InDesign Reinstallation Missing Plug-ins

Hi, all,
Apple recently replaced the hard drive in my MacBook Pro.
I reinstalled all my Adobe CS2 Creative Suite Software
(from disks) and now can open none of the CS2 InDesign files
I created prior to the hard drive replacement because of various
missing plug-ins. The InDesign error message lists missing
LILO.InDesignplugin and CellStyles.rpin.InDesignplugin
as the culprits.
Adobe told me this is due to a faulty reinstallation. So I de-installed
and then reinstalled the whole creative suite. The problem persists.
Apple says it's Adobe's fault, not theirs. Adobe now says they can't
support me because they only offer support for CS3 and CS4.
They've referred me to the collective wisdom of the forum.
Can anyone help? Do I need to configure some plug-ins? Import
some plug-ins? Where do they come from?
Thanks.

Hmm. I created all the files using my own software on my own laptop. If they were created in an updated version of CS2 would this error occur? I tried updating CS2 but that hasn't helped either, problem remains. I did install a trial copy of CS4 I downloaded and can open the files there...but I'll have to buy it.

  • Indesign CS6 Missing Plug-ins

When I launch Indesign it states
"Cannot load JPEG Export UI.IndesignPlugin because it requires JPEG Export Filter.  Please install the JPEG Exporter Filter plug-in and restart Indesign."
I click "ok", then another pop-up states
"Cannot load Layout Adjustment Panel.IndesignPlugin because it requires Layout Adjustment.  Please install the Layout Adjustment plug-in and restart Indesign."
I've had Indesign installed on my iMac for a couple of years; haven't used it much, but I don't recall it ever doing this before.  Any ideas on how to correct this issue?
    Thank you

That means that something in the user account is screwed up.
Go back to the first account and start by trashing the prefs. See Replace Your Preferences . You're also going to need to see Access hidden user library files | Mac OS 10.7 and later to find the two folders that hold the prefs files.
If just trashing the prefs doesn't clear it up, that means that more than just the two files are messed up. The good news is you can replace the entire two folders and it should work. Go back to the original account and rename the two folders (do this first so the entire folders will be replaced, not just the files inside them), then copy the folders from the new user.

  • Suddenly getting "Missing Plug-Ins" errors when opening .indd files in InDesign CS2

I have a PC running Windows 7 and InDesign CS2. The laptop's installation of Windows was corrupted and I had to re-install the OS. I backed up all files, reinstalled the OS, and then reinstalled applications. One of those applications was InDesign CS2. However, after the installation of CS2 on the fresh copy of Windows, I noticed that I have trouble opening most, but not all, of the InDesign files on my hard drive.
When I try to open a .indd file I see an error message pop up that says "Missing Plug-ins. LILO.APLN, DYNAMICDOCUMENTS.RPLN, CONDITIONALTEXT.RPLN" and three more. Under that list of missing plugins is the warning "This document uses one or more plug-ins which are not currently available on your system. Do you want to open anyway?"  If I click "okay" I then am met with another dialog box that says "Cannot open file. TEXT.RPLN, LAYER.RPLN" and on and on for about 60 more items.
I KNOW WHAT YOU'RE THINKING! I've searched around concerning this issue and it appears the consensus is that the file was opened by a newer version of InDesign. That possibility is, in fact, an impossibility. Never have I used a newer version of InDesign. The files that I am working on were backed up, stored on local storage and not touched once before reinstalling the OS and reinstalling InDesign CS2.
I also noticed that not all InDesign file formats were associated with InDesign in "Windows Programs and Defaults." I changed those to look to InDesign. I've also uninstalled InDesign CS2 and re-installed.
Not all InDesign CS2 files are exhibiting this behavior. So far, it appears more than half are, but some can be opened with no problems. There seems to be no correlation between which ones are able to be opened and which ones can't be opened.
What could have happened to these files and is there any possibility of opened them again? Any guidance is greatly appreciated.

Conditional Text was a new feature in CS4. I'm thinking, can you explain how your old CS2 documents became aware of it?
    Not exactly sure myself. Abiogenesis?
    [Edit]
Almost forgot. I wrote a script to unequivocally determine the InDesign version a document was last saved as:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4071273
I'll give that a try today. Even an affirmative judgement that the files are newer than CS2 would not impress me however. The fact remains, the files were copied off one hard drive over to another, the plug was pulled on the hard drive, the PC was re-imaged, CS2 was reinstalled, the files were copied back over... and whammo.

  • Newly created InDesign 5.5 file missing plug-ins, can't open now

How can I open an InDesign 5.5 file that says it's missing plug ins and won't open, when I just opened and created the file last week?

