InDesign won't install because of RoboSource

My InDesign download won't complete the installation.
The reason it gives is that two programs are running. The two programs are Adobe RoboSource applications. I can't seem to turn off these applications.
I appreciate any help.
Thanks!

Thanks for your reply.
I found a phone number for Adobe Customer Service and a couple gentlemen helped me out with this and got it resolved.
Two applications from RoboSource were running. Your support guys told me how I can turn them off. I had installed Technical Communication Suite just prior to InDesign. I was told that while a new Adobe product is being installed, it can check for other Adobe software. Sometimes it gets "hung up" if it finds something similar to what is being newly installed.
Glad to have this figured out.
Thanks a bunch!

  • CS3 InDesign won't install, Mac  OS 10.5

I've just received CS3 Design premium, and InDesign won't install. There is no reason given, just that it won't install. Shared components and Version Cue Server won't install either. I just upgraded to Leopard on a g5 Intel system. Any ideas on what to do next?
    Thanks,

    CS3 InDesign won't install, Mac OS 10.5
    Hi Darlene,
I think I just got lucky - it hesitated a few times then finally clicked.
One of the previous posters suggested to not install Version Cue, so I
clicked that one off. Did you repair the permissions and restart before
installing? Spin around 3 times clicking your heels saying, there's no
    program like InDesign?
If you can stay in InD 2 I would suggest that, expecially if you use a lot
of clipping paths. InD3 has a bug there that won't see interior paths, so
you have to go back into Photoshop to rework the image. If I had only know
    that before.....
    Good luck!

  • Pro free trial downloaded but it won't install because it says I already have a superior product (Standard)?

I have Adobe Standard.  I'd like a free trial of Adobe Pro because moving pages around in a 400 page document in Standard seems to be a nightmare.  It says Pro downloaded but it won't install because it says I already have a superior product.

I think the point is that you have a registered product and that is being interpreted as superior. Anyway, you may have to uninstall (after deactivating) Std to look at Pro. Don't do this if you do not have a backup of the Std install file and S/N that you should have saved to a backup CD and/or backup HD.

  • Indesign can't install because of conflict with InDesign

When trying to install trial version of Indesign CS3, I get an error message that states...Adobe InDesign CS3 cannot be installed because of a conflict with Abobe InDesign CS3...
I have run search and can not find any instance of "Adobe InDesign CS3" on the computer. Suggestions? HELP?

Try calling Adobe tech support. I'm not certain what the policy is on supporting installation of trial versions, but it can't hurt, and if they'll talk to you they should do it no charge.
If not, the best I can recommend is to run MSconfig and turn off all non-Microsoft services and all non-essential startup group items, and to make sure any firewall is disabled and no virus scanners are running before trying to install.
Other things known to conflict are iTunes, instant messengers, browser toolbars, and flash player (for which you'll find removal instructions at http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157&sliceId=1).
The only other major hurdle I can think of is that some new systems don't have jscript.dll properly registered. To do that, go to the start menu and select RUN, then type (without the quotes) "regsvr32 jscript.dll" and click OK. You should see a message that it was registered successfully, and doing it again won't hurt anything.

  • How do I find out if other firefox copies are running? The software update keeps saying it won't install because I need to check if other copies are running.

The update popped up, I clicked to install and it keeps popping up when I open Firefox that it cannot install because I need to check and see if other firefox copies are running. I do not know how to do that and why wouldn't firefox be able to tell if other copies are running and tell me how to delete them if that is what is necessary

    Do a clean (re-)install:
    * Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 4.0: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Firefox 3.6.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
    * Do not remove personal data if you uninstall the current version.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere (not in the Firefox program folder) and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • ITunes won't install because an older version of iTunes cannot be removed

