InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop crashing after recent file download

I recently downloaded what I thought was a font online. Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator now all fail to open. I will never foolishly download anything online again. Can anyone help me get Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator running again?
More info:
Mac OSX v10.5.8
CS2 (yes old, but it's been working fine until now)
I could not find any new fonts installed in HD > Library > Fonts or username > Library > Fonts
But whatever I downloaded did make some other changes to my computer. It:
- forced my Safari search engine to be Bing (I fixed)
- added an extension to Safari (I removed)
- added these files:
~/Library/Preferences/com.installmc.global.settings.plist (I removed)
~/Library/Preferences/com.installmc.settings.plist (I removed)
I tried "manually" relaunching InDesign by holding down Cmd + Ctrl + Opt + Shift while starting but was unsuccessful.
I know my system is old but it worked great until now. I am desperate to get CS running again.

Thanks for your response. In the preferences window I have this option;
"Global Auto-Activation Options"
and then to check or uncheck...
Auto-acticate fonts for the following applications - the only application listed is Textedit
So I've unchecked it where I can.
I am running CS 5 and can't find the specific plugins you have noted, but have found the following pertaining to Extensis;
Illustrator/Plug-Ins/Extensions/ExtensisFontManagementAICS5.aip
Indesign/Plug-ins/Font Activation/ExtensisFontManagementIDCS5.InDesignPlugin
Photoshop/Plug-Ins/Automate/ExtensisFontManagementPSCS5.plugin
Are these the ones I should delete?

When I try to do a CC update I get an U44M1I210 error message, "Update failed - Unable to extract the downloaded files. Press retry to download again. (U44M1I210)" - help please - re-downloading makes no difference, applies to latest Indesign, Illustrator and Photoshop CC, others seemed to update without problems. I can see the disk image files in AAMUpdater folder but they will not open and come up with "couldn't be opened - resource busy" message.

Yes Jeff, I did all those several times to no avail.
I've included a small error snippet from two installs here. In Creative Cloud when updating the Apps, all 3 get to 50%, then the failure occurs. Retrying starts at 50% and fails the same way each time.
This first one is a segment from the Indesign updater - I have always had the all hard drive folders with read and write privileges allowed and I checked again, this is still the case so I do not know why this particular error message is arising. The second snippet if from the Illustrator update.

Indesign, Illustrator and Photoshop Freezing. Arrgggggghhhh!

Hi All,
I've recently installed Fusion 3 and now I'm having a diabolical problem with my Creative Suite. Indesign, Illustrator and Photoshop (though less often the latter) freeze - not just after a sleep etc, but up to every 5 or 10 minutes. I am going absolutely CRAZY and am becoming extremely frustrated. I googled the issue and have read in many forums that Extensis and the latest Fusion 3 update is the source of the problem. At this stage I am forcing quit and reopening documents consistently. The interruption to my work, schedule and deadlines is creating intense stress. I installed Fusion 3 last week but it's only since yesterday that the freezing has become apparent and immediately unbearable.
Does anyone have any advice? I can't go on like this. If I dump Fusion 3 and unistall it, will my problems go away? Sure, I won't be able to manage my fonts very well, but considering the alternative I couldn't care less. Can anyone recommend an alternative font management program that doesn't send Adobe programs into a full meltdown?
Here are my stats;
iMac running Version 10.6.8
Processor 2.8 GHz Intel Core i5
Memory 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Adobe Creative Suite 5
Please please - any advice greatly appreciated.

and then to check or uncheck...
Auto-acticate fonts for the following applications - the only application listed is Textedit
So I've unchecked it where I can.
I am running CS 5 and can't find the specific plugins you have noted, but have found the following pertaining to Extensis;
Illustrator/Plug-Ins/Extensions/ExtensisFontManagementAICS5.aip
Indesign/Plug-ins/Font Activation/ExtensisFontManagementIDCS5.InDesignPlugin
Photoshop/Plug-Ins/Automate/ExtensisFontManagementPSCS5.plugin
Are these the ones I should delete?

Hi can anyone please send me or give me a link for a interactive simple and short video explaining the difference b/w Indesign, Illustrator and Photoshop?
I need to give a presentation to some beginners and thought a video would be good to keep the audience engaged and have the three things explained. I need to give the presentation in 2 days so quick solutions will be great.

