Indesign not opening after update

Just updated Indesign with todays update. Now it won't open... I get this error when trying to open it followed by a bunch of 6 or more other similar errors and the it say it closed unexpectedly. Really annoying because I need to get work done and this is stopping me.
"Cannot load Assignment UI.InDesignPlugin because it requires version 9.2 or later of the Username UI.InDesignPlugin plug-in. Please contact vendor for compatible version of Username UI.InDesignPlugin.

I'm on OSX 10.9.1 on a Retina MBP.
Thanks

I am having the same problem. I did the update on Friday and now it won't open. I am getting the same error message you are getting. Hase anyone solved this?

This seems to be most common with lower resolution pictures.  You can go into settings > general > accessibility and turn reduce motion motion off and then try to rescale.  Or user a higher resolution picture, which works better with the new OS.

Aperture will not open after I updated. What do I do?

Mgoss, quit the installer or App Store/Software Update (depending on what you're using to update) and restart your machine. With Aperture closed, drag the Aperture application to the trash, then reinstall Aperture from your original media and, if necessary, update again.

  • AS does not open after update

Cannot get adobe story to open after update (indeed there was difficulty before as well; it got worse after update). This applies to both offline and online. Even after a restart. All I get is a big, blank, black page, with no projects on it, not even the sample project. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    Thanks, Ali.
I'm working on MacBookPro Intel with Snow Leopard, 10.6.5 using Firefox as
the browser. I have Chrome and Safari, but haven't tried them.
I updated Flash. I find AIR installer and uninstaller in
Applications>Utilities, but I can't find the AIR app anywhere. (So how was I
able to go online with AS in first place?) When I try to unintall AIR (with
the idea of reinstalling) it says that Adobe Story will no longer work
    (should I proceed anyway?)
I've cleared the cache in Firefox, restarted AS, but the clearance had no
effect. Still get a blank, black page.
Thanks for trying to figure this out. Any other suggestions?

  • Safari will not open after update

After I updated to Safari 4, the program will not open!
I get a message that tells me that OS X 10.5.8 is not compatible with this new version.
I have read other posts with similar questions, and tried to see if I could find a crash report that could tell me some more about this problem - but the latest crash report is a month old, and I did the update a few days ago.
Does anybody know what to do?

Go to your Hard drive icon (upper right corner)
OPen it and go to the Applications folder.
Open that, and go down to Utilities.
Double click the Disk Utility folder.
In the resulting window, select your HD icon on the left hand upper side.
    Then click on "Repair Permissions."
It might take a little while if you've never done it.
If it says "Repair Permissions Complete"at the end, you're good to go.

  • Word documents located in a sparse bundle will not open after update to Lion

I have several files of Word documents created by Office for Mac 2008. These files are located in two different sparse bundles for security. One sparse bundle is the original. The second sparse bundle is a larger maximum size that I copied the original Word documents into.  My plan was to delete the original after I confirmed that the second larger one worked.   After updating to Lion, I also uninstalled Office for Mac 2008, and installed Office for Mac 2011.  Now when I try to open these Word documents, I get a message saying that Word cannot not open these documents because they may be in use or may have unacceptable symbols in the file name.  If I control click on the documents, I can see the document in Preview but still cannot open in Word.  In addition, I am able to open Word documents that are on my desktop. I tried moving my folders out of the sparse bundles by copying them to the desktop but this did not work either.
Help with this problem would be greatly appreciated.

    Routine maintenance is imperative.
I still advocate Repairing Permissions (with Apple's Disk Utility) before AND after any system update or upgrade, as well as before AND after installing any software that requires an installer that asks for your password.
I have seen software installations go sour because the installer did not find everything as and where it should be.
I have also seen software installations go bad because the installer did not clean up after itself properly and did not leave everything as and where it should be.
This is just my own personal opinion and practice based on my own observations. Others may disagree and that's OK. I can only base my routines and my advice to others on my own experience and conclusion. I don't pretend to know why others believe otherwise.
Repairing Permissions after the fact (i. e. not immediately before and after an install) seldom helps.; Try it anyway, though.

