Indesign XML workflow, how to handle footnote (CS3)

Nearly 3 moths i'm struggling more with doing footnote. Is it possible or not i.e. xmlElement move to the footnote

PDF Form to XML. How to handle invoice detail lines

I am using LC Designer 7.x on a PDF form that has a submit button that loads a ColdFusion MX7 page that will save the XML in a MS SQL 2005 XML field.
My source of confusion is how to handle the invoice detail lines on the PDF invoice form.
The XML that I want is
    5 All Season Tires
    400.02
    A car with 5 wheels
    20400.00
My question is how do I setup the form fields to do this.
What I did prior to XML was have fields whose name included the line number and store them as FDF.
eg
    description01 amount01 description02 amount02
But that will not work, or I dont know how to translate that to the desired XML.
Any thoughts you might have would be appreciated.

You want to create a subform called "invoiceLine" which you've set to repeat for each data item using the Binding tab of the Object palette. This subform must be contained within another (e.g. "invoiceLines") whose content is set to be "Flowed" on the Subform tab of the Object palette. So your object hierarchy looks like:
invoiceLines = subform with flowed content
    invoiceLine = subform repeated for each data item
      description
      amount

The classifier within the Seeburger context is being used to call your parent mapping, in case you want to dynamically determine your mapping, based on data in the UNB/UNH segment.
Within the B2B add-on, there is no need to.
Only use module localejbs/EdifactConverterModule in case you want to convert to or from EDI.
You have a specific requirement or do you want to test something out?

Hi,
You can pass the image url as a href attribute=> file:///Users/me/Documents/my_pic.jpg directly within your xml. It just needs that you pass a local, static and valid url.
If you want to add image later once the xml is flowed and so target specific nodes and inject images, it's a bit more complex. If the node is not part of the layout, you may try to reach the XMLElement objet and such an attribute, then layout the element.
var x = some XMLElement
x.xmlAttributes.add("href","file:///Users/m/Documents/my_pic.jpg" );
If already placed, then you have to get the associated pageItem, then place your file into it.
pagItm.place ( File ( "/Users/m/Documents/my_pic.jpg" ) );

Footnotes and notecalls in XML workflow for InDesign

I'm a french typesetter working on a project using XML workflow with a large number of footnotes. I have been searching for hours the right way to prepare the XML workflow so I would get all the notecalls and footnotes once the workflow imported in my InDesign file. Thanks in advance to any helping hand.

I wish I could express myself in another language as well as you handle English -- and my bread and butter is typesetting text that is challenging linguistically.
However, I also like to think of my work as setting type, and because I associate XML with robot formatting I am inherently biased against it. Perhaps I'll learn better, but currently I'm not a good source for information on XML.
Still, as I see it XML attempts to come up with a single source for output in various formats. InDesign is really good for making PDF's ready for the press or for distribution electronically: it defines documents in terms of pages and offers precise control over what goes where on every page. This is very important in my work, scholarly material that generally includes linguistic oddities requiring absolute control over fonts. Meanwhile, footnotes -- which of course assume there are pages at whose foot they can sit -- have always been an afterthought in ID, omitted from early versions, and still the subject of many complaints for their inflexibility.
Thus two early questions are:
Is InDesign footnoting capable of doing what you need? My guess is yes so long as you can tweak in ID; but if not then whoever gets tasked with using the masters you develop may not appreciate having to string a separate story of footnotes by hand across the bottoms of pages.
Do you need to get from ID back to XML? I've already mentioned that getting ID footnotes back into XML is a significant issue, but there are other factors: if you use ID PDFs for proofing but the ID files are not going back to XML then corrections must be made to both the XML and ID files. And whether or not you export ID back to XML you get to figure out which ID tweaks are needed in the XML.
Software manuals tend to explain what the software can do and omit discussion of what one might wish it could do. One of the things I appreciate about Dorothy J. Hoskins's brief 2013 book XML and InDesign is her chapter "What InDesign Cannot Do (or Do Well) with XML," though she this isn't the only place she discusses philosophical conflicts between ID and XML. She also touches on the value of XSLT transformations and scripting for wrangling XML, and mentions useful tidbits about Maidvald’s book since its 2007 publication.

How to handle abstract XML elements with XMLBeans

I have an xsd that uses abstract elements, and i wanted to ask you how can i create new XML Documents with XMLBeans? My problems is that i don't know how to handle abstaction with XMLBeans.
Let me show you a very simple example to make you understand my problem :
Suppose we have the following schema :

ct.changeType(pct.schemaType());With this code i get an XML Document like the following :
<Customer type="PremiumCustomerType" />But after that, i cannot add an element CreditCard into this Customer element. Can anyone help me?

In Indesign there is no way you can directly work on the XML-IN footnote, since indesign won't support XML tags in footnote stream.
To achive that you need to have XSLT/Perl/Indesign Scripting.
This task is achievable, you can create a auto footnote for XML workflow projects.
1. Create an XSLT to transform the footnote to the respective places
2. Change all the "<" ">" to some standard names, since indesign won't accept XML tags in the footnote stream.
3. Import it in indesign and using script convert it to autofootnote.

