Indesign und SWF export

Ist es möglich einen Preloader in Indesign anzupassen ohne Flash zu benötigen?
Is it possible to make a preloader in Indesign without using Flash?

I've never exported to SWF, but isn't a placed PDF treated as an image? I.e. any text in it won't get the same treatment as real InDesign text.

  • Can I make an InDesign CS4 .swf export scale depending on the open size of a browser?

    Hi there.  I would like to make my inDesign CS4 .swf file able to scale in accordance with the open size of a browser.  When I have used Flash previously changing the size of the document to 100% achieved this effect.  However, I'm not having much luck with this approach with my inDesign CS4 .swf export.  I'm loathe to export it as an XML file for Flash as I want to keep my fancy page turns. Any help would be very much appreciated.  I'm not very fluent in Flash-speak so I'd also appreciate it if anyone offering a solution could t-a-l-k r-e-a-l s-l-o-w.

    This is quite old thread, I don´t have those source codes anymore... besides many people still uses monitors with width of 1024, 1219px wide magazine would clip in those monitors, so I don´t suggest to use it without shrinking....
    Anyway, if you want to improve positioning of your SWF, you have at least two way to do it
    1) Go to free http://www.bobbyvandersluis.com/swfobject/generator/index.html and create a new html-wrapper for your project
    2) If that´s not enough or you want some extra features like zoom, print or search, go to http://www.edocker.com and download a free trial of eDocker.
    ps. eDocker is in Adobe MAX Awards final, if you want to help it to win.... go to

  • Indesign CS4 - Swf export

    I am using Indesign CS4 to make a page turn and it works fine.
    The problem I have, that the PDF I insert in indesign contains both text and pictures and look crystal clear. After I have done the export to swf the pictures still look OK, but the text is simply unreadable. In the export options I have tried different options, but no matter what the text stays unreadable.
    The PDF is use is standard A4 format, but when it is exported it seems that it has been compressed to smaller size - and maybe that is the reason ?
    Any of you able to help me, so I can use this great page turn function

    I've never exported to SWF, but isn't a placed PDF treated as an image? I.e. any text in it won't get the same treatment as real InDesign text.

  • SWF Export, no font showing in Acrobat and zoom border problem (Acrobat & Reader) - Indesign CS6

    Hi Everyone,
    If anyone could help me on this that would be great, I've spent hours on the forums and manuals to no avail.
    I'm making an interactive PDF brochure in Indesign for one of our new products and I'm having issues (actual or perceived??!!) with the SWF export and PDF creation.  I'm placing animations and video in the INDD, exporting it as an SWF (with the text option as Flash Classic Text) and then opening the SWF (not importing to a word doc or anything, just opening the SWF) with Acrobat using the advanced options to import the video resources and to enable the content when the page is opened.  I then save the file as a PDF.  In the PDF everything works as it should, the animations, the buttons, the video plays and so on.  Great.. hmm not quite.
    The trouble I am having is that all the content of the SWF when viewed in Acrobat seems to be getting rasterised/flattened - is this correct?  After the SWF is opened, Acrobat indicates no fonts in the fonts tab in the document properties so when the SWF is zoomed in Acrobat, or the saved PDF in Reader, the font gets pixelated and the document is not searchable/text can not be highlighted.  The images are not selectable either - it is as if the entire page has been flattened to one image.  Is there a way to stop this so that the SWF opened with Acrobat retains the font and individual images like a normal PDF?  Do I have to open the SWF in Flash first to set some parameters or something?  Is there something I am doing wrong when exprting the SWF from Indesign?  I think I have tried about every possible export combination.  When I open the .HMTL (exported at the same time as the SWF from Indesign) in a browser, the same happens.  All the animations work but the text appears to be rasterised/flattened/not searchable.  Sorry if I'm not using the correct terminology.
    I have tried importing the SWF back into another new INDD and exporting that as an interactive PDF but then the video does not work.  I suppose I could try exporting all the individual animations as SWFs, importing them all and trying to get them to work with the video but I can see that will take quite some time and does not seem to be a guaranteed solution from what I have read on the forums - video playback being the issue.
    Another problem is that when the SWF, or saved PDF, is zoomed in Acrobat/Reader between approx 150% and 210% a thick white border appears in the document and the content is squashed into the middle creating a slightly pixelated and narrow page.  When I zoom out from the page I get a small white line on the right hand border at around 70% zoom.  Please see images.  Does anyone have any idea why this is happening and what I can do to fix it?
    On another, sort of related topic, my timing panel went blank yesterday and was not showing any animations in documents that it had been used to order and synch animations on page load as well as new documents.  The panel was blank.  I updated to V8.0.1 and the panel sprang back into life - hope that helps anyone else finding the same problem.
    I am not very familiar with Indesign/Acrobat/Flash so I guess all the above could be what I'm doing or I could be asking  really dumb questions - apologies from a newbie.
    Best,
    Emily

