InDesign installation stalls at 42%

Every time. I get this error message:
Activity Monitor shows Setup not responding, none of the processes with an Adobe CC icon appear to be not responding.
So far I've tried:
Hitting Retry and Cancel
Using Activity Monitor to quit ShellExtLoader
Quitting ShellExtLoader *prior* to starting the install - I got this error even though Activity Monitor showed that ShellExtLoader wasn't running at any time during the install attempt.
Restarting my Mac and trying all of the above
I've seen other unanswered threads with what sounds like the same issue - any help here?
Thanks,
Allen

Uiarchitects the ShellExtLoader appears to be a conflicting process.  I would recommend restarting your computer and trying the installation again.  You may also want to look in your Activity Monitor for any applications you are not familiar with that may be running.
You can find information on how to utilize the Activity Monitor at Install log error "Exit Code: 19" | Creative Suite 5, CS5.5 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/install-log-error-exit-code.h tml.
Ah yes, restarting and trying again was #4 in my original post.
Plus, I used Activity Monitor to kill ShellExtLoader *before* doing the install, and still got the error, even though it wasn't running. (Per #3 in my original post).
I use Activity Monitor fairly regularly, but there are of course a lot of daemons and processes running on a regular basis that even advanced users aren't familiar with because they are invisible processes that might be normal system activities, related to an app, or who knows what. In this case, the only stalled process was ShellExtLoader.
Sounds like we're thinking along the same lines, but those standard approaches haven't born fruit. I'm hoping that if others have run into different versions of this, maybe something about it will ring a bell with someone who's seen it before and deduced a fix.
Thanks!

  • InDesign installation that supports all languages

    Hi all,
I'm a Creative Cloud user and I would like to ask if there is any way of having InDesign installed in a version that is friendly to all world languages. I work primarily with European languages but I also sometimes need to work with translations into a range of world languages, for example Arabic, Japanese, Chinese, Thai and others.
I know that it's possible to get a special "regional" installation of InDesign throught CC (and then switch it back to English to get the English interface). I have already used the Middle East and CJK versions like this. But it's really annoying, especially if you need to work on a bunch of languages in the same time. So for example now I have the ME version installed, I need to work with Japanese, fonts are working well but I would like to have the Japanese paragraph composer and the Japanese language available in the paragraph options window to make sure that the text is flowing correctly. And of course, I dont want to uninstall my ME and install CJK because I will need the ME again in a few days. And I dont want to have heaps of indesign installs on my computer either.
So, my question is - is there any possibility to have support for ALL languages that indesign can work with in ONE installation?
If not - please take this a feature request. I am sure I'm not the only person in the world needing this.
    Thanks
    Jana

For a feature request you can submit it here: Adobe - Feature Request/Bug Report Form. You can try this. Create a new text frame, hold Ctrl (or Command in Mac) and Type>Fill with Placeholder Text. You'll be able to choose from different languages. With each option create a new paragraph style that you can call Japanese, Hebrew, Chinese, etc. and use it when need it. This would work at the paragraph level.

Are you on a managed network. If yes then kindly make sure that the following host/port combinations may need to be white-listed when logging in with an Adobe ID to download, install, and activate licensing for applications via a Creative Cloud membership.

  • JWSDP 1.6 Installations stalls for hours

    Hi,
As a newbie to web services, I wanted to try out web services. And so, I downloaded the Java Application Server ver 8.1 and JWSDP 1.6. Installation for the Application Server was smooth. However, this was not so for the JWSDP 1.6. After waiting for hours and hours (installation stalled at 98% stating 'Please wait while the technologies are integrated into the Web Container. This may take 5 minutes or more'), nothing happened. Why is this so? Is there anything else that must be installed before installing the JWSDP? So far I had been waiting for 7 hours and still nothing. So much for 5 minutes! Thanks in advance!

Hi I have seen the same behavior, did you ever find a work around?
    Thanks in advance,
    Ernie

Maryrhire910 I am sorry that you are facing difficulty downloading and installing Photoshop Elements 12.  Are you downloading the installation files from Download Photoshop Elements products | 13, 12, 11, 10?  If so what specific error are you receiving?

One board member has already suggested installing Itunes 7 on another computer and importing the installed files directly onto the 'problematic system.'
Unfortunantly, this doesn't work fo all. Therefore I am hoping that this thread becomes a 'ground central' for this problem. Has anyone tried anything else that works? Does anyone at Apple have any idea as to why the installation stalls at this point?
    Thanks,

  • Dreamweaver CS6 installation stalls at AdobeHelp

I am having Dreamweaver CS6 installation issues:
Tried installing via Creative Cloud 5 times--and installation kept stalling.
Tried Trial version 3 times--and installation stalls at AdobeHelp -- 24%. the "minutes remaining" keeps going up from 9 minutes to 43 minutes and beyond.
Have tried closing & re-opening Adobe Application Manager, re-downloading, using Creative Suite Cleaner Tool, rebooting, etc. & same issue keeps happening.
    Any advice?
On a PC with Vista 32 Home Premium

    SOLVED.
I discovered that in Program Files/Adobe there was an old Adobe Help folder from a previous Trial install, never activated. All the folder contents had a 2011 date--so that must have have stalled the new installation.

  • Wine/Winetools: IE6SP1 installation stalls

I searched but did not find an answer, but if this has been answered anyway, I apologize for this unnecessary post.
I'm trying to set up Wine version 20050628-1 from Arch's repositories using Winetools. When I get to IE6SP1, the installation stalls at about 44%. Wine doesn't freeze. I can press cancel button on the installation window, and it exits. The installation just doesn't proceed from 44-47%.
Winetools notifies that it hasn't been tested with that version. Does this happen because of the version incompatibilities, or because of something else? What am I doing wrong?

this has been reported in other forums (for other distro)
You might want to check this link
    http://sidenet.ddo.jp/winetips/config.html
the web master also provides a tool allowing ppl to install IE with wine, and from what I heard, it works fine with wine0725

This morning we resolved a problem that prevented Flash Player installations from completing for some of our Macintosh users.
If you encountered this problem, please delete any previously downloaded Flash Player installer and either:
1.)      Download the installer again from https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer

  • Creative Cloud Desktop application installer stalls at downloading

Hi When I download and run CC installer (CreativeCloudSetup.exe) on Win8 It stalls at about 8% and will not download the files needed.
To clarify I can download the CreativeCloudSetup.exe just fine, but when I run it it stalls when trying to download files.    Here is what it says after sitting at about 8% for a minute or 2.
I have tried to restart and re-download the file, as well as the suggestions as noted below:
I will download the new CC installer from the llink below.
    https://creative.adobe.com/products/creative-cloud
    If the first install attempt fails I'll rename the Adobe OOBE folder (out-of-box experience) to OOBE.old, then will try the install again. {Adobe OOBE folder locations for my system are below. Likely yours are the same.}
    C:\Users\[User Name]\AppData\Local\Adobe\OOBE
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\OOBE
    They didnt work.
