InDesign Mac CS2 -- Screen Jumping -- Please help!

I write and edit in InDesign for much of the day on 11x17 layouts, so I am usually zoomed in at least 200% to save my eyes. The problem is, whenever I type, the screen recenters itself continuously, sometimes the cursor will barely be on the pages and often in one of the screen's corners, severly slowing my work.
Is there any way to just get the screen to stay still and not have to constantly redraw to save me from scrolling every time I make a change on a page, which is easily many hundreds of times per day? Even if it just centered on the cursor that would be a godsend.
Coworkers with the same version do not have this problem.

Not sure if I have a font manager plugin installed, as there's nothing under the plugins bar. But there is a font manager application, Extensis Suitcase (?). I'll try closing it, but I was told it needs to be open for my fonts to work. Thanks Peter.
Any other ideas -- perhaps a preference panel I'm missing? And if it's a CS2 thing, I can't upgrade, even for regular updates.