Illustrator and photoshop crashes on startup with MacPro (OS 10.7.5)

Hello all. I just installed Illustrator and Photoshop CC on 2 Macs. Both run perfectly on Macbook Pro (OS 10.10.1). However on Mac Pro (OS 10.7.1) every time I try to launch Illustrator or Photoshop both apps crashes the computer. I've reinstalled OS and didn't installed any other apps but the problem persists. Can any body help me? I need it to work. Tks

Merge InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop together?

Wouldn’t it be great to have everything you need in one app?
Actually, there are currently some applications like this.
Take a look at DAWs. They deal with recorded audio (similar to bitmap) and MIDI (like vector) at the same time.
And if you are looking for a visual stuff you can check SideFX Houdini. They have several contexts for dealing with the data: 3d models (sops), various input data (chops), compositing context (you can do image color correction, layering etc.), shader context, programming, rendering contexts etc. And you can have each of them any place you want. This + the fully procedural approach makes Houdini one of its kind application that gives you endless possibilities to build complex effects, models and animations. You can even build your own tools, like city generating assets (as seen in Inception or 2012 movies). You can even write music and manipulate robots in this app (if you want to).
So it is totally possible to fuse those apps together. Certainly it is a huge amount of work. But think of it: you now have to install Phantasm to apply Curves or Hue/Saturation in Illustrator, you have inner shadow in InDesign and Photoshop but not in Illustrator, you have good Paragraph and Character styles in InDesign but half-assed in PS and Illustrator, also grids, object styles, link management and so on. Wouldn’t it be great to have everything at once? Like in Houdini? You choose image and you can do what can be done with raster, you choose text and context changes to show what can be done with text. I’ve been dreaming about it for years.

On Mac OS X and Windows, it's possible to easily switch from one OPEN/ACTIVE/RUNNING application to another, with a simple keystroke shortcut.
So, in a sense, the tools are in one's toolbelt, ready for use, now. Or, from another view, the tools are in the equivalent of a Swiss Army Knife (SAK,) but not quite. Actually, it's usually awkward to switch from one SAK tool to another - depending on where they're located on the SAK body, some combinations of tools can be open at the same time. For example, the corkscrew, awl, or Phillips screwdriver can be open on the back, while a file, scissor, or eating utensil can be open on one or the other end of the front. The user can orient the SAK one way or another to use an open tool. A few tools can be removed, like the tweezer and toothpick, so there's a tad more flexibility.
The multiple Creative Suite applications can be open at the same time. However, if the computer lacks sufficient resources, there's an awkward delay in switching from one application to another, while resources scramble to meet the users' requests.
Perhaps the understood but unstated wish is that the tools were more-efficiently integrated, so that switching from one set of functions to another within an integrated application, would demand less from the resources, compared to the current model of switching from one standalone application to another.
It's a fascinating wish. However, wish with care. Some SAKs used to have lifetime warranties. "If it breaks, we'll replace it." The problem is that when the broken item is returned, the user is without all the tools during the replacement. In the integrated-application model, the analog is when a bug hits, fixing it will require testing the complement of integrated applications to verify that the fix didn't break something somewhere else. Hence, users may be stuck with the buggy version longer, before a fix can be developed, tested, and certified.
As hardware continues becoming ever-more powerful, eventually, pauses due to switching among independent applications will be less and less annoying.

Can I replace Pantone color books in InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop?

These new Pantone + books are a pain in ...well... you understand. In my years as a designer, I have just clicked on the correct book and color swatch, but now...
I am using Windows 7 and the CS6 suite of products. We have a company logo in which both main colors have dramatically changed with the new books. I won't go into all of the tricks we've tried to be able to place it in new documents without the color changing. I now think the only answer is to replace the color books as Adobe recommends. I do have two questions, though.
First, can I change the books in all of my products? Adobe only gives instructions for Illustrator and InDesign, but I regularly have to change vendor logos into our company colors in photoshop, and I am finding the color in Photoshop isn't the same when I bring that logo into Illustrator, even though they have the same number.
Second, what are the end results if I do change the books when I send a document to a printer? We usually do our printing in-house, so I am wondering when we buy PMS 2955 if it will be what I see in the old books or the new books. And what will an out-of-house printer be using?
My main two concerns are (1) seeing the correct color on screen and (2) printing the correct color. I don't really care how I get there, but I'd like it to be a permanent fix so I don't have to go in and manipulate swatches every time I add a logo to an item.

