InDesign CS6 interactive doc (pdf): how to force DATE to be entered?

In the past I have made a few interactive pdf's which was a chore and horrible to do because you had to do a lot of work in Acrobat. With CS6 things are a LOT better! Really great! I have ONE problem though...
With Acrobat I could FORCE a user to enter a date in a specific format (dd-mm-yyyy) and if you didn't do that, a popup would show up (not made by me but a default Acrobat popup). But with InDesign I can't get this done: I can only create frames in which you can type text and that's it...
Is it possible to somehow force a user to enter a date?

You can drag the Date month sample form elements into your indesign document. Modify the labels according to your design and then add one more list box for year type. Finally export to interactive PDF to see the result. Its kinda FORCING user since user will have to select from drop down and not type anything they want.

Make sure the Fill color proxy (solid square, upper left corner of the swatches panel) is selected and in front, then choose a swatch.

  • InDesign CS6 interactive pdf problem

Hi, I've created an interactive pdf using InDesign CS6; document contains text fields and radio buttons. When exported the radio buttons flicker when you hover over them or click to make a selelction. Does anyone know how to prevent this? Many thanks

I have a hunch it could be an Acrobat/Reader limitation.
Set up a part of the form without the radio buttons but just use circles. Export a PDF and open in Acrobat. Use Acrobat's Form Field Recognition to turn the circles into radio buttons (or use Acrobat's form feature to create radio buttons with the same value).
    I doubt it's InDesign that's the problem.

  • InDesign CS6 - Exporting Issues, PDF being sent to Photshop and saving as a psd rather than the requested pdf? Please help!

    Hi
I have an issue in InDesign CS6. It has been happening the last couple of days now.
When i export to pdf. regardless of quality instead of being saved as a pdf it is being sent to Photoshop which then saves the file as a psd...
I have updated InDesign to the latest CS6 update which helped the issue yesterday but today the same problem is back. Help please what could be the problem and how do I fix it?
    Any advice is very appreciated.
    Thanks
    Sam

ExportPDF is a subscription service for exporting PDF files into Word and Excel, from Adobe Reader. I suspect you need the InDesign forum, as InDesign is the product here.

  • Indesign CS6 - Interactive Buttons - Destination links changing when opened on another computer

    Hi,
I have encountered a bit of a problem with Indesign CS6.
I have a customer who has created an multi-chapter Indesign file which has interactive buttons within the each chapter in the book. These buttons are linking to each chapter. E.G., Buttons on the first page in chapter one, might link to the first page of Chapter three. This has been done by setting a destination, to the file and specifying the page number within the Interactive elements dialogue box. The client has created an interactive PDF out of this.
When I have opened the file on my side, all of the interactive destination elements have reverted to Page 1 of Chapter 1 in every single chapter (this is the first file in the book). Obviously, this means me relinking all of the locations again (there are over 2000 in the file that would need to be fixed).
Now, I am opening the file on a Windows PC in Windows 7 using CS6. However, the client has created the files on a Mac. Which could potentially be an issue maybe (I am testing this).
However, has anyone experienced this before, and is there a workaround?
    James

    Hi LoriAUC,
Thanks for this. Very much appreciated.
I have asked sagar-khanna from the other discussion is he knows more about the broken links etc.
    Thanks again.

  • InDesign CS6 crashes during PDF export

I have been attempting to export a magazine design to PDF using the dialogue in InDesign CS6 (for Mac). The PDF gets to around 90% in the background tasks panel and crashes every time. I have removed preferences, reinstalled InDesign, upgraded to Suitcase Fusion 4 and am still having problems. I have even tried printing as a .ps file and it crashes during that as well. A few weeks ago I had a similar problem but found that I was opening CS5 .indd files and not resaving them as CS6 .indd files before exporting. Once I resaved/renamed them in CS6 it appeared to fix the problem. Now I can't seem to fix this one. I have exported other files and it works fine. I even packaged the .idml file and a colleague of mine opened it up in CS5.5 and was able to export it. I thought it might have something to do with corrupt fonts but I disabled all fonts and still couldn't get it to export. Any help or advice would be much appreciated as I am on a deadline. • Indesign CS6 saves my PDF in Negative

Ive been having this issue for a few weeks now and Ive hunted online and found nothing.
I use Indesign CS6 to create ads. The Images in these ads are .psd saved as CMYK or Grey Scale.
I save them as PDF's, and in Preview randomly the PDF preview wont contain a certain logo and some of the images will be in reverse (Negatives) not sure why. But when I open these files in Adobe Acrobat Pro they look normal.
This is an issue because when I send the files they will see them in this preview state and not see the whole file.....
    Please Help

The answer is stop using Preview. It is a substandard PDF viewer for
anything other than plain vanilla PDFs.
Check out what you're exporting when you create the PDFs. It's called
Adobe PDF and while there are many good PDF readers out there, using
anything other than Acrobat or Reader is hit or miss.

