Index not appearing among Advanced Search indexes

Hi,
I have created an index but the index is not appearing among a list of other indexes in the Advanced Search page.
My steps for index creation are as below:
1) Go to System Admin > System Config > Knowledge Management > Index Administration.
Click on the Create button
2)
ID      = sponsored_links
Name    = Sponsored Links Index
Group   = No entry
Crawler = standard (and define a schedule as daily)
Parameter
Service        = TREX Search
Items to Index = Documents
I haven't assigned any data source.
(I have also tried entering Name & Value fields as 'searchhidden' and 'true').
Click 'Create Index' button.
3) Next, click on Advanced Search link on the top of the portal.
Click on 'Show Indexes'.
The index I created is not displayed.
Could anyone please let me know what I am doing wrong?

Thank you for your reply.
But i am not very clear regarding the function of Sponsored Links.
I don't have any xml documents in my Sponsored Links folder. Therefore why do I need to include the property searchhidden during index creation so that XMLs are not rendered in the search results?
1) Suppose I have ten indexes. If I search for the keyword (present in the Sponsored Link form) among all the indexes (from Advanced Search), even if one index has an error, the search operation will throw an error mentioning the names of erronous indexes.
In this case I would need to select only non-erronous indexes and then perform the search.
If my index is hidden and not visible among the other indexes, how do I include it in my search?
2) Similarly if I would like to search using this index only, how do i do it? Since this index is hidden i am unable to select only this, for a search.
Is it mandatory to have the searchhideen property? Will the sponsored links functionality not work if this property is missing?
I request you to kindly guide me at your earliest convenience.

I understand that you are having issues with your music displaying correctly. This may be an issues with the metadata stored within that song, and iTunes interpretation of that info.

BI JDBC system does not appear in a search in Visual Composer of CE7.1

I have configured BI JDBC system in CE7.1 but it does not appear in a search in visual composter.
I have using following connection parameter while configuration of BI JDBC system in CE 7.1.
Oracle Deriver - classes12.jar / ojdbc14.jar
Connection URL - jdbc:oracle:thin:@xx.xx.xx.xx:1527:BWI;SYSTEM;xxxx
Driver Class Name - oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver
Platform details for BI and CE 7.1
OS AIX 6.1
Database Oracle 10.2
Apart from this I already check SAP Note 1247283,1169625,1138877,773401 but still is not working.
Please help me on same.

Muse site hosted with BC not appearing on Google searches

Hi again... another quick question for you guys...my website www.crownmarketers.com is made with muse and hosted with BC. Ive put made paragraph style (h1, h2, p, etc.) and also have changed the page names to be more search friendly and also have added info to each image on the site under image properties. I also have done the metadata for each page including description and keywords. how can i make my site crown marketers appear when i search google ?

There is no fixed formula to get on first page of Google. But the important thing is "Make pages for users, not for search engines", one of the most important that factor affects your ranking on Google is how much people are satisfied or pleasured by your webpages. Few more things to consider,
Before using a keyword, make sure to research his popularity, Wordtracker, Google AdWords, Google Trends or the Yahoo! Buzz Index. Each of these sites provides a snapshot of keyword popularity.
Keywords should be relevant to the overall content of your page
Avoid using images to display important names, content, or links. Google's crawler cannot read text in graphics. Use ALT attributes for images
If there is more then one way to reach out to the same page, indicate the canonical (preferred) version of a page More information about canonicalization.

Arrow key scrolling not working with advanced search- Adobe Reader X

I'm using adobe reader X and when I get results from an advanced search I am scrolling down the search results with the arrow keys, but the document will not update. I know this will work. Can anybody please help?

I am also having this problem. Previous installations of Acrobat X allowed me to use the up and down arrows to navigate the search results, but no longer loads the appropriate page in the document. I have to click each entry or hit the enter key after using the down arrows to update the page.

How can I create a private app that does not appear in a search on the app store?

I have an app which I only want certain people to see but no matter what I do it continues to appear when people search for it in the app store. Is there a setting I can use so that it doesn't appear in any search?

Thanks, it was linked in iPhoto. After removing it from iPhoto I still got the same message when trying to delete the account from Mail. After rebooting, I was able to remove the account from Mail.

.jar files not launching, and Jar Launcher not appearing when I search it

Okay, so here's the issue:
A couple weeks ago, I decided to download a stand-alone jar file for my personal use. The jar file, dependent on nothing, ran in Jar Laucher by default and worked fine. Earlier this week, however, I decided my Mac was cluttered and so I went through it and cleared out everything I wasn't ever going to use again. I also have an app called "The Unarchiver" from the Mac App store (I've had this for about two months). Since the uncluttering, three bad things have happened. 1) Any .jar files open in The Unarchiver instead of Jar launcher
2) When I search around my Mac for Jar Launcher, nothing appears.
3) The .jar file icons changed to this:
Also, I tried uninstalling The Unarchiver, and it still didn't work. Either Jar Launcher is gone, or it went dormant. What should I do, and if needed, where can I reinstall Jar Launcher?!?

