Indesign - Verwendungsrechte in Adobe Reader aktivieren

Hallo

  • How do I import a file from Adobe Reader XI into InDesign CC 2014?

Have tried to start using this programme, but with no success with regard to opening a file which I saved under Adobe Reader XI as a PDF. It is a small book which I want to convert to an EBook. How do I start please? Tony L

Create a new InDesign document. Choose Place from the File menu.
A PDF can be included anywhere on a page, at any size. It is not editable, it is just a picture like a JPEG.

  • InDesign to Adobe Acrobat to Adobe Reader Link problem

Hi - I'm responsible for a long conversation about link problems in creating file links in InDesign that did not work in Acrobat. At the end of that long discussion, I thought I solved the problem, but didn't. Since then, I've been MUCH more observant.
The problem appears to take place in Adobe Reader.
My home computer on Win7 is different than my work Computer (XP), but I have the same software on both.
At work, I discovered that when I clicked on a PDF, it worked fine, that its links opened a new PDF window, but when I clicked on links on the second document, the links failed and Microsoft returned an error message telling me that I was screwed. Because I was screwed, I couldn't see what was in the path of that error.
It turns out that for some unknown reason (which you might clarify for me), my Adobe Readers are attempting to open my documents in Internet Explorer and that just won't work.
What I observed at home is that I made 5 test documents in ID, and ported them to Acrobat. As it turns out, my default for opening PDFs is Adobe Reader, which I saw on the chrome of the first document I opened. When I clicked a link, and I got the error message, I noticed my browser was up.
When I set my default for opening in Acrobat, everything worked like a charm! How about that!
Now then, what that says to me is that Adobe Reader is to be used exclusively with a browser, so if the people who are going to read your internal PDF files with Reader without those files being on a web server of some type, you are totally screwed. The only way you can use Reader is if you click on the file and bring it up directly. Don't rely on linking to other documents.
I mean, that is what it seems to me.
Now, I am creating a big project for an environment without a webserver and obviously my sense of panic is palpable. That said, I believe that all my users can read my files using Acrobat (to be tested tomorrow), which I hope means I can breathe a bit easier.
Do any of you have any thoughts on this subject? If you are really curious, I can make a packet of test files available.

    Karen_Little wrote:
The files and the PDFs are all in the same directory.
The tests are on local drives. All indesign files and their related PDFs were in the same directory.
The same for Word and its related PDFs. Note that the PDFs created by Word then read by Adobe Reader worked correctly. They all opened in Adobe Reader.
If the default program for opening PDFs is Acrobat, everything works correctly, with the added benefit of everything opening in a different window, which is what I want (yet to be tested at work). If the default program is Adobe Reader, the second generation of links do NOT work because Reader opens in Internet Explorer.
When I open a Word-created PDF with Acrobat, view the link, and click to the Actions menu, the action is "Open a file"
When I open an InDesign PDF with Acrobat and do the same, the action says "Open a web link"
    Big BIG BIG bug.
Are you seeing the link commands by editing them in Acrobat? If not, try, so you can see the exact command and file or URL instruction. It still may be a bug, but you'll have better evidence when you report it here:
Adobe - Feature Request/Bug Report Form
And, you might want to try correcting a link command in Acrobat, to see if can work for both Acrobat and Reader.

  • Dotted lines in Indesign turn into thick bulky lines in PDF (Adobe Reader)

    Hi there
Got a situation that is really confusing me, i have dotted lines in indesign that look perfect thin and in a light grey, however when i export this and view it in adobe reader/acrobat or when i upload my pdf online, the lines turn into thick black bulky lines? I have ensured that 'compression for line art and text' is unticked,  can anyone help me understand this?
As my pdf is for viewing online I would really want the lines to not ruin the whole page
    Many thanks
what line is supposed to look like and and what it looks like in adobe reader/ acrobat

I've been having the same problem.
After seeing Larry's comment it occurred to me that my Mac automatically opens all files that I export to pdf in 'Preview', and this is what I have been using to view the pdfs each time. I deliberately opened the same files using Adobe Reader, and the dots are fine.
So perhaps it's just a problem with 'Preview'? Unfortunately I think my printer is using Preview too, as 2 recent jobs have been printed with those awful clumsy dots