Additionally, if your machine does not run 24/7 so that it runs the daily, weekly and monthly Cron Scripts in the middle of the night as intended by Apple, run Cocktail (shareware) as well.
Cron Scripts are maintenance routines designed by Apple to run on a daily, weekly and monthly basis in the middle of the night.
If you don't run them, you WILL run into trouble, sooner rather than later.
Here's an excerpt from the Apple tech doc
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107388
Mac OS X performs background maintenance tasks at certain times if the computer is not in sleep mode. If your computer is shut down or in sleep at the designated times, the maintenance does not occur. In that case, you may want or need to run these manually.
Mac OS X periodically runs background tasks that, in part, remove system files that are no longer needed. This includes purging older information from log files or deleting certain temporary items. These tasks do not run if the computer is shut down or in sleep mode. If the tasks do not run, it is possible that certain log files (such as system.log) may become very large.
    Also, from:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106978
The disk activity generated by find is a normal part of file system maintenance, used for tasks such as removing invisible temporary files that are used by the system. It is scheduled to occur early in the morning at 03:15 everyday, 04:30 on Saturdays, and 05:30 on the first day of each month.
    NOTE:
There have been comments to the effect that Apple "fixed" this in 10.4.2 and later versions of the OS, but I have not been able to verify this to my satisfaction. The reference in the 10.4.2 release notes are far from explicit on this subject.

  • ITunes will not open after updating

Ever since the update to 7.1.1 iTunes will not open.
I get a pop-up window that says iTunes has stopped working.
I have followed Apple's instructions for Vista about uninstalling all Apple products. I have done this 8+ times and I am at a total loss. I am a webmaster and Sr. Sys. Admin for a software company, so it's not like I don't have experience with computer/software issues.
When I look at the Windows application log. I have this error:
Faulting application iTunes.exe, version 7.7.1.11, time stamp
    0x4890a5ee, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 6.0.6001.18000, time

process id 0xf44, application start time 0x01c8fb2e587a39a9.
This started happening after I updated.
No other issues with any other programs. Quicktime will start up and run.

I hear you. My itunes is fubared and Apple and ALL the articles they send do NO good. I have emailed Apple many times and nothing helps.
Whatever they changed with version 7.1 messed up itunes and you can't go back.
I have emailed Apple asking them if I can delete my itunes directory and any references to itunes and NOT lose my 10K songs. They havent responded to that email and my guess is that it will delete it. But Im not going to risk losing my library until I know for sure !
Im in the same boat you are, I dont want to lose my library either. APPLE NEEDS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM AND NOW !!
anyway this is a pain in the *** but itunes(windows) will open this way
    UNTIL APPLE FIXES THIS !
    1.boot up windows
2.right click on your START button
3.go to C:\ProgramData\Apple Computer\iTunes (my machine is a Dell with Vista)
4.go to the itunes directory C:\ProgramData\Apple Computer\iTunes\SC INFO
5.delete BOTH files SC info.sidb AND SC info.sibb
6.launch itunes, it should open, mine did.
    7. if you have any purchased songs from the istore, log-in with your user name/password.
THIS WORKED FOR ME BUT YOU HAVE TO LEAVE YOUR ITUNES OPEN, IF YOU CLOSE IT OUT, YOU WILL HAVE TO REPEAT THE PROCESS AGAIN. (at least I did)
    GOOD LUCK !!

With that one, the only workaround I'm aware of at the moment is to disable your BonJour Service.
Right-click "My Computer" and select "Manage".
    Expand "Services and Applications"
    Open "Services"
Right click on the BOnJour service and select "properties".
In the General tab, change the start-up type to "disabled".
    OK out of the tab.
Restart the PC. Does iTunes launch for you now?

  • Adobe Acrobat 6.0.1 will not open after update

I was prompted to add a patch to my Adobe Acrobat 6.0 running on a Mac OS X 10.5.8 After down loading the patch and installing, Adobe Acrobat will not open. A prompt comes up warning me; "The currently selected language resources are not supported by the current version of Adobe Acrobet. Please reselect the language in the international Systems Preference panel." I did this to no avail. Anyone else with this problem? Thanks!

Did the update info come from Adobe? In any case, you might try a repair (not sure how that is done on a MAC. You can also download updates from Adobe at http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Macintosh.