    I'm running on Windows XP.
I had tried to update my iTunes a few days ago and it was failing because it complained about iTunes.msi. I tried to uninstall and it had the same complain. So I manually removed it and started to remove all references to apple and iTunes in my registry. After that, it no longer showed up in my add/remove applications but if I try to install iTunes (latest or an older version), it complains that it can't install because it can't remove an older version of iTunes.
I downloaded Windows Install Clean Up, but it doesn't list iTunes in there or anything that looks like it might be it. I've tried a number of registry cleaners but still no luck. Any ideas? It's obviously finding some information about my old iTunes install in there somewhere, but it can't figure out how to remove it. I wish it had some kind of debugging mode where it would tell me why it thinks I have iTunes installed still.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Ace ... I try not to post links to alternate locations for CleanUp downloads, because that tends to lead to the download location being shut down. (Happened twice for me the day after it was removed from the Microsoft Downloads Center.)
Assuming you've got trouble with an iTunes .msi file, here's a copy of my now-standard spiel on hunting down, installing and using CleanUp:
These sorts of msi-related troubles have gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes 9.2 again. Does the install go through properly this time?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

  • Leopard won't install because of "HewlettPackardPrinter" package

To start off I had to repartition my drive to the GUID partition. Afterwards I attempted to install Leopard twice, both times it stopped claiming it couldnt install because of my "HewlettPackardPrinter" package. (It stopped at seperate times though. First time was 30 min left, second was 11 minutes left) This is obivously my plug and go printer, which operated fine and gave me no problems up until now. I called apple support and spent two and a half hours on the phone with CS, we tried installing it both with the archived files and withouth and there was an error both times. THEN I lost the call and when I called back the support line was already closed because it was then 9:30pm. I tried my final install option, "Erase and Install" which I assumed would override the problem with what my printer left behind. It didn't the same error came up around 17minutes. Any advice?

So, my cd was corrupt. Just goes to show the importance of having patience and letting the cd check for consistency run prior to installing. Also, there's a way to select which printer drivers you want installed in the customize tab prior to installation. It installed fine with the HP printer driver selected with my new Leopard CD. The compatibility of the old printer package with the new OSLeopard had nothing to do with the install failure.

  • ITunes won't install because of error 1327

I'm really in need of some major help. My iTunes won't connect to the music store, and when I tried to update it, it says there's Error 1327, something wrong with my E drive. Only problem is that I don't have an E drive and no longer have the flash drive that might have been present when I installed it. Is there anyway around this, as I can't make it past the second part of the install phase because of this error.

    Connected a different flash drive.

  • Indesign won't install past 42% then says it failed. I downloaded photoshop and illustrator with no issues.

Ive tried to download Indesign but it won't go past 42% on the download bar and then it says it failed. no information to why.
I downloaded Photoshop and Illustrator with no issues
    on a Mac running 10.0.5

Dededededede I would recommend reviewing your installation log files to determine if the installation or download has failed.  If the installation has failed then there will be a specific error within the log which will determine why there was a failure.  You can find details on how to locate and interpret the installation log files at Troubleshoot install issues with log files | CC - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-cloud/kb/troubleshoot-install-logs-cc.html.  You are welcome to post any specific errors you discover to this discussion.

  • InDesign won't install due to administration privilages

I'm unable to install InDesign because my it says I don't have administrator privileges. I'm the only user and administrator. It's a problem I've had before with software but usually I can save a setup file and right click and run as administrator - but I don't seem to have that option with InDesign

If you are getting a S.M.A.R.T. error then you should be more worried about losing everything on your drive then about upgrading your Mac OS.  Regardless of if you are running Mac OS, Linux, or Windows, you should never just disregard such a drive error.  S.M.A.R.T. is designed to give you a warning that your drive is statistically having far more errors than normal and should be backed up immediately and typically replaced.
In your case, it's likely a coincidence that your drive is failing at the time you are attempting to upgrade to Yosemite.  You should stop what you are doing, backup your drive (if you don't already have the backups that you should prior to any OS upgrade), and replace the hard drive prior to moving forward.
To make it clear, your hard drive is likely going to fail soon and you may lose everything on it at any moment.  This failure has nothing to do with Yosemite or any Mac OS.  All hard drives fail at some point.  Hopefully this S.M.A.R.T. notice has given you the opportunity to solve a major problem before it gets worse.

