InDesign Server CC Mac problem licensing

Hi all.
I'm trying to activate InDesign Server CC but I am having a lot of problems.
- MacOSX 1.8.5 Server.
- Adobeindesignserver 9.2 Debug 1_23
First of all, the package contains just a folder, not an installer.
So I suppose all I have to do is copy the content in the Applications folder.
In the folder I found tree different executable files:
InDesignServer.app
InDesignServer.command
indesignserverconsole.command
I tried to activate InDesign with all the methods listed here:
http://helpx.adobe.com/it/indesign/release-note/indesign-server-cc-release-notes.html#Requ isiti%20minimi%20di%20sistema
adobe_prtk --tool=StartTrial --leid=InDesignServer-CS7-Mac-GM
adobe_prtk --tool=Serialize --leid=InDesignServer-CS7-Mac-GM --serial=<MySerial> --adobeid=<MyID>
adobe_prtk --tool=Type1Exception --accept --serial=<MySerial>--responsecode=<MyResponseCode> --leid=InDesignServer-CS7-Mac-GM
All attempts ended with: Return Code = 0 but InDesign still do not start.
The error is always the same:
"Adobe InDesign Server is not properly licensed and will now quit"
On this server is installed also IDServer CS5, can it be a problem?
I hope someone can halp me.
thanks Ivan.

Hi Karoly
So far no answer.
The only way I found is to download a new installer from the official site and install it in a brand new system.
In a clean system and with a true installer, not just a folder all works fine.
Unfortunately it's just a workaround, not a real solution.

  • Problem with InDesign Server CS5

    Hi all,
    when i run from prompt (of Windows Server 2008) the command "InDesign Server.com -port 18383" the system respond "Adobe InDesign Server is not properly licensed and will now quit", until some days ago the InDesign Server work perfecly. What i do for that issue ? I try to run cthe command "InDesignServer.com -serilanumber xxxxxx" and the command "InDesignServer.exe -serilanumber xxxxxxx" but doesn't work (the system says me the same think "Adobe InDesign Server is not properly licensed etc etc"). What can i do ?
    Thank you in advance

    If you are using CS6, you need to link the installation to an Adobe ID. The simplest way to do that is input the Adobe ID while you install, but you can use the tools (I forget off hand what they are called) to do that afterwards.

  • InDesign Server :line 13: 2753 Bus error "$installed_name" "$@"

    [InDesign Server CS4, CS5, CS5.5    line 13: 2753 Bus error "$installed_name" "$@"]
    We support a few clients on various version of InDesign Server and all have exactly the same issue upon having the application produce PDF files...   line 13: 2753 Bus error "$installed_name" "$@"   which causes InDesign Server to unexpectedly quit.
    Searching these forums we have found CS3 instances of this error message pointing to fonts not loaded on the machine running InDesign Server, but no "this is what we did to fix it" solution has been found.
    Our customers are running beefed up MacPros or Mac Minis with Mac OS 10.6 (non server) and OS 10.7 (server), 8GB - 16GB RAM, 1TB HD
    For font management we have the following being utilized:
    - Universal type server
      - if no plugin exists for InD Server, not sure how much this app will help manage fonts
    - Suitcase Server
    - if no plugin exists for InD Server, not sure how much this app will help manage fonts
    - Loading all fonts into:   /Users/*/Library/Fonts
      - seems to be the best option for font management on a system running InDesign Server
    Our company develops a plugin for InDesign Server and allows regular InDesign to produce the pdfs in a similar manner.  Running our plugin under regular InDesign we DO NOT have these issues of BUS errors, yet as soon as any of our customers utilize InDesign Server, they all immediately see BUS errors.
    We have written a shell script that quits (normally) indesign server, and relaunches it (if quit abnormally) so that we have some semblance of an "always on" InDesign Server application, but this is merely a band-aid fix for a bigger problem.
    We are pointing the finger at Adobe InDesign Server being the problem here, yet our customers do not care where the blame is placed, we are seeing a solution for them in any fashion that presents a permanent solution.

    Hi Julio,
    I am having the same exact problem. We are evaluating the InDesign server and will consider buying it only if it performs reasonably stable. This "installed_name" "$@" is baffling us.

  • Indesign Server CC Trial issues

    The installation instructions states
    You need to download Adobe Provisioning Toolkit Enterprise Edition (APTEE) for using the InDesign Server trial
    The download link only refers to CS6, CS5.5 & CS5 not CC
    Since there is no Adobe Provisioning Toolkit Enterprise Edition for CC I decided just to install and run the trial.
    However I got the Adobe InDesign Server is not properly licensed and will now quit message.
    According to the CC Release notes it says:
    InDesign CC Server needs to be activated before it can be used. If the computer is online, activation is done automatically when you install. You need to provide your Adobe ID, and serial number when prompted by the installer. Unless the software is activated, you'll see an error, "Adobe InDesign Server’ is not properly licensed and will now quit."
    My computer was online yet the it seems it didn't perfom the automatic activation as it suggests. When I entered my AdobeID credentials I did not get any errors saying it could not connect online.
    So I had to do something and decided to use the Adobe Provisioning Toolkit Enterprise Edition for CS6.
    This allowed me to get pass the licensing issue.
    The next problem was I was getting DDE Server Window:InDesignServer.exe System Error popup. Telling me The program can't start because svml_dispmd.dll is missing from your computer.