Adobe Indesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop wont update

I'm trying to use the Folio Builder in InDesign CS6 but when I access the panel it says updates are required. I went to Help>Updates and it says : "The update server is not responding. The server might be offline temporarily, or the Internet or firewall settings may be incorrect." It's been doing this with all my Adobe programs for about a month. I've downloaded the 4 updates off the Adobe site manually for InDesign CS6 and still nothing has changed. I don't know what to change in the Internet/firewall settings or why I even have to. Also I did not download the actual programs off the Adobe site, I purchased a box set at a local store.

InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop 5.5 become unresponsive

Hi,
I hope someone can help with this. All my Creative Suite 5.5 Apps become unresponsive after they are idle for 10-15 minutes or so. I have to force quit every time. It is a major pain -- I can't really find anything on any of the boards about this.
I am running Snow Leopard on a MacMini 2 GHz Core 2 duo with 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3.
I am using the latest version of Suitcase Fusion.
Any ideas?

ILLUSTRATOR AND PHOTOSHOP CRASHES

I'm using mac osX 10.6.2. Illustrator CS3 continues to crash. Sometimes before opening. Every time I want to print. Are there any fixes?

If you contact Adobe the official answer is likely to be that that CS4 will solve all your problems. Illustrator was never totally stable on my computers, even on Leopard, but Snow Leopard made it no worse that I could tell. Photoshop, which I use much more frequently and extensively, works fine under SL but to get that I had to use Adobe's uninstallers, reinstall CS3, and then very carefully reinstall my plug-ins. It may be that your instability lies with your plug-ins. Fonts have been another area of trouble for many Snow Leopard users so run Font Book and check for duplicates and verify your fonts.

Shortcuts break in indesign, illustrator, and photoshop (XP)

This is a really strange problem. I have no idea what it could possibly be.
This happens in Indesign, photoshop, and illustrator. It might (and probably does) happen in other programs too, but I haven't tried it.
Whenever I alt+shift+drag to duplicate an object, all my shortcuts break. My keyboard gets all jumpled. "b" might be replaced with "m." My "a" might be replaced with a "q." If I hit ctrl+z to undo, it asks if I want to save before closing. Everything's all screwed up and the only way to fix it is by restarting the software. This doesn't happen if I alt+drag. ONLY if I hold shift down while I do it. This doesn't happen during any other key comman (that I know of) involving "shift." Only along with alt.
I have tried deleting my preferences. I have tried reinstalling the software. I am baffled and frustrated.
Does anyone have any ideas?

You guys should thank your lucky stars. Whenever my sysadmin applies a new group policy (which he does irregularly, between one and ten times a month), this setting gets reset to default. It's almost-but-not-quite-often-enough to make a habit of changing it every day. (And my default language becomes Albanian.)

My InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop will not launch - error number 213:19

Can someone please help me?
After attempting Launch all three applications I was sent error 123:19 and asked to restart my computer however it has still come up.
What does this mean and how do I fix it

I think this is a permissions issue. Are you using an account with Adminsitrator or restricted permissions?
Are the the applications fully patched? That's helps some users with this error. If you can launch any of the CS5.5 programs you should be ale to launch the Adobe Updater from the Help menu, otherwise try downloading the latest patches manually for each application from the Adobe.com website.
Finally, see http://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/kb/licensing-problem.html This particular article is for Photoshop Elements, but it appears to be generic in application.
If all else fails, uninstall, run the clean tool (CS Cleaner Tool for installation problems | CCM, CS6, CS5.5, CS5, CS4, CS3) and reinstall.

What Content Management Systems integrate with CS - InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop apps

I have been looking for CMS that plays well with InDesign. Anybody have any suggestions? Most of the CMS programs I have looked at focus on how well they work with Frame. Not maligning Frame, but issue is with InDesign.

Photoshop Crashing after OSX Software Update!

Help! I'm a graphic designer who uses Photoshop everyday, all day and Photoshop crashes whenever saving files. It started happening right after I updated to 10.4.6. Any help at all would be appreciated...

There appears to be some issue with Appleshare clients and Photoshop. If you are using Appleshare (afp connectivity), save your files locally to the hard disk and then use the Finder to transfer your files over. If that is not the issue, you may need to reinstall Photoshop, or dump the Photoshop preference files.
Did you backup your data prior to installing the update? If not, even a backup now would help, as further troubleshooting may require risky procedures.
