InDesign Table Cell Strokes not appearing perfect

How do you get row and column strokes in a table to appear perfectly joined? When I choose "Column Strokes in Front" (Under Table Setup) i still see a tiny row stroke, and vice versus.. it's really visible in the PDF almost can't see it in InDesign though you can a little...

Thank you, although I doubled and even tripled checked the blue highlighted cell option and they visibly appear to be selected and in blue color, but when printed not the case.
This document is a product catalog, 50 plus pages and I have about 15 of those pages not showing the stroked edge. So that is why I thought, perhaps something was blocking the edge and arranged the table to the front with hopes of a difference, but that too failed. I am turning grey by the minute.

  • Table cell Borders not appearing

    I am creating a basic table style. I want a header row that
    has shading, with headings in bold and centered. When I create a
    table style, this is no problem to set up.
    I want the rows underneath the header to all have plain black
    1-pixel vertical and horizontal borders. When I edit the table
    style, it lets me have vertical or horizontal borders, but not
    both. If I select to have horizontal, it puts them in. Then if I
    select vertical, it removes the horizontal. When I click on Whole
    Table, it doesn't change. It doesn't apply the borders to all the
    cells.
    I appreciate any help anyone can give me!
    Thanks,
    Kathleen Baine

    This process is not intuitive.
    Try this to understand how it works.
    With Apply formatting to: Whole Table, change the border
    colour to red.
    You will see just the border for the Whole Table change, that
    is the outer border.
    Without exiting the editor, change "Apply formatting to" even
    rows. Note the colour picker will change and so will the border
    size in the Border controls. Change that to what you red and 1px as
    well, now do that for for odd rows.
    I think by now you will be getting the hang of it.
    Post back if still in trouble.

  • Lines in shaded table cells do not render properly in pdf created in Word 2010

    When creating a pdf with shaded table cells using MS Word 2010; the black lines in the shaded table cells do not show up when looking at the page at a fit page view (anything under  around 60%). They print, they are there when I zoom in, but will not show up if you zoom out.
    I read a forum post in Adobe here which gave some really logical suggestions, but they didn't seem to work for everyone or the level of effort was not what i can put into it. I also tried some of those and variations of those; but they didn't seem to work.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/305508
    Did anyone come up with a solution? Some people were saying it's a bug in pdf software, if that is the case, has anyone heard of a resolution?
    I'm using Windows 7 and word 2010 btw, to create the pdf.
    Thanks!!

    Just as a test, have you tried the MS plugin for PDF creation? I have found with other versions of WORD and Acrobat that PDF Maker and the MS plugin can both fill in dots and dashes on vector graphics (basically what the border is) and yet it comes out correctly with printing to the Adobe PDF printer. Unfortunately I do not have a solution. In my case, it seemed to be related to the vector graphic itself (I could import it to InkScape or other vector graphic tool and save to EMF and it then worked fine. It may be something that MS themselves have messed up in OFFICE 2013. Good luck.

  • Cell border not appearing in Adobe forms

    Hi,
    We Placed a button in internal table cell and itu2019s property is set to invisible.
    This button is set to visible based on value of other column value in the same row of table.
    But border for the cell is not coming when button is invisible.
    Note: the button size is equal to cell size and so when we make the button invisible ,the cell border itself is not appearing as the whole cell is invsible.
    How make the cell border visible even the button in that cell is invisible.
    Please put your suggestions in this regard.

  • Want Flash movie to scale with table cell. NOT WORKING!

    Greetings;
    I have authored a Flash movie and it is working fine. When I
    use the html page output by Flash it scales fine but when I cut and
    paste this code into a table cell the movie will not scale (in
    Firefox) and not showup at all in IE 7.
    Help appreciated. Here is the html page output by Flash:
    http://www.howardbakerphotography.com/gallery/bakerGallery.html
    (Scaling fine)
    Here is the content placed inside a simple table cell:
    http://www.howardbakerphotography.com/gallery/index3.php
    (Only shows up small not scaling)
    Help appreciated.

    Found the solution myself! It appears the problem was in the
    document type I was declaring:
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0
    Transitional//EN" "
    http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="
    http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
    *The above was preventing my Flash from scaling when placed
    in a table cell. When I changed it to:
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01
    Transitional//EN" >
    It worked fine.
    I'd be curious to know a little more about this problem if
    anyone else has some insight ...
    Is this document type I've gone to now an older one and going
    to eventually go away?

  • New columns in the table control do not appear

    Hi,
    We have a requirement to add two fields(columns) in a table control  for a transaction upon clicking Create button and those two fields should be editable. We have added the two fields in the table control. But, they do not appear in the transaction ( If I delete an existing column, then I am able see the new column).  Have checked everywhere, but not sure if I am missing something here. There is no hide statement used.
    Appreciate help on this.
    Thanks,
    Pavan

    Hi Pavan,
    What I understood is you are adding fields to the table control dynamically.\
    For that you have to use field-symbols to add fields to the work area dynamically.
    ( If this is not your actual requirement share your code with me I will try to solve it. )

  • InDesign CS3 cell stroke function is &*^%up

    After working with table cells and application of borders for, oh, at least 2.5 hours, I have found that if you want a stroke on the bottom of a cell, then, apply it to the TOP; and if you want a stroke on left side of cell, apply it to the RIGHT side, and so on. There is no way to choose the table and apply a horizontal or vertical stroke between the cells, I have to apply the style to every cell. Glad I'm working on a table with only 20 cells.
    Am I the only one that is visited by this border demon?
    Thanks. karen.

    Let me rephrase that. If you select a block of cells, that proxy represents the entire block. If the bottom stroke is active in the proxy, the settings you apply will be applied along the bottom of the block. If one or both of the of the center strokes are active, the settings you apply will be applied to the horizontal or vertical divisions between the cells in the block. To set different paramenters for one group of strokes, deselect the others in the proxy and they won't be affected.

  • 4EA3 external table default directory not appearing

    In using SQL Developer 4 Early Adopter version 3, I was attempting to set up an External Table. I created the appropriate directory object, but it did not appear in the pulldown for default directory in the create External Table dialogue.  I was able to proceed using SQL Developer 3.2. Once I created the table in SQL Developer 3.2, I was able to edit it in SQL Developer 4.

    There is a bug here in that the Dialog for the default directory should not include default directory schema (which for me defaults to the connected one).  As a workaround if you change that default directory schema to SYS in the drop down then you should see your directory.

  • Setting table/cell strokes to overprint

    is there a way to ad line in following script to set cell strokes in overprint?
    this script has been very useful to me (thanks to Jongware (http://forums.adobe.com/message/2818852#2818852)) but it's missing the overprint feature for strokes.
    table = app.selection[0];
    if (table.hasOwnProperty("baseline"))
    table = table.parent;
    if (table instanceof Cell)
    table = table.parent;
    if (table instanceof Column)
    table = table.parent;
    if (table instanceof Row)
    table = table.parent;
    if (!(table instanceof Table))
    alert ("Echt niet in een tabel!");
    exit(0);
    color = table.cells[0].characters[0].fillColor;
    black = app.activeDocument.swatches.item("Black");
    table.cells.everyItem().properties = {
    topEdgeStrokeColor:color,
    bottomEdgeStrokeColor:color,
    leftEdgeStrokeColor:color,
    rightEdgeStrokeColor:color };
    for (aCell=0; aCell<table.cells.length; aCell++)
    if (table.cells[aCell].fillTint == 50)
      table.cells[aCell].fillColor = color;
    tia, Pascal

    Hey!
    It's easy to solve your problem.
    In red is what you have to add...
    table =  app.selection[0];
    if  (table.hasOwnProperty("baseline"))
    table = table.parent;
    if  (table instanceof  Cell)
    table = table.parent;
    if  (table instanceof  Column)
    table = table.parent;
    if (table instanceof Row)
    table = table.parent;
    if (!(table instanceof  Table))
    alert ("Echt niet in een tabel!");
    exit(0);
    color =  table.cells[0].characters[0].fillColor;
    black =  app.activeDocument.swatches.item("Black");
    table.cells.everyItem().properties  = {
    topEdgeStrokeColor:color,
    bottomEdgeStrokeColor:color,
    leftEdgeStrokeColor:color,
    rightEdgeStrokeColor:color,
    bottomEdgeStrokeOverprint:true,
    leftEdgeStrokeOverprint:true,
    rightEdgeStrokeOverprint:true,
    topEdgeStrokeOverprint:true};
    for (aCell=0;  aCell<table.cells.length; aCell++)
    if (table.cells[aCell].fillTint == 50)
       table.cells[aCell].fillColor = color;

  • ID5: Table cell strokes &!^@)ed up

    I'm trying to add a stroke to the top and bottom of a selection of cells. Sometime it works, sometimes it adds the stroke too all sides of all cells in the selection. What's going on? Even it I select just the bottom row and try to stroke the bottom I get tops and sides stroked, too. Also, the wrongly added stroke is the wrong weight (1 pt, instead of 0.5 pt). WTF x 2!
    I've tried using the Control panel and the Stroke panel. Makes no difference.
    This is extremely frustrating. What should be a simple process is taking a very long time to get right, adding strokes that shouldn't be added, then selectively removing them from individual cells.

    > Do you have a 1 pt. Table Border applied?
    No. No table border applied until I went in to selectively apply the strokes to selected cells. The Table Style I started from has no strokes.
    >If you turn off all Table Strokes, and then turn off all Cell Strokes, then apply the .5 pt. stroke to the desired cells, does that work?
    No. That's basically what I'm doing. I select a range of cells that have no strokes, neither between the cells nor around any side on the selection.
    >And when you apply the cell stroke, you only need to have the middle horizontal cell selected.
    No. I want to stroke the top of the selection and the bottom of the selection, so the middle segments are un-highlighted.

