Index entry error: "The number of Page or Paragraph is not valid."

I've done plenty of indexes in InDesign, and never seen this.
After having worked on this index for several days, using plenty of ‘To next use of style’ references, many those references (but not all) have now suddenly reverted to current-page references. When I open the entry and try to change it, or even just click OK with current page selected, I get an error "The number of Page or Paragraph is not valid."
Has anyone got any idea what causes this and how it can be cured?

The Cost_of_sales_account & Sales_account as defined in the MTL_PARAMETERS are different from those in MTL_SYSTEM_ITEMS_B for the corresponding item. The values for these accounts in the interface tables are same as that in the MTL_SYSTEM_ITEMS_B table and hence not same as those defined in MTL_PARAMETERS.
Actually we have a Custom trigger on the MTL_SYSTEM_ITEMS_B table which updates these accounts, once the item is created in the Master Organization.
To verify this issue, I updated the accounts on the MTL_SYSTEM_ITEMS_INTERFACE table to match with that of MTL_PARAMETERS. Ran the 'Item Import', now those records are processed.
Does this means that, the Interface is validating the cost_of_sales_account & sales_account to match with that of the 'Organization' ??.
But we never had this issue in 11i. Is this a part of R12??

    Has the version of Acrobat that you're using been packaged by your IT department? If so, can you find out if they perhaps disabled access to Acrobat.com. Sometimes in doing this, shared reviews are inadvertently disabled.

  • How do I modify the "Number of Pages" setting for an existing Master Page via javascript?

    I'm learning javascripting for InDesign and I have been tinkering with the stock scripts in the tutorials. I'm developing the ability set properties and such, playing with how Javascript works, and I wanted to change the number of pages in a master page as part of an exercise. Does anyone know how to do this? I have been able to add new masters, controlling the number of pages in them with this:
    myDocument.masterSpreads.add( {pagesPerSpread:2,} )
    but what I really want is to modify the master that InDesign automatically generates with a new document, to have 2 pages. Granted, I can just start off with a document with facing pages, but I don't really see the fun in that...

    // to avoid 0-page error
    mSet = Math.max(mSet,1);
    if (run > 0) {

              mSpread.pages.add();

    edit the variable mSet to modify pages length

    Thanks, this is exactly what I wanted. Well, almost. I wish there were a way to simply set the number of pages in a master spread to a specific number the same way there is in the interface, but this will work just as well.

  • Getting the number of pages in excel sheet or current page using OLE2

    Hi,
    I fill an excel sheet using CLIENT_OLE2 from Oracle 10g form,
    I want to get the number of pages in sheet or the number of current page,
    after searching for solution I found this example on VB:
    Sub GetPageCount()
    Dim iView As Integer
    Dim iHorizontalBreaks As Integer
    Dim iVerticalBreaks As Integer
    Dim iPageCount As Integer
    On Error Resume Next
    'go to the range and set PrintArea to the range name
    Application.Goto Reference:="ABC"
    ActiveSheet.PageSetup.PrintArea = Selection.Address
    'turn monitor flickering/updating off
    Application.ScreenUpdating = False
    'remember current View setting
    iView = Application.ActiveWindow.View
    'refresh the print area
    Application.ActiveWindow.View = xlPageBreakPreview
    'set view back
    Application.ActiveWindow.View = xlNormalView
    'turn monitor flickering/updating back on
    Application.ScreenUpdating = True
    'calculate the # of pages
    iHorizontalBreaks = ActiveSheet.HPageBreaks.Count + 1
    iVerticalBreaks = ActiveSheet.VPageBreaks.Count + 1
    iPageCount = iHorizontalBreaks * iVerticalBreaks
    How can I implement this using CLIENT_OLE2?
    Any assistance would be welcome.
    Thanks

    IF all the panels were exactly the same width (highly doubtful for a roll-fold) and IF ID supported 12 pages per spread (it doesn't) then it might be less work to make 12-page spreads and place the PDF twice, but since I think there's a really good chance you'll need to adjust the positioning for at least 22 pages, that seems doomed.
    I wouldn't even bother, in this case, with facing pages. Presumably they want this for the screen, so there's nothing gained from facing pages or multiple columns. You can either make the file with 24 pages and place the PDF 12 times for each page of the PDF, or place each page of the PDF once in a 2-page file, then copy the pages and reposition the image in the frame for each panel. The big thing here is to put the PDF into frames that are the same size as the new page (so they get cropped down to one-panel on each page). Then it's just a case of sliding the the PDF left or right in the frame to expose the next panel.

  • How can I change the number of pages in a spread?

    I imported a document that our PR department used to create in Quark into InDesign 5.5. They have it set up in four-page spreads. However, the document has always been printed with a coil binding with a large graphic on each left-hand page and text on the right page. I would like to convert to using two-page spreads. However, none of the places the InDesign help leads me give any indication of changing the number of pages per spread.
    My problem may be related to having imported from Quark, but if there's an easy way to change this, I'd appreciate hearing about it. Thanks!
    -Brian

    In the pages panel select the spreads then right-click and check Allow Selected Spreads to Shuffle and also Allow Documrnt pages to shuffle. If asked if you want to maintain the current page arrangement say no.

  • When I air print from my iPad, I can't limit the number of pages. It just says print and the number of copies and I end up with way more than I want. How do I set it to limit the pages?

