InDesign stops working correctly on some files. Flashing UI and deselecting objects.

I am using the latest version of InDesign (10.0.0.70) on the latest version of Mac OSX (10.9.4).
Recently I have been having an issue with InDesign which only affects some documents. The interface sort of flashes every few seconds sort of like the application frame is being deselected and then selected again. Whenever this happens (roughly every 4 seconds) anything I was doing is deselected, so if I'm dragging an object it snaps back to where it was and is deselected or if I'm entering a value into an input box the input box is deselected and reset. I think you can imagine how this can make InDesign fairly unusable.
The problem doesn't occur on all documents, but I've been unable to find any link between the files it does do it on. Sometimes it will occur on a completely blank document that has just been created and other times it will be fine. On files that it does occur on it sticks and consistently happens to those files, if I copy the contents of the file onto a new document that was unaffected the problem does go away temporarily, but will occur again after a little while or the next time I open the file. Saving the file as an IDML does not make the problem go away it carries over to it. Deleting every element and all pages on an affected file doesn't fix the problem either.
The problem does only seem to occur on one file at a time, if I have multiple files open only one of them will be affected, if I open two affected files at the same time one of them will be fixed and the problem will go away while the file is active and then return when I switch back to the other one. If I then close one of the files the problem will re affect the file.
Copying an affected file off of the server I work off and opening it from my desktop does not change anything.
I work in a studio with five other Macs all running the same version of OSX and InDesign none of the others are affected by this at all. My Mac is only a few months old and the newest of the lot, I don't have anything different installed on it from the others.
I have tried completely removing InDesign and Creative Cloud and doing a fresh install which did not solve the problem.

Sounds like you have an Extensis font manager. Turn off the auto-activation plugin and complain to Extensis.

    I had this exact same problem.  I found this fix and it worked for me. 
    Step 1:
    Browse to C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support and copy the filen named QTMovieWin.dll. 
    Step 2:
    Browse and past that file into C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes.
    Hope this helps you.  I wish I could remember where I saw this originally so I could thank them.

    I can't open my Itunes program in my laptop computer with windows 8. the message is "Itunes has stopped working. I reboot  the machine, Uninstall and re install the  Itune program, stilll the same message pops up.

    The first thing to try is System Restore to take you back to a point in time when it did work. If that is not successful, create a new user on the computer. log in with that and see if ID will start. This will tell us if the problem is in the system/program or the user account.
    If it works in a new user account, see Replace Your Preferences and in addition to replacing the prefs, empty the InDesign Recovery folder that will be in the same location and the InDesign SavedData file.

  • Itunes seems to be unable to locate original file to play songs. Songs are in the itunes media file and playable direct from file. Preferences/advance file location is correct. Some files are playing and others aren't with no obvious pattern.

    I have solved the problem. i think when I moved the media file back out of public to my account, I put it back into the wrong place and ended up with a media file inside a media file, inside another media file!! So I moved it again and fixed!! Now I just need to work out why i can't share with another account user of same computor.

    It sounds like you are getting an error from iTunes when you launch it. I would try the troubleshooting in this article named:

    Start with troubleshooting for 3rd party plug ins section, then the rest of the article if needed:
    Start iTunes in Safe Mode
    Open iTunes in Safe Mode to isolate any interference from plug-ins or scripts not manufactured by Apple.
    Hold down Shift–Control while opening iTunes. You should see a dialog that says "iTunes is running in safe mode" before iTunes finishes starting up.
    Click Continue.
    See if the issue you're experiencing persists in Safe Mode.
    If you have the same issue while iTunes is in Safe Mode, proceed to the "Create a new user account" section. If you don't experience the same issue, follow these steps to remove third-party plug-ins.

    Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
    This works for some users. Not sure why.
    Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.

    I recently purchased a new desktop computer and installed Adobe CS3 Master Edition on it and I get the following error:

    Out of the entire suite of tools only Photoshop will not launch. The weird thing is i also had the same Adobe programs installed on my laptop and I have not made any installation updates to that machine and i am getting the same error. I have always installed the same software on my two home machines with no problem until now. Any help is appreciated.

    Whentrying to uninstall iTunes (the first program that must be uninstalled per the instructions) I get a message:  A network error occurred while attempting to read file: C:\Windows|Installer|iTunes.msi. I can't even uninstall iTunes?
    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page).

    After clicking one of the circled links, you should be taken to another page, and after a few seconds you should see a download dialog appear for the msicuu2.exe file. Here's a screenshot of what it looks like for me in Firefox:
    Choose to Save the file. If the dialog box does not appear for you, click the link on the page that says "CLICK HERE IF IT DOES NOT". Here's a screenshot of the page with the relevant link circled:
    When the dialog appears, choose to save the file.
    (2) Go to the Downloads area for your Web browser. Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility.     Without the actual crash logs nobody can say, but chances are that your graphics hardware is to blame, so update the driver...

                 I'm not sure I have the answers to all your questions. Although I use Photoshop and Lightroom extensively, I'm not a 'techy'.

    If I open Photoshop cc14 without opening any image, I still get an error message that reads: 'Photoshop has encountered a problem with the display driver, and has temporarily disabled enhancements which use the graphics hardware'.
    There is also a link to the Adobe help site, but I'm not sure exactly what I should be downloading from there.
