a user received the PDF document.
If each recipient had a full copy of PAID Acrobat application, they could make minor changes in text and pictures. To have the greatest capabilities, they would need to own the latest version, Acrobat XI, which has stronger editing features than earlier versions of Acrobat.

  • Indesign CS6 saves my PDF in Negative

Ive been having this issue for a few weeks now and Ive hunted online and found nothing.
I use Indesign CS6 to create ads. The Images in these ads are .psd saved as CMYK or Grey Scale.
I save them as PDF's, and in Preview randomly the PDF preview wont contain a certain logo and some of the images will be in reverse (Negatives) not sure why. But when I open these files in Adobe Acrobat Pro they look normal.
This is an issue because when I send the files they will see them in this preview state and not see the whole file.....
    Please Help

The answer is stop using Preview. It is a substandard PDF viewer for
anything other than plain vanilla PDFs.
Check out what you're exporting when you create the PDFs. It's called
Adobe PDF and while there are many good PDF readers out there, using
anything other than Acrobat or Reader is hit or miss.

  • Animation in Indesign CS6 export as a HTML for widget in iBA?

    Hi together,
For me it`s the first question. I would like to animate pictures in iBooks Author. So I know about the tool hype. But I would like to use Indesign CS6 to create Animation files. I create a simple animation in CS6, export as a swf-file. Now I receive example.swf and example.html. Create a new folder with Default.png, Info.plist and example.html. The .swf file is in a folder named SWF. Next I create the folder  a .wdgt. Import in iBooks I read the main html-file is missing.
Is my way possible: CS6 animation as a widget in iBooks Author? Or is it better to use other tools in the world of Apple like hype for example?
    Thanke and best regards
    Boris

I'm quoting another post by Gadgetgurl42 here on a similar question...
"iOS doesn't support swf as this is the exported verison of a Flash file. Putting the swf file into a widget won't change that fact.
As sb0117 mentions, your best bet is to look at HTML5 animation."
I wouldn't use Hype to create your assets as it's really quite limited in that respect, but create the assets in Photoshop and import into HYPE to create animation.
I'd also do a couple of test files to check how the resulting animations look, full-screen on the iPad.
Alternatively, if you're more familiar with Pages, etc, you could use Keynote as the learning curve might be easier.