    Hi All,
    I have now pretty much solved all the issues by creating the SWF in Flash rather than Indesign.  I would advise anyone looking to create an interative PDF with animation and interactivity to go with Flash from the start.  While Flash is a little more involved to create the same effects as Indesign, the extra time taken will ensure a more controllable and better looking PDF in terms of text quality, scalability and so on.  Plus you will not spend days trying to get video to work along side imported SWF etc in Indesign.  One of the best controls in Flash is being able to set the stage.scaleMode for the document so the PDF still looks crisp when zooming, no white borders etc.  So, create the .fla, export to .SWF, open the .SWF with Acrobat, modify the advanced settings to enable start on page load and save as a PDF.  If you don't know Flash, I didn't a couple of days ago, watch a couple of tutorials on Youtube.. buttons, tweens, embedding video and you'll be ready.  Don't be put off by ActionScript, there are really handy Code Snippets in CS6 that do all the heavy lifting for you.
    Sorry Indesign!
    Best,
    Em

  • Illustrator vector graphics rasterizing horribly in InDesign .swf exports?

    I'm a teacher who's been using InDesign CS5 to make interactive .swf files for my students. The functionality is pretty simple: using simple buttons, I allow the user to hide or show various page elements. These page elements are themselves buttons, of course; more specifically, they are text and line drawings made in Illustrator and placed in InDesign.
    My problem is that whenever I export to .swf, the placed .ai files (i.e. the buttons that appear and disappear) look absolutely awful--blurry, rasterized, and much worse than the surrounding page elements. (Text smaller than 8pts is often impossible to read.) I've tried adjusting every parameter that InDesign shows upon export, and nothing seems to fix it. It's probably also worth mentioning that I don't know anything at all about Flash. So this could be either a Flash issue or an InDesign one.
    Any help would be much appreciated!

    Have a look at this thread here, report back if you don't understand what Petteri means by copy and paste from Illustrator. (It literally is just that!)

  • SWF export error unsafe operation

    Hi, i am new to cs5 but when i am exporting from indesign to SWF or Interactive PDF an error comes :Adobe Flash Player has stopped a potentially unsafe operation etc etc.
    when I am linking out to a URL or File on my local server.
    The links work in the 'Preview and so I know they are all good.
    Can anyone help.  I have tried the Flash Global security settings and adding URLs etc ....this does make a difference?
    Is there a setting some where that I need to unchesk to allow the links to be recognised once exported?
    Desperate and all that!
    Any ideas much appreciated.

    Welcome to the forum.
    Unfortunately, you have posted to the PrElements forum. PrE is a consumer-level video editing program.
    You want to post to the InDesign Forurm instead.

  • Indesign to swf creates grey border

    I have asked this before. I have been experimenting with exporting a page turning swf file from Indesign. However, no matter what I do the resultant html file has a grey border. It seems to be generated in Indesign but I can't see any way of either changing the colour or getting rid of it. Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Ian

    I´m afraid that straight from indesing, you won´t get rid of that. Fortunately there´s easy way to do better working html-wrapper. That method is calling swfObject. It´s a little bit different way of building code "around" SWF inside html.
    You find handy (and free) SWFObject Generator tool for generating new html-file from address
    http://www.bobbyvandersluis.com/swfobject/generator/index.html
    It´s online version, theres also an AIR based desktop version of it. Usage is quite simple. go to address above and give name of your swf and dimensions. You have to check dimensions while you export, you can see pixel size of your coming swf at the top of swf export window. Thats about it, generate code and copy/paste it to notepad or some other plaintext editor and name it with extension .html to same directory with your swf. (with AIR you can also use Save command)
    If you need even more controls for your swf, you might want to test my eDocBrowser too. You find a sample of it from adress:
    http://www.prepress.fi/eDocBrowser
    And if you want to test it with your own file(s), you´ll find free demo version from address:
    http://www.prepress.fi/edocbrowser_demo/eDB_DEMO.zip
    UnZip pakage, export your file to eDB_DEMO folder with name 1_magazine.swf (overwrite old one) and open index.html to your browser from that folder.

  • Automatic page transition in swf-Export

    Hello,
    I have a brochure for a swf-export. I want the pages to turn automatically after a few seconds.
    Haven't found such option yet. Hope you can help me.
    Regards,
    Paul

    There´s no such feature in InDesign....
    If you want to make that happen, you need to do some actionscript coding.
    Is this what you want (it takes few seconds to start):
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/17227987/autopageturn/index.html
    If it is, you can download those files as zip-pacakge:
    http://www.edocker.com/support/edocker-freebies/
    1) Extract ZIP,
    2) replace SWFfromID.swf, you may actually export SWF from InDesign directly to that same folder, use that name and overwrite existing file.
    3) Then open index.html to your browser.
    Pageturning delay is 5 seconds.
    If you need more control over your SWF, you may want to check http://www.edocker.com. With it you can add features like zooming, printing etc to your SWF files.....

  • Animations to SWF Export, place back, make PDF: Acrobat XI?

    I read that Flash runtime is not supported anymore in Acrobat XI. What does that mean for clients viewing PDF files that have placed SWF files and viewing them on computers that have no Flash player/plug-in installed? I have clients that export InDesign animations to SWF and place them back before making a PDF...

    Please help me, how can i quit receiving thesemeseages from This In design forum?

  • Speeding up SWF export process.

    Hi All,
    My  plug-in(server plug-in) generates SWF of a document  using the kSWFExportCommandBoss.
    Code looks like this:
    InterfacePtr<ICommand> swfExportCmd(CmdUtils::CreateCommand(kSWFExportCommandBoss));
    // Set Target
    UIDList items(documentUIDRef.GetDataBase());
    InterfacePtr<IPageList const> pageList(this->document, UseDefaultIID());
    for (int32 pageIndex = 0, pageCount = pageList->GetPageCount(); pageIndex < pageCount; ++pageIndex)
    items.Append(pageList->GetNthPageUID(pageIndex));
    swfExportCmd->SetItemList(items);
    // Set cmd data
    InterfacePtr<IDynamicDocumentsExportCommandData> dynamicDocsCmdData(swfExportCmd, UseDefaultIID());
    dynamicDocsCmdData->SetStream(outStream);
    dynamicDocsCmdData->SetUIFlags(kSuppressUI);
    // IID_ISWFEXPORTPREFERENCES
    InterfacePtr<ISWFExportPreferences> swfCmdData(swfExportCmd, UseDefaultIID());
    InterfacePtr<IWorkspace> iAppWS(GetExecutionContextSession()->QueryWorkspace());
    InterfacePtr<ISWFExportPreferences> iSWFExportPrefs(iAppWS, UseDefaultIID());
    swfCmdData->Copy(iSWFExportPrefs);
    swfCmdData->SetTextExportPolicy(flash_export::kVectorizeText);
    swfCmdData->SetIncludePageTransitions(kTrue);
    CmdUtils::ProcessCommand(swfExportCmd);
    For some documents it takes more than a minute to generate the SWF.(It takes the same time through InDesign Application's export functionality with same settings as in the code ).
    Is is possible to speed up this export process through some settings in ISWFExportPreferences. Or any other preferences that needs to  be set.
    And what impact will these settings have when loading the SWF in Flash player.
    Regards,
    Jasmine Shaikh

    Have to agree with PT on this one. Almost entirely dependent on clock speed and cpu type.
    I'm not sure if additional HD's will increase speed or not. From my own experiences, External HD's may even slow things down a bit. Much better to work from the main internal HD (that has plenty of available HD space) in my opinion. iDVD6 needs plenty of elbow room on the main drive.
    If you don't have plenty of available HD space then it could (and in most cases does) slow the entire encoding process significantly.