    When I air print using FingerPrint from my ipad, it doesn't let me limit the number of pages, and I end up with more pages than I want. It asks if I want multiple copies, but it doesn't ask me number of pages, or which pages. Is there a way to do this?

    When you use an AirPrint compatible printer, you get this option for page range. You are using your computer as the server in order to print, so you probably have to set the range on the computer. While you can print from your printer with this app, I assume that it doesn't give you the same control that you get directly from the iPad when using an AirPrint printer.
    Read this from the FingerPrint support site. Selecting the page range would be part of the formatting of a print job.

  • Print Problem - PDF is OK on Windows 7, but OK on Windows XP with "Acrobat Reader An error exists on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly. Please contact the person who created the PDF document to correct the problem."

    I have received a PDF which prints fine in Windows 7 but with Windows XP I get "Acrobat Reader An error exists on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly. Please contact the person who created the PDF document to correct the problem." and a blank piece of paper passes through the printer. I appreciate that Windows XP is no longer supported but I would like to think that the solution to this problem is not too difficult!
    I have tried Acrobat 9, 10 and 11.
    Any advice (apart from use Windows 7! ) would be most welcome.
    Many thanks.

    If you use the same Adobe Reader versions with the same PDF on Windows 7 and XP, then I would expect the outcome to be the same.
    Is this a local or online PDF?
    If local, is the file really exactly the same?
    If online, in what browser?

  • Is there a limit to the number of pages in a spread?

    Does ID limit the number of pages you can have in one spread? I have a long document with 400 or so pages of small size. For the purposes of on-screen reviewing of the work, I'd like to group them into spreads of 12 pages each. I'm using the pages panel, and I have it set to allow pages to shuffle. It works fine for the first 10 pages, but then it refuses to allow the 11th page to attach to spread.  CS4.

  • Error in Acrobat 8: An error exists on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly...?

    Hi,
    We perform the e-signing on any PDF using our custom e-signature plug-in. Once that's done, when we try re-opening the PDF in Acrobat version 8.0.0.0, we get the following error:-
    "An error exists on this page. Acrobat may not display the page correctly. Please contact the person who created the PDF document to correct the problem"
    Please note that this error occurs intermittently and is NOT observed in Acrobat 7 or 9.  Also, when a plain PDF is opened (i.e. a PDF without any signature on it) then there is NO error.
    Could you let me know what could be the issue here? I read it in Acrobat 8.1.3 release notes that such an error was a known bug in version 8.0.0.0 (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/407/kb407016.html), but I am not sure of its cause.
    Let me know your comments/suggestions.
    Thanks!

    I am getting the same error even in Acrobat version 8.1.3.
    Additionally, I noticed that if we click on menu ‘Advanced->Sign&Certify->Preview Document’, then we get a notification as “This document is not PDF/SigQ compliant and may display inconsistently”. On clicking  ‘View report’ on that notification, the below dialog pops up. It has errors listed as:-
    Code 4000 : Unrecognized PDF content. The document contains PDF content or custom content not supported by the current version of Acrobat.
    Code 4002: PDF content contains erros.
    However, if we sign the PDF using default adobe signature functionality and reopen that PDF, the error does NOT come and the notification also says ‘This document is PDF/SigQ compliant’.
    Can anybody please suggest what could be missing in the custom sign that we apply? Is it because of any of the missing fonts or any other resources?
    Awaiting reply!
    Regards.

  • How to get  the number of page which exists the change bar ?

    In FDK development, I want to find the number of page which exists the change bar.

    zhaopeng,
    You can get the page number by querying the FP_PageNum property of the FO_Page object:
    pageNum = F_ApiGetInt(docId, pageId, FP_PageNum);
    ...or you can use FP_PageNumString if you are using string page numbers.
    If you do not have the ID of the FO_Page object, you can get it from the paragraph ID using the following function, courtesy of Rick Quatro, posted to the Yahoo Framedev list. Send the paragraph (FO_Pgf) ID as oObj and it will return the page ID:
    F_ObjHandleT GetPage(F_ObjHandleT oDoc, F_ObjHandleT oObj)
    F_ObjHandleT oFrame = 0;
    IntT iObjType;
    F_ObjHandleT oRow, oCell;

  • Getting the number of pages in a PDF [JavaScript in CS3]

    Hello All,
    I am an InDesign JavaScript newbie that will be posting questions in the near future. Before asking a lot of questions, I would like to contribute something to the group. Here is a function that will query a PDF and return the number of pages that it contains. This is useful for placing multi-page PDFs.
    Rick Quatro
    rick at frameexpert dot com
    function GetPdfPageCount(oFile)
    // Convert filename to a VBS-friendly format.
    var sFile = oFile.fsName.replace(/\\/g, "\\\\");
    var aFile = [sFile]; // An array of arguments.
    if(File.fs == "Windows"){
    var sGetPdfPageCount = "Dim AcroApp, AVDoc, PDDoc, iPages\r";
    sGetPdfPageCount += "Set AcroApp = CreateObject(\"AcroExch.App\")\r";

    The solutions that open the PDF files with f.open and look for particular strings don't work for all of the PDF files I have. This one seems to work well for me so far. Thanks for the link.
