InDesign Margins & Bleed Lines Disappeared

Hi,
I am using InDesign CC and I had all my margin lines and bleed lines visible when I was inserting images and text onto the pages. I think I accidentally pressed a wrong shortcut that had all the lines disappear and the pasteboard color changed to a lighter gray. It seems like it is some type of presentation mode when I was clicking shift + w. I closed the document and opened it back up again but the same thing is still there. I am not sure how to have all the margin lines and bleed lines reappear. I need help to fix it asap!
I attached a picture below of how my screen looks like right now.

  • Missing margin and bleed lines in latest indesign version release

    As soon as I updated to the latest version of InDesign CC my margin and bleed lines disappeared
    I've tried just about everything over several sessions and nothing seems to get them back. I really need them back soon so I can complete the projects I am working on.
    Anyone know what might be going on here?
    Any insight much appreciated!

    Thanks for the reply Peter I appreciate you taking the time.
    It was a case of not seeing what was under my nose! I had it in preview mode - can't believe I missed that one.

  • TOC Problem: Leader Lines disappeared after I've changed the font

    Hi,
    I am having a strange problem with Pages (I use the version in iWork 08). I am currently writing on my dissertation. I have used Helvetica while typing because it reads better on the screen. However, after changing the font to Georgia (for the final printout), my TOC got all messed up.
    First, I had beautiful leader lines that looked like this:
    Heading one ................. [page number]
    This was the default option. I did not change a thing. Then, after changing the font and the margins of the document, the leader lines disappeared and I could not get them back, even after setting them manually. Right now the entries look like this:
    Heading one [page number]
    ...which is very ugly.
    Any help is highly appreciated. I do not want to hand in the paper like this. (Also, switching the font back to Helvetica did not bring back the leader lines. This seems to be a strange bug in Pages.)

    Sounds to me as if the tab that the leader lines were attached to have been lost in your changed style, or have popped off the right hand margin. Leaders go with the tab which should be holding the right hand text in place. No tab, no leader.
    I have noticed a bug with tabs in Pages where if you have multiple tabs that should fit within a given space, the last one may not register and falls over to the next line.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
    If you haven’t already, you can try resolving the issue with not being able to send iMessages that contain portrait photos by restoring your iPhone to factory settings as shown in this article:

    Sounds like you have a stroke on it. Select the frame and set the stroke to none.

  • Circles w/o outlines, lines disappear

    I am new to drawing using APsE, so pardon me if this is a stupid question.
    I am having a terrible time drawing a complex segmented circle. The outer circle I got from a file. I then drew 3-pixel black lines dividing the circle into 12 pie-shaped regions.
    Problem 1: I wanted an inner circle that would be transparent fill but have a normal 3-pixel outline. Any circle I draw can have a black or white fill (but not a transparent one), and there doesn't seem to be any way to have the circle edge be black. The menu item Edit/Stroke Outline would seem to be the answer but it is always dimmed.
    Temporary solution: I made the inner circle black-filled, then added another slightly smaller white-filled circle, and moved the latter over the black-filled circle so only the thin black outer edge showed, effectively giving me a circle with a black edge.
    Problem 2: I still needed those 3-pixed lines dividing the inner circle into pie-shaped segments that matched the outer circle. I can draw only 1 pixel-wide lines (wider lines disappear - why is this?), but as soon as I draw a third line the second line disappears. For example, I can draw vertical and horizontal lines, but as soon as I draw a line 30 degrees off-vertical it one of the other lines disappears.
    Temporary solution: None
    I believe I went wrong when I started doing multiple circles. I would have no problem if I could just make an inner circle with the edge showing black but the inside being transparent.
    BTW, I want to then select, in the inner circle, alternating pie shapes and filling them with black. If you see I am going to get into trouble doing that please let me know and offer a solution.
    Thanks. I'm quite good at computers but graphics is like color to a blind person.
    P.S. I am on Windows 7 64-bit SP-1 and Adobe Photoshop Elements 10.0

