Index panel annoying auto collapse

Hello
I'm working on a book with an index of names, and more often than not I have to change the Topic Options to add initials. Every time I double click on a name to change something and close the Topic Options dialog the Index panel collapses closing the letter submenu I was working with.
Is there anything I could do to avoid this?
CS3 on windows
Thank you,
Sander

No, and I know, it's extremely annoying. A workaround is in the index
panel flyout click show find, and then in the find field type in a word
you know is where you want to go back to. Then all you have to do is
press the down arrow to get back to where you were.

  • ID Panels pref auto collapse deletes extra pages

    Hi all -
    ID 5.0.2 on 10.5.3.
Today I tried turning on auto collapse in the Interface->panels prefs.
Later, when trying to delete a single page, I found that it would delete a spread instead. This would only happen if there were objects on the page, as I would have to leave the panel to click on the 'Are you sure' dialog.
This happens when clicking the trash, or dragging the page. It also happens on intel and ppc versions. I had no problems deleting a spread.
Thought I'd mention this, as I didn't see anything on the interwebs or this forum about it, and I lost a number of pages to this bug before I noticed.

    You can have that.
    1. Make sure the pages palette is on your second monitor, free floating.
    2. When the panels collapse (usually after pressing tab), the page panel disappears. Choose it again from the windows menu. After that, it should stay visible while the others auto-collapse.

  • CS6 Illustrator panel auto-collapses when expanding a different panel

    Hi,
Can anyone explain how to stop a panel from auto-collapsing when expanding other group panels?
For example: if I have 'layers' panel expanded and I click the 'color' panel, the 'layers' panel collapses to icon. (I have disabled 'Auto-Collapse Iconic Panels' but it still doesn't allow me to have 2 different panels expanded at the same time)
    Thanks

Double click on the green square and the dialoge box will come up. If you double click on the red square it will just make the name of the layer editable in the pallette. I hope this helps.

  • Auto collapse SVG tags (or other tags) to clean up HTML structure

I am usong SVG for icons and logos in the my HTML. I know Dreamweaver CC allow collapsing of code sections highlited, but I would like to be able to set a setting to auto collapse certain tags to help make the HTML more readable. Is there and option/script/extension to do this?
I dislike how "Apply Source Formatting" will expand collapsed sections, requiring you to go re-collapse them manually.

As far as I've ever seen, there's nowhere in DW where you could set something like that. Aside from hitting Ctrl + Shift + J while anywhere within the tag to collapse it, I think you're stuck.
It would be a nice addition to the Tag Library Editor.

  • Spacebar-alt to have auto pop auto collapse HUD of tool relevant adjustment sliders

spacebar allows me to drag the document around, right next to it, as an option I`d like to see spacebar-alt for an instant pop up dialogue or heads up display, over the mouse for tool specific adjustments, (right now its "enter")
but I`d like to see it as "auto collapse", so as soon as I let go of alt and just use the spacebar to move the image around the pop up with sliders disappears,
the pop would have sliders for dynamic update to stroke size, transparency, lightmode, all as dynamic live update sliders except for lightmodes (drop down) on the popup, for pencil, brushes, erasor,
for warp tools, individual stroke size, pressure and angle sliders, intensity, detail, simplify,
For symbols, diameter, intensity, symbol set density sliders.
    why I like it
more intuitive, speed up and increase work "FLOW" and focus as its all right there at where your focusing and working.
not having to open dialogues and click drop downs or enter numbers.
the pop up HUD would be semi transparent except for the sliders and number values to see the dynamic live update results below of the selected object.
also a check box option on the pop up for live update of selected object or objects below,  or not update selected object

    pencil tool,
    hud:
pencil tool is something I use a LOT for obvious reasons, but pressing enter to open the dialogue box takes me away from my visualization and flow, its like slowing down for a road bump.
with the HUD using spacebar alt, it would be provide a smoother non intrusive adjustment to settings for my user experience, as I use the pen tablet and the space bar on the keyboard to pan around, so my hand is already on the spacebar, just using my "pinky" little finger with "alt" and other on spacebar can activate HUD and adjust fidelity, smoothness and "edit selected paths", I use these 3 a LOT when drawing depending on what phase of the drawing I`m in and what part, what kind of lines I am creating... would make the drawing experience less "start stop" and feel more just gliding as I make adjustments with alt spacebar to settings.
if you have used Zbrush from pixologic you will know what I mean by adjusting tools with HUD pop up sliders, and theirs doesnt seem to bring the computer to a grinding halt like when I use the colour picker HUD in photoshop with openGL..