When I try to open a CS6 file in CS5.5, I get the error message:
The way to generate this other message:
is to try to open something that InDesign can't open. This is sometimes an InDesign file that is corrupt. Once I found poorly configured backup software keeping files open. In other cases I've had clients hand off files that were supposed to be InDesign files but turned out to be renamed zipfiles or PDF files or Word files (all of which fall under the "may not support the file format" statement above). You've already ruled out it being open elsewhere by searching for .idlk files, and you've ruled out plugin issues already (by not having a CS6 file generate the new "because it was saved with a newer version" message, and chances that you've installed some kind of plugin that ), so it almost has to be a file that is broken or misnamed in some way.

  • InDesign file won't open, missing plug-ins

Anyone ever seen this error message when trying to open an Adobe InDesign file?
    Missing plug-ins:
    worldready.rpln
    dynamicdocuments.rpln
    conditionaltext.rpln
    sharedcontent.rpln
I am using a PC with CS6, but also tried another PC with CS3. Same issue with various backups of the files.
The files seem to all be older than 2012, and appear to not have a program associated with them (appear as white icons, not typical color) even though they say InDesign, INDD file when you mouse over them.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Missing Plug-ins - Package And Preflight.APLN from InDesign Document

If a user creates a file in InDesign CC and then tries to open it in InCopy CS6 they get the following error.
    Missing Plug-ins, Cannot Open File
    PACKAGE AND PREFLIGHT.APLN
The Doument "filename.indd" uses one or more plug-ins which are not currently available on your system. Do you want to open anyway?
This happens whether the copy of InCopy is on the same PC as InDesign or a seperate PC without InDesign. InCopy is installed seperately from the CC.
Clicking OK opens the file normally.
We have checked that both versions of the software match at v8.0.2.
I've heard it might be due to embedding of this file but the designers say they are not yet at the stage of packaging this file when they get this error so nothing should be embedded.
    Can anyone help?
    Simon

Hi, Thanks for pointing out the error.
I have checked back with our designer and found out that they are using InDesign CS6 and not CC. (I was confused as they used CC to install it rather than our seperate deployment tool).
The problem however remains the same.

  • Missing plug-ins help? CS5 Adobe InDesign

I'm trying to open an .indd file on an InDesign training cd and it says missing plug-ins conditional text.rpln, worldready.rpln, and dynamicdocument.rpln. (I think the version of InDesign I have may be a trial version). Where can I get these or what can I do???? I'm running Mac 10.6.7. Thanks

What you have is a version mismatch. ThAT's the kind of message you receive when trying to open a file saved in a newer version than the one you are using.
On window, go the help menu and press the Ctrl key while selecting About InDesign. On Mac it's under the InDesign menu, and you need to hold the Cmd key. This will open a detailed "about" dialog with the full version and build inthe upper left corner. What is it? What version is th training disk labeled for?

  • Missing plug-ins for InDesign CS4? Fehlende Zusatzmodule für InDesign CS4?

Missing plug-ins for InDesign CS4? Fehlende Zusatzmodule für InDesign CS4?
    Hello! Hallo!
I am working with CS4 on the Mac OS X, version 10.6.8. I created some InDesign files with it a couple of weeks ago. When I want to open them now again, it shows me a long list of plug-ins that I supposedly have to activate first or I need to buy the newest CS as an alternative.1. How did this problem come off? 2. How can I activate the missing plug-ins?
    1. Wie ist das Problem zustande gekommen? 2. Wie kann ich die benötigten Zusatzmodule aktivieren?
    Thank you all! Danke schön!

Actually, Indesign only says like "I can't open, because it was saved from a newer version" and does not list any extensions/plugins.
If you now make a new document, save it and open again - will it work?
Those plug-ins are usually enabled/disabled via the Adobe Extension Manager (Menü "Hilfe"->Erweiterungen verwalten).

  • Unable to open documents because of missing plug ins

I am unable to open documents in CS3 (version 5.04)
    I am getting a message:"Missing Plug Ins: Conditional Text.InDesignPlugIn, WorldReady.InDesignPlugin.
The document "xxxxx.indd" uses one or more plug-ins which are not currently available on your system. Do you want to open anyway?"
If I click on OK I get another window, stating "Cannot Open File", a list of all kind of missing Plugins and the message "Cannot open "xxxxx.indd". Please upgrade your plug-ins to their latest versions, or upgrade to the latest version of Adobe InDesign.
I don't want to switch to CS4 and as far as I know version 5.04 of CS3 is the latest.
Any ideas of what I could do to get the latest PlugINs or anything else that would help?
    Thank you!
    Anne

Probably, but it's 100% not necessary when going from CS4 to CS3. It might be a case of 'half read, then half-understood'.
As this is a really frequent question and there are still no sticky posts: anyone up for a "feature request" that makes InDesign check the version number before opening? (Of course that wouldn't work backwards to CS3. Still, it'd avoid these kind of posts when CS6 comes out. Note: not CS5, because that would have no problems opening CS4, but CS4 would have problems with Cs5! Oh, for planning ahead ...  )