  • OS X Mavericks won't install because of time machine

Has anyone had a problems with OS X Mavericks not installing itself because of time machine backing up data on the internal hard drive? what have you done/been recommended to do to overcome this? I have a macbook pro mid-2012 version with OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.5 running.

You will need to delete the backups.backupdb folder from the internal hard drive. If you are concerned there is data in there then move it to an external hard drive before deleting it.

  • ITunes won't install because Quicktime won't

I had QT on my computer, the latest version, and I tried to download iTunes and it says "Quicktime will not install. iTunes needs Quicktime to run." and the only option I have is to close.
I removed QT and tried to install QT w/ iTunes, same error.
I tried then to just install iTunes. same error
I put QT back on alone, tried iTunes again, same error.
If anyone can help before I have to return my new ipod because of software issues that would be cool. thanks.

with that one, let's try getting an itunes 7 installer log to the Apple Engineers for a look.
    1. Open a command prompt window. (Start menu -> Run. Type in "cmd". Hit return.)
    2. Drag and drop iTunesSetup.exe onto the window so that the full pathname of the file is at the command line prompt.
    3. Type in a space, then the following line:
    /l*v C:\log.txt
    4. Hit return.
    5. The installer will create a log file:
    C:\log.txt
Find that file and send it as an attachment to this email address.
in the email to Roy, be sure to include the following information:
    - A link to the thread on Apple Discussions where the issue is being discussed
    - The username you are using in the thread
    - The version of iTunes you are using or trying to use
    - the version of Windows you are using (mention service packs)
    - A concise description of the issue you are seeing
    - The exact text of the error message you are seeing

  • CS5 InDesign won't install on MacBook Pro

    Hi,
I've attempted 2x now to install InDesign via my CS5 installation discs on my MacBook Pro, and everything except InDesign loads each time. I get this error message:
    Exit Code: 7
    -------------------------------------- Summary --------------------------------------
    - 1 fatal error(s), 3 error(s), 0 warning(s)
ERROR: Found payload conflicts and errors:
ERROR:  - Adobe Flash Catalyst CS5 depends on Flash Player to be installed.
ERROR:  - Adobe Flash CS5 depends on Flash Player to be installed.
FATAL ERROR: Conflicts were found in the selected payloads. Halting installation.
It tells me to restart my system and try to install again, which I do, but it still doesn't work. When I load the CS5 installation disc, Adobe automatically recognizes that everything except InDesign has properly loaded, and when I click the install button, it loops me back through the aforementioned circle.
    Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance for your time!

Yes, I installed the newest version of Flash Player for Mac OS 10.6 and rebooted, but got the same message.
I also installed Adobe Support Advisor and ran it - Adobe's site says "Adobe Support Advisor looks at your OS system information and reads your most recent CS installation log file when you start the application. To run a customized inspection, deselect Autorun Diagnostics At Launch and set other options in the Preferences panel."
I did the autorun first and got this message: "The module found no issues to report for the selected log file.
If you continue to have difficulties with the application,
    please contact Adobe Support: http://www.adobe.com/support"
So I ended program to deselect "Autorun Diagnostics," but then I got this message: "Creative Suite Product Install Inspector has identified the issue(s) that needs attention.
An issue report has been generated.
Adobe will use this issue report to help address the issue(s) in the future."
I restarted the ASA and ran according to Adobe's instructions, got the same message, so I packaged the issue and got this message: "Adobe Support Advisor will package up system information and product log files that may be needed by Adobe Support personnel in order to assist you with the issue(s).
This information can only be accessed by Adobe Support personnel when you open a support case with Adobe and if you provide the entire 'key' value you will receive after the upload will complete."
It then gave me a support case number, so I'm about to call Adobe and see if they can help me. :-(

  • ILife won't install because there is no software to install

This is essentially the error message I get when trying to install iLife 09. I have updated my OS with the latest updates. I have rebooted. I get thru most of the install interactive stuff (like having to choose an install location) and then it starts to run the install process. About a minute later it comes back and tells me Installer Failed.
The Installer could not install the software because there was no software found to install.

Sounds like a faulty disk. Will it work on another machine?
    Regards
    TD