  • InDesign to PDF, ok Adobe Reader, bad in Apple Preview

    Hello
I have an InDesign file that has been saved as an interactive pdf.  There are several .psd files in the document.  (selected objects with the surrounding area made transparent).
I have been opening the file in Adobe Reader (on a PC), and didn't realize there was an issue until I opened it on a Mac in Preview.  There, all of the psd files have a black box where the transparency should be.
I can't figure out why the file looks different in the two programs.  All of my searches have given solutions for printing errors regarding transparency, but I haven't found anything relating to this (an error that is only apparent in one program).
Is this fixable, or just a bug that is out of my control?

Apple's Preview application, not only on MacOS, but also iOS (for iPad and iPhone), is fairly crufty when it comes to fully adhering to the PDF specification. The problem is that of bugs in Preview, not in InDesign's export of PDF.
The workaround is very simply to use Adobe Reader on MacOS and on iOS. Unfortunately, there is nothing Adobe can do about this!

  • Strange text display in pdf using adobe reader exported by Indesign CS5

    Hi there,
I have export an interactive pdf from indesign CS5 PC version with version 7 update, and it looks fine in most of the PC and Mac Adobe reader.
But 2 of the computer had strange text display. One is the iMAC with latest version of Adobe Reader
<== you can see the text "78" and "454" are abnormal
But with the same computer using Safari with perview plugin is showing following result:
<==you can see the text are normal.
The pdf is embedded with following fonts and property:
Another Windows XP with Adobe Acrobat 9 will had same display as the iMac.
I ensure the Windows XP don't have the font installed with HelveticaNeue and the Mac is using OS Lion Bundle with that font.
Now the customer blame it is the problem of the pdf created by me and I had no idea how to explain to my customer and find out solution.
I had a trial version of CC but same result and no error during the export.
Any idea is highly appreciate. The customer hotline and the live chat is hopeless as they send me to this community to ask since I use CS5 not the latest version.
    Regards,
    Ichi

    Thanks Willi,
I had the fonts of Helvetica Neue bold light etc which created by Adobe and the font was created in 1993,shown in font property.
my PDF output is set to interactive not the print one. Other settings are default.
the purpose of this PDF is for user to print out and read on website. The funny thing is print out had no problem at all with HP and Ricoh printer using PCL 6 driver.
Despite Safari, the strange font happened in only Adobe product, other PDF reader had no problem such as foxit reader, xchange reader.
I tried to not embed the font but not able to do indesign, search in Google, it said it always embedded. Also that font family is preloaded in Mac OS.
I can try any test if there is a way to find out the solution.
or what should I do so the PDF should display correctly in all computer
    thanks a lot.

  • Exported pdf from indesign drops punctuation when printed from adobe reader

The pdf prints fine when printed from acrobat pro, but depending on the export pdf settings from indesign, it will drop most numbers and punctuation when printed from adobe reader.

So the option was already checked when opened the document. I went ahead and unchecked, closed, reopened just to test and it's still not displaying correctly.
In response to Bill@VT. The image is on top of a white background so I can't tell if there is space there or not, it's just all white.
She showed me another document that's doing something similar today. This time the pdf was done with a green background and now the background shows as white. It was created the same way with Indesign and it shows fine in Reader and the Windows preview pane just not Acrobat. I'm trying to get the user to find the installation media so I can remove and reinstall, but I'm not sure if she will be able to find it.

  • First page only when opening PDF (interactive) in Adobe Reader on iPad.