    Create a new blank image.
    Use the Elliptical Marquee tool to create a large circular selection.
    Use Select...Save Selection to save the selection as "Large Circle".
    Select...Transform selection, and drag one of the corners to make a smaller circle.
    Select...Save Selection to save this as "Small Circle".
    Create a new empty layer.
    Load the large circle selection.
    Stroke the selection with 3px black on the inside.
    Create a new layer.
    Load the small circle selection.
    Stroke it with 3px black on the inside.
    In the Layers Palette, highlight both layers containing stroked circles.
    Choose the Move tool, and in its Options Bar use Align...Vertical Centers, then Align...Horizontal Centers.
    At this point, your image looks like this:
    and your layers look like this:
    Create a new empty layer.
    Use the Line tool and hold down the Shift key to draw a 3px horizontal line filled with black.
    Simplify the line layer.
    Hit Ctrl+J to duplicate the line layer.
    With the Move tool, hold down the Shift key to rotate the copied line 30 degrees.
    Repeat steps 19 and 20 until you have all the line segments drawn.
    At this point your image looks like this:
    and your layers look like this:
    Highlight all the line segment layers, right-click on one of them in the Layers Palette and choose "Merge Layers" to get this layer arrangement:
    On the merged layer, use Select...Load Selection to load the "Large Circle" selection.
    Select...Inverse to invert the selection and hit your Delete key to trim the line segments.
    Deselect All.
    Use Ctrl+Alt+Shif+E (Stamp Visible) to create a new merged layer from all the layers.
    Use the Fill tool on that merged layer to colour to your heart's content.
    The final layers:
    And the final image:
    Added:
    Whooooops!  I see that the line segments aren't centered in the circles.  Add step 24a:
    24a.  Select the layers and use the Move tool's Alignment options to center everything.
    After step 25, you might have to re-align the loaded selection with the image....
    To get the transparency you want in the segments of the inner circle, simply select the segments with the Magic Wand and hit the Delete key, hide all the layers except the top one, then save the image as a PNG:

  • Margin around line sin JTextPane are too big!

    i am working on an HTML Editor, i have a rowheader that displays the line numbers of the document. The problem is that they don't line up correctly. This is because of the margins around lines of text in the JTextPane. Is there a way i can get get the line height of a JTextPane? i figure i could use this to set the margin around the line numbers:
    margin = (lineHeight-characterHeight)/2;
    any help is appreciated. Especially if you could point me to a really nice StyledDocument, Document, AttributeSet tutorial that can help answer a lot of the questions i might have about this sort of thing.
    thank you,

    Check out the FontMetrics class. I think you can use textPane.getFontMetrics().

  • White line disappears when I shrink the image

    Hi,
    I am working in an image that has a drawing with thin white lines over a dark background.
    When I shrink the image, the white lines disappear. I would like to know how to thicken the white lines, so that it doesn't disappear when I shrink it...
    Thank you,

    Hi John,
    The image is attached now. I want to make an icon out of it. The image of the icon that I have got so far is attached too. This icon was achieved programatically through C#, so I guess it is messing it, there is even a loss of color.
    So I would like to do everything in Photoshop, to leave it ready to be an small bitmap with 24-bit color and all the white lines...

  • Line disappears with big zoom

    Hello.
    I need to draw line in my plugin. I create stream from string (for example) "q 0 1 0 RG 0.12 w 0 878.742 m 0 1133.86 l S Q". Then i use AVPageViewDrawCosObj. In common cases everything is OK. But with big zoom (for 100cm x 100 cm page big zoom is 750+, for 600cm x 400cm - 120+) line desappears. Different lines disappears with different zoom, but disappears all lines. What could be the problem?
    Thank you.

    But it disappears. Maybe there's another reason? Now i have this code:
    m_entitiesString = "q 0 1 0 RG 2 w 0 878.742 m 0 1133.86 l S Q";
    CosDoc cosDoc = PDDocGetCosDoc(pdDoc);
        ASStm stm = ASMemStmRdOpen((char*)m_entitiesString.c_str(), m_entitiesString.size());
        CosObj newStream = CosNewStream(cosDoc, true, stm, 0, false,
    CosNewNull(), CosNewNull(), m_entitiesString.size());
        ASStmClose(stm);
        CosObj streamDict = CosStreamDict(newStream);
        CosDictPut(streamDict, ASAtomFromString("Type"), CosNewName(cosDoc, false, ASAtomFromString("XObject")));
        CosDictPut(streamDict, ASAtomFromString("Subtype"), CosNewName(cosDoc, false, ASAtomFromString("Form")));
        CosObj bbox = CosNewArray(cosDoc, false, 0);
        CosArrayInsert(bbox, 0, CosNewFixed(cosDoc, false, (pContentBBox->left)));
        CosArrayInsert(bbox, 1, CosNewFixed(cosDoc, false, (pContentBBox->bottom)));
        CosArrayInsert(bbox, 2, CosNewFixed(cosDoc, false, (pContentBBox->right)));
        CosArrayInsert(bbox, 3, CosNewFixed(cosDoc, false, (pContentBBox->top)));
        CosDictPut(streamDict, ASAtomFromString("BBox"), bbox);
        AVDevRect devrect;
        AVPageViewRectToDevice(pPageView, pContentBBox, &devrect);
        AVPageViewDrawCosObj(pPageView, newStream, &devrect);
        CosObjDestroy(newStream);
    Let me remind that with small zoom everything is ok threfore problem unlikely in small size of line.