    So after browsing the net to see where I can get this missing svml_dispmd.dll I found this post http://software.intel.com/en-us/forums/topic/285859
    and decided to install what it suggested.
    I still got the missing dll error so I copied it from C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Intel\Shared Libraries\redist\intel64\compiler into C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CC Server x64
    Now it just sits there and hangs at the same spot

    What the heck is going on here?
    I have installed Indesign Server CC on another machine and although I did not get the missing dll problem it still however hangs at the same spot mentioned above.
    Could someone from Adobe please help. The already I'm losing days with this trial and I will have little days left to test this product.

    I'm having same trial activation difficulties. How have you activated it with APTEE? What leid did you use?
    Thank you.

  • InDesign Server CC2014 Trial issue

    Hi,
    I cannot start our InDesign Server CC 2014 (Windows Server 2008). I have installed the software and was logged with our Adobe ID and installation was successful without any error message. The installation manual states that “InDesign CC Server needs to be activated before it can be used. If the computer is online, activation is done automatically when you install.” However, I got an error message when I tried to launch InDesign Server: “Adobe InDesign Server is not properly licensed and will now quit”.
    Since  I had previously installed InDesign Server CS6 on another machine, I tried to use the APTEE to start the trial. I used the CS6 one because I did not find any version for CC 2014, I finally got the message:
    StartTrial Successful
    Return Code = 0
    but when I tried to launch again InDesign Server, I always get the Adobe InDesign Server is not properly licensed and will now quit message.
    I also read this thread but did not find the solution Indesign Server CC Trial issues
    Thanks for help!

  • Installing Indesign CC Server on Mac fails

    Hi,
    I've multiple Adobe IDs:
    Adobe-ID1 for Company 1/AEDP
    Adobe-ID2 for Company 2/CC Membership
    I've downloaded Indesign CC Server from AEDP (Adobe-ID1) and tried to install using the Serial number from AEDP and the Adobe-ID1.
    In the options dialog of the install, I can't select the ID Server components and it has a warning icon with the title "Required components are disabled".
    I tried to use the second login (Adobe-ID2) or install it as a trial version, but I get the same behaviour.
    The installation failed on two Macs (10.9.5 and 10.10.2) with CC and the name of the installer file is: InDesignServer_9_LS18.dmg. Is anything missing and has to be installed upfront?
    Any recommendations or tips to solve the issue?
    Patrick

    True, I mixed the commands as I wasn't aware that a version 10 of Indesign CC Server exists. I used the latest of AEDP.
    OK, I also executed the version 9 (CC) commands and tried to install the Indesign CC Server. The installation failed with the same error!
    Maybe I have for access to the latest of Indesign Server (version 10 / CC 2014)?
    PS: Installation of Indesign Server (CC / version 9) with commands of version 10 (CC 2014) worked without problems.

  • Indesign CS6 on MACs with OS 10.8 are having problems with links

    Hi
    Indesign CS6 on MACs with 10.8 are having problems with links. All links to other files have to be updated when opening a file although definitely nothing has changed to the linked files.
    We can rule out our company's networking and the system hosting the files (HELIOS software on RedHat Linux VM). This happens with newly created Indesign files and with old ones. E.g. we create a file on Tuesday, save it and open it again on the exact same MAC on Wednesday and all links to other fiels (.indd, .png, .bmp, etc. nothing uncommon) have to be updated as they all show the yellow triangle + black exclamation mark symbol next to them. Has anybody else experienced this, What can we do? We have tried absolutley everything and updated all software from MAC OS to CS6 itself but nothing seems to help on the long run.
    Any further information required?
    M. Miller

    Thanks for your quick reply.
    We actually noticed that there also seems to be something wrong with the timestamps:
    If we open the infos via the MAC finder to a file (.psd e.g.) which is linked in one of our indesign files, it states a certain date of creation.
    If we then switch to the Indesign file we just opened in which we had to update all links and open the infos to exactly the same file we looked at in the finder, a different date of creation is stated. So there also seems to be a mistake here (hope it's clear what I mean).
    We are ruling out our network as the error cannot be "re-enacted". We have created numerous test files in Indesign (simple white page containing one link to a .psd file which is also used in one of the supposedly defective files) and have opened them on various MACs with various OS versions over the past days/weeks but unfortunately the files open without any notifications or errors.
    Just as a background: a few months ago, the problem seemed to occur between MACs with differing OS, 10.6 - 10.8 at first. A file which was created on a 10.6 MAC could not be opened without updating all links on a 10.8 MAC. That is why we updated everything to 10.8. The error did not occur for about 2-3 weeks but then reoccured again.?
    Have you heard anything similar?