  • Missing plug-ins error

    Hello everyone,
I am attempting to open an InDesign document that a client sent me and I keep getting missing plug in errors. I am using Indesign Cs5 on a Mac with Os 10.6. I have run into this issue before when trying to open files made on older versions of InDesign so I attempted to open the file with both Cs3 and Cs4 without any luck. Is there some where I can down load the missing plugins so I can view this file? If it helps at all the error I recieve is "Missing Plug-ins Shared Content.InDesign plugin", I scenerly hope I dont have to update to cs5.5 after only having cs5 for a year.

    It’s a CS5.5 file.
If you upgrade to CS5.5 now you’ll get CS6 for free.

  • Cs2 on xp, missing plug-ins

I created an indesign document a few days ago, I opened the application, and tried to open the file, I get an error message, cannot open file, missing plug-ins: lilo.apln and cellstyles.rpun, if you click ok, then a then it says, cannot open file, and it lists .prun files, Cannot open filexx.indd. Please upgrade your plug-ins to their latest versions, or upgrade to the latest version of adobe inDesign.
I did not add in these plug ins, I went to adobe updates and it said no updates available.
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
I only have cs3 for flash, dreamweaver and photoshop.I only have Cs2 for inDesign.
I was really surprised this happend, as when I created the document I had no errors during production. But when I tried to open it the next day to update the file, I had the error message. I had to use MS publisher to get this newsletter out to a client in a hurry.

  • HELP! - Missing Plug-ins

I'm attempting to open an InDesign CS2 file and I get a message saying "Missing Plug-ins", "The document "blah blah blah" uses one or more plug-ins which are not currently available on your system."... and then it lists "LILO.InDesignPlugin" and "CellStyles.rpln.InDesignPlugIn". What does this mean? I've never had to deal with plug-ins before so know little about them. It is urgent that I get this file opened. Please help! Thank you.

That's the error you get trying to open a CS3 file in CS2. Contact the
sender and have it saved back via INX export but be aware that any new
features in CS3 will be lost or badly mangled and text will likely reflow.

Hello. I am having trouble with adobe reader but only certain files. When I first signed up for school in may Adobe Flash Player and Adobe Reader were required and when I did the check plug-ins system check, both were installed and running just fine. I'm not having troubl with all adobe reader files. I'm an online student and my e-books are opening and displaying just fine. Also my pdf documents saved on my computer are opening just fine. When I try to view a websites brochure, a websites sale paper, or maybe open up an article, the page pops up but the image won't display. It keeps saying "missing Plug-ins". I have a MAC 10.6.8. running on Safari and I have downloaded Adobe Reader 10.1.0. I need to be able to open up articles because I'm doing a homework assignment that requires one. If u can help in any way, please do.

I've tried all the fixes listed in the discussions about missing plug-ins in Mail.  None of them worked.  I can see attachements in the emails, but when I forward them, the missing plug-in shows up in place of the attachments on the forwarded email.  I'm running the latest OS 10.7 on my Mac Pro and I just downloaded the latest Java app.  HELP!!

  • Mail missing plug-ins

OK, strange one here.  I have several clients (Lion and Mountain Lion) that get the Missing Plug-ins in certain emails using Mail.app.  They are all using Exchange 2010 server, some setup w/ IMAP, others as Exchange server.  I know about the java trick and other things that 'correct' the Missing plugin thing... but this is something entirely different.  I spent a few hours on the phone w/ Rackspace technical support trying to figure out the issue.  As far as i know, all the missing attachments are images (jpg and png is what i've seen so far).  Sometimes these attachments show up on an iOS device, sometime not - just like OSX version.  If you look at the message details in OWA you can see the blocked attachments are replaced w/ https://email. ourcompany.com/owa/UrlBlockedError.aspx path, instead of the usual as shown by the other attachments.  It seems as though Microsoft (in their infinite wisdom) is blocking these attachments for some reason.    BUT... with Outlook 2010 on a Windows PC these attachments come through just fine.  Even Outlook 2011 for Mac is a little better in that it may show one or two other attachments, but Mail.app or Outlook.app neither show ALL of the attachments -- but a plain, vanilla, Outlook for Windows shows them all no problem.
Does anybody have anything to add to this?  The email ISP couldn't come up w/ any block list that can be changed, any other ideas, etc... I'm thinking I am going to have to call Microsoft which I really don't want to do.  It takes an hour to bring somebody up to speed as to where i am...
Let me know, TIA. -- PetieG

This seems to be a known issue affecting a few people. I don't know what causes it. For a possible fix, see this thread:
