InDesign interactive pdf hyperlink problem

Hi, I've set up an InDesign document to have Hyperlinks to other pages which is fine and separate pdf's where the problem lies. They're all in one folder, all a certain shortish length, not overly high in memory, numbering around 35 so far, will work fine for a while then want to connect to the internet with the Windows Internet Explorer warning box saying: Cannot find xxxx%5xxxx%20xxx%20... Make sure the path or Internet address is correct.
I'm working from the company server on a PC in InDesign CS6 CC, exporting as an interactive pdf including hyperlinks. Any ideas please?
Thank you, Emma

Thanks Sumit but the Hyperlink list does not have %20 in, only when you hover over or get warning.

  • InDesign interactive pdf viewable?

I'm creating InDesign interactive pdfs with embedded multi-state objects, vide, and Flash games... Needless to say I'm creating these on a Mac and they preview correctly, my question is how current do various users have to be on their Flash plugins in either Flash player or their browser? And, if they're bowser is up to date with the latest Flash plugin do they need to have Flash player at all?
    Thanks...

...This is a newsletter, distributed by email. NOT mobile browsers, phones etc.
Most of the interactive features in InDesign are viewable in an interactive pdf. My real question what's the difference between viewing this in acrobat reader as versus using the web plugin for the browser? Is the Flash plugin you download the same as the one that runs in the browser? So if a users browser pluing was updated with the latest version of flash would it matter if they have Flash player loaded... I'm not sure if it's all the same thing anyway as I have Flash loaded on my machine so I can't tell what the hecks going on with reader and the PC...

  • InDesign CC interactive PDF hyperlink issue on PC

Exporting as an interactive PDF using links to open another PDF file and the link works fine on a MAC not a PC? Any idea how to get it to work on a PC?

The links to open PDF files from within a PDF can be edited and re-linked to the proper folder in Adobe Acrobat version XI after the PDF has been exported out of InDesign CC. In the Tools panel, click Add or Edit Link, double click the link to open up Link Properties and then in the Actions tab, delete the action that is currently there. Then in the drop down for selection Action, choose Open a file and add it into the actions list selecting the sub folder and file that you want to open, then save the PDF.
It seems like this method of editing the link through Adobe Acrobat creates an absolute path that's recognizable on both Mac and PC. The link will work as long as your main PDF and all linking sub folders and files are together in the same root location.

  • Exporting from CS6 to PDF Hyperlink Problems

    Hi there,
I am developing a document in InDesign CS6.  The document is intended for viewing electronically and will include over 150 hyperlinks to different pdf files.
I followed the steps for adding a new hyperlink by chosing windows, interactive, hyperlinks.  I added a new hyperlink; selected "File" under the Link To menu; and then chose the file through the browsing option.
Here is my problem:  When I first exported to a pdf, the first few links worked beautifully!  I went through the rest of my document and entered all the hyperlinks needed (over 150).  I then exported to the interactive pdf; however, when i tested the file, the hyperlinks no longer worked!
I have made sure all the files are in the same file as well.
The intent of this document is to save the interactive pdf file, along with all the pdf files used for the hyperlinks, to a usb drive and distribute to over 100 employees with my company.
    Can anyone please help?
Thank you in advance for any advice you may have!

Select all, and in the tranparency palette turn on align to pixel grid.
Check the size of your outermost element in the transform panel to have the correct pixel dimensions.
You can also set your matte color to the color of the background.

  • How to create an interactive pdf, hyperlinking text to a video on a usb drive?

Creating an interactive pdf in InDesign CS6, hyperlinking text to a video.  Both pdf and video placed on a usb thumbdrive.  When clicking link on Mac a warning box came up, but after clicking Allow the video played fine.  On PC the warning box also came up but clicking Allow did nothing

