Indesign CS6 has started bombing out on launch.

Hi there,
Now, when I launch InDesign CS6, it crashes with this error detail from event viewer.

Need help ASAP....

That looks familiar, but that's not good news. That's one of the one's I don't have a solution for. John Hawkinson is our resident expert on these, and perhaps he'll join us.
In the meantime, do you have any third party plugins installed, or a font manager? Did ID ever launch for you?
Are you able to run Adobe Extension Manager? If so, try unchecking the PMWelcomeScreen plugin so it doesn't launch on startup and try starting ID again. I believe that plugin is associated with the ShuksanInit(IStartupScreen* (*)(), IPlugIn*) + 28162 line just before the protective shutdown.
I think we're seeing quite a few problems with 10.8 that may be related to a change in Apple code (just a gut feeling) that happened after CS6 was tested and released.

  • Adobe InDesign CS6 Has stopped working error message

    Hi,
I have Adobe InDesign CS6 on Windows 7 64 bits Enterprise Edition
When I open a document and try to export the document to pdf my indesign crash whith following message "Adobe inDesign CS6 has stopped working"
It happens on some docuemnts but now all documents.
    Please help.

Was that a typo and you meant NOT all documents?
Windows isn't quite as easy to diagnose crashes as Mac becuase it doen't providet he same crash reports, so we pretty much have to play Twenty Questions...
Let's start with some basic troubleshooting. Presuming this is isolated to just some files, start with this: Remove minor corruption by exporting
If that doesn't work, can you export half of the doc at a time?
Create a new user account onthe machine and log in using that. Are you able to export the document to PDF without a crash?

  • Apple TV has started blacking out

Apple TV has started blacking out completely for a few seconds, then coming back onsceen skipping content played during those seconds. More and more frequent until recently it will be several minutes before I can even get a screen to turn it off. At first, it seemed to be associated with play time, like it might be overheating or something. Clueless. I have done software updates and even a factory reset.

I am experiencing something similar. My blackout is very brief - about 1 full second - and audio playback continues through my AV receiver during this blackout. In other words, the Apple TV continues to stream whatever I am watching but the video signal is briefly lost. I've tested different HDMI-in ports on my TV as well as different HDMI-outs on my AV receiver, and I am almost positive it is the Apple TV that is failing.  I am unable to replicate the blackout via any other device (TiVo, bluray, etc.)  I am going to start regularly rebooting the Apple TV to see if that helps. Any other feedback is hugely appreciated. Thanks!

  • InDesign CS6 "has stopped working" on Windows 7.

    Adobe Community,
I just bought a new computer and am in the process of downloading my standard set of programs. I'm testing everything out and InDesign fails to stay open past the new project window. The error just reads the it has stopped working and then windows closes it. I got it to work once or twice as an administrator by right clicking on the launch icon and running it as such. But this doesn't always work. I ran into a similar issue with photoshop and resolved it by changing the cache location under the preferences menu. InDesign doesn't have this setting though so I'm out of luck. Anybody come across the same issue? Windows doesn't give me any more specific error information. I'm not sure what to do at the moment.
    Help?

So this is what the event viewer is showing me. Any thoughts? I looked into some other solutions from the suggested thread but had no success.

  • Indesign CC has started crashing on startup

    Hello,
InDesign CC has suddenly started crashing every time I try to start it up. I have tried turning off all fonts (in FontExplorer X), deleted the preferences, uninstalled and then reinstalled InDesign. Nothing works. Last week it worked, now it doesn't. Here is a link to the crash report: http://pastebin.com/3UZvUXum
I am using OSX 10.9.2, and I still have InDesign CS6 on the same computer and it works fine. I can't remember doing anything significant (or at all) since CC did work.
At first I get these two messages:
    Error
Unable to launch Adobe InDesign as you may not have sufficient permissions to access the preferences folders. Try deleting the preferences folders and then restart Adobe InDesign.
    Error
Adobe InDesign is shutting down. A serious error was detected. Please restart InDesign to recover work in any unsaved InDesign documents.
    Thankyou.

Umm, for some reason InDesign now works - without even setting up a new user etc as you suggested. One week it didn't, next day it did. I do not know why. The only thing I can think of was that I had to sign out of CC to use it on a third computer, and then back in when I restarted this computer.
Anyway, thanks for your time and input Peter, much appreciated.

  • Indesign CS6 just started crashing when exporting to pdf - help?

I just got Indesign CS6 a few weeks ago and I'm using it on a new macbook pro. I had exported to pdf a few times with no problem. Today, I tried the same thing and Indesign began quitting for no apparent reason. I already tried restarting my computer. Any suggestions?

Hmmm...maybe I should try that. InDesign causes Acrobat to crash about half the time when I export it out as an Interactive PDF. The only thing is, it has always happened on all my ID files and it happens sporadically. If it crashes, I just do it once or twice again and it works. That would be the only reason I wouldn't think this will be my issue.
I'll go through the process a few times and see what happens...thanks.

  • Indesign CS6 has stopped finding Fonts

Hi, I'm working on InDesign Cs6 and I'm having trouble with fonts. The program has suddenly stopped picking up fonts I have been using for years. For some reason, even though the fonts are all installed and I have used them all many times, Indesign is only picking up what looks like the first font in the family. For example, in the Galliard font family it is registering the Bold font but the Italic, Bold Italic and Roman fonts are all shown as "missing". It's happening with a whole long list of them and I have no idea why.
The computer hasn't changed, no files have been moved and the only changes I made to my font folder was adding a new version of Helvetica, which was done days ago and I never had any issues until now. And even that brand new Helvetica is registering as missing. The files with the fonts have not been edited in any way either.
I tried typing something in Galliard just to test whether it was an issue with the files I'm using but it is missing from my list of fonts. When I type Galliard into the font list it appears and has Roman listed as the style but the second I hit enter to apply the font it switches to bold again and roman disappears from the font style list.
    Any suggestions?

