InDesign Will Not Print to PDF

Good morning;
I am currently running InDesign CS5.5 on Windows 7.
I have a 103 page document which will only print to page 41 when I choose "Print to PDF".
It does not export any pages, when I choose "Export" and select pdf, or when I choose a "PDF Preset".
All 103 pages print to paper fine.
The document was working fine earlier this week. I could print everything to pdf.LiveFlight reports no errors
I opened an earlier version of the file, and it also could not print to pdf past page 41.Once again, there were no errors
I've tried restarting the computer, shutting down, etc
I was able to successfuly print the following to pdf:
a 45 page blank document
A 49 page document with images on each page.
I deleted page 42, and it was able to go two pages past. This is the log generated after the operation is complete (and unsuccessful):

Any thoughts?

Are you sure it’s been fully generated? PDF export is a background process.
To be sure, select view PDF after exporting in the export dialog box.

  • Acrobat X and XI will not print many pdf documents.

Acrobat X and XI will not print many pdf documents. When I click Print, the document fades and I get a dialog box that says "Adobe Acrobat has Stopped Working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." I was experiencing this with Acrobat X so I upgraded to XI, but the problem is exactly the same. I am using Windows 7 Professional operating system.

Thank you for your reply. I have several printers available on our network,
the program doesn't even go as far as allowing me to select a printer. I am
trying to print to an HP 1320n or a LANIER MP C5502 PCL 6. I have changed
the default printer, but the result is still the same. In does the same
thing with Adobe (Standard XI) PDF set as the default printer.

  • Adobe xi std will not print to pdf access denied

Upgraded to XI std from v9 pro
    OS is Win7
XI will not print to pdf
    access denied
    v9 pro prints to pdf
found no solution from web and forum search
    found others the issue
will this issue be corrected in XI?
    thanks

I had the same issue - and it is discussed in several posts around the net without providing a solution.
Here is my solution on a Windows 8 system:
I reinstalled Windows 8 to identify the problem and installed stepwise all programmes I had
The problem occurred after I installed Corel Draw X6 with Ghostscript and the Shell Extension.
Once I went back to the last restore point BEFORE the Corel Draw installation, Adobe worked perfectly fine. I reinstalled Corel WITHOUT Ghostscript and the Shell Extension (didn't want to verify which one caused the problem) everything was fine again.
Yet, deinstalling Ghostscript and the Shell Extension did not solve the problem.
I also did not try to repair Adobe after the deinstall of Ghostscript and Shell Extension
Hope that helps some otheres here
    Merry Christmas!

    Hi Silverfox2895,
I see that you're having problems with printing PDF files.  I would try using foxit reader below.
    Foxit Reader
Let me know how it goes.

  • My pc will not print a pdf made on mac os?

my pc will not print a pdf made on mac os? Anybody out in adobe land have any helpful tips or suggestions, or I am I doomed to running to kinko's everytime I need to print a signed pdf from a mac user, it's 2014, and many dumb IT problems still exist in the world. But hey, we can put people on the moon, and sounds like mars is on the way, why adobe, why?

This can happen with PDFs made in Preview (Part of Mac OS X). PDFs created with Preview are "quirky" at best with Reader. Especially if they contain form fields or images. THAT's an Apple thing. Whenever I need something "universal" I always make it with Acrobat Pro, because I deal with PC clients all week long.
Even PDFs made with Acrobat on a PC, signed and then saved with Preview, will have problems.

  • Firefox will not print a pdf file

I have Firefox 9.0 and it will not print a pdf file using the print icon but will print using Ctr+p. It will print in internet explorer. What do I need to do ?

Which "print" icon - the one on a Firefox toolbar or the one in the PDF window?
If you are using Adobe Reader to display PDF file, the newer version of Adobe hides the Reader toolbar by default - hit F8 to show the toolbar, the print icon should be on the Adobe toolbar.

  • Exported PDFs from InDesign will not print

Our Marketing Manager is using Adobe InDesign and exports her documents to PDF. These PDFs won't print in any of our printers in the office. It spools and then gets stuck and it actually makes our HP Coloured Laser Printer throw an error (error 79) and we'll have to restart the printer due to this error. We can print other documents and other PDFs in the printer so we know it's not a printer driver issue. In fact, we have isolated the problem to only PDFs exported from InDesign. Even if we create a blank document or add just text from InDesign and export it to PDF it still won't print. Really odd.

How exactly are you trying to print those PDF files to the HP printers? From Adobe Reader? From Adobe Acrobat? Or are you just somehow sending them to the printer itself?
Typical HP and other desktop printers either don't directly support PDF printing or only support subsets of PDF.
Assuming you haven't tried this already, try printing the PDF to your printer from either Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader.

  • InDesign will NOT print...???