I figured out how to fix this issue. All you have to do is just install a new version of Java from the Apple website. When it's done, all of your jar files will now open in Jar Launcher by default.

Spotlight Comments do not appear in Spotlight search results

I have a .png file on my desktop.
Right click >> Get Info
Spotlight Comments has the string 'Fruit' saved.
If I search for 'Fruit' in Spotlight I get no results, why?

Yes and no.
Yes it worked the way you mentioned but if I change the Spotlight Comment: on the same file to something else I can still find it via 'Fruit'. I much prefer command-space bar to call Spotlight.
How long does it take a change to a Spotlight Comment: to filter into Spotlight?
Its not the end of the world its just I was finding Spotlight really useful until I came up against this.

I generally use Firefox instead of IE and have set google as my homepage. This google does not have an advanced search option/link as the google page I get using IE. Why not? Do I have to start using IE now to use this feature?

To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
#Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.

Trying to install search add-ons (top-rated, safe). I click install, restart and nothing happens. They do not appear in the search plugins folder.

Starting up with a new computer, I've been trying to install two search engine add-ons: easy youtube video downloader and
search IMDB. They are top rated so presumably safe and approved. I go through the whole process of installing them, and restart Firefox as instructed but nothing happens. I looked in the search plugins folder in Firefox (Program Files). I can see the search add-ons that were there when I first started on this computer, but none of the ones I'm trying to add are there. I've gone around and around on this repeatedly with no success. Please help.

Addon search engines aren't in the Firefox program files \searchplugins\ folder, they are in the \searchplugins\ folder in the user's respective '''Profile''' folder.

IWork 09 does not appear among the purchased apps. How can it be updated?

iWork '09 was loaded from an Apple DVD. After installing Maverick, now and then I'm advised that an update is available either for Pages or for Numbers. When prompted, I accept to install the update, but nothing apparently happens. As a consequence I don't know whether I have the last versions. Actually they are: Pages '09 Version 4.3 (1048) and Numbers '09 version 2.3 (554). Should I buy Pages and Numbers from the App Store? Thank you.

If Numbers and Pages '09 are working for you, stick with them. The new versions of Numbers and Pages have new features added (for better conversion between Mac OS X and iOS) but have lost some (many?) features that require workarounds.

When using Google Toolbar, and I begin entering a search term, several complete choices appear, but when I click on one of them, autocomplete does not fill in the search box.

Camera icon does not appear when use Google Image Search

Hello,
I am working on a much older macbook pro (2006) running OS 10.6.8 and Safari 5.1.10.
Just the other day I reinstalled Safari, as some things appeared to not be working properly. However, there was nothing wrong with Google. SInce then, when I try to search by Google Image, the camera icon does not appear in the search bar. I have tried reinstalling Safari twice, but nothing changes. I have checked in Firefox and it shows up as expected.
I have cleared the cache, deleted cookies, and cleared browser history. None of these steps have produced any changes.
Also, I seem to have reverted to some earlier version of Google, since the search tools now appear on the top left, as show below.
Can you please assist me in sorting this out so that Safari and Google perform as expected.

I posted that work around on the google forums and it actually came from the Apple forums from users 'Society Girl' and refined by 'spiza' from this thread.

I called a friend at a tech magazine and he *cough* unofficially* cough* said via contacts it was a very deliberate move by Google... nothing to do with their upgrades or a hack coincidentally not working as a by product with old browsers.

In a separate thread, as spotted by a Reg reader who brought this sorry affair to our attention, user MadFranko008 was able to show that even modern browsers - including the current version of Chrome - were apparently spitting out glitches on Apple Mac computers.
Google then appeared to have resolved the search "bug" spotted in Chrome.

Flashing marker does not appear in search box when starting Firefox

When I start Firefox the flashing marker does not appear in the search box. If I reload this sometimes sorts the problem

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

How do i do an advanced search when using adobe reader within a firefox window?

i used to be able to do an advanced search within a firefox tab, but when i updated firefox to version 33.0 from version 17.x, the interface changed and i can't figure out how to do it, any longer.
eventually, i figured out that a simple search can be done with control-F, but i'd like to get the advanced search panel.
when i use internet explorer, it has an icon of binoculars that will open advanced search. firefox does not have this.

Advanced Search relies on the use of a Catlog index built by the Acrobat search engine.
The browser add-ons cannot access the Catalog index.
Advance Search via Catalog indexes of network based PDF collections is possible.
