InDesign & Photoshop Elements

Hello,
InDesign CS3 has been crashing a lot when I try to place something (or save, or export a pdf). Seems to happen whenever I have the new version of Elements open at the same time. Any thoughts?
Mac 10.5, G4
Thanks,
Don

I would think it had more to do with you using Leopard.

  • InDesign, Press Ready, Photoshop Elements

I would like to create a press-ready pdf using InDesign CS4.  I want to place a photo I've adjusted in Photoshop Elements 5 into my InDesign document.  I've been told the photo would be RGB and I need to create a CMYK document.  Is there anything I can do to make the photo CMYK?  (As is probably evident, I'm very new to design!)

    Not to worry.
Place the photo and use the Press setting when exporting the PDF. InDesign will take care of the conversion for you.

  • Situation / Assumptions: Hardware:           ASUS K70 Laptop ABseries. OS:                Windows 7 Home Premium. Software:           Adobe Photoshop Elements 12. Purchased CD version. (Consists of two parts; Organizer and Editor). Installed the end of 20

  • Where is the help in Adobe Photoshop Elements 13?

I've just purchased Adobe Photshop Elements 13 but can't find any proper Help. When I click on Help on the File menu, I am taken to a web page (Photoshop Elements Help | Photoshop Elements Help). It doesn't matter what I am doing (e.g. using the clone tool or trying to apply kerning for example), I always end up on this same non-context-sensitive web page. I am an experienced user of graphics software but am new to Photoshop Elements.
I'm trying to kern some text characters so I entered "kerning" in the Search field. The first "hit" was InDesign Help | Kerning and tracking but nothing they say seems to apply to my particular version of Photoshop Elemts - whcih being V13 is hopefully the latest. And who are they? Are they an official voice for Adobe? Their "help" was way off.
Could someone point me to the Help for Adobe Photoshop Elements 13?
As an aside, why does Adobe hit one with a 27 page legal agreement before one can install the software? I confess I didn't have my lawyer with me and may not have read all 27 pages.

I don't believe that you can kern in PSE as it comes out of the box. However, there is a very affordable add-on which allows one to do this. It is version specific.
    About Elements+
BTW, Elements 13 itself is really good. I'm really pleased with its features and ease of use. It would just be nice to locate the relevant help more easily.
There are available several books which augment the native help files. Photoshop Elements - The Missing Manual - by Barbara Brundage is excellent. I have no commercial connection to the author or to the publisher. Don't hesitate to come here to the forum for help. There are many talented contributors. We look forward to your progress.

  • How do I get Photo Editor to work in Photoshop Elements 12?

My Photoshop Elements 12 (PSE-12) worked fine until I recently had to repair/recover my (only) PC (Win7prof, 64bit, 2 TB HDD, 8GB RAM). I didn’t then know about any de-activationsif in case that might be the cause. Now I have done all ‘Adobe’s ‘formalities’  (AdobeID, AdobeAccount, installed CreativeCloud) and tried to ‘sign-out’ in CreativeCloud to de-activate according to instructions in Help – and then re-installed the PSE-12. But only Organizer seems to be installed, not PhotoEditor, the module I really need.
How shall I get PhotoEditor to work again? Helo asap is much appreciated. Pertti Rönnberg

  • HT202786 how do I import a photo into Photoshop elements from Photos

I am using Photoshop Elements with templates and photo editing and it no longer gives me the option in preferences to export to Elements in photo like there was in iPhoto.  Any ideas on what to do

    Cathy,
Your question is not remotely a Color Management issue, so this is the wrong forum  Consider posting in the InDesign or Ps Elements forum.
It looks like you need help understanding some very elementary application-specific basics.

  • Printing from photoshop elements 6 for mac

I have an i-mac and use photoshop elements 6.  I have created hundreds of images but when i have contacted printers to print cards i created from these images using indesign i have been told by many printers that there is an issue regarding RGB vs CMYK .  Where and how can i get my RGB images printed for a reasonable price.  billrene

The main question I have is whether or not there is an efficient way to get a rgb images printed.  I have an Imac whose screen is a rgb pattern so even if i convert the images to cmyk (which i can do in a couple different ways -- through indesign or putting the images in photoshop).  however since my sreen is a rgb format i can not acurately see the changes I have made through converting to cmyk.  also i have several hundred images i have created and would rather not have to convert them all before printing.  I have had problems finding a printer that will even attempt to print rgb images.  I have checked at kinkos as well as several print shops in montana where i live.  each time i am told they can  not print rgb. the images I sent to those printers were unusable because of the color distortions.   When I talked with some one in the Apple store they suggested I get a different computer.  It has also been suggested i get a printer that could be calibrated to the rgb format and i could print the images myself.  another suggestion i received was that there may be a calibration program/software that i could use to make the converesion.    Help.  billrene

