InDesign installation that supports all languages

Hi all,
I'm a Creative Cloud user and I would like to ask if there is any way of having InDesign installed in a version that is friendly to all world languages. I work primarily with European languages but I also sometimes need to work with translations into a range of world languages, for example Arabic, Japanese, Chinese, Thai and others.
I know that it's possible to get a special "regional" installation of InDesign throught CC (and then switch it back to English to get the English interface). I have already used the Middle East and CJK versions like this. But it's really annoying, especially if you need to work on a bunch of languages in the same time. So for example now I have the ME version installed, I need to work with Japanese, fonts are working well but I would like to have the Japanese paragraph composer and the Japanese language available in the paragraph options window to make sure that the text is flowing correctly. And of course, I dont want to uninstall my ME and install CJK because I will need the ME again in a few days. And I dont want to have heaps of indesign installs on my computer either.
So, my question is - is there any possibility to have support for ALL languages that indesign can work with in ONE installation?
If not - please take this a feature request. I am sure I'm not the only person in the world needing this.
Thanks
Jana

For a feature request you can submit it here: Adobe - Feature Request/Bug Report Form. You can try this. Create a new text frame, hold Ctrl (or Command in Mac) and Type>Fill with Placeholder Text. You'll be able to choose from different languages. With each option create a new paragraph style that you can call Japanese, Hebrew, Chinese, etc. and use it when need it. This would work at the paragraph level.

  • How do I install JRE that support all languages?

I've been searching java.sun.com site but couldn't find any download for JRE which support all languages. Does anyone know the link to this download?
I can only find one download for each JRE version. I wonder if internationalization is already included within this JRE? or is there another version of JRE that support all languages?
    Thanks.

It's a self-extracting shell script. Run it with the "/bin/sh" command (bourne shell). It unpacks to the current
    directory.
The following will install a J2SDK to /usr as "/usr/j2sdk1.4.2_02", assuming the downloaded .sh file is in /tmp:
    cd /usr

Hi, Could you please suggest a video player, that support all video formats?

This is probably as good as it gets:

You won't find anything that plays "all video formats", because of the restrictions built into the iOS.

    Hi,
The languages that are part of the handheld software are determined by the wireless service provider. Check out the link below for the latest software available from your wireless service provider.

  • InDesign plugin that supports table templates?

I'm looking for an application or plugin for Indesign that supports the creation of table templates, or something similar. The idea would be to allow different data to be applied to a pre-designed table template in order to create multiple similar tables for a given InDesign document. Does anything like this exist out there?

    1. What is the back-end server requirements to be able to render the finished PDFs?
You need either a Windows or Mac server and a licensed copy of Adobe InDesign Server ("IDS"). IDS takes SOAP requests that tell it what script to run, and scripting the server is generally the best approach unless you have some really special type of situation where a C++ plugin is needed. Certainly updating templates and generating PDF can be done with a script. You send a SOAP request to the server telling it what script to run and what template to load, and where to put the PDF. You can download a trial of IDS from Adobe.com.
    2. Does anyone have experience building the InDesign Plugins that can connect to a back-end rendering server?
Our company, Silicon Publishing, has a ton of experience connecting to InDesign Server, as we have been a solution provider and re-seller 8 years, producing large-scale solutions for Shutterfly, Royal Carribean, Nike and many others. We can render on the server via plugins, CS and/or CC extensions, and/or scripting. This is definitely our sort of project, and we can either consult/train or build a complete solution. • Does LiceCycle Designer support different languages

We would like to roll out a US based form to other non english speaking countries.
Is it possible to design a form in different languages ? if so, where can I find more information on it ?
    Thanks
    Aditya

    Aditya,
Yes it is possible to design a form in different language using LiveCycle Designer ES. The product is localized for many languages. You can also build forms that support many languages locales.
Go to LiveDocs and check the index for language locales.

how to set the datatype?First step is to understand that display and data are not the same thing.
Second step is to determine where the problem is - right now you have not done that. Do NOT attempt this step until you UNDERSTAND the first step.

  • Compiling a Carbon app w/library that supports Cocoa as well

We are linking to a library that supports video rendering in both Cocoa and Carbon/AGL environments. I can compile and link with a Cocoa application. That works fine. I just had to include the Carbon and AGL frameworks. No problem.
Where I am running into trouble is with our Carbon application. I have included the frameworks that are necessary for Cocoa to run (cocoa, foundataion, appkit, etc...). Here is where the trouble starts:
The compiler is, of course, confused by the objective-c directives. Okay, so I go into the build settings and add "-x\ objective-c++" to the cflags. I compile again and it no longer complains about objective-c++, the compilation finishes fine. Now the linker complains:
    "File not found: /Developer/....path...../Debug/...projectName.build..../Objects-normal/i386/mai n.o"
Sure enough there is no file, main.o, but there is a file, projName.LinkFileList.
Why (even though the compiler output says that main.o exists) isn't main.o sticking around? Is there anything obvious that I am doing wrong?
Excuse me if this is hazy. I'll clarify anything you ask.
NOTE: I cannot change this static lib to use only Carbon OR Cocoa. It (only) supports both and (I think) must be linked to both frameworks.
    Thanks for reading.

Why would the compiler be looking at Objective-C directives? It is one thing to link with a library that supports different languages. It is something else to #include headers from that other language. Do the Carbon headers have Cocoa in them? Are they not surrounded by macro guards?