  • InDesign CS6 ePub Export : Tables with header and footer in HTML

    Hey there,
    does anyone know, whether InDesign CS6 also exports Table Headers and footers correctly into the XHTML-File of the ePub.
    What I mean, is whether the elements <thead> and <tfoot> are created?
    Or is it only possible to steer this via the CSS-Classnames which can be given in the tableformats?
    Generally I think it would be better if the user had the chance to map other exporttags to its elements than just p, em, strong, h1-h6.
    it would be useful to also put in other elements by hand.
    Best regrads.

    By "also", do you mean the behavior is changed with respect to CS5/CS5.5? In those, thead and tfoot are created correctly. (Although, quite disconcerting, in the order "thead / tfoot / tbody". ePub renderers based on Webkit display them correctly nevertheless, but others do not. An extremely annoying free interpretation of the W3C rules.)

  • InDesign crashes while exporting to PDF

    I have one PDF that after placing in InDesign cannot be exported to PDF
    InDesign crashes on Windows and Macintosh, versions from CS3 to CC
    Any ideas what can be wrong with my PDF?

    I reckon you might find that you have font clashes as your PDF is being created. I had a similar issue a few weeks back where I had created a Brochure, sent it to the client, went through rounds of amends, and the final round of amends prior to print sign off was sent in a word document. When I opened the word doc, I copied and pasted the amends, all looked fine, so I created one last PDF... crash.
    I ahve a suspicion that word auto-activated a font that didn't agree with fonts within the InDesign file. I deactivated many fonts, restarted my Mac and hey presto... sorted!
    Now, the PDF that you imported into your InDesign file may well be the culprit activating a dodgy font, and this becomes a bit problematical. So, you could open it in Photoshop and save it as a high res image, or you could open it in Illustrator and hopefully all text has remained in place and will enable you to ouline fonts and save it as an illustrator file... BUT, you must advise and get your client to check the contents of the resultant file if you go down either of these routes.

  • Building linkable navigation within an indesign document when exporting to pdf

    I'm working in InDesign CS3 and wondering if there is a way to create a linkable navigation in the program when exporting it to pdf. Also, how, if its possible, do I build an html file out of an InDesign document or exported from ID as a pdf?

    ID CS3 has an export to crossmedia xml for DreamWeaver option, but you need to edit the result in a html editor like DreamWeaver to clean it up and get a better result. You will never be able to get a page in html that looks exactly the same as in ID though unless you provide a pdf-page for download. You also do not have control of how a pdf on the web is shown for the user in his/her browser as that setting for that is done by the user, not by the page. Some show it on the page, others have pdfs for download (like me).

    i want to make a schedular probably in Coldfusion or using javascript ,  which read xml files from a folder ,import in Indesign template then export as a pdf....

    I don't think you understand: I want to open Dreamweaver and build a brand new site, then when I am done I want to host the dreamweaver site on the Business Catalyst platform. I dont want to use anything in BC to build the site, I just want to use the hosting platform. I do not want to import a BC site into dreamweaver or anything like that. I just want to use BC the same way I would use godaddy, or uhost or any other hosting provider. Based on your response you said that "of course its possible to build a BC site in Dreamweaver" I dont want to build a BC site, I want to build a Dreamweaver site and host it on the BC platform. Like I said before it doesnt seem like this is possible. As of now we can only build a new site in MUSE and integrate it into BC without using a BC template. Can you understand what I am saying. I DONT WANT TO USE A BC TEMPLATE, I WANT NOTHING TO DO WITH BC WHILE I AM BUILDING THE SITE WITH DREAMWEAVER, JUST LIKE MUSE DOES.