  • Catalog/Folders/Collection panels auto-collapsing in Library module

    Lightroom 4.3, Mac OS X 10.7.5
Maybe I'm just going crazy today, but working in the Library module, I could swear I used to have the Catalogs, Folders, and Collections panels open at the same time. Now, for example, I have Folders clicked on. So, to reveal the Collections panel, I need to click on the arrow to the left of "Collections." So I do. And Collections opens, meanwhile automatically collapsing Folders. If I click on the arrow left of Publish Services, it collapses Collections, and opens Publish Services. "Navigator" is the only panel I can keep open while one of the other ones is open.
Does this make sense? Did I accidentally hit a key or mess up a preference or something? I just tried moving into a different catalog, and I also updated to 4.3 (I was on the previous version when I noticed this problem this morning) but the problem remains. Am I missing something really obvious?

Never mind. I just figured it out by looking two questions down. Apparently, there is something called "Solo Mode" that does this. How I accidentally activated it, I dont know. To solve the problem, you just right click on any dark section of a panel, and deselect "solo mode" from the drop down menu. I've been using Lightroom for years, and I continue to discover things I didn't know about.
    Thanks!

  • How to stop annoying auto scrolling in window

I'm running 10.8.5.  Since upgrading to 10.8.5 from 10.6.x, my system has been doing two VERY annoying things.
    1. Within a window, if I have a file selected (highlighted), say at the bottom of the window.  Then I scroll all the way to the top (not selecting any other file), and the selected file is off screen (can't see it).  I would then copy a file from another window to the first window (the file being copied starts with "A" so it should show up where I scrolled to at the top in the first window), once it's finished copying over, the window will automatically scroll down to the file I had selected earlier.  Without fail.  This actually happens with any other activity being done on my system.  Window ALWAYS scroll to the highlighted file where ever you are in the window.  This has never happened with 10.6.x or earlier OS X.
    2. This one seems to happen randomly.  Whenever I select a file to change it's name (doing a single click on the name bar), instead of the file I hit being editable, 10.8.5 would select a random file down the list instead.  Making THAT file editable.
Anyone else experience these?  Is there a fix, or an option somewhere to turn these ridiculous features off?
I really don't know what Apple is doing these days.  But it certainly is no longer the user friendly and reliable system I've used for over 20 years.  It's all about glitz and glam, no real functionality for old school power users.  Instead of being a unique system like it used to be, it's now just a glorified version of PC.  Just costs a lot more.

  • Making tab panel content auto resize

I'm using a SlidingTabPanel which has dynamic content. How can I get the panels to dynamically resize according to the amount of content in each panel?

    No,
This is one the limitations of the sliding panels, it needs a wrapper div, with a minimum height in order to make the divs inside the wrapper slide. If you want such functionality on your site, you might want to create a custom effect for that using the SpryEffects library.

  • Making PSD edits/stacks auto collapse?

    Hi All
I'm on a Mac with LR2 and use the Command E feature to open an edit in Photoshop. Is there a way to have my photoshop edit create an automatically collapsed stack with the RAW file it is associated with, with the PSD file on top? I thought it did this, but now all that's happening is the PSD edit is imported into LR next to the RAW in an expanded stack, and I have to manually collapse the stack.
    Any ideas?

    Hello again...
No replies so far, but I thought I'd keep this updated so that maybe in future generations, when the problem is resolved, this may serve as an historical record
Going over the folder again, some of the stacked stacks didn't really stack.  But some did.
The most annoying thing at the moment is, that when I'm in grid view, and I expand a stack, the window scrolls to several hundred photos away from the expanded stack, which I then have to scroll back to find. This is more than a little annoying. It seems that this happens if I don't select the stack first.  If it's not selected, and I click to expand it, then focus scrolls back to the last selected photo.
In the filmstrip, in the survey view, I did have a pleasant if not intermittent surprise.  In survey view, if I expand a stack, then sometimes the entire stack is selected and appears in the survey, which is great.  Sometimes, it doesn't, though an extra click on the top of the stack usually does the trick to select everything in the stack.  I just haven't been able to yet find a rule that would let me get everything in the stack selected when I expanded it.
Has anyone else seen this behavior, or am I in some other dimensional plane where things don't act exactly as they do for everyone else?
    Thanks!
    -Eric

