Peter, since when is there an InDesign version for Linux?
That's where I was headed. There is no linux version of ID, but there are, apparently, windows-like front ends that can be used in Linux that are not actually a Windows virutual machine. I don't know how far the installer might get in such a situation before quitting becasue of the unsupported OS.
I don't expect a call to customer service would get a lot of help in this situation, either, but I suppose it's worth a shot. My suspicion would be that they would say something like although it should work, we don't officially support installations on virtual machines as the configurations can vary from the real thing.

    Hi
I've solved the problem ! It was not related to the port number but some sort of shared memory segment size that was not big enough. Thank you for your help.
Btw, I'm getting into another problem: the installer got stucked at stage 30
"Install Software Unit" and seems not being able to start 'process server0'.
I must admit I really don't know where to look for. Here is the Log Browser trace :

  • CS6 InDesign install errors

I have CS5 Illustrator and Photoshop installed, and now I'm trying to install CS6 InDesign.  I get an error message that the installer can't be initialized.  I've ran the Adobe Support Advisor that gave me that message.  I've done all the corrective meausures asked.  I've uninstalled Reader, Active X and other Adobe programs.  Flash and AIR are up to date.  I still can't get InDesign to install.

I tried that as well.  Since I haven't gotten past trying to just run the cd to install, there is no log for this.  I have the photoshop and illustrator logs, but those aren't the problem.  There are no errors shown on either, but there are a few warnings for photoshop. I've trouble shot all those and fixed what they said and I still can't get it to work.  Any other ideas?  Thanks so much.

    Hey Eran,
I guess, you can find the solution to your problem here:
It works well on Ubuntu, but since the error on Ubuntu looks exactly the same as on Centos, I think it should work for you as well.
    Cheers,

This looks like a follow up of Re: Error after installing Oracle Enterprise Linux (Release 5) on Dell T 110
Can you give more details what you are trying to do or trying to accomplish. Where are you trying to ping to?
It could be that you have not defined your gateway or DNS server for name to IP mapping. What is the output of
    # netstat -rn
    # cat /etc/resolv.conf

  • Error installing package on Linux using SDM.

    Hello Everyone...
I am having an issue getting a package installed on RHEL using the SDM. The package I'm trying to install is BP SAP CRM 5.0 SP01. The error I'm getting is as follows (shortened for space and info reasons):
DeploymentActionException: The substitution of deployment parameter variables failed. The following variables could not be substituted because theyare not known by the SDM-Repository:com.sap.cm.shareTo fix this problem go to the SDM-Repository-View of the SDM GUIand define substitution values for these variables or correct thetype information. Please note these are not typos or gramatical errors. This is verbatim from the error message.
If I take a look at Deployment Parameter Substitutions ==> Public substitution variables, I do not see a com.sap.cm.share defined anywhere, but I have never had to define anything while installing this under Windows in the past with identical settings in the SDM GUI.
Is this just a simple matter of defining the variable, or could this be a permissions/config issue with Linux? If it does need defining, if anyone has any ideas what the variables should be would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!

Just an FYI, the answer to this was found over at Re: Troublshooting While Deploying CRM 5.0 BP on Enterprise Portal 7.0 A word of warning, the parameter variable needs to be listed as Com.sap.cm.share (just as it is listed in the post). I had been trying it as com.sap.cm.share, and it would not work when I tried to save it. Also, for those new to Linux, you need to use the / character, not the \ character as shown on the forum post if you are installing it under Linux.

Try to install the ncurses4 RPM. This should fix your problem:

  • Oracle enterprise Linux and 10gR2 instalation error

I have installed Oracle Unbreakable Linux (from 4 CD's).
When tried to install Oracle 10gR2 I got error that displays when it's 83 % already installing:
Error in invoking target 'client_sharedlib' of makefile '/u01/app/oracle/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/network/lib/ins_net_client.mk
I have installed developement pack (aditional rpm packages installed), but I don't know what's happening.
I read on other forum (Error installing Oracle Client on Red Hat 4.0 that I might miss some package.
My system is fully 32 bit, so I think I do not need any 64 bit package, like suggested in that thread!?
    Second question:
I thought that "Unbreakable Linux from Oracle" has all additional packages prepared for Oracle installation ...at least for current release 10gR2?
    Is that true?
    Third one:
If I use croatian keyboard, I cannot type "_" (underscore sign. How to have that (for me very important key)?
    Thanks...

  • Application Manager gives back error (EX11) while installing InDesign CS6 (error while extracting in

Hello, I need help regarding the Application Manager
Application Manager gives back the error (EX11) while installing InDesign CS6 (error while extracting in temporary folders).
I don´t have problems installing PS, Acrobat etc.
    Any idea?
    Thanks

I would have never figured that out myself. Thank you so much! On behalf on my dad a big thanks as well, because he is going to use Adobe InDesign CC (2014).
Here, a local, standard user account worked for me. However, the password of an Administrator account was required once.
Here, any username longer than 13 created that error code, for example I tried "AInDesignCC14" unsuccessfully. Usernames with 12 or less characters worked, for example "InDesignCC14" worked.
Just renaming an existing account did not work, because the personal folders did not change in name. Therefore, I was forced to create a new account.