  • Longtime bug: Table cell strokes disappearing

    I was hoping this would be fixed in CS5, but apparently not.
    I want a very simple table with just horizontal rules above each line. I want to set this as a cell style, so I can apply and unapply for maximum flexibility.
    So this is what I want:
    row 1, col 1     row 1, col 2   row 1, col 3
    row 2, col 1     row 2, col 2   row 2, col 3
    row 3, col 1     row 3, col 2   row 3, col 3
    Here's what I do:
    - I create a new table.
    - I remove the ugly borders that are applied by default, and I save that as a new table style (because, apparently, I'm unable to overwrite the default style).
    - I select the cells from the top row (or all rows or just one) and apply a top border of, say, 1 point. I save that as a cell style called "ruled."
    - Problem is, when I try to apply this to a specific cell or row, the cell underneath loses its stroke. So if I apply the "ruled" style to row 2, col 2, the table looks like this:
    row 1, col 1     row 1, col 2   row 1, col 3
    row 2, col 1     row 2, col 2   row 2, col 3
    row 3, col 1     row 3, col 2   row 3, col 3
    When I check the cell style of row 3/col 2, the Cell Styles palette claims that it's the "ruled" style with no custom formatting. But the border says 0. When I double-check the cell style options, sure enough, it's supposed to be 1 point. So if I apply the style, it gets applied -- but, then, the cell beneath *that* one (if there is one) loses its stroke!
    So every time I have to make a change, I have to apply the strokes all the way down the table.
    Of course, this completely negates the advantage of having a style. If I have to manually apply and re-apply formatting for every cell, there is no point to having a style.
    If I am doing this wrong, I'd love to know a solution. I've grappled with this for years, and I've always ended up abandoning styles, which should be one of the most powerful features.
    As a corollary, I've occasionally tried alternating row strokes (using every line) for the table style, from which I've had mixed results. This would work in some cases, but I also sometimes want tables with only some columns ruled, like so:
    row 1, col 1     row 1, col 2   row 1, col 3
    row 2, col 1     row 2, col 2   row 2, col 3
    row 3, col 1     row 3, col 2   row 3, col 3
    I suppose I could override the cells in the non-ruled column with cell styles without rules, given that the cell styles function seems awfully good at making strokes disappear ...
    Thanks for any help!

    Yes, yes, yes! Thank you!
    So I need to select top AND middle when applying the stroke, then redefine style if necessary. I guess, due to interface confusion, I was ignoring the middle stroke, thinking it was only for full table-level styling.
    In the style options dialog for the Cell Styles, you don't even see a middle stroke. You only get middle strokes if you select the cell and use the stroke palette for local formatting.

  • Table cell boarders re-appearing

    Hi -
    Has anyone run into an issue where they remove the boarder around a cell only to have it re-appear the next time you open the layout template? If so, did you find a way around it?
    Thanks
    - CC

    I was thinking that it could have to do with nesting tables in Word, but I'm not 100% sure on that. I created a new template and the issue isn't occurring anymore. I don't really care for the randomness of issue though.

  • If the table cell can not receive a virtual key?

    Hello,
    Want to execuate a "copy/paste" function in the table control. I hope type the "Ctrl+c" to copy  text in a cell, but nothing to do with the "ctrl" key pressed.
    David

    Table can receive and trap Ctrl + someCharacter in keypress event: you can discriminate the keys pressed with this code:
    if (event == EVENT_KEYPRESS) {
    if (GetKeyPressEventModifiers (eventData2) == VAL_MENUKEY_MODIFIER) {
    sprintf (msg, "Ctrl + %c pressed.", GetKeyPressEventCharacter (eventData2));
    MessagePopup ("Notice", msg);
    else if (event == EVENT_VAL_CHANGED)
    MessagePopup ("Notice", "Cell value changed.");
    Unfortunately, if the table is in edit mode Ctrl-C and Ctrl+V appear to be trapped by the system at low level and not to be passed to the control callback. Within CVI you can trap EVENT_VAL_CHANGED event, but I see no way to discriminate between a user type-in and a paste operation except for trapping whether a previous keypress event was received, which can be a troubled way to go. I can't see a way to trap Ctrl+C.
    There may be a method to get those event using some windows API but I don't know it.
    Proud to use LW/CVI from 3.1 on.

  • Table cell height not correct

    I have a table with 21 rows. Every other row is used as a separator between the rows with content. These separator rows don't have anything in them and their height is set to 1 in the properties inspector. I'm assuming these heights and widths are in pixels, however, these rows don't appear to be 1px in design view nor on a live web page.They are more like 15px.
    How can I make these rows 1px in height?

    That site has badly malformed code.
    http://tinyurl.com/36z7sc8
    I'm guessing it's cobbled togather from various bits and pieces including the ChronoForm code?
    Regarding the cell heights, the code of a typical cell is:
    <td width="95" height="1"> </td>
    The code between the <td> tags  (known as a non-breaking space) is a space character (pressing the spacebar on your keyboard generates this code in the HTML).
    Removing the space from the code for each <td> will cause your cells to collapse. You may need to prop them open with a 1px high GIF as Murray suggested.

  • Table cell borders not always visible

    With Apply formatting to: Whole Table, change the border