I am using OLE DB Source to fetch the records with Data Access Mode as SQL COMMAND which is using the below query with a parameter,

In this query for the parameter I am passing the value from a variable and which is configured (XML Configuration). While passing value
Buyer it works correctly. But while passing values Accountant,Buyer
it is not working as expected.
How to handle while passing such multiple values Or is it possible to pass such values or not in SSIS 2012 ?
Kindly help me to find a solution.
NOTE: I placed the whole query in a variable as a expression as below it is working fine.

Putting the whole thing into a variable is certainly a valid solution. The other involves putting the comma delimited list into a table valued variable.

How to handle xml message in proxy inbound processing?

I have a scenario that is SOAP Client====>XI===>ECC.
But i don't need to use the XI mapping,i skip mapping
in XI and use the generated proxy inbound processing.
Here is a message structure as below.

As far as i know there are no content conversion methodology for HTTPS as the recevier adapter.

    how to handle exception thrown from standard bo method in the workflow design. For example, bo BUS2032, METHOD confirm. If the user cancel it, it will throw exception. In the workflow, how to catch this exception and add corresponding steps in the workflow.

Try to implement the logic that what ever you are performing in the BO mehtod in a FM and in the FM you have tab with name EXECPTIONS define the execption in that tab.Now in the BO method you call this FM and if the exception occurs by using RAISE you can raise the exception in the FM and based on the number of exceptions your sy-subrc value will be set
so when sys-subrc is not eq 0 then pass a value back t the workflow container., I think this will work.

InDesign XML unparsed Entity unable to handle

Recently we switched over to the latest DocBook V5.1b2.
This DTD includes entityref attribute whose required value is an ENTITY.
Unfortunately this attributes throws error while validating in InDesign, which doesn't when validated with other XML validator tools after exporting.
I found the below note from InDesign XML reference document from the link

Have any one got idea to overcome this restriction within InDesign to handle unparsed entities.

"Within" InDesign, no, nothing you can do. It's documented though, as you found out yourself, and the solution provided might work.
Can you show a tiny snippet of XML where this entity attribute is used? It ought to be quite simple to write an XSLT that removes this attribute and does an identity transform on the rest of the data, and to apply this XSLT on importing your XML.

How to handle blank root element in xml source file

I have a dataflow which using xml source file. The job keep failing and I guess it might be caused by one of the root element which is blank. Can anyone advise me how to handle it?

The issue is DS cannot validate the source file at all. It returns error message when I try to preview the source file in the dataflow. Is there any work around I can implement other than request the source team to change the file layout?

How to Handle SAP SUS XML Acknowledgment

Hi folks,
I have a scenario here where the SAP R/3 system sends a Purchase Order document to SAP SUS through a SAP XI Mapping.
After processing the P.O. document, the SAP SUS system, automatically, returns a Acknowledgment message (ns: http://sap.com/xi/XI/Message/30) to SAP XI.
I need to implement a BPM scenario where SAP XI processes this Acknowledgment message and Logs it into my Monitor System (JDBC Adapter). Actually, the SAP XI needs to send to my Monitor System the status (Success or Fail) of the P.O. processing by SAP SUS.
How can I handle this Acknowledgment message with a BPM Scenario? Is it possible?

Currently in BPM you can do this with ASYNC-SYNC Bridge design.
You can not dirrectly access the content of the ACK, however the BPM shows different behaviours based on the ACK status. E.g. if the ACK contains a success message the BPM will continue in its normal process, if the ACK contains a permanent error, it will either stop or go through an exception branch (provided such a branch has been defined). Have a look at the documentation: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/43/65ce41ae343e2be10000000a1553f6/content.htm It doesnt"t state the above mentioned behaviour in detail but says that you need to define an exception branch.
The trickiest part is always to find out, when you will get a transient vs. as permanent error ack. Receiver adapters that run on the Adapter Engine support system acknowledgments if they are requested by the sender. Acknowledgements are triggered when a message is successfully processed by the adapter or if an error occurs while it is being processed. Receiver adapters do not support application acknowledgments. The RNIF and CIDX adapters are exceptions to this rule, since they also support scenario-dependent application acknowledgments. Sender adapters of the Adapter Engine do not request any acknowledgments.
However IDoc adapter is requesting application acks. Therefore you have to disable acks for this scenario using report IDX_NOALE.

Indesign XML to InCopy

Hi all,
How to export Indesign XML to InCopy.
We tried with Non XML workflow its working fine.
While exporting Indesign XML to InCopy its not converting the base text stream, only the floats are getting converted.
Please advice.

Its works on non xml workflow.
In xml workflow i think, some structured issues available.
Please clarify this workflow (if possible with sample).

My advice would be to avoid tables as much as possible for XML. (They can be useful sometimes, if the structure of original XML is very uniform, with different types of data in the same tags.)
If someone has asked you for a DTD, rather than the other way around, I presume that means you have control over the final agreed structure of the XML files you import. Rejoice! Use your powers to shape structure well -- and avoid tables. I think.
