InDesign wants to reinstall itself

I have InDesign installed on my computer. When I try to download an attachment in an email, Adobe Indesign opens up, trying to re-install itself. In fact, when I try to open up any PDF file, the Indesign installation process begins. I have been successfully using InDesign for a month now, with no problems except this. Any ideas on how to correct this crazy activity would be appreciated.

Well, ID opening the PDFs is in itself just plain wrong. By default such stuff would open in Reader/ Acrobat... Reinstall those to fix your file associations...

  • Soundblaster Z Keeps Reinstalling itself as a Recon 3DI

Ok for the past 2 weeks I have a recurring problem that won't go away on Windows 8.1 x64 I have the latest official soundblaster z drivers installed and I leave my pc on overnight. Well anyway when I leave my pc on unattended for long periods of time my soundcard seems to reinstall itself as a soundblaster Recon 3DI everytime without fail.
This morning I woke up to a message on my pc screen saying please restart to complete changes, so I restart and my sound no longer works because for some bizzare reason it has yet again decided to reinstall itself as a soundblaster Recon 3DI.
The only way I can get it to reinstall properly as a SoundBlaster z is to pull the card out restart the pc into windows, then shutdown, reinstall the card then redo the drivers.
If anyone can shed any light please help me it is totally driving me nutz?

    Hi bloodfx,
You may want to remove the Sound Blaster Recon3Di from the system and disable the onboard sound (via the system's BIOS). Please refer to the mainboard manual on how to access the mainboard BIOS.
Hope the above suggestion helps !

  • The loading bar at the bottom of my browser has disappeared and I want to reinstall or reactivate it. How do I do this please and what is this bar called? I use the lastest version of Firefox 3.6.3 and Windows XP.

The loading bar at the bottom of my Firefox browser has suddenly disappeared and I want to reinstall or reactivate it. How do I do this please and what is this bar called? I use the latest version of Firefox 3.6.3 and Windows XP. I have many add ons and I usually automatically install the recommended updates. This problem has never happened before and switching my browser on and off again does not solve the issue.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== I am not sure why this suddenly happened. I think it may have been after my usual updates but I am not sure if that has anything to do with it at all.

Loading Bar? Maybe the URL/address bar where you type sites you want to go to (like www.google.com)? See Navigation Bar below. You may also need to see the first item "Can't see the Menu Bar".
<u>'''Can't see the Menu Bar'''</u> (File, Edit, View, History, Bookmarks, Tools, Help)?
Turning the Menu Bar on and off is a new feature in version 3.6.
''(Linux & OSX see: [[Menu bar is missing]] )''
<u>''Windows'' Method 1.</u> '''''Hold down''''' the key and press the following letters in this exact order: V T M
<u>''Windows'' Method 2.</u> Press and release the key. The Menu Bar will be displayed; then choose ~~red:V~~iew > ~~red:T~~oolbars and click on ~~red:M~~enu Bar.
The Menu Bar should now be displayed permanently, unless you turn it off again using View > Toolbars. Check mark = displayed, NO check mark = not displayed.
    See: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Menu+bar+is+missing
<u>'''Navigation Toolbar, Bookmarks Toolbar and other Toolbars'''</u> under View > Toolbars. Clicking on one of them will place a check mark (display) or remove the check mark (not displayed).
<u>'''To display the Status Bar'''</u>, View, then click Status bar to place a check mark (display) or remove the check mark (not displayed).

You can un-install the Mozilla ActiveX control as Firefox no longer uses it and hasn't since, as I recall, version 2. See: [[ActiveX]]
To remove Tools > Add-ons > Extensions, click on the item, click Uninstall, click Restart Firefox in the Extensions window.

  • I want to reinstall OS on my 2012 MacBook Pro. It shipped iwth 10.8, but now runs 10.9. Can I reinstall to 10.9, I do I have to reinstall 10.8 and upgrade again to 10.9?

I want to reinstall OS on my 2012 MacBook Pro. It shipped with 10.8, but now runs 10.9. Can I reinstall straight to 10.9, or do I have to reinstall 10.8 and upgrade again to 10.9?