  • Printing problems with InDesign CS3 with Mac OS 10.6.3

    I am not new to InDesign... I have CS3... but I am brand new to Mac Snow Leopard (OS 10.6.3).  Although I can open CS3 and use the application, I cannot print with it.  None of my other applications has printing issues... just CS3.  Any suggestions?
    Richard

    Hi again Peter
    It is version 5.0.4.  I updated it when I newly installed it a week ago in my new computer, and then again updated it just yesterday.
    I might mention that before I got my new computer, I was running Mac OS 4.11, and was using InDesign 3.0.  I had bought InDesign CS3 about a year ago, but hadn't gotten around to using it since version 3.0 had been working fine, and I was used to it.  Then, when I got my new computer, I decided it was time to use the newer version.  However, while using InDesign 3.0 with the old Mac OS 4.11, a printing problem popped up there, too, a few months ago... and it also involved printing problems with Adobe Reader.  I contacted Adobe, and they sent me a patch which fixed it.  I will contact Adobe again if need be, although I thought I'd start here first to see if it was a common enough problem that someone might be able to provide a free and routine answer.

    I neglected to ask what version of indesign CS3 you are using. I also
    notice that Mac OSX 10.6.4 has just been released. It actually
    addresses some CS3-specific issues, though they seem to be related to
    launching the apps, not printing. It may be worth trying to update,
    nonetheless.

  • Problem with InDesign server - Server slows down fast

    My javascript code iterates the pages of the InDesign Document and searches for the text frames with some special character style.
    I found some samples from Jongware :
    sourcelist = app.activeDocument.findText()
    and
    sourcelist = app.activeDocument.pages[p].textFrames[f].findText();
    if I use the first variant the memory goes to ca. 1.2GB (the server has 4GB), the search is completed in ca. 2 minutes but InDesign Server works incredibly slow.
    The problem is I have to find a page for each text found.
    If I use second variant the memory goes high slowly and so each iteration needs more time.
    After 300th page InDesign Server needs up to 30-40 seconds to process the page.
    (First pages are processed 3-4 per second)
    I tried several possible implementations, like
    for each page
         var actualPage = pages[i]
         for each frame
              var actualFrame = frames[i]
              var sourceList = searchText(actualFrame)
                   parseText(sourceList)
    or
    var actualPage=null,  actualFrame = null, sourceList = null;
    for each page
         actualPage = pages[i]
         for each frame
              actualFrame = frames[i]
              sourceList = searchText(actualFrame)
                   parseText(sourceList)
    I've tried functions with local variables. Nothing changes.
    Processing of the first 50 pages is really fast, but the test document has 630 pages.
    And I have no ideas how to make InDesign continue to work fast.
    Have someone had similar problem? Any ideas?

    To clarify my comment on pages:
    JavaScript objects referencing a native InDesign object have an internal representation for their "address" in the DOM, a textual form (similar to an XPath) is available via toSpecifier(). The specifier starts at the document and then follows collections (e.g. pages) and collection accessors (e.g. itemByID()) to finally reach the same object.
    You can see that the specifier of the document before and after the close/open roundtrip changes in CS5 or later (different document ID), where CS4 used a different specifier form (itemByName() for the document) . The renumbered document ID renders previous references to the same page invalid - see the isValid property. If you want to revive such a stale object reference across close/open, you can remember the page ID and use your reopened document's myDoc.pages.itemByID() method to get to the same object.
    Regarding your other performance problem: print the output of the ExtendScript helper function "$.summary()" before and after the code sequence in question, or compute the differences. You may want to precede that with two explicit calls for the garbage collection "$.gc()" - yes, double invokation seems to be more thorough. Sometimes you find memory leaks that way, for example caused by the javascript "closure" design pattern (all those "Workspace" objects).

  • Getting the default font - possible? (default fonts problem in InDesign Server CS5)

    Is there a way to decide whether a font is used as "default font" for a document?
    Or a simple way to see whether a font is used at all?
    The actual problem is that InDesign server (CS5 ver. 7.0.3.533) returns the "default font" along with all other used fonts, when looping through the document.fonts collection. This becomes a problem when the default font is never used in the document, and is also not present. Then the (name of) the default font may also become meddled by a style that does not even exist for that very font.
    This is indicated as a problem in our application... as a missing font, just as the call to InDesign server reports back. But the font (with that style) doesn't even exist.
    Running the same script on an desktop InDesign CS5 (ver 7.0.4) the unused default font of the same document is not returned at all.
    Thanks,
    Andreas

    To get the default font, just check:
    app.activeDocument.textDefaults.appliedFont
    Obviously this didn't solve the problem, since InDesign server has made up a font name that is reported as missing... and it's not equal to the default font. So there is some lack of logic in my previous description.