You'll need to use startDrag and stopDrag  in order to be able to move an object (the slider handle).  You will need to specify a rectangle that has 0 height for the drag limits.  The width of that rectangle will define the maximum value of the scroll (which will be the maximum value of your scale.
Assuming you will have a linear scale for values along the drag line, the math is fairly easy to manage.  The x property of the handle at the minimum slider position should be 0.  You use the ratio of the current x position of the slider handle to the full width to determine what value to assign ( ex: ratio = handle.x / rectangleWidth).  So if the minimum value is 1K and the maximum value in 10K, you essentially have 9K represented by the length of the line, so the value provided by the slider position at any point along that line would be 1K + (ratio * 9K)
You can use a MOUSE_MOVE event listener that you assign when the slider's MOUSE_DOWN event occurs to update the textfield as the slider is moved.  You can remove the MOUSE_MOVE listener when the slider's MOUSE_UP event occurs.
So, in summary, you need to look into the startDrag and stopDrag methods, which will be inititiated using MOUSE_DOWN and MOUSE_UP events, respectively.  The MOUSE_DOWN event will create a MOUSE_MOVE listener that you will use to have a function continually update the textfield value displayed, while the MOUSE_UP event will have that MOUSE_MOVE listener removed.  The ratio of the x property of the slider to the total slideable distance will be used to determine the current value that the MOUSE_MOVE event handler assigns to the textfield display.

  • InDesign interactive pdf sound button

I have created an InDesign file with sound buttons on each page and exported it as an interactive pdf. A button is pressed to activate a short mp3 that has been placed on the page. The sounds are recycled from another project and well in that swf.
The problem is that the button in the pdf file needs to be pressed twice to play the sound when clicked the first time and only one click to play the sound again. I have used both on Click and on Release. The behavior is the same. What's going on here and how do I correct it?
This is part of an educational materials project and we are very picky about our products.
    Thanks

There is a solution to this problem. I mentioned it to my senior SE significant other and he know the answer right away.
In the button panel, when you add the sound button action to the button, you also add the Focus(pdf) action as well. This solves the double click issue.

  • Interactive PDF button problem

I created an interactive pdf in InDesign CS5.5. I added buttons on pages to navigate throughout the pages of the pdf. The pdf worked beautifully until a someone tried to open the pdf in Acrobat 6.0; all of the type (fonts) on the buttons became jumbled, like the font was missing, however the fonts are embedded in the pdf.
I need this pdf to work correctly in all versions of Acrobat and Acrobat Reader, as many clients will view the pdf and I have no control over what version they have of the application.
I thought that I could solve this problem by simply creating outlines on the fonts. This did not fix the problem, it actually made it worse. When I made the new interactive pdf, after creating outlines on the buttons, the text on the buttons is no longer visible, it disappeared.
Does anyone know any workarounds or fixes for this issue?

You're saying that in recent versions of Acrobat, the buttons look and work correctly, right?
And it's only when you try to open it in a version of Acrobat created in 2003, nine years ago, that you have a problem?
I think you're setting unreasonable expectations. There's actually a more serious problem than that, and much more likely to happen: Many Mac users use Apple Preview to view PDFs. Interactivity largely fails when viewed in Preview.
The answer, in my opinion, is to tell your readers that they should download the FREE Adobe Reader, or use a recent version (say Reader 8 and above), and if you're they are using a different reader that they may get unexpected results for viewing interactivity. And provide a link to download the FREE Adobe Reader.

  • InDesign: Interactive PDF, can I make a scrollbar?

Hello. I'm making a scrolling web page design on InDesign. This is just for the appearance and layout, it is not becoming a actual website. Is it possible to make a interactive pdf have a part that always stays on top when scrolling? like this website (or many websites) : http://aboutmarco.com/ or/ and is it possible to make a drop down file for the menu like this? Opperman Weiss
    Thanks!

At this point, this issue is the only problem that stands in the way of delivering an otherwise finished project. Is there a way to bring all my InDesign work into LiveCycle?
I've heard a little bit of discussion on this matter, mostly from the mouths of software developers and XML-jockeys who say something like "I bet we could parse the IDML and generate XFA".
    So basically, no.

  • InDesign created PDF hyperlinks not working on a CD

    Forum
I have multiple large documents (created in InDesign) that we are publishing as pdfs on a CD - they are hyperlinked together in InDesign (interactive dialogue) - but I cant get the links to work after the files are moved to a CD together.
The paths that are created for the links are just the local path on my computer - no good on the CD. How can I fix this????
    Phil

The trick is to get everything into one folder- in other words, you have to determine the structure of the CD before you start linking things up with InDesign.
Create a folder that represents the root directory of the CD. In that folder you want your InD files AND the PDF files that you want to link to, all arranged as they will appear on the final CD. I frequently create "dummy" PDFs for this- they have the file name and they are in the right spot, but they contain nothing but a few words on one page. I can replace them later with the real McCoy, providing I don't change names or locations.
When it's all over, I remove the InD files and their associated Links folders, and what I'm left with is a single folder that represents the final CD.
I hope I explained this well enough-- it's much easier to show it than tell it.