    Help!
I'm about half way finished with a 400+ page music book that I'm putting together on my Mac (using InDesign CS3).
When I go to print out proof pages at my work computer (also a Mac which is equipped with CS4) everything totally bogs down and I simply can't even get the print window to even appear on the screen (???)...all I get is that spinning color wheel thing for literally hours.
Someone please tell that there is a simple solution to this problem!!!
I've already spent more than a half year to get to this point...and I'm now getting worried that I've made some kind of a fundamental/foundational mistake that will force me to have to start from the beginning.
I've already printed pages from this book by transferring from my home computer to my work computer in the recent past...each time it got progressively more sluggish to be able to print it. Now it simply will not.
The file size is 590.8 MB at this point. -Although for some reason it is smaller sized (420MB ?) when I go to the work computer.
Either way, I was thinking that 590MB seems rather large considering that all that is in the file are about 200 EPS files (about 450K each), 200 PNG "dummy" files (about 75K each -to be deleted later) and a couple of different basic fonts (Garamond and Helvetica) to notate chord types, etc.
Although I should, perhaps, start a new thread for this related question (?)...Is there a way to really streamline this project so that I don't run into a nightmare when it comes time to go to the printer??? -I thought it was a pretty simple process as there are only a few elements in play here...but now I'm getting more than little bit concerned. Also, I've considered breaking this up into 4 different files of 100 pages each in order to get around this issue but that seems like a lame solution to what ought to be done in 1 file.

I'm just guessing - do you save the converted CS3 files as CS4 before printing? This might make InDesign stumble.
Have you tried exporting the CS3 files to PDF and printing the PDF? If you'll use a commercial printer, they'll probably prefer PDF to InDesign files. It's worth talking with the printer to get advice on exactly how they like the PDF to be made.
Dividing a large project into separate InDesign files and managing them with the book feature isn't a lame approach, IMO.

  • HP Photosmart Plus B210 series will not print a PDF files.

When opening up a PDF file and attempting to print, the printer will not operate.  I get the "save as" box, and I can only save in a format that is not usable.  If I try to open the saved file, it cannot find an application to use the file.  What must I do to make the printer print the PDF file?

  • HP Officejet Pro 8610 all in one printer will not print a PDF or JPG in color

I am using mac osx 10.6
I can make copies in color. Print word documents with color and pretty much everything else but print in color any PDF or JPG. I have tried various printer configurations. I have tried from acrobat, illustrator, and photoshop. With photoshop i even tried the option of letting photoshop control the color settings. I hae tried multiple differnt files all with the same results. All are color files. I do not know what to do. I re-installed the drivers for the printer as well. I do not get any errors and the ink levels are fine. 3/4s full in fact of every color

  • Office OSX will not print, but PDF will...

    Hi,
I've got an Epson R320 of which I downloaded the most recent drivers for hoping this issue would resolve, but no luck.
I have MS Office OSX loaded on my iMac 600mhz "snow". If I save the file as a PDF and then print using "Preview" it will print. However, even a test page won't print in Word.
Any suggestions? Is this an Office OSX issue or a printer issue?
    Thanks,
    Justin

Adobe Reader can only print pdf files.

  • Adobe Acrobat XI will not print to pdf. Error message says no pages selected.

When I try to print a document created with Acrobat XI (recently updated), I get an error message telling me that no pages were selected. On the print window the "All" radio button is selected but the others are grayed out and not selectable. This was not a problem before I upgraded to XI.

    Hi marsha's angels,
Please see No pages selected printing error (Printing & Prepress).
If the solutions listed there don't do the trick, please let us know. It'll help us narrow down the problem if you can let us know what operating system you have, and whether the printing error is specific to one file, or occurs with any file that you try to print.
    Best,

  • Pdf documents will not print properly

my imac running 10.5.8 will not print some pdf documents properly.  In particular sheet music will only print as horizontal and vertical lines - the symbols and notes do not print.  The 'print preview' shows all the symbols and notation correctly.
This occurs in both Adobe Acrobat (v10.1.3) and Preview (v 4.2 - 469.5).
Printer in use is a HP 2600n connected via USB cable.

Seems it's not sending the Font to the Printer, or the Font has a conflict & the Printer thinks it's another Font.
Open Font Book & Validate all Fonts & check for duplicates.

  • Gradient Feather not printing to PDF or on paper

Hi, I have a file that has a white gradient feather that will not print to PDF or on paper. It only shows it on the screen. I have never had this problem before in the program but seems to have started today. What can I do to fix this?
    Thank you for your time!

I am working with InDesign CS4 on XP.
It is a native gradient created in InDesign.
It did not show up in Overprint Preview.

  • Why is my indesign cs6 not printing black (k100) properly?

Indesign will not print black at 100% properly, but at 90% down to 1%, prints fine?

Nothing changed. Thats the first thing I though might be the issue, but wouldn't explain why the black at 99% prints fine and the black at 100% prints a washed out green/black?
