InDesign infinite loop when exporting INDD as IDML - one specific document
Hi,
I have several thousand INDD files that are generated using CS4. We are migrating to CC server so need to be able to run scripts against these files. One of the scripts performs some (simple) manipulations and then saves as IDML...
Except...
With a percentage of our files (I've found two out of less than a hundred files that I've tested) the export to IDML task never completes. InDesign server simply hangs, permenantly. The only way to get our server back is to manually terminate the process using Task Manager and then restart. I have looked at the INDD files using InDesign client and can see nothing whatsoever the matter with them. However, even in client, even after deleting _ALL_ content, when I try to save as IDML, I get the export process hanging (see screenshot below).
So, I guess I have two questions;
1. How can I modify InDesign server to detect and recover from this form of infinite loop?
2. Does anybody have any idea what could be causing the infinite loop? (And how to resolve it?)

You should try a divide and conquer for the InDesign file.
That is split it in two and then try export to IDML
Whichever sides hangs is where the problem lies. You can keep halving this document until you find the problematic page/pages.

InDesign CC crashing when exporting file to idml
I am working on a large document (600+ pages). Whenever I export to idml InDesign crashes. It always crashes when the progress bar is at about 24%. I am able to export to PDF with no issues and also save as a new indd file with no issues.
I am using InDesign CC. I tried using InDesign CS5 and the same thing would happen.See if yu can break the file into pieces and export. See Adobe Community: File Crashing on Output - printing/PDF/other

more specifically you can use jcurses.system.InputChar class to do what you want ...
another way to do it is my making your console(terminal) communicate with your program for every character that you press.

Infinite loop when trying to purchase a subscription in the sandbox environment
We have set up a newsstand app with subscription functionality. We are testing the subscription functionality by using test users that have been set up in itunesconnect. When testing, we find that we get into an infinite loop when trying to subscribe to a magazine. After getting the pop-up to validate payment information, we are directed to the app store with a grey box, that looks like it should contain purchase information, but the page keeps reloading and we never get the option to enter this info. Finally a message appears that says the this is a test environment. I have included some screenshots below. Any thoughts?
I was able to unzip the file "Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design & Web Premium MAC.zip" using stuffit expander, free from www.stuffit.com. I am not sure why the expander native in Mac OSX v 10.9 ("Archive Utility.app") wasn't able to do this (I tried repeatedly for 2 days). But stuffit expander worked fine and now the software is running...

Adobe Indesign keeps crashing when exporting to PDF (for certification)
Hi,
We've been having more and more of these crashes of Indesign, always happens when we want to export a indesign file to a PDF. Most of the times a simple restart will fix it for a while, but the error always returns.
Can someone give me a few hints where I should start looking?

InDesign cs6 crashes when exporting objects with drop shadows to interactive PDF
I am using the trial version of InDesign CS6 on a mac OSX 10.7.4 I need to export my document as an interactive PDF. I have found that the export works fine so long as none of the objects within my document have a drop shadow. However, if I add a drop shadow to any object (text, images, or video) InDesign will crash when I try to export. I am adding the drop shadow by selecting the object and then choosing Object > Effects > Drop Shadow. Is there another method I should be using to add the shadow if I want to export to an Interactive PDF?
Hi Peter, thanks for the response. Yes, I have tried creating a new blank project and adding one text object with a drop shadow and then exporting to Interactive PDF, and I experienced the same result. I tried replacing my preferences as you suggested and found that it did not have any affect.
I continued developing my InDesign document without using any drop shadows and began to experience the same type of crashing under two more circumstances. 1. When relinking assets in my Links panel. 2. When exporting to interactive PDF with interactive objects that are being clipped (I get a warning telling me I have clipped objects before I export; when I click export I experience the same crash.) I have tried exporting the same file to a print (non-interactive) PDF and experienced no crashing.
I thought I should mention that I am using a retina display mac book pro with 16GB RAM. Could my graphics cards or the configureation of my machine be causing my issue?

How to exit infinite loop when using gotopage( )
I have 10 Pages in one script. At page 9, I want to call page 2 , page 3 and page4
The method is : RSWApp.GotoPage (2)
At page 9 it will run infinite loop page2-page4, How can I stop this loop at Page4

For example:
I have 5 pages:
Page 1
Page 2
Page 3
Page 4
Page 5
In Page 1, I have an VBA that look like this:
if something then GoToPage 2
if otherthing then GoToPage 4.
But I only want when the page get to Page 3, then this iteration is finished and don't want to keep going to Page 4 and Page 5.
How do I stop it or restart another iteration, start all over from Page 1?
I have tried "RSWApp.StopIteration", look up some end, exit, etc, doesn't seems work.

Make adobe flash player the preferred player when exporting indd to pdf
Hi, I am making a pdf using indesign. After I export to pdf, the movie files in the pdf play automatically on quicktime (when I click on them). I need them to automatically play on adobe flash player instead. I understand I can change the rendition settings for each object in the pdf, and make adobe flash player the preferred player, but there are a hundred videos in my pdf (avi files), it would take a long time to make those changes individually; it would be much easier if when i exported from indesign, they were already set as default to open in flash player instead of quicktime within the pdf. Any ideas appreciated.