Recently suffered the exact same problem.  Solution was (for me) to delete and reinstall Indesign CS6.
Like you, I am a very long . . . like from the beginning . . .CS products and their earlier Adobe incarnations . . . way back when.
Like you, I was caught by surprise when trying to complete a pro bono nonprofit project, Indesign could not find the fonts beyond the first few lines of a paragraph.  Then, all the text was highlighted . . . pink.  Continuing to type . . . text and curser disappeared.
Tried "find font."  No joy.  Tried deleting Indesign "preferences."  Semi-joy.  Lasted only for a few paragraphs, then the problem came back.
Have you recently bought or upgraded to Nuance Omnipage Ultimate (Omnipage 19)?  That upgrade was the only addition to my Windows 8, 12mb, system before I started having project stopping problems.  Send at least one other similar complaint within the last week.
I opted to uninstall and reinstall Indesign . . . because I do weekly updates . . . with Windows 8 system backups with a system image.  The desired system image would not have included Omnipage Ultimate.

  • InDesign CS6 with Window 8 Won't Launch

Had been working fine, last launch was 3 days ago.  Today tried to open InDesign CS6 (Windows 8.1) and get the following InDesign.exe error box: "CAnot load InDesign.exe because it requires Paragraph Composer. Please install the Paragraph Composer plug-in and restart InDesign."  How do you do this, where do you get?

    Kevin831 wrote:
    Peter thanks for your help.
I set up a new user account and tried, but that didn't work either.
    Do I need to :
    1. uninstall InDesign only with Windows Unintsaller (not the entire suite?)
    2. download InDesign from Adobe's website
    3. put in our serial # and I should be good to go?
Or will I still need to reinstall my plugins through the Adobe manager?
    Thanks
I would certainly try just doing ID first. If that's not successful you can remove the whole suite, run the cleaner tool (CS Cleaner Tool for installation problems | CCM, CS6, CS5.5, CS5, CS4, CS3) then reinstall.

  • Indesign cs6 has stopped working and needs to close in windows 8

We have Adobe InDesign CS6 installed on 2 different computers and on both computers it frequently crashes saying "cs6 has stopped working" and closes the application. Restarting it ok for a while and then the same thing happens. We have uninstalled and reinstalled to no avail, no other Adobe products are installed.

Try trashing the prefs. See Replace Your Preferences

  • I see CS6 has the same out of memory errror as CS5

I have used CS5 in the past and after a short while I always got an 'Out of Ram' error. (laptop has 4 GIG)
I was hopeful CS6 woud be better but I just got the same error after only using it a short while...... shame still not fixed.
Hope its fixed in the final version

To be very clear, this issue is not a bug.  It is a limitation of a 32bit RAM address space and has been an issue for a very long time.
    Here's the technical explanation:
When you're using Photoshop on a 32bit OS you're limited to using a 32bit RAM address space.  The application has a limit of how much RAM it can use and that is set via the performance preferences.  As you use the application, we use parts of that address space but we cannot control where those parts start and stop.  Over time (and sometimes a very short time) the space becomes fragmented.  We have a number of plug-ins in the application that need blocks of contiguous RAM in order to work, and ACR is a prime example of that. Once your RAM address space becomes fragmented, ACR requests a large, contiguous block of RAM and if that block is not available, you will get an out of RAM message from the app.
This can be mitigated (somewhat) by lowering the amount of RAM allocated to Photoshop or moving to a 64bit OS with more RAM where fragmentation doesn't occur.
If you want a more technical explanation, do a search for 32bit RAM address space fragmentation on Google.

  • Adobe InDesign CS6 has stopped working

Activated Creative Cloud membership a few days ago. Installed Indesign first and it worked fine. Installed all the rest of the applications and now InDesign no longer works. It starts up and goes through all of the initialization and then right after the opening dialog box where you select a file is displayed it crashes. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Same problem. Deleted all the preferences files. No change.
Interestingly, I tried running as administrator and it works just fine so it seems to be some sort of permission issue somewhere. Are there any logfiles that would log a permission issue? If so, which one(s)?
Also, InDesign CS4 works just fine on the same machine. All the other CS6 apps also work. It's only InDesign.  InDesign is the main application I use so I'd really like to get it working properly. For now, I'm OK to run as administrator, though.

I downloaded Process Monitor from http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896645 and captured all the output. Below are all of the ACCESS DENIED entries. I don't know how to change access to registry keys. However, interestingly, if I change the access to the files to give "Everyone" full access, they revert back to the prior access after I try to startup InDesign again. When I run as Administrator then I don't get these errors.

  • InDesign CS6 has the same problem of older versions HWNDBasedPanelView UID:410841

    Hi all,
I have had the same problem with InDesign CS5.
When InDesign starts it opens two windows as shown in the screenshoot.
The only way I know to solve the problem is deleting the InDesign preferences.
But why I should have the same problem with a new version of InDesign
    Tks

My guess would be that whatever is corrupting the prefs is external to ID itself.

  • Indesign cs6 trial start problem

I downloaded all files for the trial cs6, but could not see how to get the program running. I found the indesignservercs6.exe in my program files/adobe but clicking it does nothing. How do I get this running?

Joe which operating system are you using exactly?  Is it 32-bit or 64-bit?

  • HT1688 My new iphone 5c has started blacking out then the apple appears and then it comes back on.  What is causing this?

Is anyone else having the same problem...  My iphone 5c will be working fine, then fade away and the apple will appear.  It takes a minute and then the phone is back up and working?  What is causing this to happen?

Phone is under warranty. Take it back to the store for exchange.