  • InDesign CS6 - converting to pdf breaks url

I have a situation with InDesign CS6 where a document is created, a URL is attached to a word and saved.  then it is exported to a pdf, and the URL breaks - putting in characters in place of the correct characters and symbols.  Please advise of a solution for this.  Using Creative Cloud InDesign CS6 on a Windows 7 64 bit laptop.

ok I tried that, but it did not work. This is the URl prior to exporting it to pdf:
    http://events.constantcontact.com/register/event?oeidk=a07e847bitbbff3608b
this is the url after exporting it to pdf:
    http://events.constantcontact.com/register/event%3Foeidk%3Da07e847bitbbff3608b
if you notice - it takes the ? and converts it to %3F and the = it converts to %3D.
I export the file which converts it to pdf, and make sure the url option is selected.

  • Can I convert an InDesign CS6 interactive file to a PPP?

    Hi,
I'm designing a company presentation in InDesign CS6, with interactive features.
It will be exported to several formats, as Flash. However, ID doesn't include PPP.
Is there a way of exporting the document to a PPP?
If so, is the interactivity lost (ie. slides export as static)?
Would it be a workable (ie. editable) PPP?
Is anybody experienced with this issue?
    Thanks for your help!

    http://www.recosoft.com/products/id2office/
Not sure if the interactive stuff comes along for the ride - my initial thoughts are "no"
However, PPP animations are much easier to setup, in my opinion.

  • Indesign CS6 default CSS created - How to disable

I am facing an issue in Indesign CS6 where in when I export the book to epub, Indesign CS6 automatically creates its own CSS.
With this version of InDesign CS6, it adds our CSS document to InDesign's automatically created CSS, instead of replacing it. So there are two .css documents, both linked to all the XHTML documents. It does this even if the "CSS options" are not clicked. It just creates a much shorter default style sheet with rules for body, div, and all images.
Request someone to please provide a solution where I can off the automatic created CSS while exporting to ePUB.
    Regards
    Arvind

The solution is to upgrade to InDesign CC, where you can choose whether or not InDesign CSS is included.
Since CS6 will never be upgraded, that's really the only way, except to manually edit the CSS. There have been major advances in EPUB export since CS6 in the past two or three years in the Creative Cloud versions.

  • How to force the user to enter a value in the prompt

Is there a way to force the user to enter a value in the prompt before they run the report?
We have a customer specific dashbaord. The user has to enter a customer number in Dashbaord prompt on a first page of the dashboard. We store that value in a presentation variable. That presenatation variable value is being referenced in all the other pages of the dashabord. If the user does not enter a values in the first page and directly navigates to the other pages on the dashbaord, the reports on the other pages start to run for all the customers. Is there a way to force the customer to enter a value in the prompt before running any of the reports on the dashboard?
    Thanks!

by Answer prompts, do you mean Column prompt?
I can not use Column prompt in this senario as the user should not have to enter the same customer number over and over again when he navigates from one page to another on the same dashboards. If there is a way to default the column prompts then this would be an acceptable solution.
I have already defaulted the prompt to a value as suggested in hte blog, but the issues occurs when the user erases the defaulted value. Is there are way to set the default value within the report?
Can you please explaing mroe about option 3 regarding Java Script. Also please let me know what other options there are so that I can check whether they will fit my needs.
    Thank you very much!

  • Converting .pdf into InDesign CS6 editable doc.

I have a 103 page .pdf document that I need to edit the contents of (change fonts, type sizes, colors, insert revised logos, and place a few style elements). I have the latest version of acrobat pro. that enables you to edit text, but its not entirely efficient. I wanted to load it into ID so that I could create paragraph styles and effectively manipulate the contents of the .pdf. As far as I can tell the only way to do this is to purchase a third party plug in (such as pdf2id)-right? However, the agency who gave me the job, set up a file that looks as though they were able to accomplish my same goal of linking the pdf direclty into ID without the use of the plug-in.
    Any suggestions?

Given the extent of your changes, I think you're in a tough spot.
Even with PDF2ID, there will be a lot of rework to get the file back to where it started, but it may be an option if you can't get the source (InDesign?) file. In my experience with PDF2ID and a 15 page graphics/text document, I ended up with around 100 para styles, 50 character styles, many bulleted sentences missing, images chopped into multiple pieces etc. It took a day to fully clean up, but still better than starting from scratch.
Only other option I can think of is to use the pdf import script 'PlaceMultipagePDF.jsx' to make a 103 page InD document with the placed pdfs as a background, then overlay new content and put images behind transparent areas. Maybe combine this with some pdf edits in Acrobat to remove elements.

  • Any ideas on how to get Acrobat X Pro (ver. 10.1.12) to recognize/create form checkboxes after exporting an InDesign CS6 file to PDF?

I have tried everything I can think of to try to get it to work (which it did until recently when I had Acrobat reinstalled). OS is Windows 7.

Are you sure you're exporting interactive PDF?