  • Does ipad support all PDF formats?

There are 6 editions and roughly 11 different flavors of PDF formats that respective IPAD readers could potentially be using and I just wanted to make sure that IPAD is already supporting them all.  Does anyone know what flavor of PDF
    iAnnotate
    GoodReader
    is using?

I'm fairly confident that the iPad doesn't support them all. It supports the most common variants, certainly. Adobe is pretty much always in the process of constructing a new variant of PDF to keep the open-source crowd at bay.
It isn't quite accurate to talk of "iPad" PDF support either. The iPad supports only what iPad apps support. If they wanted to, Adobe could write their own iPad app that supported all PDF variants. The iPad may even have better PDF support than MacOS X. There is a GeoPDF app for the iPad, but not for MacOS X.
May I ask why you ask?

  • Which Language version of Indesign CC supports Thai language?

    Greetings,
I'm trying to troubleshoot floating vowel characters in our selected font (Sukhumvit) in Indesign CC, and can't find which version I should be using to be able to mark my text as thai language. I can of course download any version, but right now am in the English/arabic version.
The troubleshooting involves what can and can't be done in terms of tracking and kerning, and I'm helping to author guidelines for Thai usage for this font for global use.
I'm running a Mac Pro (not the cool new one, yet) Mavericks 10.9.1 and using the most recent update for Indesign
    Please help?
    Thanks
    Mo

I thought that Sukhumvit was a Mac system font, but I was of course completely wrong. Turns out it's an iOS system font, so I couldn't do any testing at all. I assume that you purchased the font directly from Cadson Demak, and I'd take my questions directly to them. It's probably a font build issue.
If I were using a font where I knew the foundry wouldn't listen to my concerns, I might write a fistful of GREP styles that would remove tracking from the floating vowels. Or I might use Peter Kahrel's kerning table script. It's brilliant.
But the most important bit is this: I would also write my style guide so that tracking wasn't indiscriminately applied to all writing systems. That strikes me as a no-brainer. Perhaps your default Latin-script font needs some brathing room at body text sizes in the language(s) you read, and the easiest way to get said breathing room in your workflow is to use tracking instead of a different font or careful kerning. but once again I'd rather use the kerning table script than just track everything willy-nilly.
That being said, It's likely that I'll have to recommend that no tracking or kerning be used with this language. Our creatives won't like that at all, as they like to be able to control every facet.
If your creatives can't read Thai then they should absolutely have that control taken away from them. I'm a localization wonk, not a "creative" so perhaps I'm judging a bit harshly, but if they want to "control every facet" then they'd best understand exactly how Thai is supposed to look - an understanding best achieved by literacy.

  • E4200 - installation is not all that easy.

The device has a great signal, that part is great.
    A couple of problems, though:
One must use a jump drive to "quick install" the software on other computers (meaning, to hook up the other computers to use a printer, etc.)
It tells me the device won't work with my Macbook Air because it will only work with OS 10.5 or later. My mac is 10.7. Something is not quite right with that.
I spent about an hour with customer support to try to get the problem resolved; unfortunately it did not resolve my problem.
It seems to be a quality product. But I would be wary about the ease of installation for the average person, if you are trying to connect other stuff such as a printer. And maybe if you want to use it with a late model Mac.

E4200 model from Linksys is one of the latest and greatest technology router that is available , however its really unfortunate to hear about the unit you have mentioned. It could be one of the defective units that caused all the problems.
Good news is that, Linksys has come up with the latest version of Cisco connect (Ver.1.4.11266.0) which is compatible with Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion) and helps you install E4200 in few minutes,
    Refer to this link :

  • Does InDesign CC support Asian languages?

We do multiple versions of documents for our International markets. We just upgraded to InDesign CC (2014), but our translation company told us they have CC (2014) but InDesign CC does not support Asian languages (in this case, CH-TRA), so they will provide us with CS6 files. Can anyone help me understand this? I have been using CH-TRA fonts in CC for a while.

I suspect that it's either "Our translation memory tool can't handle IDML generated by CC" or, more likely, "We use DTP talent that cannot afford CC because we pay them almost nothing."
I have sent my fair share of InDesign localization/DTP work abroad in CC formats and have gotten back files generated by a wide variety of non-CC versions. I recall one ten-language rush job in CC where I did five languages myself, and we sent the other five to an unnamed North African DTP house. They did good work, as usual - but files came back in CC, CS6, CS5.5, CS5, and CS4 file formats.

  • I am running InDesign CS5.5 and trying to open an In Design File but getting an error message. " Cannot open the file "PDavidLCover.indd". Adobe InDesign may not support the file format, a plug-in that supports the file format may be missing, or the file

I am running InDesign CS5.5 and trying to open an In Design File but getting an error message. " Cannot open the file "PDavidLCover.indd". Adobe InDesign may not support the file format, a plug-in that supports the file format may be missing, or the file me be open in another application."Please help I really need to get this file open.

Since you've shown us the folder contents it's a good bet it isn't in use (no lock file). And it doesn't look like the file is mis-named as there doesn't seem to be anything else there that would be the .indd file (but just in case, open it in TextEdit and paste the first few lines here so we can see what the file header says), so the most likely case is the file is damaged. Is that on a removable device of some sort?
You can try the tool at Repair corrupt InDesign Adobe files on Mac OS X  or send me a link to the file by private message and I'll try the recovery tool I have for Windows.