InDesign CS5 crashing when exporting to PDF - large image?
Hi can anyone help?
I'm working with some rather large files in InDesign - it's a layout for a vinyl banner. It contains one image, created at 1/2 size @ 600dpi - 1500 mm x 850 mm. The file size generating is 1.25GB. I can't save in any format other than tif, psb, raw. I've gone with tif.
So, I've placed the image above into my document and need to send to the printers to do a resolution test. Unfortunately, when exporting to a high quality PDF, it hangs and InDesign crashes.
I know the image is probably the cause of the issue, but really not sure what I can do about that?

If anyone can offer any advice on a) how I can save the image as a print acceptable format that DOESN'T create a humongous file size OR b) whether there are any settings i can cgane in InDesign to handle this better?

Thanks for the reply - and yes, I thought the ppi was too high as well HOWEVER thats the specs advised by the production house. I've managed to get the file to export using a ppi of 500 - so it will print at 250ppi full size - which i think is ok, anything above that and my machine just doesn't want to play.
I will try and use the zip compression and see what they results in. Unfortunately, becuase of the size and ppi, I'm only given the 3 file format options to save in as above.
I've explained the situation to my production house and am awaiting their reply. These banners, although will possibly be seen up close, won't in no way be viewed at arms length.

Indesign CS5 Crashes When Exporting Layer to Incopy
I had a designer who emailed me last week stating she was having problems with Indesign CS5 crashing when she exported her text layer to Incopy. I thought it might just be her machine; however, I've experienced the same problem today five times. Is this a known issue? Has anyone else experienced this? I'm in Indesign CS5 (7.0.3).

Indesign CS4 stalls when exporting to PDF
Trying to export a file from InDesign CS4 to PDF. It's always worked fine before but one file just won't work. Program seems to stall or take so long I think it's crashed.
Is there a progress bar that tells you what the program is actually doing? I remember seeing it in earlier versions and this helped pinpoint problems.
If not, is there a troubleshooting procedure I can work through?
Thanks for any helpWell, dkd;alkje;olhp[oihjl, there isn't really a ready-set-go procedure for troubleshooting troublesome documents. If you are not even seeing the export-in-progress dialog with the progress bar, there is something seriously wrong with either your file or your InDesign.
Still, no need (yet) to resort to drastic steps. Try this: export the first half of your document. If that works, export the second half of your document. If that also works, you have a problem and two halves. The two halves can be taken care of by Acrobat, just glue one to another and you have one complete PDF, but the problem would still persist.
If one half of your document does export nicely and the other half does not, export the not-working part again in two halves. Repeat this until you only have one single page left that doesn't export -- and that's the trouble-causer. It might be an illustration, an image, a placed PDF or EPS (<- Hint: Trouble!), or even something like a single space in a font that InDesign does not particularly like -- at least you'll have a clue to where to scan for troublesome bits.
If all of the above leads to nothing, it might point to a messed-up file. Sometimes gunk and junk add up in the corners of ID files, and a Save As might clean it up for you. If not, take the more drastic step described in this:

InDesign CS5 freezes when exporting file as PDF
InDesign CS5 (7.0.4) run on iMac (OS 10.7.5).
I find that when exporting a document as PDF InDesign suddenly and randomly freezes at some point during the export process.
The only option is to force quit InDesign.
On relaunch InDesign has forgotten all the presets I had saved (eg Document Preset, Preflight Profile).
This happens fairly frequently but I cannot find a pattern to it or an obvious cause.

Infinite loop when trying to unzip Adobe CS6 downloaded from "Arvato"
The downloaded CS6 file "Download_Package.zip" does not open into a functional file (I tried this with Safari and with Chrome with the same results, all cookies enabled).
Here's what I did:
1. Buy Adobe CS6 "design and web premium" academic version from my university bookstore, they gave me an Adobe card with a number on it.
2. Go to the website indicated on the card, entered product code on the back of the card
3. Received email from [email protected] a few seconds later, with instructions, which includes the 36 digit "Redemption Code"
4. As instructed in the email message, went to http://www.adobe.com/go/getserial. This bounces me to the website https://redeem.licenses.adobe.com/getserial/#
5. Inserted Adobe ID and Password where requested.
6. Entered the redemption code, Made a note of the displayed serial number
7. Pressed the "Download" button.
8. The downloaded CS6 file "Download_Package.zip" showed up in my download folder. It automatically unziped itself to a file called "Download_Package.app" with an icon that reads "Arvato Bertelsmann"
9. Clicked on the "Arvato Bertelsmann" icon and it opened a window. Pressed the button "start" and it downloads a 4.53 GB file into a folder called "Package" that contains the archive file called "Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design & Web Premium MAC.zip".
10. When I double click on this file, it creates a new file called "Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design & Web Premium MAC.zip.cpgz"
11. Then when I double click on this file, it just archives itself into a new .zip file. This then becomes an infinite loop.I was able to unzip the file "Adobe Creative Suite 6 Design & Web Premium MAC.zip" using stuffit expander, free from www.stuffit.com. I am not sure why the expander native in Mac OSX v 10.9 ("Archive Utility.app") wasn't able to do this (I tried repeatedly for 2 days). But stuffit expander worked fine and now the software is running...

Applescript quit infinite looping when restart/logout/shutdown
recently I have a infinite looping applescript, and I save the is script as a "app", and running it on my macbook.
my problem was when every time I want to restart the OS, it keep saying my app can't be quit, and I have to force quit.
Anyway to write the script auto detect the shutdown/logout and restart, so there I can use the "quit" handle.
