I currently have Creative Suite5. I need InDesign6 for a job. If I purchase InDesign6, can I use the other programs in CS5, such as Photoshop5 and Illustrator5?

InDesign6 doesn't recognize plugins after a day of use.

I am on OS X 7.5. I have reloaded InDesign6 several times. After about a day of use, it no longer recognizes some plugin's. Every time I open it, more are added to the list.
Can anyone help?
The Application Managre keeps going bad too where I have to reinstall that.

I installed the product and went through the same errors with InDesign with the plugin's failing after working a day. I uninstalled it ALL. Ran the Cleaner. And reinstalled. Still ended up with the same errors after one day of InDesign working.

Serial number invalid, Monthly subscription InDesign6

HI,
I have bought a monthly subscription of InDesign6, previously I had installed an expired trial version, then I bought the subscription, I uninstalled the software and I downloaded and installed again. I searched for my serial in "register products" and I found one serial realted to the payment but this serial doesn't run, it's not valid serial, What's the problem?

I can't open InDesign6 since I've downloaded OSX Mavericks.

I try to open InDesign6 and get the "InDesign6 quit unexpectedly" error message. I have uninstalled and installed the program and still nothing.

Updating InDesign5.5 plugins to open InDesign6 files?

I'm currently using InDesign5.5 and I'm getting an error message when trying to open files that originated in InDesign6. It's asking me to upgrade the following plugins:

You don't. And if that's the error you're getting you need to update
CS5.5 to 7.5.3.
The CS6 user will have to export the file to IDML and send that to you.
Don't expect a perfect translation.

I have a book file that I need to export into an epub.

Synching has nothing to do with the version you use. Synchronizing would change formatting and if the styles are defined different it could result in a mess.
What you have to do is to update all numbers and links, which has to be done regardless of the version anyway before any output. And you have to check if the cross references are alive. I would open all documents of the book, but this has nothing to do with synch neither. This process would not be different in CS6, CC or CC2014. (Take care that you use CC2014, not CC!)
Use CC2014 as it has improved EPUB export capabilites, which are not available in CS6.
I would also recommend to redefine all Table of Content styles to activate the option to to add bookmarks and actualize all TOCs, this would help in the EPUB process.

Why can't I open older files in InDesign6

I have recently installed CS6 (teacher version) on my Windows XP operating system. when I try to open certain older files in InDesign, I get a message saying: "Cannot open (file name). Please upgrade your plug-ins to their latest versions, or upgrade to the latest version of InDesign." In the box above appears this: EPS PAGE ITEM.RPLN.

Is XP updated to service pack 3?
If the manual update also fails, I think you'll need to uninstall and reinstall (and it won't hurt to run the cleaner tool in between: CS Cleaner Tool for installation problems | CCM, CS6, CS5.5, CS5, CS4, CS3)

Submit Form button doesn't work in interactive form opened in Reader created in InDesign6

One of the features I was really looking forward to in CS6 was creating fillable forms with ONE application. I created a form following the step by step instructions in classroom in a book for CS6. When I opened the exported form in Reader X, I get a "This operation is not permitted" error. I opened the completed "end" document in the lesson to make sure I didn't commit an error, and I got the same message when exporting. I have looked for places in menus to modify security restrictions and I can't find any. I installed the updates and that didn't solve the issue.
I saw one solution posted which is to open the document in Acrobat, then do a "save as" option. Is there anything we can do that doesn't involve buying additional software? If this is not the case, then Adobe seriously needs to change its training and advertising about this functionality.

While I'm at it, here's a quote from Adobe's website, describing the Forms functions in InDesign CS6:
Using InDesign you can create simple forms within InDesign, without needing to touch up the PDF document in Acrobat after publishing. You can add simple form elements within the document pages. Recovery with InDesign6 and spinning ball of death

This morning the power went out while I had been working in InDesign and Illustrator.
I came in and saved the project before the back up power went out but did not get the Mac powered off completely before the back up power stopped. When the power came back on, I restarted the mac and Indesign, and my project is now constantly getting the spinning ball of death; I can't even open the file even though it says it was saved. ALL other programs are fine. Just problems with indesign.
I have reset the SMC and did a disc check on the hard drive and the disc utility said everything was fine.
PLEASE HELP! I am freaking out about my project!!

No. Placing pages will not help.
Try exporting a file that will open to .idml (see Remove minor corruption by exporting). I suspect, though that tehre may be program damage from the crash. Have you verified that you can create a new file and add pages?
If the .idml doesn't work, the next thing to try, if the new file is editable, is to creat a new file the same size as the one with a problem, then rename Master A to something you are not using in the problem file. Open the Paragraph Styles panel and from the flyout menu choose Load Paragraph Styles and choose the problem file as the source. Import the Basic Paragraph style and tell ID to use the incoming style.
Next, go back to the problem file and select all the pages in the Pages panel and opent the panel flyout menu. Choose Move Pages... and for the target pick your new file. Put the pages BEFORE page 1 so they don't switch sides.
In the new file, delet the last page which is now an extra, and see how it works.

Can't update, can't use InDesign6

I can no longer get my computer to use InDesign 6. When I start up, a box comes up indicating that Windows has detected a problem and is closing InDesign. I have tried re-installing and then updating/downloading updates, but the updates won't load. Has anyone else had this problem? It may be an incompatibility between Windows and InDesign?

Why is InDesign6 rendereing left-aligned text as right-aligned?

I have a Word Document and we're feeding it to InDesign 5.5 and InDesign 6. The text are left-aligned and were rendered as such by 5.5. InDesign 6 renders it as right-aligned. I'm not sure why this is happening!

Indesign6 flowing in Kurdish text help

We are using indesign CS6 and flowing in Kurdish text from a word document using the font Unikurd Goran. But its not flowing in accurately. Any tips or help?

Are you using the Middle-East edition of CS6?
It's hard to handle right-to-left langauges without it. There are plugins like World Tools that will let you work on RTL text in normal English CS6, or you can find some free Javascript tools to change text or paragraph direction.

InDesign6 irregular spacing

I'm using ID6. If I have small caps in Times New Roman in a line of text, the spacing after the small caps is extremely irregular. What's going on? Makes no difference if the spacing is set for Optical or Metrics.

Does the font have REAL small caps or it is being faked?
If it's being faked, there's a million fonts out there and many of them
have real small caps. You should consider using one.

Having problems with InDesign6 and the new OSX Mavericks

I just downloaded the new OSX and now my Id6 won't open. It starts initializing and the I get the message "InDesign quit unexpectedly." I am in the middle of publishing a book for someone using the "export to kindle" plug-in which isn't compatible with IdCC. Has anyone else had this problem?

I have just run into the same issue. New Macbook Pro running Maverick and I have Vectorworks 2011. Appple support recommends against partitioning the hard drive on a new MacBook Pro running Maverick. (The first call the apple person suggested it. On a follow up call they strongly recommend against doing it because it can screw up the firmware.) How did doing the downgrade work for you, and how did you do it, external drive, partition? I hate to drop $1300 on Vectorworks when I don't yet need it.