    Hi,
I am having trouble opening a pdf document in Adobe Reader on iPad.
All software is up to date.
I created the interactive document in InDesign CS6.
Due to the fact that InDesign cannot export directly to PDF when you want to keep certain functions such as 'Go to page', I used the workaround of exporting to .swf file, loading this in Adobe Acrobat Pro, and exporting as PDF from there.
The PDF is fully functional and works perfectly on Mac and PC.
I added the Adobe Reader app to iPad.
I opened the iPad in iTunes on the Mac, went to the Adobe Reader app, and added the PDF.
The PDF shows up in Adobe Reader on the iPad.
Upon opening the PDF, only the first page shows, and none of the buttons work. The file size is correct and so the whole file 'should' be showing.
    Whats going wrong?
Does Adobe Reader for iOS allow interactive PDFs?
Also, on a side note, I tried first adding the PDF's using Dropbox, but the 'share' icon in the Dropbox App did not update to include 'Adobe Reader' as an option, having installed Adobe Reader App. It should be there, shouldn't it?
    Hope you can help!
    Thanks,
    Zeen

Thanks Steve, but I had tried GoodReader earlier and that made no difference. This led me to think that it was something to do with what functions I was trying to have in my interactive file rather than limitations of a PDF reader App.
It is a bit disappointing, however, that Adobe's own app doesn't support interactive PDFs!
What I have now done is using InDesign CS6 Folio Builder panel and DPS to convert my interactive document into a .folio. I signed up to acrobat.com and then I was able to upload the .folio to my DPS cloud. On the iPad, I downloaded Adobe Content Viewer (care when searching the app store it's actually called Adobe® Content Viewer). Next I opened the App and it did a sync with my DPS cloud and now the PDF works with full interactivity on my iPad.
It was free to publish a personal-use .folio using the DPS Folio Producer. ^_^
I think that I might have been better from the outset creating my  document in InDesign, then exporting as high quality print PDF to Acrobat to add buttons and functionality (instead of creating the  buttons etc. in InDesign itself), then I have a feeling GoodReader would  have been able to read that PDF fine. Regardless, today I created my first working .folio file and have learned a new skill in Adobe =]
The only problem I'm now having is that some of the images in the .folio are poor quality (I think ones that were link files to the original InDesign CS6 document), however this is not for this forum.
I wonder if anyone else has been trying to do the same as me. What was your method, if successful?
    Ciao,

  • ID CS6 Form Submit not working in Adobe Reader

    Hardware = Mac 8Core OSX 10.7.5 | Software = InDesign CS6 vs 8.01
I'm having ongoing frustrations with the ID Cs6 Forms. The interactive form Submit button works on my machine's Adobe Acrobat Pro, but not on machines using Adobe Reader (I've given up on it working in Apple Preview). It has worked on one other mac machine, again it was Adobe Acrobat pro 9.1.1. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks in advance: Justin

You need to enable that in Acrobat Pro.

  • Cannot open pdf portfolio using adobe reader X

    Hi
Previously, I thought that having Adobe reader 5 or up is enought to be able to open PDF portfolio's created in Adobe acrobat X, though on a differing level of view depending on the Adobe reader version.
My Problem is, I tried to open a PDF portfolio, I have Adobe Reader X and it came up with an error.
Newbie question, So, to view portfolios or any PDF's with flash etc, the ussual Reader would no longer suffice?
    Regards
    Jani

Thanks for the replies. Dave, thanks for the really helpful link.
The problem that this has created is for some guys who are previously sending reports (multiple pdf's/portfolio) to their clients in a hassle free way since it only requires the client (recipient) to have Adobe Reader installed. Now it requires another program as it was sort of separated from the Reader family. Previously, instead of having the ussual coversheet for the PDF portfolio to include that it is best to view on the latest version of Adobe Reader or Acrobat, will now need to include the latest version of Flash player as well.
I have not tested yet, though probably on another topic, but does this also affect if you are planning to open a PDF created in Indesign and given the format of  "page flip"?
Dave, do you have any tips on a possible workaround or atleast creating a pdf portfolio or any PDF document with SWF/flash capability to be user friendly or less hassle for a recipient to open?
I am really sorry if I have a lot of questions =(