  • Is there a plug-in for Indesign Interactive PDF buttons which simulates the same control as Acrobat?

I want to know if there is a third party out there making plug-ins for Indesign CS6 specifically for interactive PDF buttons and forms which allows for better control over text boxes.... ie. date formatting, 1-10 characters per text boxes, etc.

Not that I've heard of. You'll have to tweak those features in Acrobat Pro.

  • Need help with InDesign interactive PDF

Ive created an interactive pdf through InDesign Digital Publishing. When I preview it in the folio builder everything is working the way I set it up. But when I publish and go to adobe's Digital Publishing to view it, only a few pages will show. I tried sharing it with another and they can only view two of the 10 pages. And the 2 pages they see do not work well. I was in CS6 and am upgrading to Cloud hoping that might help? Any ideas of what im doing wrong?

This is my first file I have built in InDesign's Digital Publishing Layout. I built it as an iPad format horizontal and vertical layouts in one file. I added it as an article to one folio (first as pdf and also tried automatic). I created it with buttons, some basic animation (images that fade from one to another). Pretty basic stuff. When I go to view it in the folio builder or folio layers it is fine. When I click on folio producer it sends me to: https://digitalpublishing.acrobat.com/app.html#x=folioproducer to view the "content" which isn't all there. And that is what is seen on the iPad.  Does that make sense? I new to this and obviously doing something wrong. Thanks for any advice to get this to work.

  • Help! InDesign interactive PDF buttons not working in Safari or on iPad

I made an infographic in Indesign for our university magazine with a QR code to link to an interactive pdf. Nothing too complicated animation wise, simply buttons that you can click on to view different parts of the graphic. However, the buttons are not working at all in Safari and on the iPhone and iPad, the buttons disapear completley. Please help.

    Thanks,

Whether buttons work correctly in a PDF file depend entirely on what PDF reader you're using. Here are a couple of important facts:
    * While corrected created interactive PDFs will display correctly in the FREE Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat, they probably won't display correctly in Apple's Preview application which is probably what you're viewing in Safari.
    * None of the PDF readers currently available on an iPad (e.g., iBooks, GoodReader, etc.) correctly handle interactivity like buttons on an iPad.

  • How do you create a non linear InDesign Interactive PDF modelled on having a 'home screen' from which you navigate?

I am trying to create an interactive presentation for a seminar the institute I work for hosted. I want to have a 'home screen' in which you can get a digest of what happened and then the viewer can subsequently view any of the 6 presentations that happened at the event (six icons will be on the 'homescreen' as well). After they are done viewing, lets say presentation 1, they press a home button and return to the original screen to view the rest if they so wish. Is this possible as an interactive PDF? If not any suggestions on how I go about creating it? Thank you!

You can do it with hyperlinks, link to: page then export to interactive pdf.
    Here is a test:

  • Indesign Interactive pdf

I have a 14 page document with double pages spreads and single front and back cover.
I would like the brochure to start on the single page front cover and have interactive page curl to the first open spread, I would like to page curl to continue throughout the document until finally finishing on the single back cover.
I have applied the document page curl creating it as swf then pdf, however the front and back page appears as spread with a extra white page.
    I am using CS5.5
Im new to interactive pdf so any advice on this would be great!
    Many Thanks!

I followed a tutorial that told me to export my doc as a SWF then place the SWF back into indesign onto a spread and export the spread I placed it on as a interactive pdf. Sorry not explaining it very well.

  • InDesign Interactive PDF/SWF/HTML

In InDesign, I'm trying to make it so an object (rectangular frame) moves down the page as you scroll as a .swf/html/interactive pdf (like the menu bar on the left here: http://peeltheorange.com/#what-we-do) THANKS!

It can't be done in InDesign, as far as I can tell. Definitely not possible in interactive PDF. Might be possible in a SWF but not from InDesign. You'd have to be a Flash Professional guru do to it in SWF perhaps. Most likely to accomplish in HTML, but NOT from InDesign. Time to go for Dreamweaver or Muse.