  • Photoshop Elements 10: Problem opening .csf

    Hi,
I'm currently designing the cover for my highschool's yearbook and the company that's printing our books sent us an email with a .csf file telling me to do the following:
"Before starting on your cover, please make sure you have loaded the "Jostens.csf" file.
The attached file “Jostens.csf” is the colour management file that will need to be loaded into the programs you will be using to create the cover. Whether you’re working in Adobe Photoshop, InDesign or Illustrator, the procedure for activating these colour settings is the same.
From the Edit menu, select Colour Settings. Click the Load button and browse to the Jostens.csf file. Select it and click OK. Click OK in the Settings window and your cover file will now be set to print properly at the plant."
Now I tried doing what they told me to but when I go to Color Settings I cannot find a Load button.
I also tried to simply double click the file to load it onto Elements but I get this error message saying:
"Cannot Open 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 10\Required\ColorSettings\Jostens 2015.csf' because it is the wrong type of file."
My question is, how do I load this .csf file into Elements 10?

It looks like a Problem in this thread http://forums.adobe.com/message/4004903#4004903, only i have this problem with normla .jpg images. Is there a workaround?

  • Photoshop Elements 13.1 crashes immediately

I have installed Adobe Photoshop 13 and bought a licence. I updated to 13.1. Every time I attempt to import files into Organizer it crashes and then the program closes. I was having trouble importing with original 13 download as well until I started importing a few directories at a time, but now I cannot import at all.

  • Farbmodus CMYK in Photoshop Elements 13

Man braucht doch eh keine Umwandlung in CMYK. Platziere die Bilder in InDesign in RGB. Die Konvertierung erfolgt frühestens beim PDF-Export.

  • Photoshop Elements fails

Just loaded Photoshop Elements 4.0 to Macbook with OS X 10.4. Upon opening after install, error message that application cannot launch. It fails onscreen as TWAIN menus are running. Is Elements conflicting with my CS versions of Indesign and Illustrator? I am running Acrobat 6.0. I have an Epson Stylus CX4200 Printer/Copier/Scanner. Is there a conflict with this? I am also having neverending problems setting up Mail with sympatico. Do you think I have bought a lemon mac here?

The mac version of elements cannot use your catalog and does not contain the organizer. If you have tags you want to keep for use on the mac, use the write tags to file command in the Windows organizer, which will convert the tags to metadata keywords the mac version of PE can understand. Depending on your external is formatted and what kind of sharing you've got set up, the mac should be able to see the photos on the external.

  • Installing Photoshop Elements plus In Design

I have Indesign Standard (Eduction) version installed.  My operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium.  Can I install Photoshop Elements 10 successfully without any conflict with Photoshop already installed with the Indesign programme?

Follow the link for clarification http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/863/cpsid_86374.html
Start with Disc #1 to install on Windows 32 bit however the Disc #2 is to install on Windows 64 bit.

  • When trying to register Photoshop Elements with my serial number, only the numbers will show, not any letters in the number. Why?

When I try to register Photoshop Elements, only the numbers show in the boxes, none of the letters in the serial number will show.

Then obviously Elements is different from Photoshop, Indesign or Illustrator which all have only numbers.

  • Application Launch Failure - Quicken, Appleworks, Photoshop Elements, etc

I recently installed an iPal exernal hard drive, and only moved my iTunes directory, photo files and other loose files to it for storage and access. I do not have programs operating from it. I started having trouble getting Quicken 2006 to find my financial institutions and cannot send checks.
After several troubleshooting excercizes i shut down. Now I get the following error message trying to open the following apps: Quicken, Photoshop Elements, Appleworks, inDesign, etc. Error message reads: The application "Quicken 2006" could not be launched because of a shared library error: ",<Quicken><CarbonLib><CFMPriv_ImageCapture>"
iLife programs, mail, Camino, Quicktime all work fine. Can anyone suggest what to do? I tried to reinstall Quicken and even from the install disk, I get the same error. What gives?

  • Using Adobe Bridge with Photoshop Elements

I have an iMAC with iLife 08.
I take photos in RAW format with a Nikon camera.
I have been editing photos this way:
After uploading photos to iPhoto, export them as jpg to a new folder on the desktop, external HD or wherever. I open Photoshop Elements, edit the exported photo.
Then I'm stuck with my edits outside of iPhoto, unless I then import them back into iPhoto. It works, but it's cumbersome.
Today I thought I'd try a different route. I opened Photoshop Elements, and tried to use Bridge to browse photos. I can find the iPhoto library easy enough, but if I click on it, it opens iPhoto, and I'm stuck - can't open the photos in Photoshop.
I am hoping that if I do it correctly, I can save my edits directly back into iPhoto.
    Any ideas?

Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