Best to install 10.9 straight up. If you still have your OS 10.9 downloaded file you can use that, or you can go to the app store and download it again. It will be in your previous purchase history. Or you could even upgrade to 10.10. If you want to start from scratch you will need to boot from USB or DVD and initialise (erase) your internal HD. To do create a bootable USB thumb drive with OS 10.9 or 10.10 follow this guide

And heres a how to on installing a fresh copy of Yosemite (OS X 10.10)

  • I had to replace my iMac due to hard drive and Logicboard failure, so I want to reinstall Windows 7 on a Boot Camp partition. Will there be a problem reactivating Windows 7 Home Premium?

I had to replace my iMac due to HDD and Logicboard failure, so I want to reinstall Windows 7 on Boot Camp partition. Will there be a problem reactivating Windows 7 Home Premium?

    Hi,
    should be no problem.
Best case is you can activate online via Internet.
Worst case is you have to call Microsoft and explain that it is the same computer after a mainboard failure.
    Regards

  • HT2240 My hard drive crashed and I want to reinstall Quick Time Pro. I have a record of the Registration Code, but can't work out how to download the Pro version once again.

How do I reinstall Quick Time Pro for the second time if I no longer have the original email even though I have the registration code??
My PC died and I want to reinstall on a new PC.

Download and install the "free" version of QuickTime Player from Apple.
Under its Edit menu choose Preferences / Registration and enter your info. This "unlocks" the Pro features found in the free download.

  • I recently bought Mac book air and was doing a fresh install of 10.7 and I erased my hard drive and now want to reinstall osx but it keeps telling me that it can't find install information for this machine and to call AppleCare.

Any one have any suggestions?? AppleCare is closed right now

    Hmmmm...
When you say OSX, which version do you want to reinstall?
Was the MacBook Air new when you bought it?  Did it originally come with Lion?  Mountain Lion?
When you say you erased your hard drive, did something go wrong while you were installing Lion?
Were you installing it from a file downloaded from the App Store, or from another source?
When you press and hold "Option" while you boot up, does "Recovery" come up as an option to boot your computer?
If so, you can reinstall Lion from the recovery part of the drive and (hopefully) everything should be fine.
Let me know if you still need a hand with your MacBook and we'll see if we can get you going again.

  • Want to reinstall OS X on old mac before sale.  How do I connect it to internet service (ATT 'fiber optics') without a cable?

Want to sell old iMac.  It has been backed up, de-authorized with iTunes, and wiped with the 35-pass erase.  Now I want to reinstall OS X but no longer have an internet cable as we have gone from TWC to the ATT 'fiber optics' system since the old Mac was erased.  Please help.

Be sure to follow Apple's instructions in this document:  What to do before selling or giving away your Mac - Apple Support. If you don't you can create a problem for the buyer and yourself down the line.

  • Want to reinstall OS X -- recommendation for back up appllication data?

    Hi,
I want to reinstall OS X on my iMac. But I need to backup some Apple application data first so I can restore it later.
Specifically, all the email in Mail.app, all the songs/albumart/otherdata for iTunes, and the data in Address Book.
Can someone point me in the right direction for how to back up then restore this data? If there's a commerical app that will handle this easily for me, that might be good too (but most backup apps I've seen are intended for coping an entire disk, I don't think that's what I'm looking for).
Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks,
    slegge

    slegge,
How to back up and restore your important Mac OS X 10.4 files, is a good place to start.

  • Don't want to reinstall 10.8 from app store i have the disc but how? HELP!

Turned my Imac on the other day and it keept getting stuck at the start, so i started disc utility by long pressing alt. Verified disc, which faild and verified permission which also failed. It said i had to back up and format my drive. Since i already had a Recovery disc i went ahead and formatted the disc. After reset i went into the disc and menu came up for Restoring, Renistalling os, disc utility etc. If i click on reinstall osx it asks me to sign in the app stores and when i sign in it says "you need the account from which OSx was downloaded." Since i never downloaded it and i have the disc 10.6.2 on hand how can i reinstall from that disc?
I don't know how to restore from the (locked) backup drive so i figured i will just reset the whole thing. Data in that mac in not important so i just want to reinstall the thing from my disc which came with my other imac.
    Thanks for the help!

Is the 10.6.2 disc you have the original Install Disc from another Mac.