  • Setting Bleed Lines and Crop Marks

    I'm trying to lay out a 4x6 postcard on a 4.5x6.5 document. I want my crop marks and bleed lines at 4x6 to tell the printer where to trim off the extra. I'm setting my bleeds up for .25 on each side to give me lines that make a 4x6 finished product but it's not working. The crop marks aren't even close to where I want them. I've set up guides at 4x6 to compare where they are landing and it's way off. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Please Help!

    Make your document size 4 X 6 and use the bleed setting to set up the extra bleed (Document Setup > More Options).

  • Music notation lines disappear - PPro CS4 interlace?

    I am editing footage to include music notation added on top of video footage. - ie 5 horizontal lines with music on them. Imported as screen grabs.
    Footage is fine, and the music images are fine.
    As I position them on my window, I start losing the notation lines. Some become grey and indestinct, others get bold.
    I have been moving the vertical position in the 'motion effects and they return - but never all 5 lines, and not as clear as I can see them in the source viewer.
    I have also been creating a 'bevel edge' letterbox round them, and it also makes the lines disappear.
    I assumed it was a interlace issue, and have selected deinterlace on the drop menu for the images, but nothing really changes.
    Any ideas anyone?
    Thanks,
    Don

    Post a screen shot or two?  Maybe that will help give someone an idea.
    I wonder if this is the classic problem of thin horizontal lines and interlacing.  Are the lines with the interlacing exactly horizontal, angled, or curved?
    Another way of ruling this out: what is the pixel thickness of the lines that are showing the problem?

    Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
    If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

  • Document setup bleed lines absent

    I'm setting up the bleed on a set of InDesign CS5.5 documents. When I go to File: Document Setup: More Options, and set the bleed to .125 in, I don't see the little red bleed guide line outside my document outline. I've gone to InDesign: Preferences: Guides and Pasteboard, where I found there is an entry for the bleed guide. I can make guides just fine, I just can't get the bleed guide to show up on my pasteboard anymore.
    All clues welcome.
    Thanks.
    --jody.

    The show/hide guides commands have moved around a bit from versiontoe version, I think, but they shoud still be someplace in the View Menu whatever version you might have. They will not be visible, however, in Preview mode (the pasteboard will also disappear).

  • Indesign/pdf: bleed marks for cover

    I am trying to save a pdf book cover file with bleed marks before I send it to the printer.  My cover is 6x9.25 with .125 bleeds, so I made an indesign document with those specifications, placed my photoshopped cover which included the bleed (6.25x9.5) and it looked fine--the border around the 6x9.25 portion was correct.  I exported it to a pdf, though, having clicked the bleed marks box and the use document bleed settings box, and the pdf that resulted was the 6.25x9.5 cover with a white border around it and the bleed marks set in this white border so that one would trim just to the edges of the 6.25x9.5 box, not .125 inside this box on each side, or 6x9.25.  That's obviously not helpful.  I don't know what to do.  I also tried making the original indesign document 6.25x9.5 with the bleeds set at 0, and then adding the bleeds in the export stage, which put them in the white border again, but this time so that there would be a .125 white border around the whole 6.25x9.5 image.  Thanks for any help.  I've looked all over the internet and from all I can see it should be really simple.  I just can't make it work.

    First: The crop marks that they are asking for are little lines that mark the edges of the final document.
    InDesign and Illustrator have document options that allow you to set up the bleed and slug (like a second bleed with printer information). Photoshop does not have this option. InDesign and Illustrator allow you to select an option to print a document with the bleed and crop marks. You will not be able to set up these in the PDF either, because the PDF will put the crop marks at the edges of the bleed, not the final document.
    You will probably need expand the size of the photoshop document and add crop marks manually. The crop marks should look like a corner, situated so that the point touches the outer most corners of the document.
    Or you could place the images in InDesign and export PDFs from InDesign with the correct crop marks. You will have to set the document size to the actual size of the business card and the bleed to the width of the the bleed. Then place the Photoshop file centered in the InDesign document. Next you will export the document as a PDF, be sure to turn on "crop marks" under "Marks and bleeds" on the left hand side.