  • Create text editable PDF for client to edit in Adobe Reader

I would like to create a PDF from either Illustrator or InDesign so that my client can edit just the text in the document using Adobe Reader as necessary (for flyers and business cards etc). I want to set the file up in Illustrator or InDesign so all text is laid out properly where I have the proper tools to do so, rather than using the Acrobat form tool and guessing measurement/layout etc. I have tried exporting to PDF from both programs and then using Acrobat Pro's form feature but it won't recognise any of the fields. I am using CS4 and Acrobat Pro 9 and am unsure if my software is too old to complete these tasks or if I am doing it incorrectly. I have seen it done in plenty of places so I know it is possible, I'm just not sure how.
Here are some links showing examples of what I am trying to do:
Using an e.m.papers Wedding Invitation Template.mp4 - YouTube
How to use an e.m.papers printable RSVP template.mp4 - YouTube
So, basically any advice on the following would be greatly appreciated:
How do I make text editable in Adobe Reader (from an Illustrator or InDesign file)?
How can I easily put the same design onto the same page (eg 8 business cards on an A4 page with crop marks) multiple times so that if I need to change the design slightly, it will change the design on all of them?
How can I make the PDF like it is in the YouTube videos, so that when you edit one "product/design", it will edit all on the page?
Or, how can I create a file of multiple business cards on the one page where they can have a different employees details on each card?
This is my first time using this forum so if you require any further information, please let me know. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  • Multiple Problems with PDF InDesign, Bridge, and Acrobat Reader

I create proof books with a blend of Adobe Bridge & InDesign.
Here is my work flow: I will BOLD the errors I am having and need help with.
Step 1.) I create contact sheets in Bridge and save them as PDF's
Problem with Bridge ( I have another posting for this thread as well under Bridge) I cannot save PDF's larger than 400ish photos at 300ppi (important for my printer) without it saving as a blank PDF. COMPLETELY EMTPY! So I have to split up my photos into groups of 400 or less photos then patch them back together.
Problem with Acrobat: If I patch those PDF’s back together with Adobe Acrobat (a suggestion from another person on here) they save great but I get an error when I try to import them in indesign. The error reading: ERROR. Cannot determine page count.
Please open the PDF file in Acrobat, do a “Save As…” and try again. (99)
Step 2.) I use a script (MultiPageImporter2.2.1.jsx) to import the PDF's into Indesign. (if saved as one pdf in acrobat I get the above error)
Problem With InDesign: I run this importer script in InDesign to create my books with a template I use from my printers. Well since I have to import multiple pdf with multiple pages ( because I can’t piece them together without the above error. Then I have this problem:
I place a pdf with 1-226 pages in. I start this on page 1.
I place the next pdf with 1-141 pages in. I start this on page 227.
An error pops up that says I MUST start my import on page 226!!!!!!!!!! I don’t want to import on page 226 because I have two photos on that page!
I tried it several ways and no matter what I loose my last page of my first import.
PLEASE someone help me! I feel like I might be doing something really silly but I’ve spent 7.5 hours today working on this books with error after error.
I have done all the updates on my computers and nothing works. I use two macs and both have the same errors. I have a mac-book Pro | snow leopard and a Imac | snow leopard.
    Thanks much!

All your problems seem to stem from the PDFs that you are making from Bridge.  What you are describing should be perfectly possible, but the fact that Bridge doesn't want to make a PDF with more than 400 photos and it all goes downhill from there makes me suspect Bridge.
Here's a plugin that may help?  Looks pretty cheap for what it does.
Apart from that I'd try to clean up the PDFs that Bridge is producing if Indesign doesn't like them.  One way would be to print to a new PDF, after you've combined them as necessary.
As to the last pronlem you mention, where it forces you to place on page 226, have you tried creating a blank page 227 first, before you try placing?

  • Adobe Reader 9.0 views but won't print a graphic that prints in version 7.0

I have several pdf files that were created from Adobe InDesign.  The files contain a photo that has text and another graphic layered on top of the photo.  When I export the InDesign file to Adobe PDF, I can see the entire image (photo, text, and graphic), but when I try to print the PDF from Adobe Reader 9.0, the graphic image does not print.  When I try to print the same pdf file from a computer that has Adobe Reader 7.0 installed, the file prints fine.  Is there anything I can do to fix this problem?  If not, is there any way I can get Adove Reader 7.0 reinstalled (I can't find it on the website).  Thanks.

Try and print the PDF as an image.
Also when you send this to someone else are hey able to print without an issue?
    Have you've tried another printer?