  • Tree and auto collapse

    Hi
I had an old Actionscript code that works with a Tree
    component.
The idea is that when you open an Branch, it collapses before
the already opened ones, so you have only branch at the same time.
I try to reproduce it with a flex component but if I use
expandItem(), the Tree opens suddenly without the slow motion
provided when you close to the arrow.
The functions used in Flash were getIsOpen() and setIsOpen()
Is there a similar way to do that in Flex ?
    Thanks for your help

I made that code, but the expandItem is not working. I know I
have to use the dataProvider and not the Tree itself and it should
    work like that. I followed
    that
    tutorial.
    Thanks for your help

  • [SOLVED] How can I turn off the annoying auto indent tabs in VIM?

I'm coding in Python and VIM is auto-tabbing each new line.  It's a real buzz kill.
When I hit enter at the left margine, even when there is nothing on the line above the cursor, it shoots out a tab and three spaces.  I've switched to nano but feel lost without VIM.  I've never seen this behavior before.  I've turned off all of the auto indentation options I can think of.
    ***** begin .vimrc *****
    set noautoindent
    set nosmartindent
    set noindentexpr
    set nocindent
    ***** end .vimrc *****
    Thanks!
    [UPDATE]
I wish I could delete this post.  ... anyway...  the solution was:
    set indentexpr=''
    Last edited by TomB17 (2009-09-03 16:41:07)

Unfortunately, I have to do a ":set indexexpr='' " each time I start VIM.  I've got it in the .vimrc but it seems to be ignored.
I'm used to Ubuntu and this feels really weird.  It's like profiles aren't processed.
I would appreciate it if somoeone would point me in the correct direction.

  • Index doesn't auto select

We just updated to RoboHelp for Word to generate WebHelp.
When I compile the help and run the results (in a browser) typing
in the index field jumps to the first match in the index list.
However, when the same files are put in the application, typing in
the list doesn't jump to the first match. We got a number of
complaints from customers, so I was hoping it would be fixed in 7.
No such luck. Is it something I'm doing?
    Phil

Oops. Let me clarify. We just updated from RoboHelp 6 to
RoboHelp 7 and we use RoboHelp for Word to generate WebHelp.
We don't use WebHelp by choice - it's all that's left.
WinHelp can't be use on Windows Vista and HTMLHelp can't be used
over a network. I hate WebHelp but we have no choice.
Our software has been in use by customers for over 20 years.
We started writing this help LONG before RoboHelp existed. We
started out with our own DOS based help system and converted to
HelpBreeze when Windows came around. We outgrew it however and
RoboHelp was a good migration path since both HelpBreeze and
RoboHelp are Word-based. I tried using RoboHelp's Word to HTML
project conversion, but it didn't transfer any build tags. A.K.A. -
completely useless. I haven't tried it with RH7 yet. Maybe it's
    better.
How does one call WebHelp from an application that will have
any effect at all on the way the index works? Even more
fundamentally - how does one affect the way the index works at all?
    I'm just calling RH_ShowHelp(). There isn't a whole lot more I can
    or can't do.

  • Auto collapse menu linked to anchors on a page

I've got a long(ish) page that I want the viewer to be able to "jump" to various areas. I'm trying to do this with a vertical menu inside an accordion. See http://thesalusburyfoodstore.businesscatalyst.com/pizza-delivery-menu.html for an example of where I'm at.
If you view the page above, you will notice that although the accordion is initially closed, as soon as the "menu" part is opened, it stays open. I need to be able to make the menu close back up to the top "Quick jump to section" part, once a menu choice is made by the user. This is pinned to the top of the browser.
Is this possibele? Perhaps I'm using the wrong widget for this?
Any help much appreciated – thanks.
    Steve

I have the same problem. I've created an alternate mobile site. I put a vertican dropdown menu inside an accordion widget.
This type of system works fine when the menu takes one to w new page; but!, when there is one long page and the menu links to an anchor further down the page, the menu stays open after clicking. This is not good! The menu needs to collapse after making a selection. Adobe should add this as an option, somehow. I don't know if the option belongs in the accordion widget or the menu widget.
